Douglas Murray’s Commencement Speech to Columbia Graduates: The Kindling of the Fire Is Now Your Job

- After Columbia University cancelled its school-wide commencement due to threats stemming from weeks of anti-Israel protests and encampments on campus, author Douglas Murray provided a commencement address for a group of Columbia graduates, faculty, and alumni. He recommended 4 virtues these graduates should seek to live by: 1) Respect-a respect for tradition and learning from the past; 2) Courage-remember that heroism can come in all forms and from all places; 3) Curiosity-stay curious and gravitate towards those who are curious; and 4) Gratitude-Instead of choosing between a life of resentment and being indoctrinated into a life of resentment, focus on gratitude.
Douglas Murray is one of the greatest intellectuals who is literally saving The West.
Have read every one of his books & he has inspired me to speak up against the insanity going on

He is a friend to all decent human beings with courage. He is a friend to civilized human beings with moral compass. It just so happens to be that those are the main qualities of the people and the State of Israel.

Are you a little slow? We have all watched just how idiotic, uneducated and willfully ignorant these "pro-Palestinian" protesters are about the basic history of the region is. Any ignoramus can watch propaganda and scream the same modern day self-righteous slogans ad nauseam "genocide," "war criminal," "ethnic cleansing," "occupation," "colonizer," "fascist," all of which obviously and rationally describe the Iranian Regime and there jihadist proxy warmongers who have colonized Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and at this very moment attempting to exterminate the Jewish refugees who escaped those very same countries and make up the majority of Israel's Jewish population. But you don't strike me as the sort of person with the moral fortitude to study or learn about these basic facts because obviously your own racism against this ancient Middle Eastern minority matches group the IRGC which is an actual Nazi-like group of war criminals responsible for all you falsely project at the Jewish People of Israel.
Any time spent listening to Douglas Murray is time well spent.

My abiding understanding of Murray gained over many years is not to be right but to continually travel the world and visit all sides in arenas of conflict and war to try and understand actual cause and effect, often engaging with closed minds to explore for a mutually agreed realities that could bring about change, reconciliation and peace. His attempts to explain the facts of an issue with refreshing candour speak for themselves. This is an anathema for those fixed by dogmatic attitudes wishing to perpetuate resentful differences rather than healing similarities. Kind regards Tim
True and the important thing is not to hate back….as that harms us. We need to find the way not to hold onto anger, resentment etc as it doesn’t help, however justified we feel. Peace 🤍

There are more people like him today; one of them is Ben Shapiro. But I understand what you mean. Today, there are people who would use violence if anyone disagreed with them. But Mr. Murray is a strong person. He is not the type of person who says what people want him to say just so he can keep his job or lets fear stops him from expressing his views. Unfortunately, the authorities in every country in the West today allow violence from people (from the “religion of peace” for an example) just not to offend them.

We are witnessing the controlled dismantling of the West. Most of us are looking on, mouths open, helpless. I think I speak for many of us when I say that Douglas is our voice. He has the poise, intellect and public recognition and strength to speak truth to power and if we have to fight to defend our way of life, then that is what we must do.
I find myself thinking, as an 83 year old lady, that I would fight for what Douglas Murray espouses. There are millions of us. Maybe not as old as I, but don’t count us out when seeing those who would destroy the goodness of the West.
