- In this video i'm going to be troubleshooting a random error that happens that keeps the computer from booting into windows. Not only am I going to show you how to fix this issue, i'm going to explain how you can determine if this fix actually applies to your specific Press F1 to run SETUP error.

I seem to get this message every time I boot up and I have to adjust the time and date or else it tells me that everything is out of sync. I'll try and change the battery though. I have to say this is insane if this is the issue! Happy also that it could be a quick fix. Thanks for posting.

Got a brand new build, that dang battery on the MOBO caused the monitor to now have any signal, took it out put it back in , now I can see the bios on the monitor. But I'm stuck at the Splash Screen , do I need to change the battery completely? Appreciate your reply.

my issue is almost similar but my pc keeps restarting instead of being stuck,
I had the same issue 5 months ago but i keept doing the steps you showed pressing F1 everyday untill i was able to access windows without pressing F1
now i'm back at the same problem and this problem came back because i unplugged my headphones and plugged them back on.

I am on an Asus P8Z68-V LE and I still get this message after changing the CMOS battery. Have read lots of people getting the same on different forums.
I figured out my issue. I was using an extension cord for cable management to connect my pc and my desktop but when I plugged my pc back into the wall instead it started back up again 🙌🏽🙌🏽
It goes right back to the error menu when I exit he BIOS thing.

Please help. My pc hangs at splash screen. On pressing DEL it shows American megatrend page with message
Press Esc for BBS menu
Initializing USB controllers....Done, pressing Esc does nothing it hangs there only. It does not detect HDD, cd drive, only 1 out of 6 usb working. Resetting Cmos didn't worked, Cmos battery is new. Pc starts two times, first for 2 seconds then off then switches on. My pc specification (pls don't laugh)

Seagate 250 gb hard drive.

Change your Cmos battery then retry...

@@steinerikgarciamoe5945 hey ! It ended up being a RAM issue I disconnected my sticks and reinstalled and also installed a new version of windows. Works now ! Hope this helps

I've to do a cmos reset just to get to the F1 screen......get nothing to the monitor not even pressing Del/F2, change nothing in the bios and it starts up

My computer had American Megatrends was showing up for me, but I think it was a different error code. I had a usb over surging. Turned out that my micro USB was sticking more than half way out.

If you press f1 and it won't boot, then your SSSD is toast. Buy a better brand. A good cheap brand is Silicon.
My Computer is doing this right now. but it wont boot even if I save the BIOS settings it still goes to the American Megatrends screen, I am going change my Battery out tomorrow, but I am thinking it might be more than that.

This is most unfortunate for me. Because of my living situation, I live in an RV with an inverter-generator that I have to power down every night before bed. So every night before I power down, I turn off my desktop computer and switch off the PSU then hit the power button to basically drain the motherboard. Before coming here, I had a strong feeling that it was my CMOS because of the symptoms, but failed to realize what I was doing every night to my desktop. My question is; Should I now just turn off my desktop as normal and leave it that way? Regardless, I am unable to keep power to my desktop at all times.
Buying some additional CR2032 batteries is a small price to pay to protect your computer the way you are doing. Keep up the good work!

Replacing the battery was the trick for me.
I am getting the same issue , but I change my Date and time from from windows OS and when I shut down , now my pc is not turning on 😢😢😢 can u say the problem, I have to change the battery and check tomorrow.
I have replaced the battery and I still can’t even get into the bios. I get the american megatrends streen and i can’t do anything.
This kind of problem occured to me just now, tried changing the CMOS and temporarily solved the problem. but the next time i opened my desktop, the problem occured again. Hope you help me. it is pretty annoying seeing this type of error. Thank You!
If you changed the battery and this persists, its most likely the SSD maybe a cheap Lexar is famous for this.

I oressed F2 and IT does this thing, where IT says: "reboot and select proper voit device or insert boot media in selected voit device and press a key"
And it does it EVERY TIME i try to tuen The pc off, and turn IT on again. And it won't let me go to The start screwn where im able to press f1

Hello i have a question and that is what am i supposed to do when i dont have the option to Press F1 and it Just writes that its going to shut Down in 15 seconds

Make sure the rams are seated properly and fans head connector to cpu fans head

En la bios ve a "Advanced mode" (f7), luego en la pestaña de boot, y desactivas la opción de "permitir el uso de F1 en caso de error". Así te inicia solo sin necesidad de dar esa combinación de teclas.
Este error sucede debido a un problema con el disco.

I always shut the power supply off on the back before I head to work, does that mean I have to fix my battery? Or never shut down the power, then the issue will be fixed?!

Thanks for this, for mine to work I had to remove the the Usb's before starting. Otherwise It booted Into the F1/ F2 Screen and pressing the F1/F2 button did nothing. I have now changed the Battery and working now.

Hey man for me it shows up the same thing but my error is much different. It is called 0135 cpu fan error. Do you know how to fix it?

Pc has bever been i raid mode what so ever. But ive never changed rhe cmos battery snd ive had this oc for well over 6 years.

So, I’m far from a tech expert, so take this with a heaping helping of salt. From what I could quickly find, this is likely an issue with the battery on the motherboard not retaining power. If that is the case, it may need to be replaced
So I just made a new pc and I keep getting stuck at the American megatrends screen with out any options to get passed it.
On my computer if I don't boot it up after maybe 6 hours I will boot it up, and it will take me to the error message saying "WARNING: Please back up your data and replace your hard disk drive" But I have a SSD that cant be possible. Should I be worried?

So I've got a problem.
When I boot up my pc the error on American Megatrends is "front fan failure" I had just recently taken my pc to the place I bought it from so that they would fix my gpu issues by warranty. Idk what the front fan has to do with the gpu but they might have broken something. It's wierd tho because when I open my pc up I see that all the fans are working just fine.
Any solution?

i need help please. my computer was running normal and then when i turned it on it showed me biostar boot menu or something. i don't even know what it is. i refreshed my pc so many times it finally turned on and let me use my pc. then it happened again so i changed hdd with ssd and it was working for a while but then it showed me the same menu and wouldn't let me go to windows. i click save changes and reset and it resets into the same menu, i changed the battery and it's still not working. i also tried putting my ssd in a laptop and it still showed the same thing on the laptop. on a different device. i can't use my pc what am i supposed to do? what is causing it?
