Your video is definitely a lifesaver. I am not an advanced tech savvy person. I went into my bios. Tried to change the graphics settings because it's the AMD Ryzen 5600G and not all of the ram is showing in my system and after I did that my monitor would not register any graphics and would shut off and I couldn't get my monitor to wake up turn the system off, turn the system back on still the same thing. But now that I know that MSI and any line of MSI motherboards, my motherboard is the MSI b450 tomahawk Max can be reset. It's a lifesaver. It restored everything on my system back to the way that it came. I nearly bought a new motherboard just because of this and I have since canceled that order cuz now I don't need to change it now. I've learned something new, but these types of videos are very important for people like me who only know the basics and are not knowledgeable about advanced technology.

As I was saying in my comment about not all the ram is registering in my system I had a 3400 g which also didn't show all of the ram was being used but now with my 5600 g it's still not showing all as used. Is it possible for you to make a video explaining and showing how to optimize the BIOS so that the computer system shows all the ram is being used. My system shows 24 GB installed but says 19.9 GB usable.

@@laurosilvestrejr.106 you probably have 4GB assigned to the APU so that is likely where the missing RAM is

Recently built a new PC and it would not boot at all. Made sure all connections were correct and tight....still no boot. Removed CMOS battery and waited two minutes, shorted the clear CMOS pins, reinserted CMOS battery and it booted! So even if your installed a brand new motherboard, first thing you should do is follow the procedure to reset the BIOS by clearing CMOS. (And if it still won't boot, replace the CMOS battery with a new one)

For the boys with ASUS TUF GAMING motherboards, you don't need to open your PC to reset your BIOS. Just use their Flashback feature and read manual online for super easy BIOS reset with USB and BIOS button in the back. Maybe other manufacturers have the same useful feature, so you don't need to disassembly your whole PC to reset your BIOS and it's settings.

Note that the information in this video is slightly outdated. On a modern system with UEFI, the BIOS settings are actually stored in true nonvolatile memory (most often SPI NOR flash). The battery is only for keeping the motherboard's clock running while the system is unpowered. Clearing the NVRAM is something the BIOS has to do actively - because this advice is still so prevalent, many motherboard makers emulate "CMOS clear" behavior when an invalid RTC date is detected, but this shouldn't be relied upon - instead, use the dedicated NVRAM reset jumper or button on the board, as described in the board's documentation (some systems may also require powering on the system with the jumper in place before the NVRAM will clear - again, see your board's manual to see if this is necessary). Pulling the battery may fail to reset settings even if you're careful to drain residual electricity, because the NVRAM itself isn't battery-backed.

Yeah dude this literally resolved my issue.. I had my pc really acting up (file icons missing/ full screen video playback off centered / ect) & I went to tryn system restore & it just stayed stuck & forced me to hard reset… after that I had a pc that wouldn’t boot up or even show the f2 options on startup it was just the intel screen and that’s it… I thought i was seriously going to need to buy a new pc … until I tried this method & I actually got my computer back up & didn’t even have to install windows again either!! 😊

New here, watched this video because ASUS just asked if I had tried resetting the CMOS. New B660-PLUS D4 board, new 2 x 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 3200MHz memory, new intel i5-12400F 12th GEN CPU. Existing MSI GTX 1050Ti graphics card, existing COOLMAX CUG-950B (model T-950B) - which I tested all pins with a volt meter and they are within tolerance. G'morning Mike. I would need to reset before trying this...if I try this. (dadgum curiosity)
So I have 32g 2666 (19-19-19-43) 2x16 (GSkill Aegis) laying around from a previous system.
Also have 32g 3600 (16-18-18-38) 4x8 (Corsair Ballistix) in my current system.
If I could get them to play together nice,...I have 4 slots...would 48g at slower speed be better than 32g at faster speeds?
CPUZ shows a timing table for the 3600 to match the 2666 (19-19-19-43)
Reset and just plug them in, let the board sort it out or will I need to fiddle with stuff in the bios?

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  3 роки тому

i would set the BIOS to ddr4 2666 cl 19 they should if theory work together at that speed - fingers crossed

      @@mikesunboxing Interesting.
I'm on it now, I just set 2666 in the bios and didn't mess with the timings. CPUz now shows 48G at 1333 16-18-18-38-62.
Seems to be running fine. ASRock B550M/ac...XMP set to auto. (Most things set to auto) I thought it would use the cl19 of the Gskill.
As far as "better" than 32g at 3600 I don't know yet.
Right now I have my browser open, Photoshop with a 4K image, Daz Studio, processing a 4K 3D image, and HWinfo running...says I have 38G free.
      Edit, I gained 452 points in CinebenchR23.

sounds like either a bad boot sector on the drive or the drive is failing maybe. could be the motherboard but the really slow shutdown normally means windows can't right the shutdown data to the drive.
so probably a dead or dying disk drive i would say

"CMOS" isn't actually a thing on modern motherboards (UEFI instead stores settings in flash storage, next to the UEFI code itself), and it's up to motherboard vendors to emulate a CMOS reset when a battery removal is detected - not all boards do this. Look for an "NVRAM clear" or "BIOS reset" jumper or button on the board instead, which is actually meant to actively reset your BIOS settings.

What im trying to do is actually the complete opposite of this, im trying to replace my CMOS battery and preserve the bios settings. I've searched up about this and most results say that i should change it while my pc is turned on. I however also found that you can retain bios settings as long as you dont take more than 1-5 minutes while the old cmos battery is removed. I prefer the latter method but what do you think? Also are there any other precautions to take before doing so? (like pressing the power button or touching the case to remove static electricity)
