Thanks so much for taking the time to show these instructions about the Keurig K-Duo Essentials water filter installation. Exactly what I needed to know.😁
I just bought a Keurig Duo. The cartridge was in a little envelope with a part # on it, but mentioned nowhere in the instructions. I contacted Keurig customer service to see what it's for/how to use it, and they had no idea what I was talking about. They said Keurig did not have any such item or part #. Eventually they said "Tech Support" would call me back within 3 business days to try to help (since I called on a Friday, that probably means next Tuesday or Wednesday, which is terrible service). So thank you for making this video. I for one would have just returned the coffee maker and bought a different brand had I not found your video. Hopefully they appreciate your video too.
Just purchased K Duo the instructions speak of the filter looked everywhere for it in the box! That’s absolutely stupid that it did not come with filter. What a crock. I’ll use it without since I use water that has been filtered! It’ll be ok! Dumb Keurig. I want to complain. However, thank you for the tutorial excellent your voice is so calm.
Thank you so much for this video. I bought a water filter & holder from Amazon and it looks & works exactly like the Keurig brand one and mine came with the top dial date thing but was much cheaper in price than the Keurig brand filter & holder. I compared the one I bought from Amazon to my old Keurig one and everything about it absolutely Identical but like I said much cheaper.
Yes Maria, they should mention what type of water filter it requires with instructions. I had to go on to Keurig site to find out. That's one of the reason I posted this video.
Thank you sooo much for this video, I was wondering what happened to the water filter? I was a little confused on why it didn't come with one.Thank you!
Just purchased the Keurig K Duo and watched this video to learn how to install the water filter. I also bought a Brewer Care Kit. But I do not have that plastic holder that the filter goes into. How do I get one.
Your welcome Dorothy. The filter holder and filter are an option. My first Keurig I never used a filter. I still use this Keurig at my camp and use bottled water and taste fine.
Thank you so much! But the crazy thing is they never gave us the filter apparatus! I don’t get it...we needed to buy that separate? I can’t believe it didn’t come with the machine. 😖 In the cleaning kit we received a new filter (the little pod thingy) and I was trying to figure out where to put it. Crazy, thanks for the info.
Walmart sells these k duo essentials at a lower price they opted not to include the filter and the cleaning pod. This info came from the Keurig help line. Thought it was rather strange that it didn’t come with the the machine.
Just got the K Duo Plus, and it has the tall filter holder. I noticed it doesnt appear to seal in any way, so whats to stop the water flowing under the filter holder?
You can get it directly from Keurig and Wal Mart should carry it as well. Wal Mart www.walmart.ca/en/ip/keurig-water-filter-starter-kit-rear-reservoir-not-applicable/6000198454352 Available on Amazon as well.
There is an internal filter in the K Duo machine under the water tank which is subject to clog from minerals in hard water. I have had two K Duo machines become inoperable due to this internal filter clogging. Keurig does not provide repair parts for these machines and the filter did exactly what it was intended to do: make the machine inoperable to drive sales of new coffee makers. The filter can occasionally be found used on eBay. The other repair option that I recently discovered, which is complicated, is to open the machine and remove the filter. It is not designed to be serviced, so it has to be cut open with a heated exacto knife or other sharp fine blade where the two halves are put together, disassembled and cleaned, then put back together with a plastic welder. I recently repaired one of my K Duos this way and am in process of repairing the other, both machines were less than a year old when this problem occurred. Anyway, my reply is a bit long winded to advise that installing this filter on your machine would be a good idea. When I do have to buy another coffee maker, it will not be a Keurig. I am done with Keurig’s poorly designed and engineered to prematurely fail junk.
If you just get a Brita Water Pitcher and fill the Keurig you will not need this. I've been doing it for years and never have I had to descale. Almost 5 years and counting.

Thank you Susan, for the kind words.
It does come with instructions?

Thanks Jax, the filter is extra lots of people don't use the filter. If your water is filtered I wouldn't buy a filter.
This was a great help! Thanks!

Your welcome,
So when you buy this machine, you can’t even use it until you buy the water filter? That’s messed up.
@@lazyhusband No, its an option. It doesn't come with a water filter. You can use it without the water filter.
I use bottled water. Had no clue about the filter till now
Thank you for this tutorial. I got my Keurig from Costco and came with water filter kit but no instructions, so this was very helpful ☕️
Your welcome Maria.

Just ordered from Keurig. All set. Thanks
I ordered mine directly from Keurig. Wal Mart has them just make sure you get the Keurig K-Duo.
Thank you Jim for the video, by not using a filter & I use bottle water, can not using a filter cause you coffee to taste funny?
Sorry that’s a question?

@@craftymomsandi Purchased my Keurig Duo at Canadian Tire and it did not come with the water filter.
Well my duo didn't come with the filter holder that sits in the reservoir
You usually have to purchase the filter holder and filters separately.
My keurigk-duo, didn’t come with a water filter? Is this normal? Cause I can’t find an answer on it. Please help
Water filter is extra
It doesn't come with a water filter.
I soaked my filter for 5 min and when I took it out to rinse it I noticed the stuff it has inside was coming out 😞 should I buy a new one?
Yes Crystal buy a new one.

Watch my video starting at 4:55. The filter and cartridge snap in place.
Is yours the short holder?
Yes shorter holder. The water reservoir is wider and not as deep so you need the shorter one.
Thank you so much
Your welcome. Glad my video helped.
Does anyone know where to find this specific kit? I’m unable to locate it. Thanks!
You can get it directly from Keurig and Wal Mart should carry it as well.

I forgot I had it soaking and it soaked in water for about an hour and I came back to dark water in the cup, is that a problem?
I would change the filter.
that not a problem its a carbon water filter its from the excess carbon from the filter thats why they tell you to soak it
Thank you
