    My top bolt won't come off. the one at 6:12 time. Any recommendations on how to get it off? I haven't ordered this one yet but I tried to get it off with a drill and a Allen key I have at home.

      You said you used Allen Key to remove bolt. Can you put an extender on Allen key for more leverage, Slightly heat it up with a propane torch and use Vice grips,

    Almost No one talks about using these with stranded wire but they're approved for it. I've heard claims that these lever nuts are great for joining stranded to solid. I Don't agree. I'm on the Ideal bandwagon and I can say I'm not stoked. They don't hold solid or stranded wire securely. I even wrapped one with tape - hot and neutral- and the solid neutral came loose. Took forever to find it because I had changed out other receptacles on the circuit and found my tester saying "Hot/Gnd Rev" and voltage on neutral and ground! I punted and used a wire nut and pre-twisted with my linemans. "Skookum" as AvE says. I also had several times where stranded wire just wouldn't feed. It would get all frayed and became unusable. I ended up cutting and stripping until the pigtail was only maybe 2". This is only an issue bc Leviton thinks they're saving me time by pre-wiring their receptacles with 12 gauge stranded! 🤬🤬 Anyway I kinda figured out that if you keep the strands perfectly straight after stripping and you meticulously make sure every fiber gets in, you can push the wire in slowly, lever OPEN, and it usually holds. But it does NOT inspire confidence at all. Also... The Ideal "snapping into place" seems good but in a tight box they still flip back up sometimes. Honestly it's hard to beat a nicely pre-twisted group of conductors and a wire nut for security.

    • @charlesr1971

      Actually, I just found out that you don’t need a slit in the side of the plastic belt holder. You can just thread the band behind the two vertical slits and all is good.

    Supposed to cut up to a 1/4” bolt yet nobody shows that being done. Be nice to see how large a bolt they can cut. Saw a guy using Knipex bolt cutters to cut johny bolts for mounting toilets but I have no idea which Knipex bolt cutters he was using. Those are the ones I want!

    You think I could get a different bolt length so that it could be comparta bile with the thicker southwest strippers? What bolt size you recon?

    • @jimmclaren3085
      @jimmclaren3085 20 днів тому

      The V cutter is 1/4 inch thick. It depends on where the hole is in your pliers where the bolt goes. If the hole lines up then you have to get larger bolt for the thickness of your pliers. I do show a few different pliers in the video that does not work with the V cutter.

    Changing the filter in a Keurig would be another good video. I think a lot of people either forget or don't even know it's there, and they can get incredibly gross if they're never changed. I have a Cuisinart brand brewer that's similar to this (brew a whole pot or a single with a k-cup). You don't really need the filter unless you have particularly bad tasting or hard water which can cause scaling. I just like to refill mine from a Brita filter pitcher to avoid having to deal with filters in the coffee maker at all.

    if your boards are loose like in your video, couldn't you just spin the pliers around and come at the nail from the other side leaving all the room in the world for your hand? Also, a nail set and a hole in the bench for it to come out will leave you with metal-free wood.
