"If you ever want to field dress a Buick, go with the BK2" - I literally LOL'd there. Great video!
YRS AGO I SCORED AN RTAK 2 FOR 60.00 NEW...AND THEN BAGGED A RAT-5 FOR 63.00.....I THINK PRICE ,WIEGHT,DESIGN TOUGHNESS AND FUNCTION THEY'D STAND WITH ANY OF THOSE ON THE TABLE....THE RAT SERIES BEAT THE KA-BAR HANDS DOWN AS 'SURVIVAL' KNIVES....BUT I STILL LOVED THE VID AND YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE GREATEST OUTDOOR ENDEVOR.....SRVIVAL....PEACEOUT
Good video. Was looking for comparisons because I keep coming back to wanting to purchase an Ontario black bird. Clear ,concise and very knowledgeable
MAN. you really broke it down for someone just awakening to this. Thanks for making it understandable for those of us not as experienced (yet!)
The video was the top 10 for me with my skill set and doesn't apply to everyone, but thanks for watching and sharing your prospective
Great, detailed mini-reviews of all these knives. Helped me find a couple that I want to get for sure. Thanks!
Thanks for this video Adam. As a matter of fact thanks for all of your videos and for all the time and work you put into them. I hold your opinions in very high regards. I have learned a lot from you and really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience. Keep up the good work. You're a huge asset to our community and I truly believe that you have the ability to save people's lives, if you haven't already, through what you teach.
Awesome collection! 3V is truly an amazing steel
Thanks for the input, we will put it on the list of things to look for.
Without a doubt you are the best gear/reviewer survival coach out there. I love your no nonsense demeanor. Every knife you put out there was the best, of that there is no doubt. For years...maybe a decade and a half I have faithfully used an old SRK, and I LIVE in a real wilderness most of the year, so it gets hard, everyday use, the SRK has held up well, no complaints. But recently I switched to a Buck Punk, and I have to admit, I really like it. There are a hundred survival knives out there now, but I wanted to try something different. The Bark River knives were also on my radar as I am from the UP...for $100 the Buck Punk has held up well for the last year or so of hard use, keeps a good edge and resharpens easy. I baton-ed some wood just to test it, no problem, but in general, I don't baton firewood. Just thought I'd mention it. The Martini brand of Finnish Mora type knives are also excellent for about the same $. Thanks!
Yeah they were a steal for sure. It was my first Survive! knife, and I was kind of taking a chance... I'm very glad I did now. I've really grown to like as I've gotten to know him through Facebook a little bit. A great dude producing a great product. I'm happy to support him as much as I can. Wish I could do more.
Nice to see the Mora getting some love. they're always my backup to my backup. Its the knife that I'll use if I'm doing something that will ruin a blade or give to a friend that forgot/lost their knife
Lots of nice high dollar blades but survival knives should be blades that are going to either be on you when crap surprises you or in bug out bags, gloveboxes, trunks and other places like that. 95% of consumers are going to look for value with toughness like the BECKER brand or Ontario's Gen2 line 5160 steel or even Schrade who makes some really good beefy blades for 40$. I would be totally confident taking a Condor Moonshiner into the woods and it only cost 45$. These expensive knives are awesome but I
guarantee that the expensive high end knife market is getting further out of reach for common man. Would I like one of those nice 200$+ knives of course but even if I had the money I honestly rather buy 4 or 5 Gerber Strongarms or 5 Condor Moonshiners & Hudson bay blades.
Don't ya just love making reviews so us know it all's can Monday quarterback your opinions;)
Day-yamn , you ain't kiddin'. When he addressed the first knife as going from $199-$350, I thought: "Who the hell would want use & abuse a knife/knives worth that much?!"
+LEO1WOLF To me, good quality under $150 (I.M.H.O.).
Worth is highly subjective. Some people act like cpm3v is so much better than 1095 and o1 steel but I'm not one of them. I own and have owned several cpm3v knives and while they do hold an edge a little longer I don't see that as a big advantage if you know how to sharpen a knife. Toughness is another claim I don't see.
Son you talk like that. You best type in K55K or Otter Messer.
Your kind won't have a hiccup with my advice right there.
That is if my kinds advice is worth more than. A punk ass city metro sexual trying to talk about tools. I find a lot of that today on UA-cam. People creating pages and they ain't done shit in the woods. Yet they act as if they are a subject matter expert on anything.
Shit man I hunted out of white water canoes. In the winter. My longest trip was 23 days. Before I was 17. Joined the Army and being as I was an Aircrew member on Blackhawks they sent us to SERE.
The 162 is a good knife. Better when the price comes down. Sibert also made the 375 Adamas with Benchmade. You would be hard pressed to find a K-Bar that can beat that knife. Just needs some Kevlar scales in the grip.
Thanks for the suggestion and for watching
Great Video Adam,,,,very complete and accurate talking points. You're a great guy and a class act my friend.!
Phenomenal. I'm going to watch this again just to count how many times you said the word 'phenomenal'. Lol. Phenomenal!
I can't believe I did not order one! $160!? Guy is giving those things away! Great knives.
- Adam
My favorite is the Fallkniven A1. Amazing knife that fits in my hand perfectly, cuts amazing, can chop good, and is all around a strong tool. I'd love to get a Fallknivem TK2.
They are great knives, I hope he gets some more models out, I love the 4.1 and I wish I got a GSO 10. Would love to see a bushcrafter from them.
- Adam
This was the first video i saw about good survival knives!
Great vid... good info, but I'll stick with my handy dandy Buck 119 and 105... they don't rust and when it comes to wood, that's what your ax is for - thanks again!
I thought there would be at least one ESEE. I have the ESEE-5 and really like it! I have a few Mora's and a BK-16 that is pretty cool too, but wouldn't put it in your top ten. Thanks for the video. I have watched it before and it came up in my "watch it again" Q from YT.
Thanks for the input and for watching
Thanks Adam, I love these type videos
you must of said 'phenomenal' close to at least 50 times throughout this video
I just gave away my last A1, it would have been on my least in years past, and may be there in the future, great knife!
- Adam
Way to go, great video, great info! Nice Mora, shows honest use.
I like all kinds of knives and handle many of them, but I'm still drawn to the Moras: they're economical, practical, and they're probably the most tested and reviewed blades, at least on YT. Yes, there are bigger blades for the task, but Moras are hard to beat.
We will put it on the interested list, thanks for watching
Great video. My GSO-4.1 is on the way and I check bladeforums three or four times a day for the GSO-10
Great selection and reasoning. Thanks!!
thank you. i been watching you review but it is hard some times. i like when you have alot of them side by side like this
Thanks for your input
Thanks Adam! Amazing review!
Other words can also be used such as good, great, excellent, practical, amazing, fantastic, terrific, astounding wonderful and of course......phenomenal. Informative thank you.
thanks for the input
Love your channel. Thanks for your work.
Yes you are right. Great knife, the handle is a little small for me that is why I like the Idun a little more.
- Adam
love to see the kabar and mora love . i have used the kbar that my great grandfather gave me as my primary woods/ camping knife for over 30 years and he used it in ww2 when he was in the navy. I am thinking of retiring it for something along the lines of a woodmans pro. and well you cant get more bang for your buck then a mora. hunting, fishing, i even have a set of moras in my home for stake knifes. thanks for the great video.
very good knives but where is the Fällkniven A1? :)
Great video. I own a few 3v blades that I had forged for me. I can tell you right now that they are hands down the best blades I've ever owned or used and I have spent 1000s dollars on more than one custom blade. I'm actually spoiled and it's become VERY hard for me to buy any other knives made from any other steel. I'm so used to never having to worry about sharpening, breaking or babying them in any way, that any other blade will not come close an I own 2 original Battle Mistresses that I use.
Great video , really informative , enjoyed watching thanks !
We will add it to the suggestion list, Thanks for watching
I'm 14 and i have a bk2 i love this knife its good for just about everything.
Great vid, I also like the Enzo trapper in O1 that some one suggested. I got 2 of them in my collection, both of them I got the blade blanks for cheap and did the handles my self.
I have a Diving Sparrow Northern Bushcraft Survival Knife, great blade, forgot to put that on the list! You got one on me! ;)
- Adam
I love your videos, and I am subscribed. I have one thought, not just for you, but for all of you guys that do this type of work. When you get your knives free, and you get top dollar knives, or you manage to pay for them. It doesn't help everybody to tell the maker that he is charging way to little for those knives. For those of us who could maybe swing $200 and he hears that they are worth $400 I guess simple human nature would be to raise the prices. I'm not ragging, I just would like to see some nice quality stuff in a price that I wouldn't have to sell my house to buy.
bashfulbrother I think for everyday carry a good 'economical' knife serves the purpose. I had the same thoughts watching this, if you collect them or are paid to test everything under the sun it's different. Also there is no single purpose knife for all scenarios of course. I respect the knowledge shared here, and thanks for the video.
30 times.... you said "Phenomenal or Phenomenally" 30 times in 21.5 minutes! Extraordinary!
We do love ESEE's, I just have any right now, gave a few away and my buddy has my ESEE 5. The ESEE 5 is a great knife but a lot like the BK-2, just almost three times the price. The ESEE junglas and izula I believe are the best from their line.
- Adam
Anything BHK or LTWK is bomb proof and my favorite. Also love bark river they are a close second!
Time for you to do a 2014 version Adam.!!!
Great, and needed, video! True that Fallkniven is very hard to criticize. Gotta love a maker who goes full tilt boogie on the quality side, and keeps price affordable, at least in the big picture. If I think about what maker gives me the most confidence in helping keep me alive, it is Fallkniven or Busse. Gotta also agree on Mora...Great Value and EVERYONE should have one or three.
The Fallkniven F1 is a great alternative to the Idun. It's not terribly expensive, but still a great knife (especially where rust would occur). Great review!
Thanks, appreciate you watching.
- Adam
Your videos always have quality equipment. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
I have reviewed one way back in the day. I just have not got a chance to get my hands on any. They have some great designs.
- Adam
good picks, I see alot of guys using gladius machetes and stuff which is just about ''look what i've got.''
I personally really like my fallkniven A1 for survival. Also barkriver has some very nice knives. Alot of bushcraft but also alot of survival types.
I like these suggestions. I like my Benchmade 162. it is a good knife.
When you get your hands on the BHK - GNS you will replace the Woodsman Pro on this table. Great handle ergonomics on the GNS. Mick
The BK2 is a beast...right after I bought it, the sheath broke, but I bought a Spec Ops sheath for it and I love it. The knife is hair popping sharp, and I've loved on it so much batoning, chopping, pounding, and prying that most of the coating has rubbed off of the blade and the paracord I had wrapped the blade with had worn out twice. Fantastic blade. I also bought a mora companion a few months ago, and I think its tougher than even you give it credit for. Since I dont really mind if it breaks
awesome content and great vid brother!!
Great video!
Very informative!
Hi buddy wats the blade length on that condor it's beautiful I've got one made it myself handling is perfect weight is perfect and holds an edge forever great job wit ur videos hope to see some more
There is a difference between a convex edge and a convex grind. I was referring to the edge or secondary bevel, not the primary bevel or "grind". Thanks for watching.
Thank you for making this video!
phenomenal count Dracula hair style sir
Hi Adam! It would be nice to see a 2016 recap to see if things have changed. Did some other knives surpassed one in this video! Take care!
Love your list, but my favourite is the Fallkniven S1 :) And due to me not liking the handle, i bought the soon-to-be-discontinued blank and slapped my own scales on it and made a nice sheath accomodating a DC3 (which does sharpen it well) a firesteel, and tinder, cordage and a Victorinox Camper :)
If I had a choice, I would still stick with my Busse ASH1, but I grabbed two of the GSO-10's and they're amazing. For such an large knife/chopper/machete, it's very manageable. I was going to buy the GSO 5.1 and 4.1 but I can easily see myself sticking with the GSO-10 for anything that would or could come up.
ESEE's are great, I just don't have any right now, gave a few away and my buddy has my ESEE 5. The ESEE 5 is a great knife but a lot like the BK-2, just almost three times the price. The ESEE junglas and izula I believe are the best from their line.
- Adam
Good video Adam!
Great video lots of good information thanks for sharing atb John
thanks for your prospective
People, if you don't love the BK2 because of its heft, try a Condor Rodan. Nice vid Adam.
I do love Charlie May, the OSK is a great knife.
- Adam
We will add it to the list of things to look into.......Thanks for watching.
Nice video Brother Adam! God Bless!
We are big fans of the SRK in Carbon V, just not as much on the newer models. Thanks for watching
THUMBS UP !! Awesome review..LOVE dat MORA !! CHeers Adam and E2E Crew
Love those Survive knives!
Damn, I have a pudgy after watching that vid!!! What a great set of blades for sure!!! Keep up the gr8 work Adam!!!
Dude, liked very much your vid. But could you post the list of the knifes, I dont get some names. Thanks
Nice I like my Swamp Rat Warden thick small and quick attached to my kydex and Aranyik Enep k-1 awesome knife kit
They are both capable of assisting a person with most survival related tasks they would endeavor to complete. The question is, which knife suits that individual best, and that is a question the individual will have to answer. No way for someone else to know what fits you best, only that the quality and capability is present in the tool for it to be a option to try. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Thanks for posting.
I miss the Falkniven A1 in your collection!
one more little followup rant, I get the placement of the Mora (or all mora's), and the USMC, though I don't know if they hold the place on this list that they would have even 10 years ago, never held the IDUN, but i love the A1, A2, S1 and F1 Fallknivens so I imagine its a hard knife to fault. two of my other faves are the TOPS B.O.B. Fieldcraft, and the the ever contraversial TB TRACKER (since if used properly is a phenominal survival tool). That is all. keep up the good work!
depends on the environment and application
Another great video.
I like the selections. You can't please everyone.
Thanks i lookd at the condor rodan it doesnt have any reviews on the page but i will look on youtube and thank you again
The most underrated aspect of any knife is blade geometry... At this point i really only use convex blades, even if i have to re-profile them.
I love high-end production blades with CPM steel, but practically speaking, a full convex edge will outperform a flatgrind 9 times out of 10.
It's amazing how inadequacies in the steel can be overcome by giving a knife the right blade geometry.
Great vid Adam. Have you ever had any experience with the Buck Punk? It might hold up to some of those.
(Cont.) I took it out and batoned straight through a small tree and batoned a large log into small firewood, and the only problem I've had was with the spine being dented because I couldn't find my batoning stick at the moment and I used the BK2 to baton lol. Great knife.
hey adam. great review, thumb up!! i want to buy one of those knife but where i should look to value those knife.
Thank Adam, Really useful video. What do ypu think of an ESEE on that table?
Hi there. Great video. How come the BOB was not evaluated?
great to hear
I would pick the ESEE 6 before the 5. Both great knives though.
- Adam
Great vid... I'm not sure if I will ever need to repel down a mountain with one of my knives, but it is nice to know which ones are capable of holding my weight lol
