  • These fabric luggage tags have a built-in privacy cover. Made from cotton fabric, clear vinyl, and some fusible interfacing along with a clever little buttonhole. The loop slides through the buttonhole, providing a cover or privacy screen for your contact information.
Inside the luggage tag you will find a clear vinyl window where you can insert a business card or a card with your contact information.

    ✂️ MATERIALS NEEDED
    - Cotton fabric
    - 12 or 14 gauge clear vinyl
    - fusible interfacing (Pellon SF101)
    - matching thread
    ✂️ TOOLS & EQUIPMENT NEEDED
    - scissors
    - rotary cutter
    - self-healing mat
    - acrylic ruler
    - wonder clips
    - buttonhole foot
    - fabric marking pen
    ✂️ FABRIC CUTS
    (2) 4"W x 11-3/4"H fabric for exterior and lining
    (2) 4"W x 5-1/2"H fabric for window pocket and lining
    (1) 4"W x 5"W clear vinyl
    (1) 1-1/2"W x 4"H fabric for window binding
    (1) 1-1/2"W x 12"H fabric for loop (strap)
    ✂️ NOTE:
If you are not using the pattern, you will also need to cut the corners of the exterior fabric and lining pieces (as well as the fusible interfacing). In this case, I recommend you fuse the interfacing to the two 4"x11-3/4" pieces of fabric first. And then trim the corners as follows: Measure 1" over from the side and make a mark. Measure 1" down from the top and make a mark. Draw a diagonal line from the top mark down to the side mark. Repeat with the other corner and the other piece of fabric. Cut the corners along these marked lines.
1/2" seam allowances unless otherwise noted.

I like the view outside. Its fall, and all the leaves on ground. Thank you for the video.

Thx for the very clear instructions. I think if I were going to make a batch of these, I would iron the interfacing to a large piece of fabric before cutting. This would save time and I could cut out pieces for several at a time. penny for your thoughts.
-I’m also concerned if the loop is long enough to loop it onto the luggage. Can you show one attached to luggage?

Yes, the loop is long enough to loop it onto the luggage. I have my luggage stored away for now, but will try to get a picture when I get them back out of storage this summer.
I also thinking fusing the interfacing to the fabric before cutting would be a great time saver! The only thing to consider is that the interfacing will make your seam allowance a little bulkier.

Addendum to my prior comment: Just finished my first luggage tag. It does loop onto my luggage very nicely, the strap is plenty long so no worries.

How do you attach it to your luggage?

I attach it to one of the handles. Slip the loop end of the tag under the handle, so that the tag is about middle ways through the handle. Then fold the loop up and insert the tag end through the loop. Then just pull on the tag to tighten onto the handle.

It's been a couple of hours since I signed up for your pattern, twice, and have not received the email. I checked my junk mail and it's not there.

Thanks for letting me know! There was a problem with the email delivery. I think the issue has been resolved. If you previously requested the pattern, you should have received an email for the pattern in the last few minutes. Please check your email and let me know if you do not receive the Luggage Tag Pattern. Thanks, again!
