    Just finished my first of 15 reading pillows I'm making for Christmas gifts for great niece/nephews. The instructions and video were very helpful! Pillow went together without any issues - thanks for such a great tutorial!!

    Thanks so much! Great video and easy to understand instructions. Love the idea to curve the corners. I am curious as to how you cut the fabric the same size of your pillow. It obviously works, but I thought I had to cut it a little larger to accommodate seams.

    • @hooked-on-sewing
      @hooked-on-sewing  Рік тому +1

      You can cut the pillow cover a little larger or large enough to allow for seams. But I have found if I cut the pillow cover to the same size as the pillow insert that the pillow is much fuller. This is also the reason I allow for a generous sized envelope closure on the back. If not, then the pillow ends up sticking out in the back. It’s really just a personal preference. And I guess how firm the insert is that you’re using.
      I typically buy my inserts on Amazon or at JOANN and they are not very firm. So, if I’m using a 16” pillow insert, I cut my fabrics 16” wide.
      Hope this answers your question.

    Have you considered making a video of this lined?

    • @hooked-on-sewing
      @hooked-on-sewing  Місяць тому

      That's a good question. I have made the reading pillow where it is lined. I only sewed the lining as basically the backing for the front since that is what I quilted.
      I do have a tutorial "in the works" for sewing the reading pillow with a tie closure and one with a zipper closure. If you aren't using directional fabric, you could even simply the pattern by cutting one piece of fabric for the front and back of the pillow cover. So many options....
      If there's something in particular you'd like to see, let me know and I'll see what I can do! Again, thanks for asking!

      Glad the video was helpful. I’m wearing an Apple Watch. I love my watch! It’s super handy and the display is very clear.

      Hi, Kathy. Are you referring to the fox roasting a marshmallow design? I purchased it from Embroidery Library: www.emblibrary.com/EL/Products.aspx?Catalog=Emblibrary&ProductID=M26090
