    I've carried POM for almost 2 years now. I would recommend it highly. During a test of it, I took a residue from the spray nozzle and put some barley in my nose. Just that little bit, put me down for 15 minutes. Crazy stuff. I've given it to my girlfriend and my mom. Great tool.

    Unless avoiding cross contamination is a very high priority - avoid gel formulations. They take way too long to take effect (30 sec to 2 min) compared to stream/cone/fog delivery which is almost instant.

    • @glenmones713
      @glenmones713 3 роки тому +35

      Avoid the gel formulations... You must get the gel directly into the attackers eyes... There is no atomization of the gel which means it will not affect his respiratory.. which means with gel you lose half the performance

    What I've done with cans with weak flip tops to make them more suitable for pocket carry is tape the cap down with a piece of painters tape and heavily perforate the tape by puncturing many small holes in it. I can break the perforated tape with my thumb when if I ever have to use it and I feel a bit more comfortable with it in pocket.

      That's actually a great idea and something that I'm going to greatly test to make sure that doesn't impede use in any way. Ive concealed carry for years and feel if you're carrying a lethal weapon then it's mandatory that you also carry nonlethal as well. The Sabre red mini is what I carry most due to its tiny size and ability to still spray continuously at 12 feet. It's usually always in my left pocket and there's been a few times where I go to unload everything on my edc tray once home and I've noticed that the twist head was either between the on and off setting or the on setting. Luckily it takes good pressure to set the little thing off but it's still always bothered me to the point where I find myself constantly making sure it's not been twisted to on position. Thanks for the idea!

I got badly assaulted in my apartment I was hit like 20 times standing up then when I hit the floor my computer fell and made a loud bang my mom heard it in her apartment and she came over to mine and I was getting kicked and stomped over and over. He pulled back and ran at me to kick me right in the side of the head. Then my mom hit his leg out of the way and I was able to Remember I had that spray in my pocket and I sprayed him and it saved me. I had to have eye surgery done my orbital was fractured twice and I'm still having eye problems to this day. Still waiting for it to go to trial. But Spray works and everyone should carry a can.

    I'm stuck with Sabre Red because of availability in Boston. Make sure you compensate for the angle. It shoots upwards, which I bet was intended because that way it droops DOWN into their eyes from the hair... but the effect is delayed. Nevertheless, it's still a non-lethal means to blind your attacker and for only $10 to $13 it's absolutely worth buying multiple bottles.

    This is my first time seeing your channel, By showing how the various products deploy, It can help someone determine what they may need in defensive situations, I've been using Sabre products for 40 years, They are the only ones that I purchase and recommend, My current inventory includes the Sabre quick release keychain 3-1 spray, the Crossfire Gel and the Model # M-120L POLICE MAGNUM 3-1 spray, as you probably know they use the HPLC to test their products, In my experience, Its important to know how it's going to deploy and the effective range, It is to a great advantage if you catch someone quickly and with open eyes, This is some wicked stuff and is very capable of defeating an aggressor, Of course there are subjects that may not respond to the effects as much, do to mental states and /or certain drugs, Thanks for posting. And I was a little upset I flipped him off. And that was it. Well this guy a 6’ 2” 250lb dude a nurse on top of that comes rushing at me from out of his car fists Balled. And rushes shouting “ you want to throw your fingers at people?! I’ll show you”. So as he’s 6in away I push him back to make distance and I tell him to back off. So he rushed again and I held him back with my left arm he begins grabbing me by my arm. I reached for my Sabre Red MK3 gel unit. As He continues trying to push and grab at me. So I deployed it. And it worked instantly. This guy had the audacity to start shouting that I assaulted him and that I over reacted. Uhm yea okay buddy why are attacking people? I’m glad I sprayed him before he did anything else. Unfortunately living in CA you almost have to let someone harm you before you can justify self defense! It’s ridiculous. Police showed up and treated me like I was the bad guy because this jerk was crying that he got doused. Luckily there were cameras and I was let go without repercussion.

    honestly consider what role it has for you in self defense and how important it is to have something to make an attacker stop without lethal force or physical interaction. especially if you carry something lethal then de-escalation needs to be priority. I have had to deploy some cans from Mace Brand Police strength and honestly it didnt work well but worked enough. even if its a little bulky that seemingly big can feels small once you actually need it.
    from now on im carrying non gel and big cans I can get off my waist easy and always practicing with them. seriously run 2 to 3 cans in a safe outdoor area to understand how they actually shoot and when to deploy them, and if you get a new kind do it with that one too, your safety is worth it.

    I wish people also realize that pepper spray that isn't in a stream doesn't work well when you are downwind. I was sitting outside at a local grill enjoying my rainbow trout that I had waited half an hour to sit down and almost an hour to be served my order. Table next to me had some kind of altercation, started with crass vocalization till someone threw a glass of whatever beverage on a woman and then became a push and shove event. Long story short, the woman fired off some kind of fog spray and it ended up in her face that sent her screaming and falling down, into my face, and into the face of an elderly gentleman eating on another nearby table. I was choking on spit and snot and my eyes felt like they were sandblasted, I focused on breathing, counting it. Police showed up, paramedics showed up. A bunch boots on the lounge deck. From where I don't know, my vision was blurred for about an hour or so. a bunch of us got our eyes flushed with saline, which kind of helped, the poor old gentleman one table over was in severe respiratory distress and he and his wife left by gurney wearing an oxygen mask.
    The one time in my life I wasn't charged for medical saline was the day I was pepper sprayed for no reason whatsoever. I just happened to be downwind.

    Sabre red is by far the strongest I've ever come across by a LONGSHOT. I help teach and train a hands-on defensive class as well as teach my own cc and pistol fighting 1-3. Often we'll test the different sprays, gels and fogs in our class. After showing how the sprays work and demonstrating the difference between the gels, sprays & fogs and then we clear the class area for lunch break for 45 minutes. Usually that's more than enough time for the large room to air out. The first time we tested Sabre red it litteraly cleared the entire room out instantly. I was about 10 feet behind our class teacher and almost immediately it was like the oxygen was sucked out of the room and my eyes and throat were on fire. No other brand we've tested have come close to such an immediate effect and the room needed to be evacuated for over an hours time with the back door open to the outside with fans directing inside air out. Poms never done this nor any other brand and nomatter what brand we try in gel form it usually doesn't even cause contact nomatter how much we spray. We almost always advise people to not get the gel formulas primarily due to the fact of how long it takes to take effect even if landed immediately on the face. I pray I never end up on the wrong side of Saber red. I still can't believe how it effected the environment we were in.... It seriously was like all the air was sucked out of the room and you could no longer breathe. If that shit got even on my clothing I'd probably be screwed...

      Orange Mountain is spot on here. Better to be safe than sorry and replace it. However, I am putting out a text video in the next few weeks where I compare an expired can vs a new can and the old can did work just fine. You can hold on to the old can as a backup.

    Why is MACE brand pepper spray not included in your testing?

    Now if only Amazon would ship to SC. They did so last year, none of these are illegal, but they won't.

      They won't to NV either. I went to my local Sportsman Warehouse.

    Would any of these be effective on animals during hikes?

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  2 роки тому +1

      They would probably be effective against small animals like dogs, coyotes, bobcats etc but I would go with bear spray if you are worried about bears/ mountain lions etc..

    You should make another one of these videos, not all of these products are available anymore. I really wanted to buy the last one but I can’t find it, or anything similar to it, anywhere

    Def need to pick something good up for California usage. (2.5 oz max) Price is no concern. Some crazy guy started attacking this couple in a car next door at work this morning, as soon as they fled he walked torwards our shop and started getting all crazy to us for no reason and started swinging at me. Pulling a gun was the last thing I wanted to do even tho I would’ve been in the right. But giving him some hot sauce would’ve been pretty sweet. Luckily I submitted him and had to wait 10 mins for the cops to show.

    Thanks for making the video! I liked the pom until I realized it was clear... Seems like it's harder to see when spraying as well. Think I'm going with the Sabre.

      Sabre RED .. avoid the gel.. the gel does not atomize so you must get it directly into the perps eyes .. since gel does not vaporize like the liquid. You're losing half of your effectiveness...sabre red all the way
