I used the spray one on a bad guy once. And I sprayed him for a good 10-seconds. As soon as it hit his face, he closed his eyes hard, and grabbed his shirt to wipe his face. Since his eyes were closed he couldn't see that I continued spraying the shirt, the part he was putting to his face, so he effectively wiped more of it all over and into his eyes. He grabbed another, cleaner part of his shirt, and I soaked that too. Worked like a charm. Although, a lot of spray got in the air and me and others had burning eyes and coughs too. But we were still able to see, and walk away before he could.

Briefly in the Army, I ran the tear gas range. Saw and felt the effects on me and the guys going through. Then in Vietnam I had heard that we were using tear gas(?), grenades and/or drums. My immediate reaction was to question how effective it was. Soooo. My camp was outside the city and we had a 500 meter range for training. From pistols to anti-tank LAW, and even had a tank in one day. A large impact area to mess around in. I'd say that from our camp out past the range, it was hazardous out a couple kilometers. You may be in that 5% to 10% that pepper spray has no effect on. Also, keep in mind that gels and foams require a few seconds to take effect and that's why some experts don't recommend them.
thank you sir for making this video. i just got mine red sabre gel pepper spray since i will start riding the bus to work and i just hope i wont have to use it on anyone. i cant picture myself in a situation where i have to use pepper spray. terrifying.
I like the sabre 3 in 1. Sprayed it and i don't know why i went to smell it and it screwed me bad i was coughing for 20 minutes and it burned my troath.
Thanks for taking one for the team by getting sprayed. Appreciate that. As for doing the test under the tent though........I thought the whole idea of the gel VS. spray was how well they do in some wind conditions. Seems like the test should NOT have been under the tent in my opinion. I did learn some things so thanks!
You may have just saved some people from bodily harm. Spray and move for sure. I have Sabre Red spray and heard it's the fastest acting, but will not get overconfident with it's ability. Anything that buys me time is worth it though.
Pepper is about burning you eyes skin. CS is about locking up your breathing. Two totally different things, but some canisters mix the two. Prefer pepper gel as it puts more product on target with no blow back.
@@mygoldfishrocks You are right. Gel takes even longer than that to work! What's worse than that is the attacker can just use their hand and wipe it off their face and throw it back at you! The gel is almost like a liquid jelly. It's best to get the spray and make sure it's the stream version. Don't buy this pepper spray because it is NOT strong enough.
The gel wasn’t used how it’s intended to be used. It should be a 1-2 second dispersement while going across the face twice to ensure that the eyes are saturated with the gel. He just got a light amount and it didn’t get in the eyes. It only dripped down towards the eyes later on.
Solid video! I think the paper plate/rag may have been absorbing the pepper spray and causing it to not continue aerosolizing or at least slowing the rate Also, I'm willing to bet that the pepper gel and even the spray are formulated to vaporize at around 98°F so that the bad guy's skin heats up the pepper spray/gel I'd also be curious as to whether or not you eat a lot of spicy foods on the regular? You handled that pepper spray like a CHAMP!
I recently sprayed the spray on a brick wall outside and had the same effect as him. But it was only 50 degrees outside. I would be interested if it does take heat to aerosolize like the old CN mace used to.
I don’t think OC vaporizes. In hot peppers you can cut them open and they can sit there for a week and they will not lose any heat, and smelling them won’r burn your nose at all, but if you get the juice in your mouth, nose, or eyes it is horrible. If you do smell where it landed and it burns that is probably from some small aerosol particles hanging around.
I got both to test out as well... I went out on a windy day and sprayed them upwind on purpose to experience how bad the blowback was. I actually found that I had more blowback with the gel than the spray... I think the gel is too thick to flow smoothly through the small nozzle, so it atomizes more into mist than the less viscous spray solution. Ironically that's the complete opposite of what it's supposed to be, but that's what I experienced... looks like you did as well on that one towel spray that made you cough. As such, I still prefer the liquid over the gel. I like how it flows down over the face faster as well.
Really helpful video. Recently bought the gel spray and wasn’t sure if I had chose the wrong one but really glad with my purchase after watching your video.
I sprayed a little in my sink, the gel, and then licked it to see if it had a real peppery taste...oh boy. About four seconds later my mouth, eyes and lungs were in a state of flux. Defiantly try to get it in the assailants mouth if you're gonna use it.
I carry the Saber aim pepper gel gun. It's a lot easier to deploy and aim than a regular canister of pepper spray or gel. It also depends on how old the pepper spray or gel is.
Great video. I appreciate you taking that hit and glad it wasn't me. Thank you for the info. I usually carry the Sabre Gel in the jogger band when walking my little dog.
Thanks for the video... I picked some cayenne peppers from my garden and like and idiot I forgot and rubbed my eyes...man it was rough.. when I was able to get to the fridge I grabbed the milk and took a milk facial..if this is sprayed into a bad guys eyes it WILL stop him..again thanks so much
I deployed the gel yesterday at a would be assailant, and though it DID hit him in the side of the face(quite liberally) and it did make him retreat down the street, it DOES have a delayed effect. You want to spray and get away. Sidestep. Only thing I'm not certain on is the after effects and the potency, because the individual ran away. I do, however, expect to see him again, as I live on a very rough street in a very, very rough neighborhood. I'll let you know if I find out how well it works on the assailant.
I would say it has at least a 10 second delayed effect if not a little more. Assume 10-15 to be safe, and remember: Spray and Move! Good luck to you, friend.
Scary, because when I was gassed in basic training in the military decades ago, it took Everyone down. This video showed me it may not have the stopping power I thought it had! And what if the attacker has eyeglasses/sunglasses on? Probably looses even more effectiveness .I was told by a Sabre rep when I called inquiring about Sabre Red vs Sabre pepper gel for runners that they had the same potency. I sort of question that. Also noted in demo videos that the person being attacked always had the canister in hand. Really? How many times have You seen people walking with pepper spray in their hands? Obvious higher risk situations, yes, but that's not when attacks always happen. Take it out of your purse, or pocket even, be in a position where you can effectively spray it and assume he hasn't hit you or knocked around/down already. There's Alot of "if's" there! I wonder if it is providing a false sense of security?
I put mine on it's own key chain, which has a 2" metal photo disk attached. I stick the disk in my waistband (under my shirt), so it's hanging by my right hand at all times.
You are one of the smarter ones. This Sabre Red is NOT strong enough to take down an aggressive attacker or an aggressive dog! It took like 15 seconds for it to take effect. Don't buy this! You should buy something much better and stronger and yes keep the pepper spray in your pocket or in your hand in dangerous situations. Want any suggestions with a better pepper spray?
The gel. In the video I said that I would change to the gel when I replaced the spray, but I'm rethinking that. The spray gets more coverage and I'm thinking that's what I want verses the gel which was more precise.
I just picked up the saber gel with runners hand strap on a whim at wally world, I think it may be effective against dogs that might get ideas about attacking me when I go for walks.
These sprays can be bought at Wal-Mart I have 2 of them I always carry. For Self defense a lot of people have guns in their car which is scary. I don't have no money to walk around with a gun.
I honestly wonder what kind of pepper spray they use in prison bekuz that stuff is DEADLY.. idc what u do even if u smell 👃 it the WHOLE ENTIRE POD is coughing up their lungs 🫁. While these 2 sprays aren’t showing me any of that Great video!!
The spray will mist out which is a problem if it's windy or you're indoors...effecting innocent bystanders. Also the gel STICKS to the face. And for full effect you need to bless the deserving with a cross; back and forth up and down. I know this from real world experience.
So, what's your opinion about the overall effectiveness of the gel, following your "blessing" technique? (Which I found to be extremely helpful, and will ABSOLUTELY be using.)
The lesson I learned from this is aim for the mouth. Easier to attack when your seeing is impaired than it is to attack when your breathing is impaired.
About 5 years ago in my state of Massachusetts they legalized pepper spray and you don't need a firearm license to have it anymore and I just realized that. You still cannot get it mailed to you in Mass, you have to find it in a store and it looks like my local target has it. I've always known one day I am going to buy a ton and give them out to my friends so I will be making a target run very soon! Still cannot put it in your carry on and I travel a lot and I only ever have a carry on so that sucks because I feel as though my chances of getting attacked is higher when I'm traveling and out doing more things. I travel to California a lot and have friends who live there so I will keep a stash at their house for when I'm there and for them to have. Thank you for the informative video!

You may be in that 5% to 10% that pepper spray has no effect on. Also, keep in mind that gels and foams require a few seconds to take effect and that's why some experts don't recommend them.
thank you sir for making this video. i just got mine red sabre gel pepper spray since i will start riding the bus to work and i just hope i wont have to use it on anyone. i cant picture myself in a situation where i have to use pepper spray. terrifying.
I'm glad I got the spray. Probably easier for someone working in law enforcement to use the gel because they (you) have some experience.
Nah man you want the gel
Respect for actually being sprayed!
The gel is better when the wind is a factor, the gel is also much better in a crowd. The sticky stream is more precise
Thank you, Sir! Just passed this on to two people that I hope may benefit from your presentation. Thanks again!
Pepper is about burning you eyes skin. CS is about locking up your breathing. Two totally different things, but some canisters mix the two. Prefer pepper gel as it puts more product on target with no blow back.
Best video on YT. Thank you. Was confused after watching other videos.
Thank you. This deserves 100 likes.
The problem with gel is it takes a little bit to kick in, whereas the spray is immediate for the most part.
But I thought he did use the spray, but it still took several seconds to kick in.
I'm glad you're ok and I'm grateful for the effort you put into posting this video. But I'm not crazy about you being able to see 15 minutes later.
Thanks for testing it out and being savage! I am including a small portion in a video I'll have out on Friday.
“All we want are the , ” -Sgt. Joe Friday (Dragnet). Great video.
I like the spray all over not direct hit because they moved the head
Solid video!
I think the paper plate/rag may have been absorbing the pepper spray and causing it to not continue aerosolizing or at least slowing the rate
Also, I'm willing to bet that the pepper gel and even the spray are formulated to vaporize at around 98°F so that the bad guy's skin heats up the pepper spray/gel
I'd also be curious as to whether or not you eat a lot of spicy foods on the regular? You handled that pepper spray like a CHAMP!
Raised on SouthEast Louisiana food
I recently sprayed the spray on a brick wall outside and had the same effect as him. But it was only 50 degrees outside. I would be interested if it does take heat to aerosolize like the old CN mace used to.
I don’t think OC vaporizes. In hot peppers you can cut them open and they can sit there for a week and they will not lose any heat, and smelling them won’r burn your nose at all, but if you get the juice in your mouth, nose, or eyes it is horrible. If you do smell where it landed and it burns that is probably from some small aerosol particles hanging around.
Wow you are such a juggernaut & such a lovely man helping us out by getting sprayed!!! Soooooo much loveeeee!!! Stay safe out there
Killer vid bro! I keep a Sabre Gel in both of my trucks. Its good to know I bought the right one....
You won't get that instantaneous burst like the spray but you won't be wondering if you're going to die if you get attacked on a windy/wet day
I sprayed a little in my sink, the gel, and then licked it to see if it had a real peppery taste...oh boy. About four seconds later my mouth, eyes and lungs were in a state of flux. Defiantly try to get it in the assailants mouth if you're gonna use it.
Your supposed to aim for the eyes then move down to the Knoise and mouth
I carry the Saber aim pepper gel gun.
It's a lot easier to deploy and aim than a regular canister of pepper spray or gel.
It also depends on how old the pepper spray or gel is.
If that stream was a direct hit in the eyes, that would be a different story.
Great video. I appreciate you taking that hit and glad it wasn't me. Thank you for the info. I usually carry the Sabre Gel in the jogger band when walking my little dog.
thank you for doing this bud. You helped teach me about these devices quite a bit.
Thanks for taking one in the eyes for science on behalf of your viewers.
He only got sprayed once lol. I certified and she sprayed me with 3 lines of that saber lol. I was down for 30 minutes, got in my ears to.
Just because you put it on your face I gave you a like for this video
I can't find the spray anywhere. I went and bought 2 gels today, and now I'm just nervous about my aim.
Thanks for the video... I picked some cayenne peppers from my garden and like and idiot I forgot and rubbed my eyes...man it was rough.. when I was able to get to the fridge I grabbed the milk and took a milk facial..if this is sprayed into a bad guys eyes it WILL stop him..again thanks so much
Excellent review. Really informative. Subscribed.
Thank you for getting sprayed for us 💓💓💓💓 very useful video💓💓💓
Thanks for watching
Did you get sprayed with the gel or with the spray? I hear that pepper gel has delayed effect (compared to pepper spray), want to know if that's true.
I believe that it as the gel
@@kotadraper2714 Thank you for your review. Stay safe!
Great job! First time buyer here, and they sold the spray.
Thanks for taking one for the team
Tear gas is different than pepper spray
It took everyone down wym?
I put mine on it's own key chain, which has a 2" metal photo disk attached. I stick the disk in my waistband (under my shirt), so it's hanging by my right hand at all times.
You are one of the smarter ones. This Sabre Red is NOT strong enough to take down an aggressive attacker or an aggressive dog! It took like 15 seconds for it to take effect. Don't buy this! You should buy something much better and stronger and yes keep the pepper spray in your pocket or in your hand in dangerous situations. Want any suggestions with a better pepper spray?
I like the gel version better, more power, more accuracy.
Which one did you get sprayed with?
The gel. In the video I said that I would change to the gel when I replaced the spray, but I'm rethinking that. The spray gets more coverage and I'm thinking that's what I want verses the gel which was more precise.
@@ForrestSmith ok
Wow thanks .... need to know because Im going use this for dogs that try to bite
I just picked up the saber gel with runners hand strap on a whim at wally world, I think it may be effective against dogs that might get ideas about attacking me when I go for walks.
Which one is better? I'm planning on getting few of these for my friends and i.
Are these 1.33 MC like Sabe Red Cross Fire (2m SHU, 1.33% MC)? I'm debating on getting this or UDAP bear spray (3.3m SHU, 2% MC).
Thanks for this video! I think I will puechase the spray over the gel.
Lol love to see the video of the guy rubbing it back onto you
The gell is transferrable like you can spray the guy and he can take it's off and rub it into your eyes
Seen it happen in a fight lol
Very good comparison.
And you have to factor 1 little spray, vs a CO emptying a big can.
I wonder how this would work when the person getting maced covers their face and/or there is some wind factor involved.
Whoa! That is a real commitment to a product review, Forrest! #New Subscriber here, man!
10:11 I wasnt hoping anything. Open mind equal good results .
That's definitely taking one for the team!
Thanks for the review!
I perfer gel spray in a windy environment will blow back in your face where as gel doesnt or atleast as bad
Super super helpful! Thank you!!!
Pete has a really cool tshirt. Nice one Pete
Pete always has cool shirts
The lesson I learned from this is aim for the mouth. Easier to attack when your seeing is impaired than it is to attack when your breathing is impaired.
Forrest you are a wild man!!!
In the thumbnail, you don't look pepper sprayed, you look stoned! Lol
LOL yup
Most excellent presentation. I agree with going gel.
Very helpful instructional video; thank you.
Good man
About 5 years ago in my state of Massachusetts they legalized pepper spray and you don't need a firearm license to have it anymore and I just realized that.
I feel your pain., I live in Navada, on the border of the Peoples Republic of Califorina. Pepper Spray is a great way to even the odds in your favor. Thanks for watching.
I love in Massachusetts as well and I heard about how they legalized it too.
Have you tried Pom
m OC spray and if so do you recommend it?
Brother, thanks for taking one for the human team.😎
The whole purpose of the Gel's invention is that it is better in the wind than the spray would be. That was not displayed in the video.
I agree. I could have done a better job showing that.
Why you Cryin'? lol
Great review!
This is so useful. Thank you!
Great video!
“That’s not bad….it’s, OUCH !!”
😂😂😂😂
Need second test. Give attacker a piece of sidewalk chalk for a knife and let him go after the person with the OC spray.
Paul Blart, Mall Cop taking one for the team. Well done bud!
