100%!! Driving the Sport in Normal mode vs Sport mode - it's like a completely different car. Although Normal mode "can be" fast if you punch it hard, but Sport mode is quick all the time.
As an Arteon owner, I find it very odd that the car in this test appeared to fall on its face very quickly after launch in every race. Especially considering the main reason i bought my Arteon is because my buddy bought a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0T that was putting my previous car to shame. I find it odd because we have the opposite results of this test. He's quite a bit faster than me off the line, but i typically begin to pull on him in the back half.
@-Can Ameri- the accord stock still walks the charger.... the statement doesnt change modded or not and the arteon too, they are both way heavier than the accord
At 40k the dodge and vw would have already have check engine light on, leaks of some sort, or electrical issues, Accord would still be like brand new!! Hondas are still great cars. 💪
If they did this same race against the 2022+ Arteon, the outcome would be much different. They beefed up the engine 32hp and the torque 37lb-ft plus they changed the transmission to the same DSG format found in the Golf GTI & R and Audi S/RS Series vehicles and that dct makes a WORLD of difference. New 0-60 numbers are around 4.8secs stock. Put premium 93oct fuel and you're already around 320+hp and 330+lb-ft of torque with no tune or bolt ons. I even drove a 2023 myself and believe me they are FAST!
Because some people live in snow placed and opt to buy a awd v6 charger. I personally like the comparison since nobody ever compares the V6 versions of the charger. 🤷
@@trialbygaming4588 from what I've read the biggest problem with the V6 is the rear end gearing. I am curious to see if the V6 charger can give the accord a run. 🤔
@@dnegel9546 I think even with the RWD v6 the accord will mop it, buy I feel it would be a closer race downlow, but no matter what once that turbo kicks in full throttle it'll pass the charger
The Honda Accord 2.0t wins almost all the online drag races. It even beat the Acura TLX with the 2.0 turbo and SH-AWD. And it beat the 290 HP Hyundai Sonata from a dig (the Sonata beats the Accord in a roll test).
I happen to have an accord 2.0t myself and I can say this is 100% true ! For a family sedan it’s a very quick car and for it to be a FWD it’s still a very good capable car I love Honda for it.
Honda does special things with their engines. I have an 18 year old accord V6 coupe 6-speed at 240 factory HP that's upped to about 270 with aftermarket exhaust, air filter and does 13.8 in the quarter and 5.8 seconds 0-60....doing those numbers now, 18 years later, lol!
i got the same car but mines is the sedan. i love those 7th gen accord. it’s probably the only car that honda has ever offered with a v6 manual in sedan.
That's what happens when the competition innovates and Dodge thinks that Americans will fawn over a V6 even when it gets walked by a FWD Accord. Also doesn't help that the thing weighs half a ton more than the Accord.
Let's see a type R go against the hellcats or scat pack or even an RT for that matter no replacement for displacement. People got to be raining on someone's parade all the time if you don't have something good to say why you say anything at all?
@@colbycraig8418 you say there's no replacement for displacement yet the video shows a 2 liter turbo walking all over a much bigger V6. You sound really mad. Do you own a Charger?
That was a whole purpose of the matchup! All vehicles similarly matched with displacement and power. Honda can bring in it’s big brother the NSX and smoke everything with a dodge badge and VW can use a multitude of vehicles in it’s array as it’s big brother to represent the group and the same results will ensue.
I was impressed when I switched to the accord 2.0T touring from the civic 1.5T CVT. It’s literally in a different level and it’s blowing my brain once I hit the sport mode and the damper system is engaging so well that I completely feel how firmly and power of the vehicle. Wow I’m so happy with my decision .I just bought my 2021 Honda Accord sport 2.0t two weeks ago it is truly fan can to drive yet reliable and family friendly
Other than the speculation that Honda understated the Accords horsepower it would have won based on the numbers anyway, the Accord is 500lbs lighter than the other 2 and is FWD (less drive-train loss, more power to the wheels, even though it had a few bad launches it was able to catch the Arteon with ease. Always think twice when you pull up to a light to this grocery-getter.
Man, I LOVE the look of the Arteon. Huge fan of the look of that Generation of Accord too. I wonder how these would fare against the 2023 Arteon with more power 🤔
The Accord doesn't need AWD to pull hard. AWD only helps in these types of races on the launch, which is why the Arteon was so much quicker out of the hole than the Accord. After they get rolling AWD doesn't help with acceleration, and the Accord's much lighter weight let it easily reel in the heavier Arteon.
@@drivescene6747 not quite 300 hp..cuz ultimately it traps like 99-100 mph in the 1/4 mile on a good run. Def underrated, somewhere in the 270ish crank (93 octane). I'm not surprised at all, and anyone who has driven the new Accord with the 2.0T & 10 speed knows it's basically a Civic Type R in a family sedan, it's actually crazy how quick it is for what it is.
I have a funny story. A short while after I got an Accord Sport 2.0T, I came up to a stoplight leading to a highway in front of me. No cars in front of me. Had it in Sport mode, and when the light changed I punched it. Little did I know (I really didn't), there was a Civic Type R in the lane next to me. After I punched it, he must have thought I was trying to race him, so all of a sudden I hear the car next to me punching it, and it was then that I noticed it was a Civic Type R!! I quickly backed down once I hit 60-70 due to the road geography, but until that time we were pretty much even. ;);) I was truly only looking to have fun with my new 2.0T and had no idea that guy was even there. Meanwhile he's probably thinking, look at this Accord Sport owner trying to embarrass me!! hahaha
@@WRjockey Did you get the 10AT? If so they should know they really never stood a chance, you have 4 more forward ratios and your transmission shifts faster than a human hand can. Did we watch the same video? Lol from the digs the Arteon beat the Accord almost everytime, even on the roll just briefly. The Arteon is just too heavy (3900 lbs) so it doesnt keep moving fast as was witnessed lol

Considering the Arteon is designed to be a luxury cruiser and not a drag racer, AND it's the heaviest here, AND it doesn't have VWs legendary DSG gearbox, it put up a very good fight against the lighter accord with the same power figures. If this was the Arteon R, with extra power and a dual clutch gearbox, it would've slaughtered both the other contenders. Shame VW won't bring it stateside.
@@kevinyu5802 The Arteon R is only sold in Europe. It has a 2.0T pushing over 310 HP and awd with torque vectoring on the rear axle and a seven speed dual clutch from the GTi. It also does 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. So yes, it would destroy all these cars.

The Accord can be tuned just the same. Have owned both VW and now a 2.0 Accord. Nothing but good things to say about both brands. We are on a stage 3 tune on our Accord and the gain is amazing. Biggest advantage of the Honda is the price and ease of tuning. Both also have turbo upgrades, intercooler upgrades, etc available. Biggest advantage of VW is that awd is available to take better advantage of big turbo builds at high power levels. Still, stock turbo Accords are into the low 12's so they aren't bad considering.

Accord be like : Another run ? Hmm ok hold my coffee !

That damn Accord is just so impressive!!
Honda engineering. Simply superior!
That charger is a hunk of junk I can’t believe how little has changed since it came out all those years ago.
That's what happens when the competition innovates and Dodge thinks that Americans will fawn over a V6 even when it gets walked by a FWD Accord. Also doesn't help that the thing weighs half a ton more than the Accord.
That charger was a V6...the V8 push 600 or 700 hrwp plus the honda is lighter with a turbo.

Accord the Best...
I would not try to run an Accord unless my car is making well over 300hp lol
"Always think twice when you pull up to a light to this grocery-getter." 😂 Said beautifully. Love my grocery-getter.
Accord Touring is 3420 lbs.
Charger GT is 4200 lbs.
Arteon AWD is 3900 lbs.
Light to light the Arteon will always win, but anything else she's at a complete loss with the drivetrain loss lol
Michael Strahan would be proud of that Honda for gaping those cars 😂🤣
The accord on the 3rd one was like: enough playing around.
Man, I LOVE the look of the Arteon. Huge fan of the look of that Generation of Accord too. I wonder how these would fare against the 2023 Arteon with more power 🤔
Damn that accord has some balls!!! Nice runs!!!
This is just insanity, how's that Accord 10 speed pulling so hard with the least amount of power and no AWD. Great job Honda❗
The difference in curb weight. The Accord is so much lighter than the other 2 cars.
The Accord doesn't need AWD to pull hard. AWD only helps in these types of races on the launch, which is why the Arteon was so much quicker out of the hole than the Accord. After they get rolling AWD doesn't help with acceleration, and the Accord's much lighter weight let it easily reel in the heavier Arteon.
the accord actually has 280 HP

This isn't the first time I have seen/heard of an Accord 2.0T taking its Civic Type R cousin. It pains me to say this because I learned to drive in a 94 Acura Integra GS 5MT, but automatics aren't going anywhere, manuals aren't changing & because of that they're so hard to find in North America on new vehicles.
@@ljpr360 Yes I have the 10AT. I wouldn't say I "took" him, but neither did he pull away from me. @@WRjockey I've seen several post better times in the Accord as well as a few races where the Accord won. I drove my friends' 2018 2.0T 6MT & the 10AT is always going to be faster. That's why Acura uses a strengthened tuned version in the Type S TLX & MDX.

Since the Arteon has an "R-line" in Canada, what would be the difference between this and an Arteon R? Interested in this car so would love to know 🙂
@@kevinyu5802 The Arteon R is only sold in Europe. It has a 2.0T pushing over 310 HP and awd with torque vectoring on the rear axle and a seven speed dual clutch from the GTi. It also does 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. So yes, it would destroy all these cars.
@@kevinyu5802 R Line in Canada is just cosmetic. The Rs in Germany have the golf R internals (engine & trans). German/EU vehicles (as opposed to NA) also get dual direct injection and port injection. It's nice in the long run reliability and power wise.
