Neither of these cars are preferred by me but if I had to the Accord 2.0t would be the one I would purchase. The Subarus WRX STi just doesn't have the same "street Cred" as it did years ago whatever that means and the styling and sound of the boxer is more subdued even with with aftermarket exhaust. I assume the Accord would be more reliable in the long run as well
I'm really impressed with that Accord same weigh less horsepower and no all-wheel drive. I Can Only Imagine if the engines was the same horsepower the STI would have got destroyed.
In an engineering standpoint, a car with AWD loses a lot of hp by powering all four wheels especially if you have a heavy driveshaft and non oem tires and wheels. The only advantage AWD has over FWD is grip on a dig. Once they get moving, the advantage swings back to the FWD car because it only needs to power 2 wheels instead of 4.
The accords are actually very impressive I’m sad to see the news then accord ditch the 2.0t but the sti is a dedicated sports car no one buys sti for their 1/4 mile times acceleration and handling is the main focus of them taking a turn at 120 when’re the accord even if it had active suspension would be at 80
I love my 2021 2.0 Accord i got the last one in my city in glossy white and this thing is a phenomenal performer and has grand technological futures for a sedan, definitely a extraordinary car and suggestive pick for anybody’s first car like me.
I didnt think the 2.0 would come close to the sti. But that manual mode wow made the difference. On a price perspective ur better off buying the accord and just getting ktuner.
I like using the paddle shifters from time to time...but if I need power like getting on the beltway...I just hit sport mode and that sucker flies...lol.
Good race and comparison of both cars. My personal opinion is that it is a bit hard to compare an automatic against a manual even though there is a "manual" mode (paddle shifters) in the Honda. Good video though.

Looks like it has already been done on Throttle House's channel last November. I'm just waiting for your excuse on how the WRX was an auto so it lost lol, let's hear it!
I own a 2.0t. No one expects that car to be that fast. When i wanna pass someone, i down shift 2 gears and im gone. In sport mode, the car is very fast. Even faster if you shift your own gears.
Was the STI ever put into Sport# you guys didn’t say. Intelligent mode turns off the turbo. Sport mode would give it about 250hp to be equal to the accord but sport# (sport sharp) would have gave the sti the full 305hp. Would have been nice to see the comparison.
I have a buddy with a 2.0t accord just like this one in the video, he is running a few bolt on’s with a e85 blend and is over 400whp. The 10 speed auto is insane, the car ran a 12.09 on a quarter mile. With better tires to launch I believe he would be in the 11s.
That was an amazing race. And dang near perfect SETUP I bet you, with just a k-tuner and an off the shelf tune like their own Stage two on a stock Engine. He would decimate that STI. Please don't get me wrong, I love subies all day every day. I actuallyused to own a 2015 STI. BUT Dollar for Dollar, the performance gained from simple Mods doesn't compare when it comes to gaining power.
@@allanhood8402 Don't pretend VW is more reliable than subaru. You're coping. Also the Sti does NOT have a bad transmision, they can handle serious abuse and 750 ft lbs of torque stock. And they don't leak oil any more than any other car with wear and tear.
The accord is insane as you say ..but it still lost most if not all races and thats just in a straight line Z=Zero car driving experience necessary the STI is just a beast ( Cobb performance not included ) on so many levels .. but great video as always and entertaining .
For the manual vs automatic people this is what a good auto box can do with less power. No need to let off of throttle so no boost drop, I’d like to see a cvt wrx vs the accord
Dude in the STI was so desperate to win he was brake boosting so hard I could almost see smoke off his front rotors as the cars front dipped over and over. Learn to FAIR mate.
I believe the driver factor is a huge part of these races. Why? Vehicle owners (that enjoy racing) usually are bonded with the vehicle and can squeeze a bit more out of it than someone that tries out the car perhaps now and then. If you are an accord owner like I am, you know two things: Brake boost at around 2500 rpms, manual mode with paddle shifters and keep your 3rd and 4th gears short for the 10 speed auto. After 4th gear if you time it right, the car continues to pull and pull. I'm saying this because simply flooring the gad pedal in the accord doesn't work well for this car. It will get gapped very quickly. But knowing its strengths and playing on those will ensure a decent race any day with most stock sub $40k sedans.
That's insane. Just looking at the specs, there's no way the Accord could keep up. It loses off the line everytime with less torque but evens out at top speed. Very impressed with both cars.
When driving in manual mode as the author mentioned the car will seem to accelerate faster than full automatic mode. Everything he said is spot on. Manual mode allows the engine to stay in its peak power, for a longer period before upshifting.
There is a guy with a UA-cam channel and he is pushing over 400 whp in a 2.0T 10 AT Accord Sport. With only bolt on and over 100k miles and still reliable and stupid fast.
Hey Jupa, I 100% agree. They kinda hampered the STI not letting it go full throttle. But, I gotta say, I really do like Accord Sport - I may need to make my Sti the garage princess.
Being owner of a 2.0t accord myself. If Honda made this have awd option and tuned by hondata or other tuner company we might see a bigger difference. Everyday it’s fun taking off from lights and seeing most if not all cars become ants in my rear view Broadway mirror lol. Yes that wide angle mirror helps!!
For all those people complaining about how accord shouldn’t have gotten gapped, need to realize most of the videos of an accord beating an STI is because the driver can’t drive at all. This video Sam had a LEGIT driver who could drive and not make mistakes so the 10 speed couldn’t capitalize on the manual trans making mistakes. Sam the new STI coming out is going to be 400 HP STOCK. Are u excited?

@@SK718NYC Look ,you are probably a Honda fanboy ok,,I dont have time to argue, you must be blind not to see that the STI had like 3 cars ahead from the jump lol . The STI is the more powerful of the 2,,Look at the race again lol. I also said the accord did good,,but it lost to the more powerful car 😎
@@pedrorivera2308 I actually worked at a Subaru dealer. Nothing but blown head gasket, broken rods and excessive oil consumption. STI are built like trash. pS I don't drive a Honda 😂
"I'm 100% gonna lose this one..."
"Well that's the whole point, right?" 😎
I'm impressed with Honda
Awesome video...thats a world of difference in manual for the 10 speed automatic accord!
@@JustinSherrod1991 and if the STI got a simple tune we would be back to square one
The accords are actually very impressive I’m sad to see the news then accord ditch the 2.0t but the sti is a dedicated sports car no one buys sti for their 1/4 mile times acceleration and handling is the main focus of them taking a turn at 120 when’re the accord even if it had active suspension would be at 80
That music in the beginning is so cold🥶. I love it
I love my 2021 2.0 Accord i got the last one in my city in glossy white and this thing is a phenomenal performer and has grand technological futures for a sedan, definitely a extraordinary car and suggestive pick for anybody’s first car like me.
The Accord was a slow family car and now it's neck to neck with STI lol 😆. Amazing what a 🐌 can do.
Turbo broc
I have an 18 year old factory 240 horse j30 accord
Accord was never that slow in the past the older V6s with 6 speed manuals could keep up easily
That accord is probably making more power than what they say. That same engine is making 320 hp in the civic type R.
That AWD Helped him soo much
Thank you for the video We need to see a drag race for the 1.5t accord
I like these drag races because it shows how conventional every day cars perform really. Unexpected performance
I didnt think the 2.0 would come close to the sti. But that manual mode wow made the difference. On a price perspective ur better off buying the accord and just getting ktuner.
Just watching him drive with his expressions from 5:50-6:10 is hilarious 😂
Just look how intense he was to normal state lol loved it!!!🤣
Damn did I just learn something about my car? I didn't know it was that much difference in manual mode. Will certainly try that out
I like using the paddle shifters from time to time...but if I need power like getting on the beltway...I just hit sport mode and that sucker flies...lol.
Good race and comparison of both cars. My personal opinion is that it is a bit hard to compare an automatic against a manual even though there is a "manual" mode (paddle shifters) in the Honda. Good video though.
I said the same bro lol can’t beat a computer when it comes to shifting and the paddle shifters are still backed by a computer for people who are learning still
That was actually super interesting lmfao i did not think it'd be that close
@@copperkeyracing6167 yeah they make great power. I was more surprised on how it put the power down with an open diff. pretty impressive stock. i've been in an e85 accord and it slips all the way to 4th.
@@copperkeyracing6167 That makes sense. I probably shouldve asked the guy what tires he was running. I'm even more impressed with the accord's diff then haha.
The regular WRX vs the Accord 2.0 would probably be a more fair race. But after watching this race I have no doubt the Accord will beat the regular WRX. The Accord 2.0 as people always say: it might look like a grocery getter, but it is such a threat on the road.
If they would’ve used the tuned example, the STI would’ve lost all these races or it would’ve been much closer
@@cam2.sl0w85 they didn’t use the sti sport plus mode which is even more boost so it will be not a close match at all
@@gengiz right?? I did notice that. They only use sport but not sport#
Keep on dreaming, go race a WRX and find out.
Looks like it has already been done on Throttle House's channel last November. I'm just waiting for your excuse on how the WRX was an auto so it lost lol, let's hear it!
Dude that’s awesome!!! Honda has stepped up their game. Accord did good against the STI!
Clean runs, interesting matchups, thorough testing. This channel is awesome
Best drag races on UA-cam !!
I would love to see the Kia K5 GT against the STI
I’d like to see a dude that knows how to shift.
I just traded in my ‘21 STi for the 2.0 Accord, don’t even miss the Subie lol
I own a 2.0t. No one expects that car to be that fast. When i wanna pass someone, i down shift 2 gears and im gone. In sport mode, the car is very fast. Even faster if you shift your own gears.
Yeah until you try to do that to real car people and get gapped 😂
What’s ur accord’s 0-60 ? 10 seconds or something
@@ardaturk8397 more like 5 seconds
Bullshit honda has 190 horsepower it can’t 5 seconds u can’t fool me 💀
Was the STI ever put into Sport# you guys didn’t say. Intelligent mode turns off the turbo. Sport mode would give it about 250hp to be equal to the accord but sport# (sport sharp) would have gave the sti the full 305hp. Would have been nice to see the comparison.
I was expecting a really bad gap... damn. ... what's in that accord bro.
detuned Type R engine
I was expecting the accord 10 speed to gap a 12 year old platform that’s manual. Wait for the new 400hp STI
@@HarryTwatter Or just when Honda decides to finally put a turbo from factory on the k series engine.
Great engineering. Look at the hp and torque between the two. There is a good amount of difference. Type r and the sti would be interesting
@@sharktin240 305 vs 250
I have a buddy with a 2.0t accord just like this one in the video, he is running a few bolt on’s with a e85 blend and is over 400whp. The 10 speed auto is insane, the car ran a 12.09 on a quarter mile. With better tires to launch I believe he would be in the 11s.
Good race... that Subaru is faster than I thought! 👍🏾
This channel slowly becoming one of my favourite
That was an amazing race. And dang near perfect SETUP
I bet you, with just a k-tuner and an off the shelf tune like their own Stage two on a stock Engine. He would decimate that STI. Please don't get me wrong, I love subies all day every day. I actuallyused to own a 2015 STI. BUT Dollar for Dollar, the performance gained from simple Mods doesn't compare when it comes to gaining power.
And if the STi had a tune as well?
Tune for tune? VW has entered the chat. Fastest tuned accord? 11.7 seconds. Fastest tuned GLIGTI 10.6 seconds
That Subaru has many issues with miles on them. Old looking car. Bad transmissions. Leaks oil. Money pits. VW or Honda
Wish he brought back the 10 sp with the Stage 2 Tune that he did vs the Type R.
Curious why no races in sport #? That's where you would actually see full boost from the sti. Just wondering why that was left out for comparison.
I’d like to watch the Honda vs Nissan.
still waiting as well
For the manual vs automatic people this is what a good auto box can do with less power. No need to let off of throttle so no boost drop, I’d like to see a cvt wrx vs the accord
Any chance to see sti vs the stinger.. on google search sti did 1/4 13.5 where as the stinger did about the same.
The STI is meant for real racing not a straight line.
Your face was red as hell!!! Lmao your use to winning. Great channel 👏👍
Superb video thank you . Accord is a beast
Why I have to see his facial reactions through all the race
Dude in the STI was so desperate to win he was brake boosting so hard I could almost see smoke off his front rotors as the cars front dipped over and over. Learn to FAIR mate.
Nice race. That Accord is no slouch.
No it won’t,this think will get gapped badly by a stinger and a scatpack and those are sub 40k cars…
Show me either one of those cars for under 40k
@@bonesaw8744 They're both under 40k USD. If you mean CAD then yeah you're right but he's probably talking USD.
The sti has more hp & tq than the 2.0t accord not bad of a race stock for stock
Drive train loss 😉
Also weight 300 it’s more than accord
Be a total different story if it was a WRX .
@@clintonoconnor6507 what story? Loose badly?
@@bman1668 if the idiot in the sti knows how to properly launch a sti from a dig , the accord would’ve got raped.
That's insane. Just looking at the specs, there's no way the
Accord could keep up. It loses off the line everytime with less torque but evens out at top speed. Very impressed with both cars.
I never hear this talked about, the drivers' weight. What about if one driver is 300lbs and other 150. Would the 150 lbs difference give an advantage?
We are within the limits.
@@SamCarLegion thanks! And i’m not insinuating that one of you guys is 300lbs. LOL
When driving in manual mode as the author mentioned the car will seem to accelerate faster than full automatic mode. Everything he said is spot on. Manual mode allows the engine to stay in its peak power, for a longer period before upshifting.
I wanna see that STI vs the K5 GT. It should be interesting...
K5 by murder. The k5 was hanging with muscle cars a few days ago
K5 GT with Michelin Summer Tires will definitely beat STI for sure. Lmao @ STI getting beat-up by Family Commuter cars
Honda really had something with the 2.0T and they just threw it away.
Sam’s expression got so serious until the end LMFAO. Good content
There is a guy with a UA-cam channel and he is pushing over 400 whp in a 2.0T 10 AT Accord Sport. With only bolt on and over 100k miles and still reliable and stupid fast.
Sti’s should come with 400+ hp from the factory these days. 300hp is a joke.
300hp isnt a joke but your right its just not good enough
Yeah, it was good 15 yrs ago, now econo boxes have that number
The cars are unreliable with 300hp you really want an extra 100hp?
The new one will probably have that number or close to it.🤔
They are the 2022 sti comes with 400 hp
Glad I clicked on this vid from my recommended page. Just subbed!
Maybe the STI in S# mode can do a greater difference 👌🏼
Hey Jupa, I 100% agree. They kinda hampered the STI not letting it go full throttle. But, I gotta say, I really do like Accord Sport - I may need to make my Sti the garage princess.
Being owner of a 2.0t accord myself. If Honda made this have awd option and tuned by hondata or other tuner company we might see a bigger difference. Everyday it’s fun taking off from lights and seeing most if not all cars become ants in my rear view Broadway mirror lol. Yes that wide angle mirror helps!!
THAT'S CRAZY!!! For the Accord to run that close to a WRX STI, ESPECIALLY when it's giving up nearly 50hp!?! Honda HAD to have underrated it. 🤔🤔
The STI was only is sport mode which gives it about 250hp not sport# mode which gives it the full 305hp.
Sam. Thank you for what you're doing! So interesting!
Thank you
Yooo! When the accord reeled the STi in! 👀
