I remember several years ago when WalMart played this song. The expressions on the faces of the younger crew was hilarious when Tom hit the chorus, especially as in the back room several of us much older workers were singing along. It was great
Tom Jones is a Welsh singer who has one of the smoothest powerful voices around. And he was a showman too, in fact he was a big heart-throb with the ladies. He has so many hits such as "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "She's a Lady". He covers a lot of genres. He is still performing & is a coach on "The Voice" UK version. He also had a variety show from 69 - 71 & had some of the biggest music stars at the time.
Tom Jones 84 years old and still has that beautiful voice.I saw him do this on the show and yes im old i have seen and heard beautiful people im79. I loved everything he sang.
As Tom became a bigger and bigger heart throb star the women just couldn’t get enough of him! They would throw their panties on stage every show. Things really got wild when he started wearing an afro, really tight pants, his shirt unbuttoned and a big gold chain. The women just went even crazier for him. His voice just got better and better. Tom is a sex symbol for sure. Thanks for the great reaction Greg!
This is why Sir Tom Jones is still on stage aged 82 with a very similar sounding voice and he sings everything from rock to gospel and everything in between becoming the oldest person to have a number one album age 80 and selling around 200 million records, he's on your side of the pond at the moment still doing live concerts, even though he needs a new hip, he's carried on until the tour has finished, that's what you get from people from his generation
Greg, Sir Tom Jones is a judge on The Voice UK and a couple of years ago the son of the writer of I’ll Never Fall in Love Again (another of Tom’s big hits) auditioned for the show. After picking him, Tom sang a duet of this song with the son. If you want to hear how Sir Tom sounds at 80…it’s well worth the time…pretty sure it’s on You Tube. It’s a very touching moment and the music will knock your socks off….
Before the Voice UK Tom had his own show for a brief season that was simulcast in both America & UK. People who have good ears or studied music theory would know the song starts on a minor key like a sad song and when the lyrics get to "My, my, my, Delilah..." the key changes to major to give a happy feel and back to minor (from Gm to Bb and back to Gm).
This song was on the radio when I was a kid. Can you imagine being 10 years old and listening to these lyrics every day because the radio station play the song about a dozen times a day? Tom Jones helped in making me the man I am today!😎
He was one of the coaches on UK The Voice for several years. He was always singing his songs on that show. You should react to him and Stevie Wonder was 19 and came on the Tom Jones show and they sang each others songs together. That's a good one. Or him and Wilson Pickett singing together on the Tom Jones show. 😆
Dude has a whole ass orchestra behind him and he's still loud as hell. Even tho he has a microphone, it really shows how strong his voice is. They shoved the musicians way back into another zip code for a reason! 😂
Notice, how far from his mouth Tom holds the microphone. Most singers have the mic right next to their mouth. Even now, on the Voice, When he sings, he sits in his chair + belts out the song! Magnificent still!
This is like his follow on song from the one you saw last month "I'll Never Fall in Love Again". I was 6 when this first came out [1967] and used to 'dance' to it when my parents played it on the record player. Love his music and he can still sing at 82!
His attorney would be pissed at this point. Standing over her body singing his confession!! At Court the DA : your honor, we have his confession. It’s currently #1 on the charts. Judge: yes I know. Sir Tom, would you mind autographing my 45 before you leave the stand?!
I love the way the conductor was movin' and groovin' to the music!!! 😄 I was six when this video was shot. I first heard about Tom Jones around 1970 while reading an article about the Jackson 5 and Jackie Jackson stated that Tom Jones was his favorite singer. When I first saw Tom perform on his "This is Tom Jones" show (1969 - 1971; totaling 65 episodes) he immediately became one of my favorite singers!!! You have to check out the slew of top performers that Tom did duets with on and off of his show!!!
I LOVE Tom Jones and will have the great pleasure of seeing him for my third time here in my town (Santa Barbara, CA) next Wednesday, October 5! My daughter and I are both so excited for the show.. This will also be her third time to see him, even though we’ve only seen him once when we were together. The first time she saw him, she was eighteen years old. She and her seventeen year old friend went on a road trip to Vegas and on the spur of the moment, bought tickets to see him at the MGM. I don’t even know how they got in to see him at their ages. I guess they looked older than they were, or security never imagined that a couple of young teenagers would even want to see his show. They had a blast and I was so jealous, but happy for them that they got to experience that.
Hahaha...I was waiting for "that" verse and your reaction..😄... Yep..seemingly a temptress that was her own undoing...stay away Tom !... Thanks Greg for recognizing that the voices of the early recorders had to be top notch to be great...no auto-tune... Hope your world is doing well...🌿🌿🌿
I'll never fall in Love again, Delilah and Green Green grass of home can almost be seen as a trilogy of songs telling one tragic story he is just so talented it is scary and even the stuff he's released in the last few years is cool
Now listen to the same song as Sir Tom Jones at the Queens Jubilee sings it. How we all like to age as gracefully. He keeps belting them out on the Voice Great Britain on you tube.
This was a favourite of ours at school. Alright it seems a bit weird since it was late 90's early 2000's when I was still in school. For context, I'm from Wales as well, in fact only a short drive from Tom Jones' home town. Due to the nature of the song, one year the school staff decided to ban it from our St. David's Day festivities (We didn't really have lessons, it was a day with a programme full of song, dance and awards for both educational, artisic and sporting attainment). So.... they planned to not play it at the end of day mini-disco party and not during any of the sing along sessions throughout the day. Yeah we didn't really have internet and stuff readily available, and portable audio equipment was in very early stages.... but that didn't stop us. Normally the orchestra kids were seen as snobby goody two shoes students..... but it's those you gotta look out for. You absolutely bet during their little sessions they deliberately changed the programme in secret and would start playing Delilah. Let me tell you that force of nature, especially coming from welsh kids, is something you can't stop. They continued to ban playing the song as a scheduled part of the events but gave up if we all started playing and singing together.
Sorry but you'll never hear any 2 voices like his ever again I fe I'm love 60 yrs ago still crying like so many woman the s r age filled with women under garmets he would wipe his sweat with them women were screaming crying and even dieing I was ten and cried all night because I was not allowed to go to his concert
Now they want to ban the Welsh from singing this song at rugby matches 🤨, sing it loud wales , your Celtic brothers in Scotland are right behind you ,mon the Welsh 🫶🏻
This song was written for Tom. The choice of the name ‘Delilah’ is not random. It relates to the story of Sampson and Delilah. Musically, it’s a celebration song. A drinking song. Lyrically, it’s dark.
just learned in the song 🎵 the man 👨 kills his cheating lady 👩 but not her lover so yes it's definitely misogynistic and promoting domestic violence. Therefore I don't care for it and don't give a damn if it's banned. Good riddance. I only knew the chorus anyway. It was long before my time ⏲️ I'm sure that there's plenty of other Tom Jones songs 🎵 for people to enjoy
I was grown up on the songs of Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck, these 2 singers were my mom's favorites. Pls, check out A Man Without Love 1968 by E.H. he was great too.
What ever happened to Englebert Humperdinck? I use to love his songs, some of my favorites are: Spanish Eyes; Release Me; The Last Waltz; There Goes My Everything, and a few others. When I was about 10, I would get Engelbert and Tom mixed up, when I was listening to their music, but only a couple of songs.
🏴🔥🔥🔥 The Voice 🏴🔥🔥🔥 Check out - I'll never fall in love again, she's a lady, duet with little Richard, duet with Janis Joplin. And many others on his TV show
Dimash has a new MV dropped 6 days ago and has over 900K views he composed the music, and the story, and co-directed it." The Story Of One "Sky he has added new colours to his voice as well.
The name Delilah has had a bad reputation since the story of Samson and Delilah in the Bible. I liked the movie when I was a kid. I'll have to watch it again to see if its aged well.

Exactly!!! The older songs paint a great picture of what's happening and you can see the whole thing in your head as they go along.
Tom Jones 84 years old and still has that beautiful voice.I saw him do this on the show and yes im old i have seen and heard beautiful people im79. I loved everything he sang.
Omg, what a hunk of a man. His singing would blow your socks off!!!! Such a powerful, strong voice. Anything, he sand was wonderful.

And clearly Tom couldn't get enough of them either. However brilliant singer no taking that away from him.

Tom had and still has a voice. I like you said that and that you could picture what he was singing.

Just ran across this, love it Greg!!!! Delilah was an idiot!!!!
Read about Sampson and Delilah in the Bible. You will get an idea as to why they chose that name for this song.
Now listen to the same song as Sir Tom Jones at the Queens Jubilee sings it. How we all like to age as gracefully. He keeps belting them out on the Voice Great Britain on you tube.
Watch the conductor......dancing
