...and is now on Tour in England, Netherlands, Spain, Germany in August and the USA. This voice and his charisma I like and adore with his 84 years....please go on and on....always...Greetings from germany. ;-)
"I Who Have Nothing" - trust me. This song also demonstrates his power, his range, his emotionality. The other songs mentioned are good but THIS should be the follow up song.
Tom Jones really isnt a crooner. He just happened to be singing a ballad while giving all a vocal master class. Music has changed over the years and he has recorded music that represented each decade. He has said he was influenced by rock and roll and gospel music. Whatever his preferences, his vocal ability is such that iit still allows him to have a career at 80 years of age, and there arent many artists who can make that claim.
Linzi- couldn't have said it better myself. Those of us, and there are many, have been fans of his since his beginning. His career has spanned decades and, considering his age, is an absolute unique entertainer. Healthy, vital and still relevant and will go down in history as one of the greatest voices ever. Cheers, Sir Tom Jones!
Tom Jones was and still is a great entertainer. Women were wild about him from teeny boppers to grandmothers! Being a Welshman didn't hurt either. The Welsh are world famous for their singing, especially in choirs. He wasn't hard on the eyes either.
There are quite a few great Tom Jones songs, My favorite is 'It's Not Unusual'. Also take a listen to 'Delilah', 'She's a Lady', and his cover of Prince's 'Kiss'.
Love me some Tom Jones. I'll be 73 in 4 day and I remember listening to him with my grammie. He and Liberace They were her favorites. Play some Liberace.
I listened to Tom Jones back in High School. This song still gives me chills!! He has an amazing voice! On the Voice he stood up and sang with the Son of a man that Wrote a song for him! My GOD! At 80 he still has IT!!!
The drop right before the first chorus when he says "again", is so emotional. Then the absolute power in the chorus. Gives me chills. I'd never heard this either
One of the best voices ever. Full of soul and power, straight out of the valleys of Wales. he has just released a new album at age 80, and still has IT.
Indeed, MrLboyd, Jones was here an amazing young miner (miner's son) from Wales, with a more masculine image than Elvis, but a soulful and often soft barytone timbre. That reminds me - try Britain's Got Talent and the first time only "Boys Aloud" from Wales - I will not rob you of any surprise effect, if you haven't noticed them before. Audition from 2012. I agree with you, Janie, Tom Jones has IT in his voice. I call it goosebumps-guarantee. :-)
He has an amazing ear when he’s been listening to black singers he’s held on to what he’s heard and put his own take on it he’s a Welsh boy with an amazing talent and knowing what sounds good
When he sings that "No I'm never gonna fall in love" Man it just melts ya. One of the most original and deep voice ever. A once in a lifetime voice. You should do a few more of his songs, Treat Her Right was a good one and Delilah was a big song for him. Hope you do more of Tom Jones...
He's the next generation of singers, after the so called crooners like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett etc. Tom Jones is more than that, his vocal range was amazing and the power that comes out from his voice is just unreal. To me this particular song and the time in which it was recorded, is one of Tom Jones best performances. Glad to see you could appreciate his singing right away, such a voice!!!
Love Tom Jones! He sings with so much emotion. Check out his songs, "Delilah' and "Green Green Grass of Home". I consider it a a continuation of "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" story line. ;)
I used to work in radio back in the '70s and '80s & Sir Tom's hits were considered "pop" or "adult contemporary" music. Because of my radio connection, I was lucky enough to get backstage and meet him after a concert in Portland, Oregon. I'd been a fan since the '60s and it was a thrill! Incredible set of pipes and the way he moves. Lord Have Mercy! His manager said he lost 5 lbs. after every performance because he was such a mean dancing machine. Got an autograph & a kiss. Yum! Funny story about Elvis in the book "Elvis: What Happened?" - Once when Elvis saw Tom performing on TV and the women were going crazy, he pulled out a gun and shot out the screen. Maybe he didn't like the competition? My suggestion for another phenomenal song by Tom was written by Otis Redding and no one has mentioned it here yet "Hard to Handle." Blue-eyed soul personified!
I was a young teenager when this came out and it so perfectly described the pain of love gone wrong to us listening. He makes it sounds like he is singing from experience, You can just hear the pain in his voice. But he actually married quite young to his high school sweetheart and they remained married their entire lives until she died not that long ago. He's just that good of a singer.
Somewhere there's an interview where he talks about all the panties and hotel keys tossed his way. He could convince you that he was very happy with his marriage.
As a young girl in Lancashire, England I remember a boyfriend buying me Tom Jones' first album (LP) in 1965. I was ecstatically happy to have that. All the girls were in love with Tom Jones. He had a truly amazing voice and definitely had 'stage appeal' to say the least.
His influence was Church Music, Gospel etc. He is considered in the rock Genre as well as one other. He is 80 years old and sang that song on the Voice and he sounds as good now as he did then. All the WOmen wanted him, he made some movies too, sells out every place he plays....Simply the best voice I have ever heard. If you like great voices you need to check out Johnny Mathis greatest hits. He was the first ever to have a greatest hits album. Amazing singer
Sir Tom Jones has a beautiful voice. He was really loved by the ladies back in the day. My mom would watch his program in the evening while waiting for my father to return from work. He’s been the main judge on The Voice UK for many years. JHud sat next to him for several seasons…she was always in totally awe of him every time he sings…living legend!
Over here in the UK we know he’s amazing he’s 82 now and still going strong his voice is just as good today as it was back then It’s funny you should mention My idol Elvis because they were great friends and used to go to each other’s concerts You said you’ve seen the Voice UK 🇬🇧 well a singer came on and Sir Tom was the only one who turned for him ,he asked him his name and he said Peter Donegan and Sir Tom said your not related to the great Lonnie Donegan are you he said yes he was my Father Tom was really taken back .He said to Peter your dad was one of my best friends and he said yes I know Tom said to him he wrote a song for me do you know it he said indeed I do it was I’ll Never fall in love Again he asked him if he would would like to sing it with him and it was just amazing you must check it out it’s quite heartfelt it was a wonderful experience for Peter singing his dads song with the great Sir Tom Jones you’ll find it on UA-cam please react to Its Not Unusual/Delilah / Green Green grass of Home and She’s a Lady there’s lots more from Tom so he will keep you busy for a long time Great Reaction Love ❤️ from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴👍👍👍👏👏👏👏💕🥰👋
I grew up loving Elvis and my brother loved Tom Jones. He took his wife to every Tom Jones concert he could and they would even go to Vegas when he was there to see him (he went evey night, his wife didn't! Haha). My brother died at 50 from cancer but he told me before he went home, that he didn't just love Tom Jones, he wanted to be Tom Jones! Tom was big at the time when I was growing up, however, no where near Elvis. They were great friends and Elvis was given a song but he thought it would be better for Tom's voice. So he gave it to him. I think this was the song. Tom had his own show in the 1960's, would always kiss his wife before going onstage and was married to the same woman all his life. They have one son. He is from Wales and lives there now. Listen to the recorded version of Tom singing this song and Elvis singing American Trilogy! Wow! Two powerful songs and men.
at age 13 I fell in love with this mans voice while all my friends were following rock groups of the 70's. Im 66 now, have seen Tom in concert a few times...cant get enough of him even now at his age of 81. my man!
May I suggest you listen to Tom Jones sing "I who have nothing" performed sometime around 1970. He was magnificient, not only vocally, but you can hear the anguish in his soul.
Saw him in concert...best ever...not only a great singer with stage presence, but he also posed for pics!!! (I ran down aisle to edge of stage to take) in Sioux city Ia. early 80s.
I also grew up with his TV show back in the late 1960's with Mom. In fact Mom took me to his concert as a 10 year old, which was my first concert. All of his songs are great. Thank for sharing.
His range is so amazing. I remember hearing him decades ago as a child. His most powerful songs were recorded in the mid 60’s into the early 70’s. This song you just listened to was written for him by Lonnie Donegan who passed away in 2002. Lonnie’s son, Peter, was on The Voice a few years ago. Tom Jones turned around after hearing Peter sing and then they sang I’ll Never Fall in Love Again together. Such a beautiful moment. 💜
I found a couple interviews on youtube where Tom talks about the first time he met Elvis and another one where Elvis followed him back to his hotel room to tell him about a song that he thought Tom should record. It was just after Tom had finished a show in Vegas. They are unbelievable.
Before the Voice on TV, there was the Voice (his nickname...decades before!). Sir Tom, you still rock and I will always hold you in the highest regard!
You asked about what genre this is and being around in 1967 (14) I can say he was big on the what was called then Rock and Roll staions. Or Top 40 or a couple of other names. He was played with the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Righteous Bros, Elvis all the Motown stars, James Brown and all our favorites. Tom was given his own show because he appealed to such a wide audience. You might remember Carlton doing his Tom Jones impersonation on Fresh Prince of Bellair. Everybody thought Carlton was such a dork because he liked Tom Jones. LOL Funny how what's old is new again. You can probably find a clip of that on you tube.
Now you know why he is qualified to be a judge and a tutor for the Voice of UK. He was quite popular with the women. He had a show in Las Vegas for several years.
When I was an adolescent in the late 60’s Tom Jones was all over the TV. Took him for granted as I was into the Beatles, Stones, Byrd’s, Buffalo Springfield, etc. What a singer. There is a very sweet video of Stevie Wonder calling into The Voice UK to wish Tom a happy 80th Birthday. Old, dear friends.
At a restaurant with him seated at the next table with two other men and at least 5 Barbie doll women. All while he was married. But he does have an amazing voice.
Yes. Tom Jones and Elvis were very good friends He is 80 years old and his voice is still strong. He had a CD go to the top of the charts recently. I went to a concert back in 1978 and there were woman throwing their panties and bras up on the stage.
One of my favorites... Listen to Delilah, It's Not Unusual, I Who have Nothing, and Treat Her Right. He has had an amazing career and sis till a great singer. I think that he is equally at home with Ballads, Pop , and Rhythm and Blues. Mr Jones was a hitmaking machine and a fantastic entertainer in live performances. I am happy that you have discovered him!
OMGOSH..........Tom Jones was awesome and still is very good today. He and Elvis were good friends and were in Vegas about the same time I think. Elvis was the most popular until he passed away in August, 1977 two months after my son was born and I will never forget that day !!
80 years old and still singing Elvis and he were friends
I forgot about that. My mom had tickets to see him for1st time 2 months from when he died. Dammit
He was also told by doctors if he continues to sing how he did, he wouldn't be able to sing anymore, yet he's still singing like he did. Amazing
Elvis said he had the best voice ever….
@@madewithloveandbutter5598 that’s correct. Elvis said many times that he thought Tom Jones was the best singer alive.
Tom Jones one of my favourite singers. TY
He just released a new album at the age of 81, and became the oldest person to have a #1 album. And he still sounds this good.
Actually I’m pretty sure that stat is wrong though…I believe Dame Vera Lynn was #1 about 10 years back in her 90s…she passed away about a year ago.
Did you hear him do an impromptu " Cry to me" on the voice? Absolutely phenomenal.
Yes he does..😀
...and is now on Tour in England, Netherlands, Spain, Germany in August and the USA. This voice and his charisma I like and adore with his 84 years....please go on and on....always...Greetings from germany. ;-)
Wow what a voice. These are the type of voices I like.
Tom was so smooth, he even snapped his fingers elegantly.
Yes, he was married, over 50+ years, to his high school sweetheart. God bless his late wife, who passed not long ago. God bless.
"I Who Have Nothing" - trust me. This song also demonstrates his power, his range, his emotionality. The other songs mentioned are good but THIS should be the follow up song.
Agteey
I LOVE "I Who Have Nothing". Completely agree, it is an example of his astonishing range.
Love that song. Saw him in a small concert venue. He did not disappoint.
Also only once and a boy from nowhere but there are so many you can't really say what demonstrates his voice it's so hard to choose from lol
Nobody does that song better than Luther Vandross.
My favorite singer. I get chills just hearing his voice. He is in his 80’s and his voice is clear and just as beautiful as ever.
I am so blessed that I grew up to his music. No one will ever duplicate THE voice. Still amazing today.
Tom Jones is timeless... you'll be at it for a while going through his lifes work.
Tom Jones really isnt a crooner. He just happened to be singing a ballad while giving all a vocal master class. Mick will be there soon.
Keep interrupting the song
..I'm out....
You're absolutely right, not a crooner. He'll know that if he listens to his other hits
He sounds exactly the same today at 80 , an amazing voice . I have been a fan since I was young. Im 55 now !!!
Tom Jones songs to react to:
She's A Lady
Delilah
Green Green Grass Of Home
Treat Her Right
What's New Pussycat

Tom Jones was and still is a great entertainer. Women were wild about him from teeny boppers to grandmothers! Being a Welshman didn't hurt either. The Welsh are world famous for their singing, especially in choirs. He wasn't hard on the eyes either.
Sir Tom is still very handsome with that white hair! He has not lost any of his voice at 82 years.
There are quite a few great Tom Jones songs, My favorite is 'It's Not Unusual'. Also take a listen to 'Delilah', 'She's a Lady', and his cover of Prince's 'Kiss'.
Treat Her Right and What's New Pussycat are worthy tunes as well
Holy sh!t, yes!!! What an excellent performance from both artists.
He did an amazing duet with Janis Joplin on his tv show in the late 60s called Raise Your Hand
Delilah is my favorite.
Green Green Grass of Home. Touching song.
My favourite Tom Jones song. What a singer, he has never lost his voice. 🏴x
His tone and texture are amazing. He hit those notes like no-one else!
Every time I hear him sing this song it brings tears to my eyes. He still sounds like this at 81!💓

Now at 80 years old he still has the same powerhouse voice. He and Elvis were very good friends.
What's amazes me is back then they sung live 😊
One of the best voices ever. Full of soul and power, straight out of the valleys of Wales. he has just released a new album at age 80, and still has IT.

Tom Jones is a legend and has sung with so many greats, Stevie Wonder, Janice Joplin,
Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Little Richard,
even Pavarotti!
He has an amazing ear when he’s been listening to black singers he’s held on to what he’s heard and put his own take on it he’s a Welsh boy with an amazing talent and knowing what sounds good
i'm old. i listened to him when he was actually that age. one of my old fav singers
Grew up listening to Tom. My Mom loved him ❤️ Definitely the Best voice in that era!!
So glad you found Tom Jones. What a treasure he is.Great reaction
Not just a crooner but a rocker and bluesman too! One of the best live acts I have ever seen.
He's the next generation of singers, after the so called crooners like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett etc. Tom Jones is more than that, his vocal range was amazing and the power that comes out from his voice is just unreal. Please do a reaction to Tom singing “I who have nothing”. The best! Also “The green green grass of home”.👌
Yes, please do the song Green, Green Grass of Home. A young man on The Voice did a very good job on this song. Please check him out.

I listened to both tom jones and elvis's version of "green green grass of home"
Elvis's is better, but tom does a great job as well
The Green Green Grass of Home, I love that song.
Tom Jones is Welch, born in Wales (UK)
"You can leave your hat on" is another sexy ditty he sang
I used to work in radio back in the '70s and '80s & Sir Tom's hits were considered "pop" or "adult contemporary" music. Because of my radio connection, I was lucky enough to get backstage and meet him after a concert in Portland, Oregon. I'd been a fan since the '60s and it was a thrill! You’d enjoy him singing with Janis Joplin titled “Raise your Hand”.
Yes, yes yes!
Seconded -- that video is a BLAST.
Love love love his voice 💕

Not only could this man sing he could really dance as well tom is /was amazing and brilliant a truly one off
Tom has an amazing voice and he's self taught.
I who have nothing is a great Tom Jones song, loved it forever
Amen my friend. I knew you had an old soul. Tony Bennett I mean c'mon people. All day everyday. Dang genius
You can feel every note from your head to your toes when Tom sings. You must react to I Who Have Nothing live performance on his 60s TV show.
Listened to him in concert 10 years ago, this song still got the biggest applause 😉😊
Thank you so much!! I found your channel last week and just love you!!😊❤️
As a young girl in Lancashire, England I remember a boyfriend buying me Tom Jones' first album (LP) in 1965. I was ecstatically happy to have that. All the girls were in love with Tom Jones. He had a truly amazing voice and definitely had 'stage appeal' to say the least.

It's Not Unusual is the next one. Watch him live! Now a days he's a judge on The Voice and that makes me want to cry
Always one of my favorites and I remember him from the 60s.
Tom Jones can still sing out. Tom Jones friends with Elvis away back and friends with Stevie Wonder.
I remember roughly 10 years ago going to the supermarket, I heard this voice when I got out the car. I thought I was listening to a tape or someone's car stereo. I was wrong Tom was singing a Prince song at a special event Hamilton race course.
Spot the deliberate mistake from the supermarket its at least 1 to 2 miles away I heard every word sung.

I love these old songs. This what my parents listened to. I miss hearing them.
He’s been the main judge on The Voice UK for many years. JHud sat next to him for several seasons…she was always in totally awe of him every time he sings…living legend!
AMAZING what can I say no one sings like Tom is a one of a kind voice .50 years and still I love him
He did a great cover of Burning Down the House with The Cardigans.

Lol
LOL! I see what you did there. :)
i see what you did their lol

He was popular in my younger years. I saw him perform in Las Vegas. He was wonderful! Another favorite of mine is Barry White. He passed way to soon.
Check out the video of him singing this song on the UK voice with the son of the man that wrote this song for Tom. Voice is still amazing.
I grew up loving Elvis and my brother loved Tom Jones. He took his wife to every Tom Jones concert he could and they would even go to Vegas when he was there to see him (he went evey night, his wife didn't! Haha). The similarity with Elvis is that he makes you feel every lyric deep down in your soul. Besides them being good friends with each other.
Righteous Brothers! The best voices!
Listen to him singing”The boy from nowhere” Amazing!

You continue to amaze me Boyd. Sir Tom Jones is British. Tom is 81 years old and is Welsh and still sings like he is 30
He’s actually Welsh
My mistake yes Sir Tom is Welsh thanks Delphi
That’s not crooning. No auto tune no special effects just pure raw talent. Elvis said that Tom had the best voice he ever heard.
"Delilah!" AND he still sounds like this at 80 yrs of age.
I also grew up with his TV show back in the late 1960's with Mom. In fact Mom took me to his concert as a 10 year old, which was my first concert. All of his songs are great. Thank for sharing.

I found a couple interviews on youtube where Tom talks about the first time he met Elvis and another one where Elvis followed him back to his hotel room to tell him about a song that he thought Tom should record. It was just after Tom had finished a show in Vegas. They are unbelievable.

This song came out in 1967 when I was 4yrs old. I got to see him in Las Vegas in 1982 for my 19th birthday. Thank you . !!!
At a restaurant with him seated at the next table with two other men and at least 5 Barbie doll women. All while he was married. But he does have an amazing voice.
Yes. Tom Jones and Elvis were very good friends
He is 80 years old and his voice is still strong. He had a CD go to the top of the charts recently. I went to a concert back in 1978 and there were woman throwing their panties and bras up on the stage.
Yes he is a crooner (in his early days)..but he has soul and can belt it out with the best of any lead singer and he does great covers .
At that time, there were a lot of crooners. Thanks for the memories 👍
He just as good now and still signs
One of my favorites... Listen to Delilah, It's Not Unusual, I Who have Nothing, and Treat Her Right. He has had an amazing career and sis till a great singer. I think that he is equally at home with Ballads, Pop , and Rhythm and Blues. Mr Jones was a hitmaking machine and a fantastic entertainer in live performances. I am happy that you have discovered him!
Delilah or Tom Jones show with Janis Joplin
He had "The Tom Jones Show" back in the day.
Mate, you have to check out 'unusual' by him. Great song. And you will deffo know it if you ever watched Fresh Prince of Bel Air ❤️
OMGOSH..........Tom Jones was awesome and still is very good today. He and Elvis were good friends and were in Vegas about the same time I think. Elvis was the most popular until he passed away in August, 1977 two months after my son was born and I will never forget that day !!
I haven't seen a reaction from you yet on Tom Jones' "Delilah" Have you? will you? It's so good and heartbreaking.
Green Green Grass of Home is another amazing title of his, and Delilah. His voice remains powerful even today. One of the all time great singers.
