For all you people who comment or put Johnny Marr in a category or comparison to someone else, another song, or especially another band, PLEASE STOP! For the love of God, I cant stand that shit. This man is in a category all his own. Johnny Marr, thank you for your uniqueness.
Johnny Marr never received a knighthood, and he technically never will, and then also even if he did (which he won't due to direct criticism of the Royal Family) he said he would turn it down. He's not a knight, just a damn fine musician. Still a brilliant song.
No man has suffered Rushing through my brain Rolling in my heart Swelling in the wind The blue has redemption The tide that never changed Breaking in my heart We are born again I'd climb in under skies so blue it yearns Hand over hand, carried all the memories And don't look down in fate or fame I tumble and glide into the white wide tide Whirling and whirling And let the slamming waves decide my fate Because hope is all I need And hope breaks on me And hope breaks on me And hope breaks on me And hope breaks on me The moon and the sun glow Take me down The moon and the sun glow Take me down.
This piece of music moves me in ways I’ve never been moved by music! This is an experience! Thank you Sir Johnny Marr!! Please do not stop making music! It feeds my soul!
This must be what Heaven sounds like! Wow! Very impressed by the songs I’ve heard from the upcoming ‘Comet’ album. Johnny is my new favorite guitar player. He uses the guitar like an artist uses a paintbrush -creating layers and textures that in this case are absolutely beautiful.
Jorge is right though. It was recorded in Crazyface, Johnny's abandoned factory turned studio in Manchester. And he's given a few interviews where he talks about the industrial past of the city, the factory etc, colour the mood and the drama of the album. So no, let's not fuck Manchester.
Moises: I'm a big fan of FoTN, but I just don't hear it. Perhaps the interlude piano playing could slightly be considered goth except for the stagnant marching beat that flows from the interlude. Anway, if you like both Marr and Fields you are in good company. We can disagree opinion wise, but it seems we both like the same sort of music. Cheers.
I went to Johnny's show last night in New York, and it was fantastic. He did this song and several others from the new record, and we the audience loved every one. Do try to see him and his band on this launch tour if you can. I'm looking forward to their return this fall!
A GENIUS THAT NEVER STOPS!!! Now presenting another album, better than the previous ones. With impeccable live shows. Producing new bands like "La rueda o el barco" Proving that he grows while others decay!!
He is genius. He finds new sounds and combinations as Moz and his musicians do. When *The Smiths* split up, people were upset. So upset, they speak about it today with the same sense of loss. However, I tend to look at it like this - We now see Morrissey and Marr going their separate ways and those of us who have been avid fans only gain by the double creativity. We now have two bands to watch and twice the listening pleasure and music compilations. This track is very different. When the track first started, I was kinda saying "Oh where is this going"? when the track opened up, I enjoyed the song.
When an artist finds a way to renew his approach to what he does and does it in this way we can only bow and thank him ... not only his natural talent continues to shine but there is a planning and an attention to what he does which is really remarkable ... I continue to consider Johnny my favorite guitarist of all time but not forgetfulness to also love his lyrics really beautiful, deserve to be considered part of his magnificence ...
I wasn't prepared for all these feels...Johnny Marr took me into another dimension between the Veil of existence...and broke my heart...to be reborn. 🐺🌹
Amazing song! It is so fantastic that a man who wrote the most principal pages of 80th's express your self so perfectely using the new styles of the modern sound. He is a genius! I don't ever become tired to hear this song.
classic, but refreshingly contemporary. emotional, while adrenaline fuelled. All of this in the right measure. A great single. I'll await the new album with great excitement. Cheers .
Gorgeous. Johnny isn't afraid to step out of color-by-numbers tunes most of his contemporaries have at this point. Loved The Messenger as well. Viva Marr!

Johnny Marr is a genius. Clear to see who was the true creative force in The Smiths.
Johnny Marr the best guitarist ever....

Totally agree. The man is a legend.
There’s only one Johnny Marr…
With this, Sir Johnny Mar may has just delivered one of his finest, deepest and more gorgeous pieces of music. There’s nothing else to do but enjoy.
Johnny Marr never received a knighthood, and he technically never will, and then also even if he did (which he won't due to direct criticism of the Royal Family) he said he would turn it down. He's not a knight, just a damn fine musician. Still a brilliant song.
i agree….a deep,deeo,deep unbeliebablevsong-made for the next hundred years-special people will listen.. and won‘t forget.EVER ❤

Masterpiece - the harmonies on this track are incredible
I discovered this track on " Spirit Power the best of". Amazing song.
No man has suffered
Rushing through my brain
Rolling in my heart
Swelling in the wind
The blue has redemption
The tide that never changed
Breaking in my heart
We are born again
I'd climb in under skies so blue it yearns
Hand over hand, carried all the memories
And don't look down in fate or fame
I tumble and glide into the white wide tide
Whirling and whirling
And let the slamming waves decide my fate
Because hope is all I need
And hope breaks on me
And hope breaks on me
And hope breaks on me
And hope breaks on me
The moon and the sun glow
Take me down
The moon and the sun glow
Take me down.
that chorus at the end always make me cry dude
I can't resist
László Nagy thank you for this
Thank you for the lyrics.
It's the moon and the surf both in the first line and before take me down.
This piece of music moves me in ways I’ve never been moved by music! This is an experience! Thank you Sir Johnny Marr!! Please do not stop making music! It feeds my soul!
There’s an wonderful intensity to this song. Marr going deep…

Joe Robinson yes he does!! What a wonderful piece of music this is!
Pure Manchester. The sound of the city.
fuck Manchester

Manch "rocks". Gotta love elbow, too
And what does 'Pure Manchester' mean exactly ?
Steve Evans, Pure Love. If I have to explain you, you won't understand it. You need to have lived it before.
This artist is so great. Few notes, but so exciting. Great teaching for the guitarists of the new generation.
Masterpiece Song.
If there ever is a Season 4 of Twin Peaks, I hope Johnny Marr gets invited to play The Roadhouse.
Perfectly yes
Bravo Johnny Mfkn Marr 🎸🎶🎵👌👍
Fuckin love this song the lead in middle is incredible
This is SUBLIME. It's like Inception soundtrack meets Goth meets New Wave meets Indie... how amazing are the vocals in the second part of the song?
¿Goth? Not so much. Soundtrack Music-New Wave-Indie type track---Yes.
Goth: yes. Sounds like early Fields of the Nephilim with a normal voice.
Cheers.
Sprinkle of Breathless too...
Chasing promises...

James Early Managed to bag tickets to go see him in Bath, fucking excited after listening to this!
That's great! I hope you enjoy the show as much we did.
Very atmospheric. Sort of reminds me of Interpol. Love it
Ive played piano, trumpet and harmonica but MAN when johnny plays guitar.....i want to be johnny!!!
A GENIUS THAT NEVER STOPS!!! Now presenting another album, better than the previous ones. With impeccable live shows. Producing new bands like "La rueda o el barco" Proving that he grows while others decay!!
la rueda o el barco!!
Like a fine red wine 🍷 he ages so well 😍

T R U E
I love the way it grows.
I know, it's like a thunder storm slowly building up, unleashing it's power and dissipating almost instantly
I like the guitar riff, this is sublime.
Brilliant. Getting Interpol vibes from the 2nd half of the song
Johnny Marr has got to be one of the best musicians around, this dude has been going strong for years
Johnny, your songwriting moves me like not many others do. Please never stop. You are an inspiration-thank you. 🙏
Don't mess with Marr...he has 'it' all together this gentle man.
It's hard to write a song better than this. Gorgeous.
Absolutely brilliant song
Simply great !
One of his greatest songs imo, it just sounds so different so unreal. Johnny is my favorite guitarist

Amazing song! It is so fantastic that a man who wrote the most principal pages of 80th's express your self so perfectely using the new styles of the modern sound. He is a genius! I don't ever become tired to hear this song.
Fantastic! Using that whammy bar like a shoegazer! I’m glad someone is still making good music.
This man is one of the few who literally put me in a trance while I was watching him play at the show in Seattle Saturday.
Met this musical genius a week ago. He truly is “this charming man”!
I tumble & glide into the white, sparkly Jag. So good on my ears take me down
Beautiful guitar sound!!!
Great track off a great album 👍👍👍
great driving song
classic, but refreshingly contemporary. emotional, while adrenaline fuelled. All of this in the right measure. A great single. I'll await the new album with great excitement. Cheers .
What a atmosphere. This is a song different of others, i'm loving the new singles and can't wait for the full record.
Fantástica a atmosfera mesmo; da pra viajar para lugares distantes sem sair de casa. Coisa que só gênios conseguem fazer.

All I can say is "WOW". My fave Marr tune so far!
God, that piano intro!! for a second I thought I would hear the chords of "Last night I dreamt that somebody love me"
instant love at the first seconds

What a song, so many amazing things going on sonically. Have to say this has to be one of Johnny Mary's finest moments as an artist.

Beautiful song: the one from Comet that has grown on me the most as a durable and haunting tune.
Johnny Marr pure class
Pure Brilliance & delight! Oh!!! And that guitar! Now I am searching for the lyrics.. can anyone point me in that direction?
the moon and the surf are
rushing through my brain
rolling in my heart
swirling in the wind
blue is redemption
the tide that never changed
breaking in my heart
we are born again
I'm climbing under a sky so blue it yearns
hand over hand
carrying all the memories
and don't look down
on fate or fame
I tumble and glide
into the white white tide
whirling and whirling
and let the slamming waves decide my fate
because hope is all I need
hope breaks on me (3x)
the moon and the surf, oh
take me down
the moon and the surf, oh
take me down
take me down
the moon and the surf, oh
take me down
the moon and the surf, oh......

Thank you Johnny for continuing to put out thoughtful and beautiful music in this humdrum age of lipsyners.
Maestro!
