Johnny's 2 minute guitar solo at around 3m15secs sends shivers up my spine... If that's not channelling something spiritual from another DIMENSION, I dont know what is...
Its a shame that Johnny doesnt do that extended guitar solo with Barney in the none live version, because its amazing. All the best from Lancashire UK.

Wow!! 😎I prefer this to the original by a HUGE margin. 🖒🖒 The original is wonderful, but here, Johnny Marr's guitar tones, chord voicings, vocals, and the overall arrangement & groove are absolutely perfect!!! 👏
Solo starting at 3:20 is my favorite Marr style. Love his extended repetition of those chord patterns. Gorgeous bell-like Fender tone. Reminds me of his part in Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others.
Steve Mullany 3.20 The sound of perfection makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and as you say the bell like chimes omitted from the Fender
Johnny Marr brought important improvements to the original version. This one is much more colorful and enjoyable to listen. Bravo Johnny ! Cheers from Brazil !
This is the best live performance I've ever seen, not just the quality of playing and choice of FX, but the whole mood and tone. Its perfection perfected. Their stage presence, the colour of Johnny's Jag, the lights, the shadows, the silver nail varnish and not to mention that drum roll on the outtro. There's no thorn in this bands side, they're exactly where they want and need to be. Hats off.
@@victorymansions I was lucky enough to see him three times on the Comet tour. Each had a different vibe in the audience but the all were fantastic. Easily the best shows I've seen in years. Can't wait for the next tour!
I was there that day, somewhere down the front, not gonna lie it was so weird watching live music in a film environment at midday instead of in a gig venue at 9pm, normally I'm a proper dancer at gigs so standing still (bar the odd bop) was strange. But you know what, I was standing a few feet away from Johnny Fuckin Marr so it was one of the best things ever!
Its easy for people to criticise & say why didn't the audience move more. If i'd been there i'd have been spellbound to witness such greatness. Doubt i'd have moved a muscle.
Totally love this version on guitars brilliance all the way through from start to finish and the guitar interlude in the middle is simple but beautiful. King Johnny is the man!!! 🎸🎵👏🏻💯

Love this performance and live version of this great Electronic song, brilliant how Johnny has put his own stamp on it to make it different from the original version, it just works so well as a guitar track with the beautiful guitar interludes and guitar solos that entwine with those brilliant sounding syncopated guitar riffs, a quality version!!!!
Indeed....also you know that silly song " moves like Jagger?" - it's horrible I know but I mention it because Johnny moves like Snoopy, he wags his head in the same fashion the famous cartoon beagle does when he is feeling blissful. Ya know?
Why so much surprise? Johnny Marr was the one who made music in The Smiths. It is among the 5 best guitarists in the UK. He also has a good voice. He is one of the musical geniuses
Love this performance, which I regularly replay and prefer to the original. The great performance of the whole band, the joy from the drummer and of course Johnny's guitar playing and singing.
Glad you told me his name ...great band Marr has put together, saw them live brilliant.... and you are right he is quality that bassman, good stage presence and looked like he was having a good time...
That middle 8 / breakdown section was really awesome and dare I say pretty timeless. Reminds me why I took up the guitar in the first place. Best guitar solo I've heard for years. To my ears it sounds like the best bits of The The (Soul mining era) and The Stone Roses put through a breakdown / crescendo culled from Sasha's glory days. Roll on Brixton next week!!
Johnny Marr's guitar work combined with Barney's vocals and Neil Tennant backing vocals made for a total banger of the 80's. Wish Electronic could have done some more tracks. They were great. This is exquisite guitar playing.

In my top10 live performances of all time. Bangin' - In the front row! What a band, put together with great understanding. A bit of Brian Jones T Shirt in the mix - Changed over for later video's. Tight, strong and a bitter sweet symphony. Rock and Roll will never die - and I like it.

The world is a better place with Johnny Marr in it.
johnny stripped the 80s off it and gave it a contemporary identity. brilliant!
A great riff is a great riff. This is like hearing the guitar piece it was when written before the 80's sheen was applied to it

Getting Away with it was from the early 90s...
Johnny's 2 minute guitar solo at around 3m15secs sends shivers up my spine...

What's genius about Marr's playing is that he plays lead and rhythm lines at the same time.

I think you'll find Morrissey was the songwriter and Johnny did the music.
Did you mean that Morrissey was the lyricist & topliner? Both Marr & Morrissey acknowledged that Morrissey wrote most of the Smiths' lyrics.
Amy L. Peng, M.D. He now writes his own
Neil Tennant co-wrote it.
All hail Neil Tennant...

Johnny is massively underrated as a singer, an absolutely blinding guitarist. Makes this song his own, also discovered it purely accidentally
Well I guess it is his song given that he wrote the music with Bernard.
Man, never heard Johnny sing before, he’s not perfect but he’s certainly capable when he needs to be, props to the guy he’s got a good voice.
