true that
Marr I'd clear ❤
Interesting opinion. I don't know his work as well as I'm guessing you do. But from what I'm seeing, he is damn good.
Perhaps the most iconic song of the 80s IMO. When I hear this tune, it puts me in an apartment somewhere in the city after a night out clubbing and I'm either getting high or taking off someone's clothes (Probably a women with big hair) and getting lucky.
Johnny is the ultimate rock star. I can't imagine him doing anything else. He's purpose built for the job.
Really? I can see him working as a librarian.
Rock star😂😂😂

Or 'counting cards' in a casino.
The Smiths breaking up was a sh i t thing though.
They were together much better than going on alone.
He does have a certain spirit of command
IMO he's better than a rock star because he has more professionalism, He delivers stellar performances, without any arrogance or drunken antics like a :rock star" from that era might include.
I finally have a version I can play on repeat. Ta v much J 🏆
You can hear how this track laid the groundwork for all the Madchester stuff that was to come. Stone Roses, The Mondays, all of it. Awesome 🎉
omg yeah. loads of students ended up in salford uni because it was morrisey's stomping grounds
This song will still be vital even as the last stars in the universe die and go cold.
So true!
nah, incel songs are not all that important
It depends if you mean incel in the old fashioned sense, it's definitely not an incel movement song. There wasn't any weird resentment of people refusing to satisfy him physically. Mozzer is a complete tosser though.
the sound is like soooooo 80s....hit the club(s)....I'm like sooooo there.......
This is the song that sliced through time and showed us the future....I still remember where I was when I first heard it. Johnny Marr is a genius.
yes.
The bass riff in this is brilliant
Amazing version
If you’re here in 2024 and you know this….youre a fuckin’ legend
❤
gonna cover this banger with my boys on guitar :P
(We are 17)
Amazing !
I cry for this era to be back
You’re the fucking legend mate ❤
This always reminds me of the death of a friend of mine who passed away after this song was released. She was a talented veterinarian. R I.P. Patty.
And?
So sorry for the loss of your friend.
Loss is devastating. I’m sorry.
Give that Bassist a raise.....
Is it sacrilege to say that I think that is the best version out there.
Awesome.
No, just facts.
I love watching someone who loves their craft.
Oh man this is tight!
Johnny's guitar playing is absolute magic and so hard to copy. I was impressed with the vocals on this recording - even some vibrato in there. Love it.
What's amazing is... he doesn't have to show off like a circus performer... no tapping, dive-bomb whammy bar, arpeggio...... I love Love LOVE this song the very first time I listened to it when it was released several decades ago!
Love this version. Can't believe Johnny found a way to improve on a masterpiece.
run 80 miles a week and vegan diet ? 😅🤔
Fantastic .love it
But. Who wrote the music. People.
Who needs that other bloke. Johnny Marr nailed this. Absolutely brilliant. I'm off to Liverpool in April. Outstanding.
Well I am going
It’s funny how when someone has a few different opinions that suddenly anything they accomplished is stricken from the record and people act like like they had no use. That’s 2024 for you.
we saw him yesterday at the o2 in Bristol - absolutely killed it - the whole band were amazing - top work JfM
Thank god for Johnny Marr carrying on the legacy of the Smiths! Can’t wait to see him live next month!
