Thanks for showing before and after pictures without makeup. One can definitely see how the client's face improved after you corrected her previous lip lift surgery. Great job Dr. Linkov!
I really like how this man's tone of voice and cadence in how he speaks is calm enough to be nonthreatening and relax me, but not so much that his voice is boring and make me want to fall asleep. I would thoroughly enjoy having a longer conversation with him. And thank you for this content. I just turned 40 and my lips have started doing this. It's very annoying because I'm a very happy person and sometimes people think I'm upset.
I wonder how much this 'grouchy look' aging effect influences a strained marriage? Where, due to lack of practiced diligent indepth sincere communication conversations, each spouse assumes a negative attitude in each other purely based on their aging appearance. I remember the beginnings of downward spiral conversations (that sadly, ultimately ended up with my ex succumbing to an affair and abandoning our marriage): "What's wrong?" 😬 "nothing. Nothing is wrong."🤨 "Then why do you look so 'angry'? What did I do to you?"🥺 "I'm nOT "angry!!! Sheesh, just leave me alone"😠 ...all because we could no longer "read" each other's faces. And had lost communication and trust. I think it's very important for husbands to _ongoing_ compliment their wife's inner beauty and his attraction and love for her based on how he 'sees' her, with all the appreciation of the remembered beauty of her youth, and the new 'growing old gracefully together' beauty she is transitioning into. And _his_ appreciation of her love and respect for all her husband's practical sacrifices to provide for her over the years, and willingness to love _him_ as he is aging too. I'm thinking it would be better to not focus on striving to stay looking 'young', but to embrace the "growing old gracefully" stage of life together with acceptance, appreciation, and love.
I got the bell-shaped effect, and I hated it SO MUCH. I got a bit dysmorphic and depressed from it. I spoke to surgeons to correct it, but they did not recommend further surgery (probably because of my mental health, and I understand that). I still don't like my mouth, I still regret the lip lift, but I understand that the people who loved me when I had a 2.3mm philtrum, still love me with a bit of a downturned mouth. As to whether I love me, yeah, mostly I do. I still have my dysmorphic days, but it's usually related to other stressors in my life. I think I could have done the self work at the beginning and saved the tears and money! You live, and you learn :)
Thanks for this. I only have one prominent wrinkle, & that’s along the jaw, but for over 60 years my downturned lips have bothered me… but not near as much as the men who tell me to “smile”.
@@sunshine3914yeah, I really wonder how often this “problem” is based on women just being expected to smile even when there’s nothing particular to smile about
@@sunshine3914 Thank you. I don't even have a downturned lips, but random strange men walking past me telling me to smile would drive me crazy! I guess the nice thing about aging, you are not harassed anymore.
Eat well, exercise and focus on enjoying your life and you will feel and look great. Congratulations Doc Gary for growing your hair back, thanks for your excellent help.
I’m curious, do men get this procedure? It’s never occurred to me (as a guy) to be worried about whether I look like I’m frowning, but I know a lot of women are told by random strangers to smile as if it’s not okay for them to go about life with a neutral or even sour face.
Interesting question. Generally, even though it's been changing, women do have more pressure to get procedures done. I think most men are oblivious to their "flaws", while women get random comments all the time that can even contradict themselves. I think it's sometimes strange how I get told something is wrong with me, while the guy isn't perfect either (which is normal ...). But yeah, big difference between genders when it comes to surgery and I think men get other types of procedures done than women.
I have always had a resting frown since young. Like another viewer said, " i don't mind because it looks a bit regal." I really thought this video was going to show facial exercises that reduce the friwnie look! Silly me!
Thanks for revealing that, I’ll stop watching it now, got 1/4 through it as I read comments. Best I do is press my fingers into areas sagging and then figure out what muscles I can feel moving underneath that skin and exercise them up and down back and forth for a minute or so almost every day. It does make a difference, people don’t guess me as near 70. Also put pure Lanolin on my face 2x a day since in my 20’s. Yeah it’s thick, but it works. I’ll never look 20 again, but I’ll settle for😊 people guessing I am 10 or more years less than I am.
I do wonder if exercises for the face, like holding a half smile whenever possible, can help strengthen the muscle that makes your corners lifted? IDK about the anatomy obviously lol. I did notice that for the last 8 years or so I was hating my eyebrows because they were very straight and low set. I made it a point to isolate the muscles that raise only the outer corners of my brows and now, all this time later, my face kinda tends to reset that way with the outer brows lifted a lot. Facial yoga? IDK what do you think, Dr?
I was doing the same with my brows, and now I have horizontal wrinkles on my forehead in places of the muscle which was lifting my outer corners of eyebrows. I'm 28. I also have one horizontal wrinkle on my whole forehead, so maybe that's how my face ages 🤔🤷🏼♀️
I'm not a doctor but logically speaking facial yoga is actually the opposite of getting Botox. Why would you move your mouth or eyes and this way deepen your wrinkles that actually partly come from muscle movement? I personally think facial yoga is fraud but facial massages could theoretically work I guess. There are lots of Asian influencers that promote facial yoga but it's their genetics not yoga that keeps them young. Hope I helped you with your doubts!
I’ve had a down turned mouth since childhood…Always called miserable and sulky. 60 now and it’s still the same…very depressing cos now apparently it’s my resting biatch face…🥺
Oh my, I had never heard of the corner lip lift until now. I have been eager for a lip lift, but I have feared that it would give me a mild inverted smile. The corner lip lift could fix that. I am going to see my plastic surgeon right away!
Hi Dr. Gary - I love your podcast so much! Can you please bring your wife Liz on again? Today’s show was so relevant to me, my students ask me why I’m mad and I tell them my face is just that way 😜

I had one strong smoker's line and many shallow ones, so I had my derm (Sadra Jazayeri, md) fill them in when I got my first lip injections at about 48. He is a magician and made them all disappear! Im not big into cosmetic procedures, but I'm so glad i had him do them. It's nearly 10 years later, and they never came back. I guess the filler just spread through the area and smothed it all. If you can find a doctor as skilled - or you live nearby - I can't recommend it enough. Keep in mind that Dr Jaz won't create anything unnatural, like big lips. Thats not his style. His specialty is refreshing or subtly tweaking what God gave you, not playing Dr Frankenstein.
My natural lips look not that great and the upper lip is bigger than the other one and goes outwards and down. So I just move my lower lip out and hold my upper lip in with the lower lip to make my lips look how I like them!
Thanks Gary. Would you consider doing a video on where you place lip filler? I remember you commenting on a past video you don't tend to fill some of the commonly filled places (unless I have misunderstood), but you didn't elaborate on it. It would be great to have to some guidance for when getting filler on what is best practice. Thanks again.
don'T forget scaring from face lift - actually from any procedure, there will be scars and just a feeling that the scars are bigger than they appear as you just "feel" the pull or the changes.

Looking at your picture, you are very beautiful, and I'll bet you are over focussing on that area of your face. If you choose to do something, start minimally invasive. In my experience, avoid filler. I'm 57, and I swear every bit of filler I put in my face is still there and has moved south. I feel I look a bit puffy and heavy in the face. And at my age, dissolving it is not recommended. Honestly I didn't start doing stuff to my face until I was 43. I still get told I look 10 years younger than my peers. But, my sister and my non-beauty 'obsessed' peers are heaps happier than I am :) Still, if you must proceed ... At your age, fraxel may be OK but in my personal experience it does no more than micro needling at 0.5mm every 2 to 3 months. Get a powered pen style needler (not a manual roller) and do it yourself as that saves $$. Put the savings in your 401k (superannuation)... Also, go NO DEEPER than 0.5mm or 0.75mm if you must. Oil pulling is not only good for mouth health, but the swishing exercise is very good for the face. Too, the oil nourishes the facial skin from the inside out. It won’t solve every problem, but it rejuvenated my face - and teeth - to a great extent. (I do it 5-7 days a week)
I think the shortened Phil trim makes them nose look longer…then, when. Smiling, the patient looks as if the end of their nose is covering their front teeth! SO unappealing!!!
@DrGary I need a lip flip and dental. Why because my area between my nose and lip now covers my teeth! I had a beautiful smile and in 3-4 years it’s changed and I constantly bite my lip when eating. Do you think insurance would help me? If not how can I fix this ?
Dr, you don't mention aquamid, great filler that goes sub-dermal and perfect to upturn mouth corners. And it's permanent so you save money not going back. I used sculptura, radiesse, Restylane and Juvederm prior to aquamid and they would all only last 3-6 months tops
How do you know where to start with plastic surgery? My skin is just starting to show signs of aging: fine lines, laxity, slight discoloration. I feel pretty confident in my daily routine to care for my skin but am considering “more.” Where to start?

I’ve been puffing out my cheeks whenever I think about it to try to change my resting face position. Will that help with the nasolabial folds and down-turned mouth?

Who would be the bus specialist to perform a complex surgery (in respect of keeping my eyes ethnic)?
The lips lift looks like a permanent face of disgust.... not all the time. And maybe you'll need some additional tweaks done to achieve that lightly lifted nasal frown of disgust. It's a bit sad actually in my opinion. Looks like deep plane face-lift and fillers is the best combination. Like your take on the combination of lip lift first and corner, after. I would love to be able to afford you. Travel from Norway. Surgery. Stay. Nah. No man will be let close to my face with a scalpel, but you. So gracefully it is Love your content❤
I think you're both right. Objectively, you never NEED to fix your face surgically, unless of course it's a health concern. However, to each their own. If people want to pay to have a procedure done while understanding the risks and consequences, more power to em. C'est la vie.

We can’t walk around with smiles frozen 24/7 😀
He's a plastic surgeon - of course he encourages all surgery methods! $$$
You look better. Keep it up 👍👍👍
Will neurotoxin injections of the DAO muscles worsen jowl formation?
I have drooping lower eyelids and I’m finally looking to get them fixed. I’m concerned that my ethnicity is kept however, I’ve never really seen how my eyes should look being an Afro-Asiano-European. Who would be the bus specialist to perform a complex surgery (in respect of keeping my eyes ethnic)?
They way your eyes look now is the way they should look
If someone has used liquid minoxidil and finasteride for 7 years and they want to get a transplant do they continue using minoxidil afterwards ?
Free= inject a smile!
We’re all getting older.. let’s get over it!
Be real!
I have that frown look with jowls 😢
sounds painful, I think I'll just smile more
I'll just age gracefully.. to me, the risks outweigh the benefits
Can you do a video on jack harlow next? He definitely got a chin implant but says it’s just his beard
I think I would greatly benefit from a chemical peel I'm just very scared.
The way he said saggy necks sent me 😂
My corners are down on my baby pic. 😮

So gracefully it is
Love your content❤
Had botox and it hit wrong muscle ...was a nitemare
I'm so sorry! I can't imagine how scary.
Do face yoga/face exercises (it really does work, but you have to be consistent).
You’re welcome.
❤
You never mention face yoga.
Any thoughts on radiesse?
So higher metabolism = shorter Botox? Like if you run ultramarathons for example then your Botox would last way less time?
This all sounds so painful!
Nothing to improve.. it's fine as it is.
To each their own.
I think you're both right. Objectively, you never NEED to fix your face surgically, unless of course it's a health concern. However, to each their own. If people want to pay to have a procedure done while understanding the risks and consequences, more power to em. C'est la vie.
Pero la cicatriz?

I really want those little lines at the side of my lips to be upturned! In my 40s I am noticing them more. A very informative video, thank you! ❤👄
