As a former hair transplantee I will strongly recommend: if your hair is thinning, just go the full-bald route. You will have to take finasteride the rest of your life to prevent other non-transplanted top hair from thinning and it has its own side effects. Not only that but one FUE procedure alone is typically not full enough to look natural so you'd likely need 2, about 6 months apart and a ton of $$$. I hated my hair before and after the transplant but I've never loved it more since going completely bald. Less maintenance and most guys will have a head that looks good with it
Hopefully, someday, that little fringe of hair above the ears will return to style...women don't really care after the full head of beautiful hair is gone--but we lose a lot of ours as well, to be honest. When men just needed the fringe trimmed, and women just wore hair cut simply, no one had nearly the expense or time consumption and their egos accepted it without shame. I remember those guys...I worked with a lot of them, while my dad wore this giant corkscrew we tried not to look at bc it was so ugly. Until they invent Norplant or permeant-type treatments, we need to accept aging. But it's so hard.

Watching this, I noticed that Trump and I have had the exact same hair color changes, at the same phases in life, so I'm wondering if I'm about to go strawberry blonde. My grandmother and great aunt went through the same changes, and ended up with light red and white hair.
@@JanelleDianeHthat's so cool. genetics is wild. I remember years ago I watched a pewdiepie video where he said men in his family don't go grey, they just go blonde, and his father as an older man had now a dusty blonde colour. it was the first time I heard of anyone who doesn't go gray!
There was a claim that he'd had a botched procedure at the back of his head. This led to pain and bad scarring, leaving the area unable to grow hair. He keeps that hair long and tries to hide the scars and lack of hair. Over all, this was very informative.
This is the first ever episode from your series that I've seen... just plain awesome, this is not a topic I would usually follow, but I am hooked! I mean - what a professional presentation in every way... and want an incredible presentation/delivery - I showed this to my wife to highlight how well you pace - most folks go way to fast... but the enunciation and pace is perfect and allows "slower" brains to catch up and follow the topic. Also I find it quite ironic - in that you (respectfully) are a great looking face and it is complemented by your confidence (zero arrogance) - just very pleasant and relatable. Best of success, and I've really enjoyed many episodes! Finally, add the respect and dignity with which you approach the discussion on individuals that irrespective of how we may feel about them are still human beings - you are one impressive Dr. and with the talent to discuss topics and explain them to they lay folks - thanks!
As a newspaper reporter with thousands of interviews in my career, I am also struck by how pitch perfect this doctor's delivery and enunciation are. A pleasant, informative and concise discussion of the head of a man we all hate and despise....
He also has the correct choice of words. "Complex combing to look the way that it usually does" is a prime example of good language usage. Donald Trump would like his hair to look the same all the time (It somehow makes him think he's a better person !) Dr GL simply says that when it is combed by DT it's to cover up all the scars. Typical of Trump never to have said he's had hair transplants ! He's a born liar. I had an office colleague who had a hair transplant. We always laughed because it looked like he'd planted a row of leeks on his head. Just like Dr GL explains. So funny.

What an incredibly rich and equally complex case study! Now I understand why you needed time to analyze it. Very informative and eye-opening, especially to people like me who are not familiar with hair procedures. Now I have better appetite to read further about rotational flaps, as well as FUT and FUE procedures. Now I can also roughly figure out when someone's hairline is too low relative to the natural position. I guess you can see how much attention I paid watching this video and, most importantly, how good your teaching skills are 💪💫🌻.
Yet, in the manosphere, black women are besieged with criticism about their hair, or lack of it and what they do as they try to look good. Fortunately, most of us succeed. Just think if we'd had the money to get trump flaps and plugs there might be fewer extension use.
My husband, at 79, still has really thick hair, but I was interested to hear about the 3 sections of the face, as he's always had a low hairline. Found myself looking from the screen to his face, trying to work out his facial proportions!😅 His hair started going grey at 37, but still needs a haircut every month. Genetics is an interesting study!
One of the greatest curiosities of the last decade: how does Donald Trump get his hair to look like that? You have provided an excellent historical timeline of potential procedures, as well as educated us on such procedures. I assisted a facial cosmetic plastic surgeon years ago. Back then, hair plugs and flaps were most common. But I found the plugs procedure hard to watch!
I always went with the "flap" procedure theory because it made a lot of sense given the directional pattern of his hair. I WILL say whatever they did to manipulate his hair is extremely resilient and that's the one pro to whatever it is holding his hairline in place.
I think it's a living creature of some sort that clings to his scalp with barbed claws. Probably a symbiotic relationship. I imagine it's a creature that must feed on stupidity or ignorance. I would imagine it detaches at night and latches back on come morning.
Trumps first wife of the three testified in court during the divorce about about his hair transplant. She said he complained about how painful it was and he was not prepared for it like she was with her own plastic surgery. To this day he denies he's ever had a transplant. 😂

I started losing my hair in my early 20's. THANK GOD !!! My hair looked like Don King's hair. It was horrible. (Genetics is a wonderful thing, since my mom had the same type of hair, or as she referred to it as, Brillo Pad hair). When my hair loss was really bad, I just simply started shaving my head, and even though, that can be a pain in the butt too, I prefer it, over having Brillo Pad hair again.
WOW ! I clicked unintentionally but stayed all the way to the end. I hope you teach, because you are very good at it. What helps the most about this -- how long the man was obsessed with his hair.
I have never understood his hair, why would you pay someone to make your hair look terrible? The diagram of the flap was frightening, it looks like a labotomy.
I agree. His hair has alway looked fake. He has never had a natural-looking procedure done on his hair. Most of that is due to the fact that he was getting the best-available hair replacement at the time, but the procedures were primitive by today’s standards. It’s really like everything else about him. He is desperate to present himself as being more intelligent, more savvy, more fit, and more of a winner than he actually is. He seems to think that everyone believes everything he says - like that he weighs 215 pounds or that he won the 2020 election. Of course he thinks he’s fooling everyone with his very obviously fake hairline.
@@joemfahey I know people in their 80s and 90s that look far better, still fit, trim, they're not rich and just live a better healthier lifestyle and it shows. I would not leave my house with my hair looking like that.

Nothing wrong with being bald. Imagine all the savings on hair care. I'm nearly 70. I was bald before age 30. Wore hairpieces for a few years. I had an excellent stylist and looked good, but hairpieces are expensive and became unaffordable for me. Finally decided to be comfortable with no hair.
I grew up seeing my grandfather's photo on the wall of my grandmother's house and visiting him in the nursing home. That made me comfortable with baldness. Even though I was the third son and went bald soonest, I was comfortable with it. My ex-wife insisted I apply Rogaine but I began to have side-effects. My insistence on not dying because I was balding contributed to our divorce. IT's HAIR, NOT YOUR IDENTITY!!! You should be growing up as you grow old....
Spot on! The men I have known throughout my life have had long hair, short hair, almost no hair! It does not really make a difference and neither should it! if you were in love with a woman and she had to have her head shaved for cancer treatment would you love her less? Be who you are not a fake!
We all don't have the same level of self-esteem. Some of us feel better when we think we look good. It's not for anyone else to judge how we want to look.
I worked with a software developer that was still pretty young and was bald in the center of his head and had a ring of hair. One day, he walked in with a full head of hair and it was an amazing transformation. He had started going to one of those places that "harvests" hair cut from the back of your head and glues it on. Sure, you have to go there to get haircuts and probably maintenance, but it looked AMAZING.
i’m glad to see someone in the comments doesn’t view hair transplants as something gross or negative. It has so much stigma but I think it’s so much more valid than all the crazy things poeple get done to their bodies and faces. THIS is what cosmetic surgery is for. I wish it was harder for people to get cosmetic surgery and used for cases like these (hair restoration, severe facial deformities especially if they affect the person’s life negatively if they want to correct it, braces, etc.)
@@troncat.t Molly wasn't commenting on a hair transplant; she was talking about a wig made out of the person's own hair. It's very expensive, and the client has to go in to get a new hair wig as the old one sloughs off.
It's also important to look at pictures of his mother's hair--super fine and combed, styled and sprayed into place. People with thinning hair always seem to think that length is going to give them the look of thick hair, hence the combover, the teasing and the spraying to hold it in place. His mother's hair stylist joked that she went through a large can of hairspray a week, constantly touching up her hairdo with more spray, industrial strength! Excellent video--I wish more surgeons viewed their work artistically!

Dr. Gary gets so much credit and respect for treating such a comedic slow curve ball with the same objectivity and respect that he affords to all of the topics on this channel. This man’s hairline is “complicated”. 😉
I always think he would look the best with a typical business haircut; parted on the side, etc and naturally grey. Ive seen him like that in pictures. To me, its the best look for him.
Ivana told a story about some botched treatment he received for his hair. It was either a doctor or the treatment she had recommended, so he blamed her. She also said he physically attacked her for it.
No he didn't. He loved her so much that he just placed her on the fairway of one of his golf coursea. You know that the burial was discounted because of that. Trump always needs to have a bargain. Seems to me that if he had all those transplants that each time brains escaped! With that said, Harry Morgan, as an actor, was a very public figure. I don't think any of us thought less of him as a person, a character, or an actor as he let his hair thin naturally. In fact, it, as it does with most been, added character to him.
Yes to Stallone, please Dr. Gary. I cannot figure out what is going with his hair. I know it's not real, but I thought maybe it was a lace-front type wig.
Stallone had one of the earliest versions of direct hair implantation in 1992/3 (in his home) when filming Cliffhanger. In the movie they used dark concealer to hide his scalp and combed his hair forward. Of course he’s had many procedures since.
I say this as a middle-aged man whose hairline has obviously changed since his 20's: just play the hand you're dealt; the people in your life who really love you won't judge you otherwise.
He has been a household name since the 80’s. He hasn’t had the luxury of only being concerned with just the people around him. Good grief, look at the petty comments here.
I can’t imagine being a surgeon that does these hair procedures. It seems so tiny and precise. Kudos to you and other surgeons for what y’all do, whether it’s for our health or cosmetic.
Someone photo-shopped Trump with how he would look without having done anything to his hair; i.e., how it would look naturally if he hadn't had the hair plugs. You would not recognize him with his white "flat" hair (and no bangs). The difference is astonishing.

The takeaway lessons here for me are all about waiting until cosmetic procedures have been refined to a certain level before having them done. Having the money to do something when it’s new doesn’t make the decision to do it wise.
The rotational flap surgeries are scaring me. Especially after the mention of possible flap necrosis. I feel like you'd have to be real brave to undergo that procedure.

It's okay to love yourself as you are, but it's also okay to desire to improve one's looks. It's all about happiness.
I heard that one of the problems with scalp reductions is that sometimes the resulting scar widens over time as the scalp tries to stretch back to its original location, resulting in a wide, scarred, hairless area between the flaps.

Looks strange but hey… the guy still has hair and he started balding 50 years ago
@@currenteventsenthusiast9477 Sometimes trying to preserve hair is not the best choice
@@currenteventsenthusiast9477 The entire planet is making fun of how crappy and fake his hair looks.
He had how many (hopefully very) painful procedures for what looks like he's wearing roadkill as a hat? He played himself. His combover helmet is the perfect visual representation of what a fake fraud he is. One strong gust of wind and the scarred ugliness underneath is revealed.
He probably stiffed the surgeons on the bills too, as he is wont to do.

Oh yeah....and it looks soooo good!
Not
Holy crap! Fascinating and gruesome. Good video. Clear explanation. Smart doctor.
When you showed baby Donald 0:20 I couldn't help but try to imagine him clenching his fist and yelling in baby voice "You'y fiyeyd".
Please analyze Howard Stern’s hair
The American Hair Loss Association names hair flap surgery as number one on their list of procedures to avoid.
my grandfather when he died at 87 still had all his hair
Rotational flap transplant sounds brutal.
12:30 minutes to say his hair looks like sh__t. LOL!!
For a fun ride you should look at what his mom, Mary Trump’s hair looked like. It explains just as much if not more. 🤷
I have just seen the bilder of Mary Anne tRump (neé Mac Leod) the Trumpet's mom, in Google. Her hair was changing colour like his, but was obviously anders, BC her styling was very feminine and elaborate.
I reckon he has the same hairdresser
Holey Moley!!
I am a medical doctor.
This Doctor (Plastic Surgeon) seems completely legit to me. What a great historical review.
Good on you Sir!
You are an Excellent communicator! I agree with Tymbus below.
I think when he got the FLAP procedure, they dug too deep and actually combed over parts of his brain, which was barely visible as there wasn't much...
Oh god, that was so funny 😁 thx
@@pauldacus4590 OMG, that was so funny 😁
Um…. Maybe you should be worried about your own brain 🧠 Donald Trump is the ONLY choice for president of the U.S 🇺🇸
Kamala Harris is not an option. Have you seen what’s going on right now??? Yeah… she’s got to go!! I don’t want my door kicked in by illegals
Maybe they removed some brain matter also?
If he was a client of mine, I'd really would NOT want people knowing about it.
Dr. Linkov is indeed an artist!
I’ve always wondered what was up with DT’s hair. Thanks for your analysis.
That's what Brutus The Barber Beefcake thought too when he damaged a pair of clippers while trying to cut that haystack backstage at Wrestlemania 4.
Regardless of one's political persuasion, one could summarise this is the concise history of transplantation on one head. Remarkable.
Very interesting I just thought he had a hard luck sew-in toupee, because his hair look’s crazy . Thanks for the video.
Dr. Linkov, I detect that you have a reverence about you that I'm sure makes your patients at ease and makes them confident that you have their best interest in mind. I genuinely appreciate your informative videos. The hair subject videos always generate an introspection in me as I ponder my own "high forehead" which has grown higher over the years. So I always think about my paternal grandfather. He also had a high hairline while keeping the rest of his hair. I think about how much I loved my grandfather, how much of a good person he was, and how I'm honored to have my hair resemble his more and more with each passing year.
OMG
Hi Doc, really enjoyed the life events disclosure. I Also watch your hair subject videos with great interest. You’ve been through a lot and come through the challenges well. Keep up the good work and God bless you.
A real life embodiment of "Evil Makes You Ugly". He went from an okay-looking young man to that thing we see, today.
Being confident in oneself has everything and then nothing to do with hair. I am glad I have never gone through these procedures. But it does seem possible to keep it with todays measures. Another expert analysis Dr. Gary. 👍
That was comprehensive, insightful, and interesting.
Thank you. It is also a topic I think millions upon millions of people wanted to see handled by an expert. I can’t wait to get my pennies in a row and contact you for my own hair transplant surgery, finally, doc!
I didn't expect this to be so serious and analytical. Feels like detective work. I'd love to see an episode on singer/musician Gary Numan. His eary 80's hair transplants up to his ( I assume) "High Performance Wig" he now wears.
Do a 2-for with Jerry Casale from DEV-O! He looks silly with that muskrat on -his- head.
@@Tangobutton Ha! Definitely agree.
But the most recent procedures obviously involved obtaining hair from a donkey’s hindquarters and implanting it erratically
Prior to the grotesque rotational flap procedure.
