  • After three weeks on the North Island of New Zealand, we make our way South and travel along the West Coast where we pass by the Pancake Rocks and finally arrive Franz Josef Glacier. We want to do the Heli Hike to get the full experience but does that really work out?

    When it's cold out you may as well find a glacier ;) Not much to say, but I'm still enjoying your New Zealand adventures! Everywhere looks beautiful, I'm sure this is a trip you will never forget

    Love your editing guys. 1:39, my absolute favorite wow - the colors... it's amazing. This makes us excited BIG TIME to get there!

      The water colors are just ridiculous in so many places in NZ :)

    The path to the glacier looked really smooth, loved the waterfalls along the way.It seems that the weather is still quite cold in New-Zealand. 3 degree is not warm at all!

      Yes, it was a nice walk, very easy.. :) Yeees, it's still sooooo cold. :( Now in Wellington is much better but still super windy..

    Tina I love your blue eyes they are amazing girl. :) On another note, Gab has been trying to persuade me to go to New Zealand and although I want to, it was never a priority for me, but seeing your vlog is making me DROOL! Those landscapes! That nature! WOW!

      Haha, thank you :*
      We actually wanted to go last year but then we ended up going to SA, so there are some similarities in our priorities... But now that we had a couple of months, we figured this would be the right time... It surely is amazing! :)

    I'm planning a trip to New Zealand, and I'll put the Pancake Rocks on my list! Gorgeous shots of the scenery!

      Oh yes, you should :) But it's really just a walk, nothing major :)

    Aw sucks that you couldn't do the helicopter ride, but hey, you hiked further than we did! Really like the cinematic driving shots, and the shots of the wheels as you're driving are cool too :)

      Yes, it would've been a great thing to do! Haha, all Stefan really :)

    Pancake rocks = stunning landscapes! Sucks that you got cancelled on but great that you made the most of it and you still made it to the top.

      or as close as you could get

    No shortcuts! lol. I feel like it's more rewarding when you take the more challenging route (and usually cheaper too!) Too bad you couldn't get closer to the glacier.

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      Yeah, that's the thing, you cannot get really up without the helicopter... :(

    Oh what luck! As if the tour got cancelled twice! Im happy you two decided to continue on and walk to the glacier though! Makes for an even better adventure! :)

      Yep, that was a bummer... but the walk was really nice any way :)

      Someday Maybe time constraints and money. I am only in NZ a few days at a time every few weeks, and since I can't drive the only bus route the that is offered from Christchurch to Franz Josef is via Aoraki, Queenstown and Wanaka, so it becomes a 13/14 hour day

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      Oh wow... That is such a long time really, with the car it's so quick... It's really beautiful, so you should try to do it at some point :)

      Haha, well, I took a sabbatical and Stefan works online, so he would be the digital nomad of the two of us, but he doesn't like the term... :D Will have to go back home end of June :(

    I love the pancakes, and the glacier had helicopter tours on sale through bookme.co.nz it's what I use to save while in NZ. Well the hike didn't workout for you, at least you made the best of it.

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      We actually didn't use that site... But they didn't end up running anyway, so we got back our money :)

    Heyyy! You guys were/are in my neck of the woods. Coming to Christchurch at all? Its sooo windy on the West Coast haha. Haven't been to the glacier yet but gonna head down in January! Also, cant believe I wasnt subbed but I am now =)

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      We were in Christchurch already... Would've been great to catch up. But if you make it to Wellington within the next two weeks, we are up for it :) Oh, you'll have a great time for sure :)

    Wonderful to see you enjoy NZ so much. Shitty thing about the flights.. Are you guys making your way to V-town any time soon?

    • @SomedayMaybe

    The glacier looks so pretty. Why could you not get any closer?

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      Apparently it's too dangerous. Two guys climbed over the barrier a couple of years back and got smashed by rocks falling... Puh..

  • @TheLostLemurian
    @TheLostLemurian 7 років тому

    Aw man that sucks that your flight got cancelled two days in a row! Good on you for doing the hike though. Was that a helicopter I saw? I hope the flights later in the day didn't end up running, that would suck if only yours was cancelled!

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому +1

      Yes, at least we got to do the hike :) Yep, helikopter in the air, but without us sadly... :D

  • @JauntingJourneys
    @JauntingJourneys 7 років тому

    That hike is amazing and since you made it to the glacier in one go the excitement level would be even more on the next day....was that the closest to the glacier one can go?

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      Yes, you cannot go closer... Two guys did it a couple of years back and were hit by rocks... Don't want to try that :D

    • @JauntingJourneys

      Someday Maybe oh in that case no one should do that...

    Awww ... also recently I saw many people's travel to NZ . Is it cost a lot buck ?

    • @SomedayMaybe
      @SomedayMaybe  7 років тому

      I think it's pretty expensive, especially when you are used to traveling SEA :D
