- We took on the challenge to spend one day in Wellington, New Zealand, on a budget of only US$ 10. We managed to find a lot of free things to do:
Free Introducing Parliament Tour (www.parliament.nz/en/visit-an...)
Walking along the beautiful waterfront (wellington.govt.nz/about-welli...)
Visiting Te Papa Museum for free (www.tepapa.govt.nz/visit/book...)
Climbing Mount Victoria with a view over the city (www.wellingtonnz.com/discover...)
We only spent money on food and drinks, which made it a super enjoyable day, living on US$ 10 in a rather expensive city.

Loved this so much! Makes me so much more excite for my trip to Wellington in 17 Days WOOHOO
This actually looked like a very interesting day, you'd never think it would be this easy to have so much fun with so little money. Plus all the walking, that must be good for your health too, so it's a win-win! Love the video!
It actually was! We didn't really expect it to be as Wellington is frickin expensive... But then there are really nice things you can do for free... And yes, we got some exercise for free with it :D
It seems exciting to be able to enjoy such an experience, to know different places with a certain percentage of money. It's amazing.
Really great idea for a video, travelling has taught us the value of keeping a budget! The food at the end looked awesome as well for the price, there's always good value, you just have to look for it.
It sure is important, especially when you travel longer term, not just a couple of weeks at a time... But you still want to enjoy your time...
So happy to see you being back!
:) yes, it's great to be back! no vlogs but at least videos :)
yummy how delicious is all that food! The noodles, the curry and the egg wrap! mmmm I think I would like the veg noodles the best! Great video! Wellington looks really nice!
Yeeeees, one of the main reasons we travel is because of the food :) That egg wrap was really the culinary highlight of the day. I feel like we made the most out of the 10 USD we had :D Glad you enjoyed watching it :)
Awesome video about Wellington!!! New Zealand has been one of my biggest travel dreams and I didn't that you can get away with spending just $10 US and live there for full day. Totally love the Parliament Building!!!
yes, well... We only spent that on the food haha... But it sure is a beautiful place to be :)
You packed so many cool activities in your day for only 10 dollars!Wellington looks like a beautiful place.
Haha, we tried... Also, we were lucky with the weather to be honest :) Wouldn't have been that great in the rain :D Glad you enjoyed it :)
it cracks me up when people make videos about my city haha
Amazing what you can do with only 10$ :D Coffee is definitely a priority!
Great job you two :)
I didn't know the US dollar is stronger than the New Zealand currency. The Beehive building looks interesting. Stephen must have coffee!!! the chinese crepe looks yummy! that's a lot of things to do in a day for $10! and welcome back! hope you'll be making more videos!
Well, it is :) I think it's stronger than most dollar currencies, same with Australia..
Haha, yes, he's somewhat addicted I think but if that's his biggest guilty pleasure, I'm okay with that :)
Well, we will be but not the weekly vlogs... Just some videos now and then. :) Thank you so much :)
Aaaaaannnnndddddd they're back! Wooooooop. You have been missed!
New Zealand seems like so long ago right!?
Hahaha, kind of back... And yes, NZ feels like years ago. It was a real surprise cutting the footage, couldn't really remember what we had done :D
You guys managed to do so much in a day with only $10 especially adding in that 4.5 NZ flat white haha. All of the free attractions were quality things to do and that view was awesome!
Haha, yes, totally unnecessary but definitely worth it :D
I haven't been to Wellington in a long time so I'd forgotten about all the things you could do there. One of my aunties used to live there though and I remember it being a nice city.
It is a pretty amazing city really. We both studied in Melbourne and somehow Wellington has a similar vibe, just colder and much smaller :) haha
wow, now that is impressive, i like you style! We always do as much things as possible with as little cash spent as possible haha. When traveling as a family of 4 it has to be done! We hope to go to NZ one day, it looks so amazing! loving the green light that is shaped as a lady (1:55) Those wax models are so life like ( spooky) Great video guys! we love it! You guys are awesome!
Ahh, thank you guys :) Yes, I can totally imagine that being much more important when there are four of you :) It really is a great country, we especially enjoyed Wellington :)
And yes, we loved the lady traffic light, they had quite a few of those in the city :)
nice, love it :)
The closest I have been to Wellington is Sydney. OK I guess, but I have also done a run in Wellington on a LifeFitness treadmill which shows a run on the screen as you dredge along on the dreadmil. I like your video better than the treamill version :)
Haha, I guess that kind of counts :D maybe we can arrange something with the treadmill guys :)
Well done guys! I didnt think that was possible in this country ahah =) I might have to do a Christchurch edition =) $4 flat white...totally worth it!
Neither did I... It wasn't easy but in the end it was really interesting to try :) That way you know what you can get for free if you have to... Would love to see a Christchurch one :)
The conclusion is that your expenses was food for the day. New Zealand is bloody expensive so save those dollars!!
It is super expensive... We were lucky there are quite a few activities for free. But food is just ridiculously expensive...
Someday Maybe living in Seattle those places looked super cheap. Those types of small meals are generally around $10 in Seattle. A small coffee here is gonna be at least $3.
What I like about budget trips is the calories lost due to too much walking. :-) and I'm relieved to know that there's much food that can be bought at $10 in New Zealand :-)
Haha, totally agree... That's one of the perks of budget trips. Also, we had to climb up that mountain to get home again :D
That's cool that there are free museums. I don't know any free museums in Ukraine, though 10 USD would be more that enough for 1 day, even if you should pay some entrance fees:)
Well, thatÄs the difference then I guess... It's just so super expensive in New Zealand... :D
Give the man his coffee! We love coffee! Coffee is life. mmmm coffeeeee... Gona go drip some coffee now actually.. Great coffee, i mean vlog..
Hahaha, that's what I thought, let him have his coffee, so he's happy :)
Hi Someday Maybe, my friend and I are from Germany and we are going to Wellington next year after graduation. We'd like to have our own place in Wellington but our budget is low. Do you have any good advice where to find cheap places to rent ? :)
Well, this will be rather difficult.. :D Wellington and New Zealand in general is rather expensive. We found our place on airBNB but it sure wasn't cheap. So I'm sorry that we aren't of any help really... But we hope you have a great time, Wellington is great :)
Looks like those flat whites were really good if Stephen was desperate for one;-)
what is your thumbnail app called
No app, just did it myself...
The music is so loud!
I'm going to take it that US$10 does not include the ~NZ$500 p/w for a two bedroom flat in Kelburn? LOL
Bu seriously though, NZ has _lots_ of beautiful and interesting attractions that are completely free. It's just the eating out that's expensive, along with your accommodation when in the major cities.
Haha, yes, that would be excluded... :-D For sure, there are so many things you can do for free. Accomodation seemed to be expensive even in smaller or more rural places.. haha... But definitely worth a visit!!
My friend! Where are those 5 dollars noodles? Im really hungry and poor. 😕
Fabulous English.
$10 USD is only 3 Wellington Flat Whites a day.... I could never survive.
Haha, that's true! It's tough... :D
So how long did you spend in Wellington? Another good free activity is art exhibition openings, there are 55 galleries in the city so free wine/beer and food.
We were there for 4 weeks... It was an amazing time to be honest :) Such a beautiful city!
Haha, that's such a great tip! Also, why not mingle with all the arty creative people, right? :)
