    I fully agree. Got myself an Ocean one GMT with the Batman Bezel. I was looking for the 'original' Rolex, but i don't want to wait maybe 5 years or so. So i purchased the Steinhart and i am absolutely happy with it. For me the Rolex is obsolet now. What i also like very much on those Steihart watches is the bracelet with the screws. You can adjust the width perfectly over a few days. Wear it and check until you find the perfect size. The only requirement is a good screwdriver because the screws are really tight. 😁

    I had one of these for two years, utterly gorgeous to look at and outstanding quality. I have recently sold it but only to buy a Steinhart Ocean 39 Premium 904, it will be my third Steinhart. Might be interesting to add that this is an older O39 Black - they've since changed the ceramic bezel insert to a more traditional one that has markings that are cut into the insert and filled with white paint. I think yours is a gen one version which had those metallic looking markings on the bezel that will "fade out" under certain lighting conditions.
    I've owned seven Steinharts altogether - two of which I still own to this day (39 Ceramic Green and 39 OVM). I tried a couple of 42s initially and found them too large for my wrist. And while I will recommend the brand to anyone who'll listen, after two to three years of ownership, there are a few things that bug me.
    I find the indices on my Ceramic Green a bit underwhelming... they look more like flat steel donuts put on top of printed-on lume plots - not like lume filled indices you'd get on other divers (like the Rolex Sub). The dial is a bit boring what with its matte black/nearly grey looking color (I much prefer the deep black, lacquered dial on my CW Sealander). The cyclops is way too weak. Should be 2.5x, but I reckon it's only around 1.5x on the Steinhart. I'm having a hard time making out the date unless I put on my reading glasses - and I use pretty weak reading glasses.. :).
    All that said: It's hard to think of another brand in this segment of the market that offers this much value for relatively little money. Considering the entire package you're getting, these are pretty hard to beat. Plus all of my Steinharts came very well regulated from the factory and their customer service is very good too.

    • @WATCHingJames
      @WATCHingJames  Рік тому +2

      I’ve been impressed y mine and have actually been thinking about getting another.
      But I just spent my whole watch budget on a Stowa so need to start saving again for a while 😁

    • @1SaG
      @1SaG Рік тому +2

      @@WATCHingJames Don't get me wrong: I'm not bashing the brand by any means. I'd never sell my OVM and I'd have a hard time selling my Ceramic Green. It's just that ... no watch is really ever perfect. I'm pretty sure that even if I could get my hands on a Submariner, I'd find "fault" with it after a while. :)
      In any case: Be glad that you don't have a brick-and-mortar store selling Steinharts near you. I do have that (around 50 km from me) and it's *probably* the main reason why I bought this many Steinharts. First time I went there I was very much blown away by how good they look and feel "in the flesh". The thing that made my Steinhart-habit a bit more bearable is that, despite what some folks say about the brand, I found it pretty easy to sell them on.

    ASTOUNDING RESULTS AFTER REGULATING MY BLACK STEINHART OCEAN 39 A FEW TIMES.
    I’ve noticed that my black Steinhart Ocean 39 runs slow every time after I hack it to synchronize with GMT and after a few days it starts to speed up. I’ve regulated it a few times trying to get it just right, but even though it starts out slow, it gradually picks up speed as the days go by, so it’s difficult to get it just right.
    The testing I ran this past month was very, very interesting. It was running about 3.5 sec slow on average for the first 9 days and then it started to run faster. By 15 days, the average was down to 2.25 seconds per day. By 20 days the average was down to just 1 second per day. By 25 days the average was just 0.4 seconds slow per day (it was a total of 11 seconds slow after 25 days). By 30 days, the average was 0.0 seconds slow (it was exactly the same as GMT to the second).
    So, after 30 days, my automatic mechanical watch had neither lost nor gained one second compared to GMT time. My quartz Tissot was running a bit more than 2 seconds slow after the same 30 days.
    The difference was my Tissot was never more than 2 and a bit seconds slow at any time during the month. My mechanical watch peaked at a total of 36 seconds slow compared to GMT on day 13 and then started catching back up until after 30 days it was exactly the same as GMT to the second.
    I think I will just synchronize my Steinhart with GMT once a month and leave it regulated where it is.

      I wonder why glide locks are so rare. I would have thought they couldn’t be that difficult to add to bracelets, but yet most watches don’t have them. If anyone could list 6 brands that have 200m or 300m rated dive watches under $800 with SS bracelets having solid end links, solid links, screws instead of pins and glide-locks, I’d find that very interesting.
      Steinhart’s have all the bracelet features except glide lock clasps, but no glide locks seems to be the rule for watches in general, not the exception.

    Nice watches but there are some. issues in my experience. Wish it had aluminium bezel insert. I'd be all over it but I don't like the ceramic. Another issue I have had with Steinhart is that the bracelet screws have been know to become very loose, very quickly. This has happened on several of. the Steinharts I have had. The clasp can be a bit tough to open and we all know the famously stubborn bezel rotation. I can live with the but not with the screws coming out of the bracelet that is deal breaker for me. Fix that and get me an Alum. bezel and lose the useless mag bubble over the date and this watch would absolutely great value for money Great video! @@WATCHingJames it’s a bit of a toss up between this and the San Martin, the 39 is just a touch small on my 6 3/4 inch wrist, the San Martin is perfect, so I mostly wear the SM and the full lume bezel! If it wasn’t for the Steinys movement, the SM would be better, the finish on the SM is more lustrous, the size perfect.

    It’s a quality looking watch. However I’m totally anti cyclops and for me it spoils the whole watch. I have one watch in my collection that has a cyclops, and that’s only there because it was a gift.

      Have been told the cyclops glass can be removed using a hair dryer to make the glue dry up and then having it carefully removed. I'd assume one would then need to use something to remove any residue left.

    So many sub homages that all look the same (obviously),£70 pagani to these steinharts. These, San Martín & cronos may be better quality but still a homage at the end of the day. If it’s not a genuine Rolex it’s second best, so why pay so much money.

    • @WATCHingJames
      @WATCHingJames  2 роки тому +3

      I understand this argument and have thought about it lots.
      For me I really like the subby but I know I will never buy a real one.
      Only because when or if I have that sort of money to spend on a watch I have a list of watches I would but before the subby.

    I know this watch very well and I have to say, that except the ETA movement (SW200 nowdays) it is worse than 100$ Watchdives WD1680. Mainly because the cyclops which is bigger and has only 1.5x magnification instead of true to original 2.5x one on WD and also glossy dial on WD. It is very difficult to justify Steinhart's price here.
