      @@davel7014 Great observation Dave! 👍 I find it's often hard for people to write off a parent completely, for most people anyway- if you are present and there for your kids on a regular basis I guess maybe there's a LOT some can forgive? I'm sure it was hard for them. I saw Chad Daybell's kids on Dateline, not sure if you're familiar with that case but I'm SURE you've heard of it- all FIVE are CONVINCED their Father is innocent, and this is after PROOF he killed his wife (their Mother) AND after they found the bodies of his new wife's (Lori Vallow Daybell) children buried in HIS yard/property. They say he was framed, they KNOW their Dad, etc. Denial and that parent/child bond can be VERY strong at times I guess- but I'm with you, I don't understand it, in either case!!

      It is bewildering as you say, that child/parent bond where there's an actual blindness to how the person in the wrong operates.
      I think of Prince Andrew's daughter telling him to go TV and be interviewed about Epstein.
      In her mind how could anyone not believe her dad ?
      It's a very hard thing to grow up and see what others see about the father you worship.
      I remember when it came out that my own father was having an affair and had set up finances in motion to leave and take everything with him.
      My mother and brother were completely pole axed while I couldn't understand how they didn't see he was capable of such things.

    • @shayb413
      @shayb413 2 роки тому

      @@flowerjpotter1629 That is so terrible and tragic about your own Father, I'm so sorry!! I think it's interesting as we become adults and see our parents more as people with flaws instead of just the parents we put on a pedestal. I will say that my parents were both very loving and there for me, so had I found out one of them did something terrible, I think I could see logic and reason and believe it, and it may take time, but I believe personally I could disagree with or be appalled by their actions, and still come to forgive them and love them unconditionally, as I would want my children to do for me. But if we all just know right from wrong and try all we can to choose right as much as possible, huge giant betrayals like in these cases or even much more common like what your Father put your family through could be MUCH less common, if people could just be a little less selfish and think how their actions will affect their families and others! Thanks for sharing, hope you have a fantastic Friday friend!! ❤️

    I recall reading research once on why people choose to voluntarily join cults and disengage from generalized society. Some cult members studied reported feeling disillusioned in regards to burdens and responsibilities life placed on them. They wanted to return to a simpler time where they could be in a more protected child like state. Unfortunately if one chooses to take the passenger seat in life the driver may not always take you to the promise land. John Darwin reminds me of this type of discontentment. Nice one Dr G 🌵thought provoking as always. Have a good one.🌻

    Seaton Carew where he was from, is just local to me. I've been there many times, it's only little but there's a lovely little beach and you could get fabulous fish and chips from there.
    This was all reported on my local news channels as the story developed, from him being reported as missing, until he was imprisoned. Also his wifes' case.
    We all laugh about it now but it endangered the lives of the lifeboat crews who had to go out searching the North Sea for him. I think that's what bothers me most about this case, as opposed to the money lost by the insurance companies.
    As it happens, they've just made a new 4 part tv series about him and his wife, from the clips I've seen, it looks like they've put some comedy in there, so I'm looking forward to watching it.
    As an aside, it's part of the Hartlepool area and local legend has it that the late, great Meatloaf was a fan of their football ( soccer to you Americans ) club and it was rumoured he was going to buy a house there.
    Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing your take on John Darwin, Dr Grande. 🙂

    I knew a highschool math teacher in my area who couldn't deal with paying bills or most other mundane tasks of everyday life. His wife had to organize and look after these matters. When he retired on a COLA guaranteed for life generous teacher's pension, he cashed it all in and threw it at the Stock Market, hoping to gain a larger return than what he was receiving. Tried to convince his other retired teacher friends to do the same; no one followed his strategy.
    Ended up losing it all. Luckily his wife also receives a private pension, that she wouldn't allow him access to.

    This is practically a comedy! John is so spoiled and entitled. He wants the image of being a successful businessmen; but in reality he's just a common criminal. John needed to get better business advice if he wanted his ventures to succeed. A high school math teacher does not easily transition into real estate tycoon. I am happy that justice was served in this case, as John had to do prison time. But he still came out womanizing and lying about going to Ukraine to make himself look like a hero. He's a total FRAUD.
