Panelists included former Pentagon officials who discussed the current state and structure of the nation’s extraterrestrial capabilities and the advantages and disadvantages of creating a separate space-focused branch. Peace in space is an ideal but naive concept. It was already ruined as soon as Sputnik was launched.
Well, lets take the idea of a space force, give it a nice chunk of change, say 1/6th of the Defense budget, or $117 billion, and put that money into developing the infrastructure in space for large scale construction, as well as cheaper ways of getting into space. Then once we have that in place, then we can start building a real space force... of course if by the time that's all done the next president decides a space force is stupid, then oh, how sad, now all we have is substantial infrastructure in space for large scale construction and cheap ways of getting up there, whatever shall we do with it? oh yeah, colonize the goddamn solar system and build massive space stations that make the ISS look like a toy.

It seems Obama administration focused on diplomatic talks more than tough decisions about the space force.
I remember lotta talks about military program cuts during Obama administration.
I don't remember any talks or sanctions with North Korea by Obama adminstration.
