    8:00 Noam begins
8:20 “Talking about American Imperialism is like talking about triangular triangles.” Only country he knows that was founded as an empire. Has
never changed. Borrowed from Britain and before them the Roman empire.
9:30 Benjamin Franklin complains about limited expansion
    10:30 Thomas Jefferson
11:30 US tried to invade Canada. Blocked by Britain
12:25 John Quincy Adams, Manifest Destiny
13:20 John Lewis Gaddis (sp?) most respected historian on Cold War.
15:20 no congress declaring war. Model ever since.
21:05 Woodrow Wilson atrocities in Haiti
    Quotes Of Woodrow Wilson
    23:00 ww2
    27:15 propaganda and colleges
27:45 the middle east in Latin America
    28:30 Southeast Asia
    29:40 Africa
30:45 examples to read of fanatic jingoism. NSE68
    Book “Washington’s China” by Peck
    31:50 Latin America “our resources”
    32:30 Cold War
33:30 “radical nationalism” aka sovereign countries who don’t do what we want. Even the smallest place could become a serious danger. Henry Kissinger
35:30 A couple of weeks after the fall of the Berlin Wall the US invaded panama. For Noriega, who committed crimes while on CIA payroll
38:30 what US said after Cold War. Middle East. Needs reason to invade. Can no longer blame Soviet Union.
41:10 Hillary Clinton, if Iran attack Israel
42:35 resistance from other countries equals aggression,
    42:40 Vietnam
    43:25 Iran “aggression “
44:50 Condolezza Rice, Iraq, brainwashed by US education
    Financial weapons
    47:55 two principals:
    1. We own the world.
    2. Everything we do is with the best of intentions. No evidence required
49:00 Vietnam, several millions died, “blundering efforts to do good”
50:00 establishing democracy in Vietnam was like Soviet Union establishing democracy in other
    countries
50:30 historian Arthur Schleshinger , war hawk, on Vietnam
70% of populace was anti-war, but “educated” sector never spoke of that.
52:15 should read, but it taught, final parts of The Pentagon Papers. Wanted to send more troops it worried about anti-war protest and social unrest.
53:50 parallels Vietnam and Iraq, no principled critique
55:30 John Berns, senior correspondent quote. America stabilizes the world and always does good no matter what the population or the rest of the world experiences
***57:55 “Current George Bush after 9/11 asked ‘Why do they hate us?’ Cause of our Freedoms’ and so on. You remember that. What the press should’ve reported is that he was just repeating a question that President Eisenhower asked in 1958. Eisenhower asked his staff ‘Why is there a campaign of hatred against us among the people of the Middle East?’ And the National Security Council, the highest planning agency, had provided an answer. They said the people in the Middle East, their perception is that The United States supports brutal tyrannies, and blocks democracy and development, and does so because we want control of their oil. And then they went on to say ‘Yeah, their perception is more or less correct and that’s the way it ought to be.’ So therefore there’s a campaign of hatred against us. And so it continues.”
58:50 Wall St Journal conducted some polls in Middle East
1:01:15 book “A Different kind of war”
    1:03:40 what about Iran?
    1:08:00 Israel Palestinian solution
Everyone agrees except US and Israel
    1:11:30 Q&A
    1:12:00 Question:
    undermining Chomsky’s credibility
    ***1:17:40 Question:

1:21:45 destruction of Haitian economy by Bill Clinton policies
1:24:15 question: might the US foment violence to further action in Iran?
1:27:45 Iraq was the first war in history that was extremely protested before it started that he can remember
1:28:00 US didn’t care about Vietnam being wiped off the map. Eisenhower mentioned in build up to war rubber and tin but that was a joke. Vietnam had no resources of significance to the United States. Concern of Vietnam waste virus infection theory. Deep concern that independent development in Vietnam might inspire other countries. Didn’t care about Vietnam’s resources at all. That’s why we could destroy it. Iraq is not the same. We want to cheap oil
    1:33:30
Question: manufacturing consent: talk of North Korea building a nuclear reactor In Syria. Israel was able to successfully wipe it out. What’s your take?
Piece on NPR’s of the story only covered half the story.
***1:39:15 Question: US support of dictators in Latin America, middles East, even support of Saddam Hussein. Most people are unaware. How can we educate them?
1:39:50 most people don’t know we supported Saddam Hussein or the extent to which we supported him.
1982 Reagan removes Iraq from list of terrorist states. Aka countries we want to go after. In order to proved aid to Saddam Hussein right through his worst atrocities.
1989 invites Iraq for nuclear weapons production
US was upset when he disobeyed and invaded Kuwait.
    Authorized him to crush rebellion
Thomas Friedman, New York Times propagandist

Pursuit of free-trade has basically defined Britain in the Industrial Age. Indeed, ventures in India were a private idea, and the monarch only took over the East India Company after a series of disastrous famines that reminded everyone why private corporations should not rule countries. There's another saying too,
"They say trade follows the flag, but in Britain, the flag follows trade."

    • @damarekonayaro5781
      @damarekonayaro5781 3 роки тому +6

Only it wasn't free trade for all but free trade for British Imperial interests. In fact the earlier part of the British imperial economic interests were importing raw materials at the lowest cost, the latter stages also imposed the colonial industrial limitations but also closed the markets from outside competition and the closed markets were then the economic mainstay of the British Empire. Pursuit of exploitation defined the Britain in the industrial age and before, both domestically and latterly across dominions and colonies.

@@damarekonayaro5781 Most other world players at the time/previously were in the pursuit of conquest. Unlike France/Russia/Germany etc. Britain didn't have the geographic position or population to ever conquer/unify a Eurasian empire and preventing another power doing so is what defined British foreign policy/strategy since the Napoleonic wars.

As a system that requires a moral people to survive and thrive and is to a large extent in this respect an "honor system" is mercilessly beaten, burned, looted, murdered, trashed, by ignorant Marxist anarchist haters, your keynote for 2020 is the big bad imperialist USA? The USA is weak because it was founded for a moral people and its people are no longer moral and there aren't appropriate laws to enforce a stability that was previously endemic to the people.
Imagine actually believing in a utopia on earth, instead of being pragmatic about the lesser evil and realizing the stability in places like China comes at the cost of personal liberty and grows from the end of a gun. Your endorsement of leftist shills like Noam undermines the only real hope you have ever had for personal liberty- Western Civilization.

@Hum Shak : To say _"the U.S. people"_ when you claim anything other than they are people, means you will always be wrong. We are a people, who like any and all other nations, are myriad in our beliefs and actions. Would you send all of the people in your city to prison because one or even many of them are murderers?
Sure, there are a huge number of illiterate and ignorant people in our country who vote for the likes of trump, but not even all of them are bad people. I live in a rural county now in California (to my dismay, because many here are unfriendly at best), but out of my closest neighbors, the 2 left wing are some of the worst neighbors I've had. While one the conservative trump supporters I consider the better of them all as a person.
As far as I can tell, I agree with the others political views, I think anyone with a brain should lean hard to the left. But as individuals they lack the heart and common decency I see in the conservative whose political views I find disgusting.
Here is the real problem as I see it. Although I agree with you that we are not lacking information, we are no longer living in _The Information Age._ Instead we are currently living in _The Age of Misinformation._ The internet, like all tools eventually are, is now being used as a weapon by the power seekers among us to further subjugate us all to their wills to fill their wallets with the masses of gold desire that they are too weak and cowardly to attain by working with their own hands.
We the people of this world need to stand up for each other and stop this madness. Because as we can both see, it is growing and soon may destroy us all otherwise.
I hope you are all staying as happy and healthy as you are able in these trying times. Much love from rural California. ^-^

I fervently disagree with his overall message however, and I am amazed he doesn't 1. Recognize the evil of all people (not just his US bashing). 2. Thinks that left to their own devices, other countries involved in some horrid acts will cease or that they even don't do these acts in the 1st place, and therefore there is never a reason to stop atrocities from anywhere, 3. That any system of Govt. put in place before Western culture produced world wide success (even with the awful wars/manipulations that can be accounted to any nation) that the US/Western Democracy has. It has lifted more people out of poverty than any system seen in history to date. Is it perfect? GOD NO. And sometimes it is even bad... the US especially has some ugly warts in its past. But if someone wants to 'do better', they need to explain the plan up front. Socialism revisited? Give me a break. How many times must it fail and become corrupt (and kill countless millions) before we finally reject it as a 'valid' governance.

    • @pappapaps
      @pappapaps 2 роки тому +7

@@THDTPSEvents This might be a year old but you are wrong on too many points to let it go.
*1. Recognize the evil of all people (not just his US bashing).*
The reason he focuses mostly on US atrocities is very logical and sound: Because that is where he can have the biggest impact, and the audiences he touches domestically has the vote in the most powerful nation in the world. It is also _very reasonable_ to focus your critique on the government that is supposed to represent you.
*2. Thinks that left to their own devices, other countries involved in some horrid acts will cease or that they even don't do these acts in the 1st place*
For this statement to have fundamental merit it would have to rest on implications derived from fallacies.
Fallacy 1. The US is supporting democratic development in third world nations.
(On the contrary, there is a strong correlation between US interference and _lack of democracy_ in, for example, Latin America and Indo China.)
Fallacy 2. The US is stopping or halting undemocratic toppling of nations. (On the contrary, the US has a rich history of toppling democratically elected leaders all the way back to Mossadegh in Iran 1953.)
Fallacy 3. Thinking it is your job to police the world. (Even if human rights are violated in a dispute between two nations, there is no reason to think that anyone involved wants US help to begin with. If America started a war with Canada, you wouldn't accept the emperor of Tunisia to invade in an attempt to take control of the situation to further spread their cultural influence)
*3. That any system of Govt. put in place before Western culture produced world wide success*
This is the worst one. The size of the proverbial blinders you must wear daily to say something so hilariously wrong is beyond me. World wide success???
So the structural adjustments forced on third world countries by The World Bank and IMF (Where US holds veto), referred to by international economists as "kicking away the ladder" is success? 4 billion people living under the humanitarian poverty line is success? 70% of biodiversity _gone_ in 50 years do to the industrial practices executed by the west, then mainly exported to the east during globalization and liberalization of capital markets?? While the west has been the dominant regime everything has gone to shreds. You just confuse yourself by overlapping the horrors of capitalism with the successes of Industrial revolution, like all the other conservative state lap dogs. Leading us to the next:
*3.1 It has lifted more people out of poverty than any system seen in history to date*
No it hasn't. Steven Pinker is wrong, and the world bank is cooking the books. It is a well known fact among specialists in the field. More people are in poverty than ever before. Nation after nation has been shredded to pieces in the name of US dominance.
Furthermore: The increased quality of living seen in the west is _not_ a result of capitalism. It is a result of research and development mostly paid for by the state. What you ascribe to the economic system is actually a result stemming from the Industrial Revolutions. And those have been driven by state capital, not private investment. Everything in your PC was researched and developed for decades in the state sector before being handed over to the private sector. I can give you a ton of examples.
*3.2 Socialism revisited? Give me a break.*
True admission of brainwashed bias, and I don't blame you. That one is such a strong meme that many intelligent people also fall for it.
So just to be clear: Both the Russian and American propaganda systems has been agreeing on the postulation that USSR was an example of socialism. They did it for opposite reasons, so the agreement is merely a convergent development.
(Russia wanted to be seen as Socialist because of the potent connotations the title carried at that place and time)
(USA wanted to smear Socialism so it also granted that title to the new fascist one party dictatorship in the east at that time)
Socialism at it's core means workers control over means of production. That's where you begin, everything else comes after that. Did that happen in Russia in October 1917? (The opposite happened. By December any hope for a democratic process had been stifled.)
If you think the opposite is the case _please do share_ your sources. The reality is that even Germany was closer to something resembling socialism at the very same time, since they had workers unions, giving the worker a degree of control over the capitalist owned means of production. (The core of socialism, as stated by it's originators, _not_ the modern, American version where Socialism means "haters who want everyone to be poor" )
When the USSR collapsed in 1991, the world didn't get rid of an example of socialism, it lost a grand barrier to it.

Who? Noam Chomsky? He's become rich shilling for Left fascists. He's become a US millionaire blaming the world's ills on US millionaires. The "consequences" for him have always been more money for himself.

The most amazing and wonderful fact about Noam Chomsky is that such a wealth of inconvtrovertible, informative and devastating critique of US policy, and political presence, has not been assasinated. The world is not so bad as I tend to believe, since he is left to continue communicating. As I've been told it's because his influence is so intellectual and doesn't reach a significant number of people that he is not a target. On the other hand his expose of strategies of foreign interference I think in the Caribbean in the 70s re. the Bermuda triangle, was just suppressed. Fantastic teacher of international relations, whereas his professional influence is in linguistics. Why he has not received a Nobel Laureate is beyond me. Maybe he has.

It's really a question of accessibility then for the powers that be in deciding who to assassinate. I'm by no means saying you have to be a rick and morty iq genius to understand chomsky but to really lead a people's movement you need to speak to concepts at about a fourth grade level for the working people to really pick up what you're laying down and rebel, and thus be a real pain in the ass from Washington's perspective

Funny how if I had said the exact same thing, I would've been viewed as a sexual predator, a pervert, a deviant and my morals would've come under question, I would've been looked at with hatred and resentment and kept under constant scrutiny since that moment onwards and people in the community would lay guilt trips on me, try to deprive me of individual dignity and tacitly try to get me to work in some way to earn forgiveness and favor in the eyes of the public. That's one way to enslave people. But I agree with op.
