  • A DoorDash pizza delivery driver had some choice words for a Texas customer about the amount she tipped him. The delivery guy hands over the pizza and told Lacey Purciful, "I just wanna say, it's a nice house for a $5 tip." Etiquette expert Thomas Farley says you should be tipping anywhere from 10% to 15% for delivery. The total cost of her order of breadsticks and a medium pizza was $22.78. That means the five dollars she gave the delivery guy comes out to a 22% percent tip.

I agree he should be thrilled for that tip amount, but delivery is just as stressful as being a waiter. You have to pay for maintenance of that car and being on the road that much puts you more at risk of being involved in a crash.

I always tip something. Sometimes I've only got a few dollars more than the total and other times more or even less. Here's the thing, I'm not obligated to give you a tip. I tip because I feel like delivery drivers and servers should get a little more for what they do, however I don't HAVE to give any tip and that's my right because it's MY MONEY. I owe the total and no more and shouldn't be harassed or shamed, especially on social media if I happen to only have enough for the bill or a few dollars extra.
