For rule #1, I 100% agree.
I was in a very serious long term relationship and this was my first mistake. I consider myself as an independent and strong women so at that time I asked him out. But overtime, I kept thinking what would have happened if I never asked him out. That was the beginning of this insecurity that I never thought I would face. Well as you can assume, that relationship did not last at all. Now I know where I went wrong lol.

Basic rule of life: if you want something good in your life then just sitting back and waiting for things to happen miraculously then thats the worst strategy you can use.

She's not saying never approach or never start the conversation. She's specifically saying "ask for the first date". I believe in showing interest, and then letting him make the next move from there
