Today's solved true crime case is on America's youngest EVER serial killer, Craig Price. Who was just 13 years old when he killed Rebecca Spencer and 15 when he murdered a family of 3. Known as the Warwick slasher, Craig is an infamous killer in his hometown in Rhode Island.

Hey Eleanor! Im not sure if you're still reading comments right after you post but I love you so much! You're voice is so soothing and always eases my anxiety. Unfortunately I can't afford to become a member but I wanted to comment and say thank you. Because when things are at they're worst I play one of you're videos on either this Channel or the Ellie Neale channel and my anxiety immediately reduces. Im only 16 and hearing the advice you give us girls has made me so much more aware of situations and made me realize how abusive a relationship I was in was. So once again, thank you so much for not only telling us about these cases and spreading awareness but for teaching me things that could potentially save my life. I love you, never stop making content.
I find it hard to believe that a psychopath who could put these poor victims including small children through such a violent attack could feel remorse, after taking time to go from one to the next and not feel this before if they where capable of such a feeling.
I lived in Rhode Island for years. The level of racism in Rhode Island is WILD. There’s tons of corruption especially within the police force and so much more. This case has me conflicted as f!!!! F RI
Conflicted??? Dude killed CHILDREN. Give me a damn break. People suffer from horrible kinds of racism also and don’t do disgusting things like this. Racism is no excuse or even reason so sympathize with this monster

I'm usually at least a little sympathetic to the killers who act out due to trauma or illness but in this case I have none.
I'm just repulsed, I don't even know if I can believe that he experienced that racism because it sounds like it was just an excuse to get out of the crimes.
The women did NOTHING to him, none of them even said anything racist to him. He just went "She looked racist" was pretty much his defense.
Racism is real, its horrible and there's no excuse for it, but it is absolutely NEVER an excuse for murder. Self defense is one thing, but breaking in and killing people is inexcusable no matter the reason.

Coming here to say that manhunt is heaps of fun!! I grew up extremely rural (a village of around 150 people), and there was about 10 of us kids aged 5-12 that would play manhunt regularly during the summer, seeing as we were so rural and there were literally no shops or places we could really go to for fun. Over half the houses in the village were holiday homes, as my village was close to the mountains, so during summer these houses would be unoccupied. So we'd play manhunt across half the village, hiding in peoples backyards, ditches etc, seeing as there were hardly any cars around, and once the seeker found you, you had to run back to the middle of the village where the abandoned church was. It was heaps of fun and really a testament to what my childhood was like before any of us knew what the internet was, and on occasion even our parents would join in to help the seeker.
This sounds like heaps of fun. I played a version of this in the suburbs with the neighbourhood kids and only dreamed of this game on a scale of what you’ve just described. So cool 🙂
@@Lil_Why our teachers used to let us play it at school too (the school only had around 30 kids aged 5-13), but at lunch times the teacher would start off as the hunter and it was so much fun, I completely forgot about the game and as gruesome as this video is, I’m glad it could remind me of this huge part of my childhood

He murdered two women and two little girls in cold blood. Gross. Plenty of people experience much worse and don’t go on to brutalize innocent people. I’m sickened by his crimes. Imagine the horror those young girls and mother went through.
OH WOW. a case from my home state and town that I never heard of!
let me also add that NOTHING happens here in Rhode Island. like literally providence is the only area to be worried about (even at that is just like 3 sections of prov.) I seriously wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a murder in Warwick since this case. keep in mind that this is a state that you can drive from one end to the other in about an hour or so. pretty much everything is 5-10 mins away which also means everyone knows everyone usually.

Interestingly Lovecraft was a raging racist. A lot of the monsters in his story were based on black people… Seems like there is a pattern with this area.

makes you wonder how differently things might’ve ended had he grown up in non-racist town / era. he was clearly a child that was hurting and didn’t know how to handle everything he was feeling. hence the drug abuse, skipping school, burglarizing homes and so on. there’s always an underlying reason why kids act out and as a result 4 innocent people lost their lives. truly tragic all around.
racism is not an excuse to become a serial killer. we would not excuse the KKK, nazis, etc. serial killers are serial killers.

I was in school with Craig Price when this happened at Warwick Vets. A lot of us thought he was being profiled because Craig was the only black kid in school and was a relatively nice kid!
When the police were looking for a suspect my mom was driving my brothers and me into that neighborhood when we were stopped so the detective could check all our hands… Crazy times!
Wait, one question. Was it confirmed that the man who was following Craig with the car was the brother of the 1st woman he murdered?

@@beefzombiee he obviously faced racism, but seen as he carried on in prison, the m urders he committed make no sense in relation to the racism he faced the first one was just a women, two kids did nothing not even in his story, the women gave him a look. Which remember this is the story told by the mu rder who had already li ed, so the validity that this was what caused them is very odd, espcially as it's knives every single time.

@@aony497 we all have pent up rage and anger and many people experience worse racism ( my parents came to England during wind rush ) so I know first hand what they experienced and his experience was no where near as bad. These accounts are all from him alone nobody else. Could he used it as justification for his psychopathic tendencies? He lied on many occasions to not get caught and showed no remorse for the victims he murdered for no reason whatsoever. He carried on doing it in prison. According to Eleanor he was a “ good “ boy a “ normal “ teenager but do normal teenagers rob and steal along with the drug taking. Really?
His actions are inexcusable. To stab four innocent people to death, including 2 children, is the act of someone evil. I feel terrible for what he experienced in his childhood, but that doesnt dismiss his brutal actions. He needs to be locked up for life.

Well not the kids and the first woman, but Joan deserved every iota of it. Who was she to judge him before she met him. Her own closed mind did this to herself.
I have no doubt that he experienced racism, because I find that more likely than not. But I think he covered the bodies because he was ashamed as what he did wasn’t warranted even in his own mind. And I think that’s also why he said the woman gave him a weird look and was a racist and that’s why he did it-he didn’t want to admit that he killed her (and possibly also her daughters) simply because he wanted to.
No no no, the racism excuses everything.
People don't get picked on at all in life - except if it's racism. So only victims of, particularly, _racism_ are justified in killing people.

Generally speaking, when someone is stabbed in the face, it's not just venting anger. It's because they're not just trying to kill the person, they're trying to destroy them entirely. Our faces are our most recognizeable attribute; to destroy someone's face is the ultimate attempt to completely eradicate someone AS a person, it's tantamount to erasing their identity.
I think he was trying to erase his own identity .

We’re allowed to feel sorry for the child not the murderer they became. Also, understanding the why doesn’t mean we’re excusing anything they’ve done. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t understand and clearly can’t feel empathy for others.
his backstory is so so sad, a poor kid just stuck in a life of crime and drugs and getting constantly racially hatecrimed. i can almost understand the psychology, how years of that treatment could make someone so angry they have to kill. but two children? and SO brutally? i’m lost there. and the fact he’s still acting just as crazy in prison. i hope he never gets out. but i still feel for younger him for having such a rough upbringing. such a sad case. RIP to all the victims. my heart goes out to them and their families.

And leaving the house and getting attacked and shouted at by grown men as a young child is messed up.

It’s more than “unfortunate”. These people made him into a murderer. You can’t justify blatant and raging racism by saying “well, he did worse”.

As a woman, if I’m riding bikes with my kids and a man I don’t know (regardless of race) approached us I would be pretty hesitant and guarded. We know we’re targets, and we’re always on the defensive. I know Craig was a teen, but it’s said he looked older than he was.
I even give teenage boys a wide berth while running, especially if they are in a group.
This was a black teen, in the 80s, in a rough neighborhood. Stop acting dumb.
I am more scared of teens ( especially if they are in a group) after watching “The Devil's Daughter”.

Yes it messed up how he was treated but the way he murdered innocent women and children was so heinous and sick i refuse to feel bad for him he even still gets into trouble while locked up i remember when i first heard of this story years ago and it had me shook

This is absolutely insane to hear about this case on here. I was born & raised in the area, in RI it's common to learn about him in school. I remember the day I came home to tell my parents what I learned, only to hear that my father (a prison guard for decades) actually was a guard at his prison, but more shockingly my uncle actually went to school with Craig Price. Rhody really is that small of a state.
I actually went to school in Warwick and surprisingly we’ve never talked about this case or learned about Craig Price. I think I only learned about him like a couple of years ago when I watched this true crime video talking about it and it blew my mind that it was right in my neighborhood

As a mom of 2 young kids myself, it’s very scary to think that maybe she was just hesitant because he was a big male & coming around her child. That’s a legitimate worry. and that could have been the reason her and her children were killed.

Ngl, I'm a little uncomfortable with the framing of Joan as being a racist person when the only thing to indicate that is a person who went on to brutally smash two children's heads in and stab them a horrifying amount of times 🤷♀️
It’s just how Craig was seeing them because it’s not like there were other witnesses of their interactions besides him. Joan could’ve looked at him weirdly but Craig had gone through so much racism he probably saw it that way 🤷♀️
he didn't frame the first victim as being racist despite her being a white woman...so why would he lie about joan? she didn't have to be a good person for her and her daughters' murders to be absolutely horrible and tragic. like christ, the world isn't black and white.
I’m from Warwick and know people who knew him. Because it was my neighborhood, I’ve read a lot about it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone discuss the racial dynamics at play related to this crime. It’s not an excuse but it’s certainly context.
playing devils advocate real quick.. most white people won't ever claim that they've been racist.. this case would be the talk of the town but they'd never draw more attention to the fact that people in that town made him feel uncomfortable and less than.. it never excuses what he did though..
I think some of it is an excuse. I don't doubt that racist stuff might have happened, but listening to the second story?
A woman out with two small girls gets approached by what seems to be a very large man, and he gets offended that she might be nervous?
He continuously acts like 'he wasn't going to really do anything but just break some stuff and then she fell onto his knife 50 times!' She's dead, so we can't get the story from her, we only get his version of, "I just had a feeling she was racist against me" and "she totally gave me a dirty look", but there's nothing that she even did besides maybe get nervous around someone twice her size approaching her - which we can't even be sure if that happened or not that way. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she was alive if her story would've been, "There was something off about him and it was scaring me."
His first story also sounds like he wanted to kill somebody and then he fabricated this whole scenario later or used a real scenario to paint a fake story behind it. It's another case of, "I totally wasn't going to do anything but then I stabbed her until I couldn't stab anymore."
I think the stories we're getting about it were definitely "playing down" his intentions and covering them up with half-truths.

For the record I have never heard the racial aspect either. This is quite literally the first time I have ever heard it. Nowadays EVERYTHING is considered racist, so forgive me when I take it with a grain of salt. Real racism exists but overall America is not a racist place.
I rarely ever comment on ANYTHING on here but when you described when he had been strangling Joan and she was trying to tell her children to phone the police... my heart broke. I cant imagine how those kids must've felt watching their mum helpless and it being up to them to call the police. And Joan - probably knowing she wouldn't make it out alive and asking the kids to phone the police instead. So so heartbreaking, and so many stab wounds. How is there even space for that many on such a small child?? So so sad and so evil, and even worst is this could've probably been avoided if Price had a better upbringing and more attentive parents. So many people are at fault here for opening the door for this monsters behavior.
If Craig wasn’t sounded by cruel evil insecure racist idiots that he tried to ignore …. This would not have happened
The victims definitively did not deserve what happened but never think that that whole community created that moment
i dont think its fair to talk about his "upbringing" when its the systemic oppression of black folks that puts them at a huge disadvantage in society, not to mention the fact that he had to deal with racism growing up in a mainly white neighborhood. his identity and emotional regulation was never properly cultivated bc of those ignorant asses around him who couldn't just let kids be kids. i dont think we can say/ imply his parents should have done a better job raising him, thats just cruel and another way that society perpetuates the oppression of black people.
I don't buy any of it. Price's story really puts him in the victim light. Aww, poor Craig. None of it was his fault! He was just trying to get revenge against racists... and somehow ended up killing women and children. Yeah. Okay.... He claims that he only intended to vandalize... but then was surprised. So he didn't just kill these women AND CHILDREN, he overkilled them. No. There are so many holes in these stories I could write a whole book about just that.

The amount of people making this man a VICTIM because he experienced racism is INSANE. He brutally killed innocent people!!! There isn’t a single excuse for it.
I think its more explaining how his mindset could be changed due to his experiences, I dont think it ever excuses it, but it helps explain how they might have been pushed towards that point. I think you always have a choice unless you're literally forced by someone, and that's on you, but it's helpful to understand how their mind built up to that point where they chose this

He *was* a victim. He ran for his life twice from cars trying to run him over when he was just 12 and 13. They did actively try and kill him. You cannot sit there and tell me a 13 year old child deserves to be chased by a car trying to kill him. None of that negates him doing these horrible crimes, nor does him doing this negate the fact he was a victim *before* in his life. They are two entirely separate things and that's what so many people have trouble seeing and coming to terms with.

I don’t believe that when he broke into Joan’s house that he didn’t intend to murder her and children. At this point in time he had already kill a woman previously and described going through the same emotions and preplanning as the previous murder.
I giggled when you said “ a mens 13, so a really big foot.” My 15 yr old twin boys are over 6ft 2, and wear a 13 & 13.5 in mens shoes. The shoes look ridiculously big. Lol
Children are getting bigger these days, aren't they? My daughter had a friend who in grade 4 had a shoe size 39 (my daughter a 34 😂), the standard adult woman shoe is 38/39. And they are all sooooo tall. 🥺

There is no excuse for adults bullying a child, none. The racism he experienced was awful and I'm sure left him feeling helpless and angry. However, I find it difficult to hear, "he was just a normal kid". He wasn't, normal kids aren't doing lsd at 12 years old and breaking into homes. They aren't skipping school at 12 years old, that's not the norm. Something else is going on here in his home that his parents didn't even know that was happening. I also wonder because of his size at such a young age if he had an increased level of testosterone or other hormonal imbalances. This a someone who scares me. What a terrible way for a child to die, so sad.
I'm sure he did have problems with racism, but the idea that twice you "just want to smash things a bit but oopsie daisy I go on a mur dering spree" is frankly ridiculous and the kind of story a 15 year old who thinks they are a lot smarter than they are would come up with. His actions in prison prove it's because he likes doing it.
Thank you! It really bothered me how many people in the comments are making an excuse for this murderer. Loads of murdering psychos have terrible childhoods, we don’t give them a pass so why would we in this crime? The crime is just as heinous and just as senseless, and the victims are just as tortured and murdered. I think the motive other than self defense doesn’t matter at all.
Have you ever experienced traumatic racism? I’m black and live in a 90% white area. I’ve seen this go down. I’ve felt these emotions but didn’t act on them. I’ve wished it upon the people who hurt me.

I have a mixed race child and my biggest fear from day one has been racism. The things this poor kid went through when he just wanted to play with his friends like anyone else could is absolutely devastating. While what he did was absolutely inexcusable and not right at all, it’s no mystery why this man had so much built up rage and anger inside.

It’s impossible to explain what is the black experience. It is not this incident, and that incident.
Unfortunately it’s constant.
From day 1, you’re aware. It’s long-standing, unavoidable and honestly perplexing that nowadays people seem to be more emboldened to express their hate.
No matter where you are in the world, it reverberates and hurts.
It’s impossible to explain just how destructive constant degrading, hate, aggression, targeting, expectation to brush off and take abuse, and especially seeing blissful complicity is beyond damaging.
One thing, the only real threat to “white supremacy” and racism, are other white people. Your voice especially matters, and very lucky kid.
I’m from New Zealand and South Africa. But my family fought and survived during the worst racism. Institutional, violence (open shooting at black schools, pre-K, esp Universities, but any opposition). Historic camps, it’s endless, economic exploitation to this day. The sentiment taken and advertised by America.

I have to admit that it sounds wrong but I would have completely understood if he had gone after the actual racists. Going after the women and children based upon assumptions wasn't only wrong but probably locked in more "I told ya so" racism.

You know it’s important to have a black child grounded in their community, even if they don’t live in a predominantly black neighborhood. I don’t know how things are in the states and how easy it is to meet other black people, if you not frequent their places, but having a community is one of the most important things. And exactly what Craig was missing. An outlet to talk about his experience and find empathy and solidarity. Talking to people who know *exactly* what he feels and having an output to let out his anger. Racists are everywhere and you can’t shield your child from it, but giving them a strong foundation and teaching them to still love themselves despite the fact that the world clearly doesn’t. That’s what’s matters. As a mixed person things get even more complicated since there are black people who don’t see them as black too and you basically can face racism from both sides and identity crisis are about to happen. But all those things can get navigated with a loving support system at home and good friends and family.
Although there are no excuses for what he did to those innocent people, the racism he experienced as a CHILD is absolutely abhorrent & repulsive. The fact that even grown ass adults were racist towards him is insane. It’s truly sickening that people are so hateful towards someone just because they look different it’s almost unbelievable.

I strugle to feel any sympathy for this boy. he killed four innocent females. he showed 0 remorse. glad he hasn't been released. playing the race card, this should be classed as a hate crime as im sure he wouldn't of killed them if they were black.
It's crazy how he was a big teddy bear and the loving funny guy in his family and friends but had so much rage too that is a dangerous combination. That’s probably what happened but bc he has felt prejudged before he concluded it was racial and he might not have been able to empathise with other factors and why that might be intimidating, too. My exact thoughts, I would do anything in every second of my life to protect my children from a life like that and would stick up for them and be there for them when they need me (I always am in general)…but in this case it’s just outrageous that noone stuck up for him or at least offered him a shoulder to cry on before those killings happened

The sad fact is that Joan might not even have problem with his race - I mean they literally lived on the same street, so she could have easily heard about the alcohol, the drugs or even the former break-in conviction. I find it really disturbing how many people in the comments are showing sympathy for the murderer. In any other situation do we make excuses for a murderer of innocent children? Many killers have awful, traumatic pasts. Some much worse than this case. No one cares, so why is this guy given a pass? The VICTIMS and their families deserve the sympathy, not the murderer.

Sympathising with him and allowing racism to be a genuine excuse for committing these crimes takes away from the millions of people who experience racism on a daily basis and chose not to resort to violence. His imprisonment served every single day of his time in adult prison not juvenile and he got out of prison and he was not violent while he was in prison and has not been violent since he got out. Hes over 30 years old now so hes been out for a few years and hes fine hes not a violent guy hes not even a mean guy. The guy that he killed was actually trying to kill him it was kind of a self defense situation and he still got longer than that dude did originally at 16 This is ridiculous I don't know I just don't buy anything that this dude said in his defense at this point

I feel sad for Craig for all the racial abuse and the fact that he was starting to lead a life of crime so young as maybe his family weren't as attentive as they should be. That all said though nothing can excuse his actions. I know countless people have suffered discrimination, some relentlessly so but they don't kill people
I understand giving background about the perp, and like hearing some background as well. It would be nice to hear more about the victims and children of the victims. The majority of this vid is all about Craig and makes it sound like his background/childhood is an excuse for his despicable and horrific behavior. Regardless of what he experienced, there is no excuse for his tragic actions. Lots of people experience far more traumatic childhoods or similar, and don’t do anything of the sort. Prayers to the families of these victims.
It would be interesting to see if there was any validity to the way Craig felt. That these individuals were in fact racist and did act in such a way towards him before these murders. Regardless, no excuse for his actions.

None of those people deserved to be killed, especially in such a horrific way and it sucks that people can’t just accept that there are different shades of brown. I hope he can better himself and I hope for the victims to be resting in paradise.

Would’ve loved to hear more about his family. The racism, drugs, and maybe the lack of support at home made him a very angry kid. He swallowed all that anger until it all exploded and innocent, vulnerable people paid the ultimate price….
My dad was Craig Prices assistant football coach and was shocked to find out what he had done because on the football field they had a hard time getting him to be aggressive. My aunt and 3 cousins also moved into the Buttonwoods house he murdered Rebecca Spencer in because she was a single mom with 3 kids and the rent was cheap since no one wanted to live in the “murder house”. When she viewed the house there was still sections of carpet that had been cut out from the blood and she said the concrete underneath was stained brown because it had seeped so far through.
As a black person, the racism most likely played a big part. As I’ve got older and racism towards me has gotten worse, I’ve had dark thoughts from time to time and I now lack empathy too (I still feelnit but not as much as I used to). Obviously not to this extent, but I can definitely see how horrible racism caused this. I feel like nonblacks don’t truly comprehend how bad it can affect a person mentally. It doesn’t excuse what he did, but I can see how this happened.

It is indeed a tiny bit echo-y (a “tinny sound” is what we would call this, not really an echo but the acoustics are a teeny tiny bit messed up) compared to the others I’ve heard and watched.
It doesn’t distract enough to be labeled as a lesser pleasant experience so I don’t want to appear like I’m complaining but just wanted to let you know that I get why you’re asking and you’re not alone.
Sidenote though: my hearing is not perfect, was born with some hearing loss and due to lots of ear infections (both the “dry” and the “wet” sort), my hearing has become worse. I often hear worse (mostly the middle frequencies, so the frequencies peoples voices use) than normal ears and sometimes I even hear better than other (mostly the highest frequencies) so it’s confusing lol. But the tin-like sound that I seem to pick up a bit faster than some others, I think it’s cost by the higher frequencies, but that’s just a theory. So I am very kindly saying, yes it is audible -but only slightly- but also… your ears *might* be a bit off compared to “normal standards”, just a heads up if you encounter these things more and more, so you know what might be causing that. Ignore that last part if you don’t really notice these things apart from this example, I just mention it because I am the type of person that always would prefer too much information than too little, this is absolutely not meant as an insult. I only know what I know but would always welcome more info and make up my own mind, since, well, we are the only ones who can decide what we feel or not feel by the things we hear. Sorry I’ve been rambling on but these days, you can’t be too careful it seems 🙈

I don't think that's what happened at all. He didn't go to a random house and 'forget his baseball bat' and just happened to stab some random sleeping woman over and over because she scared him. That just sounds like he was interested in killing someone and she was his first target, and later on he created a sob story. I think there's pieces of truth mixed in with lies to try and put himself in a more favorable light - but everything about it sounds like he wanted to kill someone to me, and he tried to make it out to be like it was some sort of crazy accident later.
I agree. I felt the same way while watching this video. Sure, what he went through was awful and traumatizing. However, it is not a justification for murdering people. And one could say that, since he targeted white families, his crimes were racially motivated too.

honestly, I love the way that Eleanor tells these cases.. not even to feel sympathy. But I think hearing the background of the aggressors really paints a picture as to what they went through, and why they did what they did.

He killed one woman in her sleep whom he never even saw before, then he killed another woman and her kids because she may or may not have looked at him the "wrong" way. They didn't do ANYTHING to him you absolute bafoon. Oh, and, guess what, it absolutely doesn't matter if he was also a kid, he still killed two innocent little girls and 2 innocent single mothers and you're here victim blaming, dickriding and defending him for it. You're also just out here believing anything he said even tho he's a literal serial killer which is just embarassing, you lack any critical thinking. I don't know if it's just me but your voice seems very far away in the video. The video isn't very loud. It's very quiet and a little hard to hear. But I love listening and watching your videos.

Your volume is really low. I don't know if your mics not picking up on your voice but I have my volume all the way up and I can hear other videos just fine but this one is really low I don't know if I'll be able to watch it
