I'm 75 and been making my mom's potato salad for years. Yours is very similar, but the main difference is the way you make your sauce separate and then add it to the potatoes. I love your method. My mom would love it too if she was still here but I'm sure she's watching me make it using your method from Heaven and nodding in approval..great job Rachel!🎉❤

I agree! I recently spoiled 3 boiled eggs because the shells stuck like glue. I looked on YT and a top chef said it was because instructions always say to put eggs in cold and bring to boil but they should be steamed for 13 mins starting with the water boiling. Supposedly it prevented the shell sticking to the membrane. I did try it but wasn’t 100% successful however watching Rachel make it look so easy, I will certainly be giving her way a try. Great video!

I'm 76 and have been making potato salad that everyone raves about for many years, however my significant other of 5 years (picky eater) has never commented on it. I stumbled on your channel a few days ago and have been watching with interest. We were having neighbors over for dinner yesterday and I decided to try making your potato salad to go along with pork chops and baked asparagus. Well, the neighbors loved it and my guy not only had two helpings, but he actually commented how good it was and, even though I'm a good cook, he hardly ever makes a comment on my food! Yours has taken the place of my "once famous" potato salad! Thank you, Rachel, I'll surely be trying more of your recipes.

Been searching for a long time at delis and sandwich shops but they always seemed to have more vinegar and mustard than I was looking for. Now I can make it myself when I get the cravings and I do about once a month. Thank you Rachel for explaining the techniques. We had no technology and held conversation with each other!!! ...even the youngsters. Boy those were the days!!! I'm going to make some for dinner tonight but make this now so it can chill. You're awesome! You are a great teacher! (I am a retired teacher, so I'm picky lol🤭) when I make variations of tater salad,,, I've used your basic recipe, but omit onion, due to medical reasons,,, we enjoy subbing a quality or homemade Ranch dressing, to the mayo, for a non mustard style. And of course yummy dill weed to taste. For over 25yrs, I've also made a version with Bread & Butter style pickles, chopped into relish,,, along with some pickle brine. I was at my folks house cooking for a widow lady🙏She loved it! I've even added French style mustard, instead of yellow traditional,,, and it's a hit! Also, we LOVE to add fresh chopped red bell pepper to all versions. And,,, of course here in TX, we've always got to make a spicy jalapeño version. We prefer the sweet Jalapeños or the Jalapeño relish in stores. And ya know,,, crispy bacon or diced ham on top for Southern BBQ! I am so anxious to look through your recipes! Keep up the GREAT teaching!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥳💯‼️

You made this video 3 years ago and I just made the potato salad today. Wow, it’s so delicious. I followed everything and turned out perfect. Thank you Rachel ❤

This potato salad looks so good. I have never seen someone put milk in but will try it soon. I usually put a bit of pickle juice in mine and , if it's for myself only, some thinly sliced green apples.
Ms. Rachel you get 3 C's from me for clean, calm and confident.

I would say that it depends on how your going to be dressing it. Some potato salads use a dressing that is oil and vinegar based and those are the one you can do while they are still hot. It helps to absorb into the potato's.

I’m going to use your tip about peeling the potatoes before cooking and rinsing off the excess starch. Also, mix my dressing separately and then fold into the potatoes. My mother taught me to do it all in the same bowl but your way is better. Thanks for the tips!

I saw a hack with cooking with the big potatoes with the skin on and then dip in cold water and they slide right off and you also have more flavor

Rachel, you are such a wonderful cook. I love to see how you integrated the Mexican cuisine into the American cuisine. I’m a Mexican that immigrated to the states in my early twenties and I’ve integrated well into the American culture. I learned to love and respect my adoptive culture and cuisine and every time I see you cook you remind me of myself when I was younger. I recently, change my diet and I’m not eating any kind of meat now. I am delighted to see that I can still have wonderful flavorful food thanks to your amazing recipes.
Thank you, and God bless you and your Ron.
