**At 4 minutes into the video I claim that switching from Ruby bolts to Diamond bolts is the most effective not only with Vorkath, but all bosses. THIS IS NOT TRUE! Switching to diamond at 35% (with 99 and this exact gear) health is the best at Vorkath, but NOT all bosses. It depends on HP of the boss and your max hit.**
First of all, great guide. You explained it very well. One question specifically on this part though: Why is it better to switch to diamond bolts that late? 35% of vorkaths health is only ~260hp left. Since ruby bolts hit 20% of Vorkath's current hitpoints, this would be a 53, which is way lower than what you can hit with a normal bolt attack. So how is it still worth it at that hp?
@@AdrieAgent Because at higher range levels with rigour, void, salve(ei) and presumably a dhcbow you can hit well above a 53. A ruby bolt activation would actually force the damage to remain at 53 as you said instead of potentially hitting higher and harder with the diamond bolt tips!
@@AdrieAgent I think the "35%" hp concept is a generalised rule for players that attempt to do bossing, so it is assumed you have high stats to begin with. The point you should realistically swap over your bolts is when the ruby bolt activation is no longer higher than your max hit; at that point it is most efficient to switch over to the diamond bolts.
@@AdrieAgent I don't know exactly what the calculations are, but I do know I felt the same way so what I eventually ended up doing is switching when I noticed I was about half health to keep it simple. Since making this guide I had the same question, I was like this doesn't make sense. lol Especially since diamond bolts can hit like an 80 at lower hp
@@AdrieAgent The "max hit" vs "less than your max hit" point you and Jacob are mentioning is a bit more complicated than that. What you're leaving out is the fact that when the ruby bolt spec triggers, it's ALWAYS a 53 versus ANY number from 0 to 115% of your max hit from the diamond bolt spec. If your max hit with dhcb is like 70 or something, but Vorkath's hp is so low that your ruby bolt proc will hit a 60, the ruby bolt proc is still BETTER than the diamond bolt proc. In this example, your diamond bolt proc actually does 40 damage "on average" (115% of 70 is about 80, so the average hit of a diamond bolt proc is 40). Compare that to the 60 damage "on average" of the ruby bolt proc (since it will always 100% hit a 60 in this case). At a certain point, the ruby bolt spec will go below 40, and that's when the diamond bolts have more DPS than the ruby bolts. Here's some number crunching I did for you. At 99 range, full void, salve, dhcb, and rigour, according to a max hit calculator, my max hit is 74 with the gem-dragon bolts. This means my max hit with the diamond bolt proc is 115% of 74 which is 85. This means a diamond bolt proc is on average 42.5 damage. For a ruby bolt proc to have more DPS than a diamond bolt proc, it has to do at least 43 damage. The ruby proc effect itself saps 1/5 of Vorkath's remaining health, so for this ruby proc to sap 43 damage, Vorkath has to have 43 * 5 = 215 health remaining. 215 health is **29%** of Vorkath's max health, which is pretty close to the "normal" 35% threshold.
just wanted to say your explanation on how to woox walk made me able to do it on my first attempt, and kill Vorkath easier and faster than ever before. you literally just upgraded my skillset. thanks a lot man, great vid.
Nearly 4 years later and this video is still the best range woox walking guide around. I managed to not get hit after just 3 tries, 2 of which I completely died during the acid phase, so you are clearly an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for leveling up all my future vorkath kills!
Man, this guide is brilliant. I'm at 750+ KC and I've tried Woox walking occasionally but I've always failed miserably at it. I spent about 2 minutes just practicing it on Vorkath while he was resting, then tried it in a fight and I did it perfectly every time for an entire trip of 4 kills. Thanks so much for this guide and technique. Works brilliantly for an average player like myself.
@@Neal4D Ruby bolts specs remove 20% of the monsters current hp, and cap at 100 damage. Assuming 35% is correct for vorkath, you would switch to diamond when hes at 262 hp and your ruby spec would hit 52. If you kept ruby bolts equipped until kbd was at 35% hp, the spec would only hit 17 because 35% of kbds max health is only 84.
Wow this was amazing, so many other videos over complicated the method so much I just decided to never do it and was hurting my kills heavily, this made it so simple for me I got it first try after practicing for like 5 minutes. Will definitely recommend to anyone that needs help with woox walking

Hey Neal, this guide is exactly what I was looking for. Current PB of 1:56 with non dragon bolts, 90 ranged potted up to 102, and no damage during acid phase. Excited to turn it up thanks to your help
I guess the secret to a good guide is to just act like you are recording it for one person, not an audience on UA-cam. haha! Because that's exactly what my intentions were with this one. Glad it helped man!
Already done like 80 vorkath kc and got comfortable, so I wanted to learn how to maximize my dps, which I was wasting during acid while just walking to survive. This is the simple and effective technique I needed for success. Thanks brother
Been trying to figure it out by myself but I always had the poison issue, never knew it was possible to prevent poison from getting on the last row, very helpful guide, thanks!
True tile also helps immensely for this. That way you don't constantly have to look at your character and one tile ahead. You can just look at your true tile.
This helped me from getting ko'd during the poison phase to surviving 2 kills per trip. So far have 12 at time of writing. Using elite void, salve ei, and dhcb at 99 range. Thank you.
I fully gave up after like 500KC of trying here and there. Back after about 70KC and an hour or so practicing with 'poking' vorkath, I can confidently recommend this video to anyone who struggles with Woox walking and RNG of other methods. This video was a one and done shop for me. I went from having like 10 tiles highlighted and trying to know when to click on them based on 2 scenarios to getting it every single time after some practice with this method. This method is just amazing because the way I was learning before meant if I messed up the beginning, I was fucked and then eating pretty much the whole time. If anyone takes anything form this video the back row concept and giving yourself room and time to mess up and still get back into it is the key. focus on keeping your character on that back row, in tile marker you can turn on true tile markers where it shows your actual player. I turned this on and it's confusing at first but after just hammering at it, you understand what's going on in regards to combat. I've tick manipulated skills but never combat outside of prayer flicking and some rings at Zulrah, so this was a doozie to get down. This helped a lot! It did take a few attempts but I did get it pretty quick. If using runelite Id suggest highlighting the tiles you plan on clicking and turning on true tile marker
4:00 the threshold is definitely not 35% for anything, it depends on the max hp of the monster, if a monster doesnt have a lot of max hp diamond is already better than ruby at 100% hp

Turn on actual tile click him and then in front of him as soon as the actual tile pops up in the back row. This way you don't have to pay attention to animations and know the exact second to click on him.
Haven't tried yet, but this seems very simple until I can get the groove to do it all back and forth in one back and forth fluent motion. Thanks alot for explaining the ground tile option thats huge! THUMBS UP
Also, for anyone who is just trying this. Only start trying at full hp and dabble into it until its fluent. Never worth risking a death to do every time :P
thanks for this quick guide! I was good with the melee woox walk, but when I started killing him with ranged I couldn't figure out how to not take damage while attacking haha
I prefer it over the blowpipe method because there is much more room for error with this method. With the blowpipe, it's easy to mess up and get stacked out. The only better thing about blowpipe in my opinion is that fact you can heal with the spec, but overall I think dhcb beats it every way.
@@almost1889 have you ever killed vorkath before in your life? I have 400+ kills using a bgs. What does that have to do with the dhcb being clearly better than blowpipe? If you're about to argue bp is better you're wrong and probably severely lack brain cells
Quick question. I see you doing the woox walk near the entrance. What if you did it near Vorkath, would it work as long as your clicking backward after?
Ant Lalli Sorry for just now responding to this! But no it wouldn’t work. You need to make sure you are in the very back row because that’s the only row you are 1 tile out of range with the dhcb. When you attack vork out of range, you automatically get pulled towards vork which you follow up by spamming back to get out of range again. This is how you technically never stop walking, so you don’t get hit. If you are in crossbow range and try the same thing, you’ll take damage because your character won’t be pulled towards vork. It’s kind of hard to explain this, but hopefully you understand this explanation haha
@@Neal4D thank you SO much - I was using Stretched mode at like 70% JUST for decreasing click-distance. This + the proper woox-walk tutorial is game-changing.
I’m 86 range 76 def. currently at 67 kills with elite void dhcb and max range, but no rigour. Do you think I should either chin my range up more, save up for rigour, or train up my def before continuing?
I'm sorry I just now saw this! But you are perfectly fine at those levels, especially with a dhcb! I am now 115 range and I started at 92, so you will get plenty of range xp there. Also, the defense mostly depends on prayer and antifire, so defense is not extremely important there. Keep grinding imo!
I would get rigour asap mate, sell your pegasians for it as it's gonna be easily the best dps upgrade and once you've got it you've got it forever. Helps with so much other stuff as well.
something i noticed that you didnt mention. the back tile u click on is the tile directly behind the true tile right? you cant click on a random tile at the back - it must be in the same row as true tile?
You actually can click back the diagonal tile as well. But I do prefer clicking back the tile directly behind your true tile so you have more room for error.
Victor Torres The Blowpipe woox walk is way different and in my opinion much harder. Still possible though, you’d just want to look up a blowpipe guide instead of a dhcb guide. Gl, and thanks!
When I woox walk I look for a row of 4 clean tiles, then walk back and forth and shoot at the edge of the arena. Is this not maximally efficient? Maybe I can save a tick or two? I can’t shoot after 3 tiles but I can after 4 tiles, unless the travel back and forth results in a wasted tick or two
I wish I knew the exact math of the difference 90 range vs 99, but I don’t sadly. I’m guessing it’ll be at least somewhat similar though, so switching to diamond at 35% is what I’d say. This is just a guess! If I were you I’d just aim to switch between 35-45% ish
Matt Davis At the time of this upload I only had a single 27in monitor. So I would do have the screen Runelite, and the other half would be Chrome/UA-cam or whatever I was doing haha
This is explained so even a dummy like myself can understand so thanks! I’m at 250kc now and can get 3 kills per trip at the most but I will report back once I get this down
Andrew Gamelin If that happens, just keep walking until you find an open row. Very rarely does it happen where you can’t find room to do the woox walk but if that does, just keep walking and try again next acid phase. Walking over a couple acid pools and taking a little damage is fine, it shouldn’t kill you unless you’re already on really low hp.
I had this down yesterday, but today I can’t get it anymore, I successfully turn, shoot vork, click behind me and immediately to the side, but rather than staying in that back row, He ends up in the second row, walking into poison?? I seem to be clicking just as fast as you if not even faster. You want to click back and to the side in the same game tick right??
Slowly trying to figure this out, I believe you have to wait for you characters “turn around” animation before you even click back…you can still get a hit off and avoid acid if you’re early, but your character for whatever reason decides to stay in the row he enters to hit vorkath rather than the original row with no acid splats. Really don’t understand pathing in this game
@@connorlowis4774 Yes from what I'm reading it sounds like you might be clicking to the side a bit too fast. Try waiting a tick so your character goes to the back row first
@@Neal4D it went pretty well! At the start I was doing it perfectly 50% of the time and taking random hits 50%. I couldn’t work out why. In the end I realised, after the spam clicked behind me I was too slow on the spam click to the left/right. Once I sped up I was all good. Now to practice!
Good Video man So I am having a problem.... when I click on Vork to attack and spam click on the rocks, my character turns and shoots one time, but he doesn't walk forward one square after firing, so I get hit once before going to the other side... Any tips on what I am doing wrong?
The acid pools are random everywhere except the back row by where you enter the area. But for that row to be empty every time, you need to be standing where I stand in the guide as the acid attack starts. So stand where I stand, and when you see the acid attack, you can instantly move to that back row. GL!
Awesome tutorial!, I have a question tho, how do you setup your inventory in fixed mode? But your screen is on 'expand' mode? Is that a Runelite plugin?
Destim Hold down the control key I believe is what it is, and you can move the mini map wherever you want. So basically I just drug it down next to the inventory as if it were Fixed.
Tried every other video and died, got 2 kills without dying after watching this lol. I still took 1 hit of damage, so I have some practice to do, but thanks for the video
no it wasnt long range, let me rephrase. the attack range of a normal attack range is two tiles in front of the entrance correct? so after clicking back and the other direction, instead of walking back one tile and then the other direction, I directly walk to the other direction without turning back first. How do I stop that from happening? it happened a few times already its frustrating

4:00 the threshold is definitely not 35% for anything, it depends on the max hp of the monster, if a monster doesnt have a lot of max hp diamond is already better than ruby at 100% hp
You are very weird man :S the rune pouch goes in the last inventory slot not the first one
no it goes in first slot on second row with bolts above them and pots along them 2 rows and rest food
@@ryantimms7908 my god this is my exact setup
@@skayhitdalotto453 yeah man i like it, i havent played osrs in a couple months now, but kinda thinking about getting back into it again, but having a girlfriend she gets pissed off me playing it cuz it takes over my life
Turn on actual tile click him and then in front of him as soon as the actual tile pops up in the back row.
Last note, after trying, his method is going between running.... I reccomend walking. Much easier :D
This video was made a while ago but it was the only one that got me to grasp it out of all of them out there lol
Diego Rico and time I only just recently got the pet. Lol 19,819kc. Check my most recent video on my channel!
Neal4D on Twitch holy shit dude congrats!
couldn't of asked for a better explanation of what i was looking for
My goodness this is a legendary video, great job man :)
Thank ya!
after mindlessly trying to melee wox walk vork i have now attempted this method its so much better
Very easy and detailed guide, nice one to learn it out of fight i didn’t think of that thank you
This is epic. Thank you a ton mate!
Glad it helped!
Just learned this mechanic better than how i were doing it before, thank you!
thanks for this quick guide! I was good with the melee woox walk, but when I started killing him with ranged I couldn't figure out how to not take damage while attacking haha
Cool, do you know if this method is better or worse than the standard blowpipe woox walk method?
I prefer it over the blowpipe method because there is much more room for error with this method. With the blowpipe, it's easy to mess up and get stacked out. The only better thing about blowpipe in my opinion is that fact you can heal with the spec, but overall I think dhcb beats it every way.
"standard" lol do you read update logs? BP hasn't been the standard since dhcb was buffed many months ago. BP is the welfare setup
@@woodsmichael23 guess you havent heard of a bgs
@@almost1889 have you ever killed vorkath before in your life? I have 400+ kills using a bgs. What does that have to do with the dhcb being clearly better than blowpipe? If you're about to argue bp is better you're wrong and probably severely lack brain cells
@@woodsmichael23 no shit I've killed vorkath you idiot why else would i comment
@@Neal4D Totally makes sense and now i know why i have been failing.
Great guide ty! Btw how do I get my mini map moved closer to the inventory like yours?
In Runelite, hold down Alt key to drag it anywhere. I move it down so it's more like being in Fixed mode, but still full screen
@@Neal4D ty I appreciate it!!
@@Neal4D thank you SO much - I was using Stretched mode at like 70% JUST for decreasing click-distance. This + the proper woox-walk tutorial is game-changing.
Thank you! Increased my kill count to 6 kills per trip.
You love to see it!
Finally doing it, you beautiful bastard!
Does this work for acb too?
Victor Torres I believe they have the same attack speed, so yes. But blowpipe with BGS would be a better option than acb, actually.
Not Even A Guide -Neal- Ironman don’t have a bgs, thanks for the guide man really helps. Are the actions same with blowpipe?
Victor Torres The Blowpipe woox walk is way different and in my opinion much harder. Still possible though, you’d just want to look up a blowpipe guide instead of a dhcb guide. Gl, and thanks!
This man is a legend.
YOU are a legend. ;)
Thanks man I feel like an absolute Chad getting 1:20 kills doing this
Thank you. I did it without dying on mobile. Feels good.
Well done! Happy to help
When I woox walk I look for a row of 4 clean tiles, then walk back and forth and shoot at the edge of the arena. Is this not maximally efficient? Maybe I can save a tick or two? I can’t shoot after 3 tiles but I can after 4 tiles, unless the travel back and forth results in a wasted tick or two
Let's say you're 90 range, what's the best time to switch to diamonds? ( hp is not in procents but numbers for me) Need some tips for fasters kills!
I wish I knew the exact math of the difference 90 range vs 99, but I don’t sadly. I’m guessing it’ll be at least somewhat similar though, so switching to diamond at 35% is what I’d say. This is just a guess! If I were you I’d just aim to switch between 35-45% ish
Can you tell me the dimensions of your screen and why you play that way? I've seen others with the same set up and might try it out
Matt Davis At the time of this upload I only had a single 27in monitor. So I would do have the screen Runelite, and the other half would be Chrome/UA-cam or whatever I was doing haha
Nice guide bro! Super helpful ❤️
Thanks! My clannie I recorded it for said it helped him, so I figured I would upload it here for others.
How did you move your mini map?
How did you get your map right above your inventory?
Hold Alt and drag the mini map
This is explained so even a dummy like myself can understand so thanks! I’m at 250kc now and can get 3 kills per trip at the most but I will report back once I get this down
hey man just curious i seem to get trapped in spot like when i click vork it my character dose not move what could i be doing wrong?
Try waiting a tick so your character goes to the back row first
yooo , its me Aryan, nice tutorial bruv
Ayyy what's up man? Much appreciated!
Simple and concise. Good work and thank you
Thanks! Hope it helped.
Is there a method like this where u can manipulate the acid but for melee ?
Really good video thanks. I’m going to try this tomorrow.
Good luck!
Sometimes when do the woox walk I don't go a tile back after I click back, and instead just left or right. Am I clicking too early?
Yes, I believe so. Try slowing down a little. If you take damage, that means you slowed down too much though
Good Video man
So I am having a problem.... when I click on Vork to attack and spam click on the rocks, my character turns and shoots one time, but he doesn't walk forward one square after firing, so I get hit once before going to the other side... Any tips on what I am doing wrong?
Are you standing all the way back? Maybe you are in attack range for your crossbow so you do not move forward
@@Creeperman567 Ohh, So i am using acb.. that have farther range than dhcb? Might be the answer
but yes i am also all the way back
@@stangskii i think the acb has 1 tile more range, could be the problem
i did 8 times, i died. this is difficult. does vorkaths acid always come to the same place?
The acid pools are random everywhere except the back row by where you enter the area. But for that row to be empty every time, you need to be standing where I stand in the guide as the acid attack starts. So stand where I stand, and when you see the acid attack, you can instantly move to that back row. GL!
What's the ticking bar atop your head?
It's a prayer helper to help with 1 tick flicking. I don't use it at vorkath but it is helpful when learning to flick throughout the game
how do you get the health and prayer bar on the sides?
i have runelite
"Status bars" in RuneLite settings.
dude ty u made it soo easy u should do more videos
did you get the pet yet
banana man Yes, 19,819kc
in which option do you move the mini map bro?
Hold down Alt then click on it and drag it anywhere.
Awesome tutorial!,
I have a question tho, how do you setup your inventory in fixed mode? But your screen is on 'expand' mode?
Is that a Runelite plugin?
Destim Hold down the control key I believe is what it is, and you can move the mini map wherever you want. So basically I just drug it down next to the inventory as if it were Fixed.
Runelite is what I use, so it’s probably a runelite feature. Not sure if it’s a feature for other clients or not!
@@Neal4D Yeah i found out yesterday after doing some research, thanks tho!
Good guide, Sold my bank for a dhcb. Up to 320kc and haven't done this yet will give it a shot. Sorry to say i got vorki yesterday at 318kc
Tried every other video and died, got 2 kills without dying after watching this lol. I still took 1 hit of damage, so I have some practice to do, but thanks for the video
whenever I click like that I still walk on the horizontal row where my attack range is, how do I stop that?
Are you using DHCB? It sounds like you are in long range. Make sure to turn that off
no it wasnt long range, let me rephrase.
the attack range of a normal attack range is two tiles in front of the entrance correct? so after clicking back and the other direction, instead of walking back one tile and then the other direction, I directly walk to the other direction without turning back first. How do I stop that from happening? it happened a few times already its frustrating

hey man i cant seem to get the timing right keep getting hit esp at the beginning of the phase
Do you know what your ping is on the world you’re using? If your ping is high, try doing everything a little quicker. And if that doesn’t work, the only other option is to try slowing down. Don’t give up and you’ll find that sweet spot that works for you. I think the highest ping I ever used was about 130-140. Any higher than that, it would be tougher get the timing rigght
@@Neal4D my ping is generally low like 40 i was on beta world practicing it so may have been a little highe i had to die 40 times but i can do it now but i cant do it consistently i get hit at least once i need some sort of timing or consistent way of doing it
@@Neal4D my ping is 15 on default world and on beta world 13 ping am from uk. Main issues were moving 2 steps forward instead of one and getting damaged as i click to attack vorkath also i tried timining with the fireballs and he shoots too many too fast
@@coachingconfidant2785 In the main game are you using dhcb? Kind of odd you’ll sometimes step forward two tiles. Makes me think maybe it’s the weapon not having the right range, run being on instead of off, or maybe just timing too slow. If you have the dhcb, run turned off, then just keep trying! That’s super low ping compared to what I used in the video so your clicks will maybe need to be timed a little differently than mine in this video
@@Neal4D yeah i am i found out that my timing was messed up ITS THE TRUE TILE MAN thats what helped me get it right watching the true tile to know when to click rather than guessing like in ur vid or looking at the fireballs
