It surely was. It's so beautiful to see The Fed, right up to near the end of his career, STILL owning the court the way he did ... his movement, his smart shot selections, his dominance of the net. GEE we miss him so much. Good thing guys like you will continue to remind us of his brilliance with more match posts.

What truly distinguishes Roger Federer from his rivals, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, is his extraordinary ability to unsettle opponents from the very first point. Federer possesses a rare talent for making his game feel like an intricate puzzle that is exceedingly difficult to unravel, especially for players facing him for the first time.
This ability comes from not only his technical prowess but also his strategic mindset, which allows him to adapt quickly and exploit any weaknesses. In fact, throughout his illustrious career, he has rarely experienced defeat at the hands of an untested opponent.
His elegant playing style, characterized by a mix of precision, fluidity, and creativity, further enhances this challenge for newcomers. From the moment the match begins, Federer’s presence on the court is imposing, as he showcases a unique combination of power and finesse that leaves opponents feeling unsure and hesitant.
This remarkable ability to remain elusive and unpredictable, particularly in the early rounds of tournaments, is a testament to his exceptional skill and mastery of the game. It underscores not only his experience but also his mental sharpness, making him a formidable contender right from the outset of any competition.

2012, long 5 years!!! Only cause of Novak !!! Soonest Novak gets injured and went for the surgery, he scratches 3 more GS. Novak come back , again winning everything, Nadal just few, mostly his RG, and Federer 0, like before!!! Novak dominated Roger and all other players over a decade!!! He destroyed Federer at Aus Open, US Open, Wimbledon 😬😬😬 I’m sure that Federer wanted to retire 2014,2015 somewhere there, cause he was desperate!!! Thank you for sharing. Great video and documentary of Federer’s greatness shining even late in his career against a top modern player. He is the ONLY great player, likely the last great player with elements of all the greatest players in history. His smooth, classic serve can be compared to just about any of the greatest servers, maybe the best spot server. His volleys remind us of the Aussie greats of the 50’s. His slice backhand reminds us of Ken Rosewall’s. He has the touch of McEnroe. He moves more beautifully than Nastase. He can power his one hand topspin backhand like the great don budge who won the grand slam in the 30’s. Put extreme topspin like Kuerten. Or often hit sharp angles like Nastase and McEnroe. Finally, his forehand even with a classic eastern grip used throughout the ages was arguably at his best the most lethal shot in modern tennis. It’s no wonder Federer’s the most loved and admired player in history by both young and old fans and past champions.

And then Federer brought me back to tennis again.

And of course that zesty joyous body language of his 2003-2008 mind blowing miracle years have been replaced by the thoughtful demeanor of an older wiser maybe even jaded elder statesman of the sport, contemplating the looming final chapter of his glorious career at the peak of which “when we were kings” the Sun literally never set on Roger…………🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Managed to push Federer into more uncharacteristic errors than he is used to. Happy to agree that he was certainly tested. Still disagree with the war tag. Good match. Entertaining to the end.
