I do agree with this. The Fed was super FUN to watch, for players and non-players alike. Most players you cannot say this about, even if they're super talented. McEnroe was another player who i found fun to watch. Interesting that Johnny Mac was one of Federer's favorite players. "Birds of a feather" perhaps ....

The variety that Federer played these points with tells you everything you need to know about him as a player. There are different angles, pace, depth, drive volleys... defense to offense etc. Every point is different from the next! A compilation with Djokovic, every point will basically look the same. I know who my goat is and he's not from Serbia.

Exactly. That's why he's the GOAT. He could do anything and everything. I think it was Stan Wawrinka who once said practicing with Roger depressed him because Roger can do anything he wants on a tennis court - anything at all. I remember after a Wimbledon match one year Roger was asked about his hardest serve and he said he can hit in the 140mphs. The reporter asked why he didn't do it in matches and Roger said he preferred accuracy and consistency. Ouch.

People can debate GOAT status til the end of time, but there is no tennis player I’d rather watch than Roger. It’s just such beautiful tennis. Incredible shot diversity, precision placement, power and depth on both sides, creating angles that mere mortal players can only dream about, total understanding of court geometry, every spin imaginable, it goes on and on. To me watching Roger play is like getting a glimpse of true perfection in an otherwise imperfect universe. Thank you Raz for this incredible compilation.

As someone born in the later millennial era… how can you find joy in modern day tennis when you were brought up on this era. The way Federer played tennis, not even Nadal or Djokovic could do. Not even Alcaraz or Sinner. He was on another level, quality wise. So effortless, so artistic. No other player comes close.
And before you tell me Djokovic is the Goat, let me remind you that Nole was lucky in the way that he was young enough to be in the circuit with the next gen, and steal Slams from them. The Next Gen was never good enough and barely earned any Grand slams, until Alc and Sinner showed up. There is luck in that.

    • @kweizi5712

Djokovic so lucky that there was no younger threat for about 2 tennis generations. That is the reason why the era of the big 3 went for so long. Djokovic had the advantage of being the youngest and injury free when his rivals limped towards the end of their careers. Even Murray, who might have been able to challenge his reign at the top had his career cut short.
