@@amandastevenson6101 I know exactly how you feel, I discovered PT recently and had to resist the urge to just listen to Fear of a Blank Planet from beginning to end on repeat. For me, the best artist this century, his albums are all very well produced and vary significantly in style from the last one. The latest live album should be given as a lesson on how to make a great sounding live album, I was at the concert (which also sounded great). Keep doing what you are doing Steven, cant wait to be surprised by the next one.

I've seen PT three times and Steven solo once. Great musician and a very genuine musician despite his success. I actually met him and talked to him the first time I saw him live(way back in 2001). Very approachable at that time. I'll always be a fan. Anyway, I initially found him through the prog rock genre but I'm glad he has expanded and now has fans from other genres.

  • @SomeOfTheJuice

Steven talking about the achievement of having a diverse, or "unsorted," audience is something so many artists miss, and it's part of that why he's so great. Steven understands that pigeonholing yourself is one of the worst things you can do as an artist, and by preventing himself from doing that is why he's grown more and more popular as time has gone on.

17:40 I really hate that! People used to go and buy vinyls and they used to listen to the LP from the beginning to its end. Now they pick up a few songs (usually the hits) and that's really bad. You can't get the whole picture of the band and you can only judge them from a single. We should be listening a whole album, as if we were watching a film or reading a book.

@21:24 that's the real definition of an ARTIST. An artist is someone that creates an art for HIMSELF. He/she doesn't care if the audiences are going to like it or not, although he/she is thirsty for its appreciation all the time. The real artist is SELFISH.
On the other hand, those who's creation is rather driven by the audiences is an ENTERTAINER.

I dont care...Just as long as its not rap. Rap and hip hop is not music. Its just a medium to me. I know im going to get a lot of heat for stating my opinion. I love Wilson as a songwriter and Porcupine Tree.
