Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make... A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ► www.patreon.com/brosofdecay
1:21:30 is called a desert rose. This is however the largest and best preserved desert roses I have seen. I would love to add these 2 to my collection. I am from Namibia and we used to dig up the sand roses ourselves close to the desert. (Desert roses are formed in wet sand. They are evaporites where the crystal formation has occurred as a result of inflow of water containing dissolved calcium sulfate balanced by an outflow of water due to evaporation. Such minerals are used as indicators of arid climates during the time they were formed.)
DEAREST BROS OF DECAY , HELLO , HOW DO YOU DO ? THAT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT NO MATTER HOW VERY RICH YOU ARE , YOU CAN'T TAKE THEM WITH YOU TO YOUR GRAVE . I THINK AND BELIEVE , THAT ONCE YOU PASS AWAY , IF NOT GIVEN TO THE NEXT GENERATION , GIVE IT INSTEAD TO CHARITY . YOUR MEMORY AND KINDNESS GENEROSITY WILL BE REMEMBERED THE PEOPLE'S LIFETIME . UNFORTUNATELY , MANY , WOULD RATHER HAVE THEM DESTROYED , THAN GIVEN TO CHARITY . THAT'S THE TRUE TESTIMONY OF THEIR VERY OWN PERSONAL CHARACTER , GREED AND HEARTLESS . AND IF , THEY ARE REMEMBERED BY PEOPLE , IT'S ALL BUT NEGATIVE , AND GOD WOULD CERTAINLY NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM IN THE TIME OF JUDGMENT . WITH LOVE , PRAYERS , HUGS , AND SWEET KISSES , FROM ME , AND MY FAMILY , " THE ROTHSCHILD'S . " FAREWELL MY SWEET AND HANDSOME DARLING . 😊😍😘
🥰What beautiful treasures! .... At the start of the video in a room you called a "Religious Sitting Room", time marked @ 11:51 You pointed to a three-headed figure with some sort of base... THIS was actually part of a column...this decorative piece would have been at the top of a column...the three heads are of Angels 😇 ... I love your virtual tours, you do an excellent, detailed tour of this place and many others and it is really nice to be able to see things which normally most people wouldn't have the ability to see and experience the joy of learning about interesting places and thier fascinating treasures! Thank you so very much! ❤
I find it heartbreaking to see these gorgeous places go to ruin all those beautiful things left to rot and you dressed fantastic for the part such a handsome young Man U seemed to fit right in
It's 0200 and I should have been to sleep hours ago. However I am enthralled in your video's! I Love how you dressed the part right away I noticed that. Your so careful and Respectful to every Antique. It's heartbreaking just to think all of this History rotting 😭. As you go thru I imagine the life that once filled those rooms and how the owner ones loved all of those art pieces. You two truly have a gift and I for one will be happy to help fund more trips and video's! Well done to you both and God Bless you on your adventure's!
All of these ancient buildings should become museums or national historic sites! It’s a win-win situation: the castles get the much needed renovations and people can make income from opening these places to the public.
You cannot make an income from opening such places to the public. Restauration costs are extremely high and the amount of entrance fees very low. If it were a good business, someone would do it.
@@bademstv1513 Fr I don’t think ppl understand the upkeep cost it takes for these properties. So for you even brake even would be a task itself There’s a reason why the monarchs had to have free labor slaves to make it happen back in the day😂
I simply cannot understand the love of collecting from the whole world being left to decay and exist no more. It is mind boggling and extremely sad to me. Surely, prior to accident or illness, some arrangements could have been made to protect these collections of artifacts and paintings. It is beyond belief that they couldn't be saved to be shared. Thank you so much, Leslie and team, for sharing them with us. Also, Leslie, in period costume, was greatly appreciated.
I have several things to say… (1) I’m 56 years old - just wanted to give you an idea of part of your fan base. 😉 And you are only one of three channels I watch regularly because I enjoy it so much. In the rabbit-hole world that is UA-cam, I mean that as a major compliment. (2) I LOVE that you dressed up in a period clothing for this one! ❤️ (3) Those “hanging rugs” are actually called “tapestry”, and those tapestries you showed looked to be in amazing condition - just needing to be cleaned. They can be worth THOUSANDS of dollars if not in the millions, depending in how old they are, their condition, of course, and whether or not they are handmade, which can take years. (4) You picked up a small trinket box towards the beginning and said it had marble inlay - that looked like ivory, which is MUCH MORE VALUABLE than marble. Which leads me to number (5) I truly enjoy your passion shared in these videos. You should do yourself and your audience a real service by taking some Art History & Architecture History classes. If that’s too much for you, you should, at the very least, purchase some quality books on the subjects for your personal library. You sound like you would really enjoy & benefit from understanding what you are looking at. (6) Last, but certainly not least, I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you leave these beautiful abandoned homes as you find them, and respect the property within. 🙏🏻 Oh, wait… one more… LOL (7) Your videos are really improving! You should do this professionally - if there is a profession for breaking & entering, LOL! Peace, Blessings, and Happy Travels, xoxo
Agree with this comment. Slow panning and music probably most effective since it gives viewer a clear idea of contents and property. One can surmise quality of possessions on display. Since episodes are in English, congrats on fluency. Yes, art books and visits perhaps to museums and galleries would improve art work vocabulary and forms of architecture and knowledge of styles.
This is an absolute gem. It’s really a shame to see a beautiful place like this just rot in place. All of the art work has to mean SOMETHING to SOMEONE! Why can’t the city step in and restore it or contact the family and if they don’t want it they could Offer it to a museum. Anyway thank you so much for what you do.
I think we have to realize Leslie is a person of integrity hence why he wouldn’t dream of taking anything. I’ve watched him for a while now and he is very respectful of all items. Even in big homes strewn with garbage, he will carefully handle items, now with gloves on. He’s trying to make some things come to life, so often he tries to make educated, and uneducated guesses as to their purpose . He enjoys learning about historical artifacts and so he’s always open to correction if anyone knows better than him.
Ditto! I would trust him alone in my home when I’m gone. But I have a feeling there would be little interest in exploring an apartment. L😂. He is amazing.
Guys I really hope you consider wearing respirators indoors in the future. That's some serious black mold in that house and it's very dangerous. I'm sure others have mentioned this on here but I couldn't help but say something. Keep up the good work and take care of yourselves!
I've seen a few of your videos now and I really enjoy them. I love how respectful you are with others belongings. I also love how you make it fun by dressing up! It is so heartbreaking to see places fade away and no longer cared for. It makes me angry to see places vandalized or you can tell someone has taken something. And then I worry for things that are so valuable. I don't know if you can do anything to protect them, but if you could? Thank you thank you so much for sharing! I can't wait to see more!
This is by far the most exquisite palace you have taken me to. The beauty of the petit point upholstery of the love seat and chairs, the carpets, the art work. The beautiful Venecian glass chandeliers. This palace not only shows wealth, but refined taste
This was such a wonderful experience that you gave us, from the way you dressed your calm story telling to the enumerate treasures you showed us. I agree this castle should be restored and made into a museum. Thank You so much! 😄
This house is full of history, it looks like the owner was an archeologist and historian. All the contents in that house museums and libraries should save them. You look so handsome dressing like Napoleon Bonaparte! Thank you for sharing this video👍.
These magnificent homes must be preserved. We live in a world that is too quick to tear things down and make a parking lot or build an IKEA or a WALMART.
I feel like you had permission to be in there. A few reasons. 1 the lawns taking care of. 2 it's seems to clean for sitting for 5+ yrs. 3. You usually touch and open more things. Either way it was a great video. 👍 keep up the good work.
I agree with you. There must be owners with interest in that property. Yes, too clean to be abandoned. Burglars would have taken all those gorgeous wooden figurines and oil paintings and made money...specially in the situation Europe is facing....
I was highly impressed with your “Period Dress”! yet disappointed that you didn’t wear Gloves! and when I witnessed you breaking an article I was mortified! It’s not necessary to disturb some of the Delicate Articles! That’s why Camera have ZOOM lens!
Everybody makes mistakes it is all rotting into the ground. Get over yourself. I'm working cerned with what he's breathing. He's always been very respectful. Maybe you could donate some money for gloves and a proper air mask for the black mold growing all over the walls
Not a thing is wasted here with your tender respectful touch and glimpses of time gone by .. This palace has been left intact for posterity. We are so privileged to have you to escort us around. Thank you again for another gem of a tour.
Those paintings on the wall are called ‘frescos’, the tiles are likely from an old chapel, or the original chapel within the grounds. The wood and paper on the wall near the wooden statue with the rosary, are very old religious artefacts and prayers. The boy holding the cross with Maria is baby Jesus. The little boy in the paining with the collar is either lord Fauntleroy or an ancestor. The rugs in the wall are medieval tapestries and I think telling everyone the former owners name only opens the place up to looting and theft. The mirror with the painting is called a Turneau mirror. The phone is phone from the war, that soldiers used in battle. I doubt this property has been abandoned if the house is being cared for. It looks like you had permission to film too. The man was an eye doctor and the kit you picked up was for looking at the behind the cornea. Loving how appreciative and respectful you are of the property and the belongings within. Lovely find. Just hope this can be preserved, saved and not looted. Lesley has a lovely calming voice for presenting this too.
Yes. Additionally, the "rugs" on the walls are tapestries. The first thing I saw in the library looks like an exquisite Tiffany chandelier which was my fave.
Totally agree!! His, best episode yet!! I want to thank you for your observations, as I too am very detailed and many of your explanations answered many of my questions!!! God bless ❤
Yh I think the place is being looked after as all those things would have been taken by now the first room the table and chairs doesn't fit the space, in front of the fireplace and that side table in front of the door on the right that wouldn't be there either. I'm surprised a family would build something this small the proportions are not big enough or grand ideas the hallways are only big enough for one person wide
That place looked like a Museum... with all the paintings and art effects in there as well as antiques it must be worth quite a lot of money. With all the black mold growing everywhere it may have been a health issue and so they had to leave as exposure to black mold can kill you over time. At the least, make you extremely ill with respiratory illnesses. Even short-term exposure can have repercussions on your health so you may want to consider wearing a protective mask so you don't breathe it in. It was an absolutely beautiful time capsule well worth showing and as usual, you did a wonderful job of bringing it to the world. But always place your health first, not the entertainment of others. With that being said, thank you Leslie for bringing us this amazing castle to enjoy. God Bless.
Thank you Leslie for taking us on the tour. Its a shame it may not be saved. That family were serious collectors filling all those walls with priceless art. What a treasure we can see it before it is too late. They were also great decorators.
This one is killing me ! Extremely heart breaking. I only wish I could afford to buy this a restore. And keep everything where it is ! Can’t say enough. Your best one ! By far guys
I would love to see an appraisal team come in and analyze all the Artwork and artifacts! They just might faint! I bet there are so lost works of art in there. Hope they are saved before they are ruined or stolen. It would be nice to have a follow up video as to what has happened after this discovery, if anything
This place is one of my absolute favorites....I have watched 20 times, I never get tired of seeing all the artwork and paintings... thank you so much for sharing it with me....
Agreed. I've watched this episode several times. The artwork and artifacts are incredible. I just know those African artifacts are ancient and would be beloved if returned so they can be put in a museum.
❤love this one a lot! It may hold the #1 exploration and I have watched this year, 2024, 8 years. I do enjoy the very old castles with old furniture too. ♡♡
It is so incredible that a place like this still exists and that we can see it. Thank you for the outstanding narrative and explore itself. I look forward to more from you.
@@amybell8834 I love watching Leslie narrate these beautiful places. So wonderful especially witn snow that can hide alot of junk outside just rusting.
I amazes me that it was abandoned. There is hundreds of millions of dollars of artifacts in there. The African art and carvings need to be in a museum. The paintings are unbelievable. Lovely video.
Hope you all don't mind my time stamps. An amazing video! Thank you. This family traveled a lot! At 16:53 there's a brass sextant on the table for navigation on ships. I'd also like to know more about the tall glass floor vase in the corner. 27:43 (Murano, Italy? Maybe). I've never seen anything like it. It would take great skill to create something like that. . At 33:49 there is a rotating cigarette dispenser on the top of the desk (when you turn the top the doors rotate out) At 40:45 on the lower shelf, there's a Blue Willow Patterned Platter. At 44:21 you'll see the Blue Willow Soup Tureen to match. (They are from England and are 1800's pieces) At 44:51, Where the wood stoves are now, that area most likely was entirely a fire place at one point. The item on the table at 01:21:31 is called a desert rose (Selenite), it looks like it may be on a slab of petrified wood or agate. As an artist myself, I could spend days examining all of the artwork and trying to figure out the artists that painted or sketched them. Thanks again Bros of Decay.
Thank you so much for the information.... I would love to know the history behind every single object and piece of art. Although how one family can acquire such a vast and varied collection arouses suspicions and makes me feel uncomfortable even though I loved every second.
@Griffin Art Thank you, and I doubt people mind at all but instead appreciate the information if they don’t know it. I’d be interested to hear your take on the library with its war artifacts and photos, and especially the pieces of wood. Those meant a great deal to that man, or perhaps his father. The Latin pages on the wall are intriguing as well, but that photo of a crowd, with men in turbans or another style of headdress plus the pieces of wood are very telling of something historical. I can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s past this, but it brings to mind ‘the great game.’ Or some Indian uprising, I should think.
It’s one thing to see individual items like this carefully placed in separate display spots in a museum, but it is a whole new level of intriguing to see them all placed together in the way they actually were used or displayed for day to day life. It feels cohesive and real in a way that can’t be achieved looking at items sitting separately inside a display case. It’s just too bad that the decay is setting in when they’re like this.
We’ve already inquired about that. I went to French Heritage and it’s not on their lust. Apparently those who own it are so wealthy they aren’t concerned. Maddening. Since people trash it.
@@juliacobb4355 What? Blah. The grandchildren of obscenely rich and recently deceased ppl are so annoying. They probably don't know how much awesome stuff is inside that place. I mean, if my grandpa died and left that behind, I would at least try to get some of the contents of the castle into a museum. Maybe fix the place up and rent it out as a movie set or smthg. I would keep that beautiful sleigh bed. I love those things. The carvings on it are so pretty.
@@juliacobb4355 That is truly DISGUSTING ! As I always say, having money most definitely does not give you Class or a Brain. It just breaks my heart, that these Beautiful Antiques will be destroyed, If the owner does not care, Give me his name and I will contact him 😡
This tour made me speechless. So sad and beautiful, a crime that these exquisite artifacts are crumbling and being lost, Thanks for sharing your visit, this has been my favorite your so far!
You are so much more respectful than some other videos I've seen. You take the time to admire the artistic qualities, paying attention to details. You don't say how "creepy" places are. Thank you for tours of such magnificent places.
Thank you, and your team, Lesley, for the incredible time and effort you put into the tour of this Castle, and every location you visit. I can see just how much you respect the lives and culture of these people and places. It truly is a privilege to be able to glimpse into the lives of these amazing people. Thanks again.
I have a thought for you Lesley about the ragged man In the painting. Do you think it might be possibly St. John the Baptizer ? He is depicted ragged , unkempt in camel's hair as he lived in the wilderness.( I know there are alot of Biblical figures throughout ). Thanks !
Thank you so much for taking me along with you and the opportunity to see all this . I love the old and beautiful homes but it makes me very sad to see the mold and abandoned state taking over. Again, thank you for the journeys.
I can’t believe it’s still in almost original condition. Here it would have been looted and destroyed. Seeing this is just incredible. Such a lovely tribute to a time gone by. No words.
Totally blown away. I saw things in this castle that I have never seen before. You are doing such an expert job at showing these old places. Most homes of today will never be in that shape for so long. The quality of workmanship is not there anymore. Thank you for the best tour yet. Be safe.
At 14:20, the “sort of telescope” that you refer to is called a theodolite - a precision instrument to measure angles and used for surveying land. That one on the desk is one of the earliest versions of what civil/survey engineers used in the olden days.
The intro is off the chain awesome! Very Dramatic and the info on the owners, artifacts, architecture is delivered so beautifully. The history of of the times with info on the towns etc is so nice to know, opening our minds eye of the daily lives of the people. Thank you all so much for the footage and music that is put together so professionally. You guys rock!
They seem to be the same type tapestry rug in a plantation home in Louisiana / We were told that they were out lawed due to the women going blind making them The are in a Plantation Home called Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie Louisiana
They make me think of the castle of King Henry V111. Covered in taperities. They looked like they did alot of traveling, all souvenirs. Very beautiful, you look very handsome in your dress. Thanks so much for this exploration!!
I understand and admire your honesty in not damaging or stealing things. However, in cases where artifacts are on the brink of destruction or in buildings that are OBVIOUS cases of abandonment (not this castle which is still in great condition) my gut wishes that someone knowledgeable WOULD save/take/steal the objects. At least if stolen they would be preserved and eventually find their way into the hands of people that would appreciate and preserve them. Many will disagree with me. That being said, your videos are super!
It's interesting to think about the last owner, how eccentric his interest in collecting and studying things. I wonder what he was like. He might appreciate someone giving a tour of all the things he has collected over his life and capturing a snapshot of his world frozen in time. You can't take any of it with you, but I hope this all finds its way to new appreciative homes.
I saved so many interior photos of this castle on Pinterest a few years ago and here we are 😀 I think this castle is being preserved. Thank you Bros. Of Decay for the tour 💜
@@gabriellemontana1474 I saw someone post in these comments that this was the property of Dr. Philip Glazer in Oxford. Oxford? Not sure of the country. After he passed on, his daughters, Amanda and Susan were in disagreement of what to do with it so it sits in decay.
So enjoyable to watch. I've been watching you for a long time and love how respectful you are to these wonderful abandoned places and honor the people who once lived there

@@darlenedunlap7650 You're a fan of Tupac and Eazy E but you don't know how to spell their names? I guess unless you're a 90s child you may not know how they spelled their names. With that being said, the soul of a human being reborn back on earth and the material things they acquire aren't the same so I'm not sure why you chose to make that comparison. One has nothing to do with the other in the afterlife. Unless you're Ancient Eygptian and think being buried with all your worldly possessions will make you rich and comfortable in the afterlife. The attachment of material things and the rebirth of souls are vastly different subjects though. One is the attachment of things and the other of beings...The concept of reincarnation is nothing new, it has existed for virtually thousands of years...an entire religion is built around that theory... "Buddhism", you may have heard of it. They teach the subject of non-attachment to materialism and to people as a means of reaching Nirvana (A heavenly plane of existence). And yes, Angels do exist and do walk the earth from time to time, especially those needing to atone for sins against God and man. I agree with you that the Illuminati is about what's right in front of us. The very word Illuminati translates to "Illuminate" to see, to show, and to enlighten. The only issue is most people aren't ready to be shown or see and be enlighened.
Words cannot describe how beautiful this home is. I can't imagine living in a house several generations belongings are in . All those years to require that beauty then just rot away. So so sad. The antiques in one room probably worth more than my house. Love your tour and dress up. You look like you came out of one of the paintings.
I watch this report over and over again, it's just brilliant, the secret room in the library is incredible, what secrets are inside it, in another bedroom it looks like someone tried in the past to open another white safe leaving the lock destroyed without being able to access Inside, this castle is full of antiques, works of art, treasures of all kinds, it is incredibly spectacular, without a doubt one of your best explorations, Mr. also likes the tranquility and serenity that your voice and attitude give off, showing the history of the place At the same time as each and every one of the priceless objects, I've literally been watching your explorations for 72 hours, all full of history, passion and sensitivity, bravo
The way you present yourself shows confidence, class, style, passionate, romantic. This video left me speechless and in tears with so many questions as to why. The word Magnificent doesn't do it justice. Loved the extra thought of period correct attire. Perfection!
Hey guys! , Just wanted to congratulate the entire team of Bros Of Decay for showcasing such extremely rare and magnificent castles/mansions but also highlighting the neglect which these places are going through, I sincerely hope that the Ministry Of Culture (French Govt) comes up with a plan of rescue/conservation! Best wishes from my side!👍🇮🇳
Such an incredible young man. Your parents must be super proud of how you've turned out! Just having an appreciation for others lives, respect for their belongings and your humbleness is a rare treat for others!! I love watching your videos!! Have you ever collected any of the pieces to keep something for yourself? It would be so hard for me to leave without taking a token to care for. I hate that most of that beautiful art and furniture will be either stolen or decayed. 😢
if there's no owner, why not....nothing lasts, so why not let the living appreciate and make use of it rather than let it sit there and rot....thats what I call wasteful
@@BrosOfDecay Thank you for taking the time to really show us the property. The large wall hangings are called tapestries ... hand woven pictures ... here in the U.S.
So sad to see such a beautiful Castle going to waste. Such beautiful artwork and furniture just decaying away. I really wish someone can buy and restore it. That will be so awesome. Thank you for showing us this beauty.
I'm sorry but if it was me in that castle I'd be picking up everything that's nocked over & dusting as I go along, picking up every piece of paper & puting it neatly away. What a beautiful castle!!! My heart goes out to all of these places, how can anyone not love these homes.
Hahahaha. Me too! It is a terrible shame, that all those beautiful antiques, are just rotting away. Why didn't one of the historical societies from that province, clean it up for tours, and use the money for renovation?🤔
Clean up? Put away? Are you serious! That’s History! Not to be disturbed! Mother Nature will eventually clean it up if the Owners don’t! Thank God vandalism hasn’t reared it ugly head!
This is like a fantastic dream! I feel the air of elegance. This is beyond incredible! And the fact that you dressed in period costume!! Nice added touch. This IMHO is your best to date video ever. Surreal! 🇨🇦❤️

It's so cool to see this perspective of these old places. Most of the time, you only see places like this during paranormal investigations or ghost story videos. That really darkens something that is very beautiful. In that context the statues are made to seem creepy and the paintings dark and mysterious, when in fact they are just personal memento's of someone's life. Life is beautiful.
It’s so difficult to imagine the mind-set of the family leaving so much valuable behind! I, like most people, would love to have a chance to see these fabulous art works, artifact, archeological finds in a museum, not left to be ruined. These things will never come again, and therefor should be protected. Very exciting to see the through you, Leslie, but also sad.
I do hope the national museum has been notified about the extremely ancient collections of archeological finds. I am wondering how they have so many ancient pieces?! Also wondering where so many religious artifacts are from and how they were 'acquired '.
Not just the religious artifacts, but also all the African art. Considering the exploitative nature of colonialism in history, it’s highly unlikely all of those were acquired ethically at the time. It feels eerie seeing the way the art taken from their original cultures is clearly displayed with a great deal of appreciation and pride in the collection, while the actual people and cultures they came from were likely being dehumanized and exploited at the time it was acquired.
Leslie.you looked like the Lord of this manor too bad you weren't then.you could take care of all the treasures before thieves got to them so sad that it's left to decay they should give tours and restore it .Thanks for showing us this treasure💕
Thank you for showing this. It was truly beautiful and heartbreaking to see how it's decaying and falling apart. I appreciate the fact the original family stayed as long as they did but wish the ancestors continued because they should have been able to take care of it if they had wealth. I hope something can be done to this beautiful place to keep it for more to enjoy. I appreciate what you do.
Someone is still taking care of the grounds, also seems as if the place gets dusted periodically. I would've expected so much more dust if it hadn't been touched in 6 years. Enjoyed the video, wonder how'd they decide where to sit with so many options 😂😜
I’ve been following these brothers from the beginning and still never tire from watching their videos/episodes. I just admire how they respect the past and the once upon a time lives that dwell ❤️
Although the love seeing the architecture for these old places, it saddens to not see them cared for. However, this one truely made me angry. As a history of art buff and student of archeology it was sickening to see the variety of cultural treasures being allowed to decay and disintegrate. So many items that belong in art galleries or museums. And quite frankly, many misappropriated historical artifacts that should be returned to the country of origin. I can't tell you how many extremely valuable items were there and for no one to care about preserving them makes me wonder about the nature of their acquisition to begin with. Thank you for finding and giving us a tour but seriously, please contact some nearby reputable museum's about the contents. Don't get me started about items on the table and that Madonna statue hidden away in the secret library room. I recognized Egyptian tools for mummification that if said country knew about, would trigger extradition protocol. Perhaps that's why no one has bought the place, the cost or repairs, mold removal and bringing up to code is too ambitious. Should be a government undertaking with archival endowments. Returning the African, Indo-Asian, Egyptian cultural artifacts is mandatory especially in light of the pathetic manner they are currently stored in. Such allocation is neccessary to the correct record keeping of not just art in one culture but the cultural history of all of us. Such important peices do not belong to a few wealthy people but to whole nations and the world.
Every generation has things that need to be archived for posterity. Not for the few, but for the many who come after and want truth in history. Gods blessings to those who preserve for all humanity, unvarnished truth.
Why? This isn't your stuff. You didn't buy it. The owners have every right to All w it to rot. This uoug man is guilty of breaking and entering. He IS breaking the law. If I were to get angry, it would be the sheer hubris of thus young man.

You do present yourself and your explorations in a manner that makes your audience feel drawn in and real-time. I respect you for the manner that you handle property so gently. I enjoy all your presentations. The costume was a nice touch. Keep up the good work. You're a natural.
What a beautiful place! It is just obscene that it is being allowed to be retaken by the elements. Losing the building is bad enough, but losing the building with all of that artwork and wonderful furniture is just unimaginable. I can't understand how this can be allowed to happen. Surely the owner of this place made arrangements for it to be handed down to heirs after his death? Incredible!
@@ominous-omnipresent-they I get that you’re just trolling with that comment but the fanatical version of that same attitude has crushed my past and made me flee my birth country.
@@e-moshe Actually, it was more attempt at mild sarcasm than anything. For me, the idea of complacency as these things slowly decay away is even less dignified than looting it.
I love exploring old houses Chateaus & castles! This one was probably my favorite because there was no graffiti human destruction or hoarding & almost everything was left as it was when inhabited. The period costume was an added bonus thx so much for this amazing tour!
Leslie congratulations on a truly magnificent presentation. I was so mesmerised by this, it was as always a top notch job by you. It is so sad that most of the artefacts will either be damaged beyond repair, or stolen, but at least you have documented them for posterity. Thank you! And on closing those clothes actually really suited you. And remember we Love you and Danny too ❤
This place is so gorgeous that it makes me want to go through it with bleach and clean away all of the black mold and then with a bucket of murphy's oil soap and clean all of the beautiful wood furniture and make it look new again! And Lesley, I LOVE your costume, it goes so well with the video! Nice job!! xo
Sadly, because of the black mold, it is a very unhealthy environment. Breathing the air and disturbing the mold can make a person very ill. Even sadder is the fact that nothing in this beautiful place could ever be salvaged.
I love the way you feel/imagine that you are in the area of this period. You even dressing in the correct time period. You have such class. You put together your videos wonderfully. Love the music, well, just everything ya'll do putting videos together .
By far! The most stunning home you've filmed to date. I'd have to spend several days to photograph that beauty! Just so many incredible things to see!. Thank you for giving us the chance to view this with you.
Thank you so much for filming and describing this piece of architectural history. Since I was a graduate student studying architectural history at University of Oxford, upon investigating the history of country estates, I greatly appreciate these magnificent buildings and structures. It is sad to see a building such as this one with black mold starting on the ceiling and down some walls as a result of water damage from the decay in roofing. I wish these buildings could be restored and rehabilitated and used to protect for future generations. Thank you for filming and sharing.
Caught this halfway through the live premier -- and now I have to carve out time to go back and watch it all from the beginning! Because, like, what the heck! Leslie in period costume?? (You look completely natural, Leslie! 😊) Love the music choice, too! But now I have to go back for the story -- and the downstairs rooms! Amazing castle!!
Your introductory to this explore was amazing. Photography was perfect as the music was perfect for the descriptions you gave. I like your time period clothes that added to the ambiance of this amazing time capsule. Thank you again and again for your exquisite explores!
There's an old saying "lying in blame sight." Maybe one those fascinating artifacts....on that mesmerizing table...is geared to opening that stunning safe!!! A most lovely and genuine narration Lesley...as always. Looking forward to many many more.
I don’t understand why the French government can’t take eminent domain over some of these places or at least the artwork and artifacts inside. It truly is SUCH a tragedy that so much historic artwork and collectible furniture is just being left to the ravages of time 😞
What a fantastic presentation!! You looked superb in period dress and were so careful and respectful of all the beauty. This was beautifully paced and so worth the time you took to see everything Thank you!!
This is so much more than an abandoned castle. The owners were clearly fine art collectors going back centuries. The art and artifacts alone could fill an entire museum. Just astounding and baffling that it’s not being claimed, or at least the artwork and items within it.
Somewhere thete is someone who owns that. Sometimes it takes years to track down distant family. You look spectacular in 18th century attire. Very Handsome. The previous poster was correct you would love taking Art History in College. I can see you potentiality teaching it someday. I love the longer videos. Thank you 🤗
What an amazing place. I cannot imagine anyone abandoning this property. It saddens me to see the dust, the dirt, and the signs of neglect. Surely, someone in the family can step in. If not, perhaps they would adopt me! Thank You for an amazing adventure through this beautiful, mysterious, and captivating place.
WOw!! What an incredible find and tour of that sadly forgotten mansion. I could live there - if I could afford it. Amazing find indeed. Beautiful. Thanks Leslie and team.
Surely all of the beautiful art, sketches and portraits have sentimental value to some family members. This abandoned castle seems to be quite well preserved and it wouldn't be too difficult to bring it all back to life. I can't understand how every family member has lot interest in this place. So many treasures.
The room right off the entry way or foyer would be a salon or game room, not a dining room. And the 'emblem' in the fireplace is called a Coat of Arms. Also I would add the photo of people saluting looked like Charles Degaul and those portable phones were most likely from WWII.
That place needs a new roof and someone to care for it, it's definitely fixable and in pretty good shape ..wow, thanks for the amazing tour ,you played the role perfectly

Do you at least try to gain permission before visiting these properties?
I love the music
🥰What beautiful treasures! ....
At the start of the video in a room you called a "Religious Sitting Room", time marked @ 11:51 You pointed to a three-headed figure with some sort of base...
THIS was actually part of a column...this decorative piece would have been at the top of a column...the three heads are of Angels 😇 ...
I love your virtual tours, you do an excellent, detailed tour of this place and many others
and it is really nice to be able to see things which normally most people wouldn't have the ability to see and experience the joy of learning about interesting places and thier fascinating treasures!
Thank you so very much! ❤
I find it heartbreaking to see these gorgeous places go to ruin all those beautiful things left to rot and you dressed fantastic for the part such a handsome young Man U seemed to fit right in
It so beautiful to see. Yet I'm finding it so painful to see this magnificent estate just sitting headed to further decay.

I don’t think ppl understand the upkeep cost it takes for these properties. So for you even brake even would be a task itself
There’s a reason why the monarchs had to have free labor slaves to make it happen back in the day😂
Renovations has to be done first. That will cost ten Million!
@@leancove9662 Yes, that's a reasonable amount for smaller historic sites.
you see the new reset is not interested in the glorious past but ....destroying IT and those who remember....?
Most of that stuff should be in a museum. Some of that art work is priceless.
I agree
Ditto! I would trust him alone in my home when I’m gone. But I have a feeling there would be little interest in exploring an apartment. L😂. He is amazing.
Should close drawers and cases properly though, if he opens those items to check contents.
He was a dr and a collector .
He was definitely adding to the house. Lol
Yes definitely a collector of artifacts, he truly did look the part.
Archaeologists are not treasure hunters.
All the histories, the lives lived and lost, the stories told and untold.... These places are amazing part of history.
These magnificent homes must be preserved. We live in a world that is too quick to tear things down and make a parking lot or build an IKEA or a WALMART.
yoyo ghosTs everywhere 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Duncan 👻Booo!!!🪀🤣😂
I feel like you had permission to be in there. A few reasons. 1 the lawns taking care of. 2 it's seems to clean for sitting for 5+ yrs. 3. You usually touch and open more things. Either way it was a great video. 👍 keep up the good work.
I agree with you. There must be owners with interest in that property. Yes, too clean to be abandoned. Burglars would have taken all those gorgeous wooden figurines and oil paintings and made money...specially in the situation Europe is facing....
Why would they mow the lawn though and leave a gaping while l hole in the roof for everything to get wet and moldy?
Did it get turned over to the government and up for sale
Thanks Karen
Thank you beautiful! Bless you. Xx
You need Danny! The guy filming doesn't know how to interact with you. Seems mean on his part. You deserve better!
Truly baffles me that someone doesn’t step in and save this!!😢
This one is killing me ! Extremely heart breaking. I only wish I could afford to buy this a restore. And keep everything where it is ! Can’t say enough. Your best one ! By far guys
yeah, kinda wish I could see the family actually living within the walls of this castle. Their remnants surely tell a tale!
If youngsters discover that this is empty, the consequences are ....let's say a drama (steal everything and destroy it with grafity etc)
Actually, France is a lot different than us heathens in America
I would love to see an appraisal team come in and analyze all the Artwork and artifacts! They just might faint! I bet there are so lost works of art in there. Hope they are saved before they are ruined or stolen.
It would be nice to have a follow up video as to what has happened after this discovery, if anything
Clean it out and open an antique store in the US people would go crazy to get their hands on these and it is better than just letting them rot away.
Totaly agree with you, im a retired art dealer and they are many many good quality paintings hanging there..Need a closer look and saving..
I recognized one of the paintings to believe to be a million dollar painting
Some of those chairs and desks/dressers are worth tens of thousands also. It's upsetting to see them ignored and forgotten.
Isn't this an appraisal for those with an eye, a bent, a removal van or two and a list of customers ¿?
This place is one of my absolute favorites....I have watched 20 times, I never get tired of seeing all the artwork and paintings... thank you so much for sharing it with me....
Agreed. I've watched this episode several times. The artwork and artifacts are incredible. I just know those African artifacts are ancient and would be beloved if returned so they can be put in a museum.
❤love this one a lot! It may hold the #1 exploration and I have watched this year, 2024, 8 years. I do enjoy the very old castles with old furniture too. ♡♡

Nice words Charlotte , how are you doing ?
The entire castle should be a museum and kept in good condition.
I wish I would’ve lived in these times. Books, candle light in the evenings no television no phone. It’d be so peaceful…
Thx for referencing and labeling items!
Thank you so much for the information.... I would love to know the history behind every single object and piece of art. Although how one family can acquire such a vast and varied collection arouses suspicions and makes me feel uncomfortable even though I loved every second.
Thank you so much for letting us know what’s what as it adds even more appreciation of this video.
@Griffin Art
Thank you, and I doubt people mind at all but instead appreciate the information if they don’t know it.
Perhaps the wood is from a significant cross or from a church?
Oh, I do hope someone is able to rescue all those invaluable treasures before it is too late!
I hope so too Christine!
@@BrosOfDecay have you notified anyone?
I’m going to try!
@@BrosOfDecay very vague.. tut tut
Someone needs to rescue this beautiful furniture. Surely the government could intercede in such situations and place the houses content in a museum.
I agree!
We’ve already inquired about that. I went to French Heritage and it’s not on their lust. Apparently those who own it are so wealthy they aren’t concerned. Maddening. Since people trash it.

Those textiles hanging from the walls aren't rugs, they are very, very, early tapestries. Incredible. Well done!
They seem to be the same type tapestry rug in a plantation home in Louisiana / We were told that they were out lawed due to the women going blind making them
The are in a Plantation Home called Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie Louisiana
They make me think of the castle of King Henry V111. Covered in taperities. They looked like they did alot of traveling, all souvenirs. Very beautiful, you look very handsome in your dress. Thanks so much for this exploration!!
I can not believe all the things are just going to stay there and ruin, so sad 😞
One has nothing to do with the other in the afterlife. Unless you're Ancient Eygptian and think being buried with all your worldly possessions will make you rich and comfortable in the afterlife.
Perfection!
Thank you so much 😊
😂😂😂😂
Hey guys! , Just wanted to congratulate the entire team of Bros Of Decay for showcasing such extremely rare and magnificent castles/mansions but also highlighting the neglect which these places are going through, I sincerely hope that the Ministry Of Culture (French Govt) comes up with a plan of rescue/conservation!
Best wishes from my side!👍🇮🇳
So so sad to see all the beautiful furniture just left to rot.. amazing to see how quickly a home can fall into decay. Once again great video Lesley.
by the likes of you
if there's no owner, why not....nothing lasts, so why not let the living appreciate and make use of it rather than let it sit there and rot....thats what I call wasteful
I love the way he dressed for the occasion😍😍also love his voice and accent.
Thank you darling :)
This castle is beautiful i love to be there
@@BrosOfDecay Thank you for taking the time to really show us the property. The large wall hangings are called tapestries ... hand woven pictures ... here in the U.S.
he such a noble✨
So sad to see such a beautiful Castle going to waste. Such beautiful artwork and furniture just decaying away. I really wish someone can buy and restore it. That will be so awesome. Thank you for showing us this beauty.
I’m lucky I found this site because I love watching old castles like this, thank you
Lesley for giving me or everyone a chance to see all these
I'm sorry but if it was me in that castle I'd be picking up everything that's nocked over & dusting as I go along, picking up every piece of paper & puting it neatly away.
Если бы мне довелось побывать в это замке, я бы присвоил самое ценное, а остальные вещи продал с аукциона и получил прибыль.
I am still as mesmerized today watching this as I was the first time I watched it!✨ Spectacular Lesley, Much Love to You
It is heart breaking to see all those treasures rotting away!!!!
This is like a fantastic dream! I feel the air of elegance. This is beyond incredible! And the fact that you dressed in period costume!! Nice added touch. This IMHO is your best to date video ever. Surreal! 🇨🇦❤️
Heartbreaking that this fabulous artwork is being left to decay! You would think museums and art dealers or the state would step in.
I cannot believe the family doesnt keep this place locked down in case of theft.. I will move in for free and take care of it..if someone would come in and air it out a couple times a year it wouldnt have mold..
Omg its beautiful unbelievable..
Thankyou Lesley i loved this..❤

I was thinking the same thing. its almost criminal that these artifacts aren't being preserved. Theres some serious art in there too!
Good idea,
I agree but it is very difficult with a place like this... Thank you for the compliments!
Yes and the lawn is also machine cut
And imagine if you're looking for one of your spouse or one of the children. A lot of walking and/or yelling trying to get someone's attention.
Especially back in the day before cell phones 😂
I agree. So many options. I know i'd be relaxing in on of the beautiful chaise lounges.
@@la1344... They knew how to get around, People still walk a lot in Europe.
I agree with all you wrote.
Well said.
I absolutely love this beautiful mansion!! Your amazing story telling and depictions of their life. What it may have been like. The time appropriate attire. So special and priceless. A true treasure. You have many gifts. A soft and caring voice. A love for historical information and events. Respect. With Love from America. 😘
I love watching these. It is difficult to find abandoned furnished houses in Kentucky, USA, but we have many with awesome land overgrown around them.
Yes, you are a fine young man. I appreciate the way you tell your story without the over-the-top drama. I love the way you address the camera/cameraman like you are speaking directly to your audience.
Incredible!
I totally agree, wish someone would rescue this house and all its valuables
See, this is precisely why we should loot it.
I love every corner of the castle, every piece, sculptures, decoration, lamps.... What a great taste and what a shame that it is abandoned😢
Nice job!! xo
I would love to come over to help you cleaning.
Hello Stephanie.....
I'd even bring the Murphy's, love the smell of it.
It’s sad to see the disrepair when a good scrubbing would go a long long way!
Your dressing up cracks me up. That honestly shows how much you love what you do. Cudos to what you two for what you two do!
Thank you very much Lisa :) Loved to take you on a tour!
Hello Lisa.....
It truly is SUCH a tragedy that so much historic artwork and collectible furniture is just being left to the ravages of time 😞
I know what your saying , but the government doesn’t deserve it.
The current owners should try and sell it it's wasting away the water coming through roof Nd ceiling
@@kookyjoeb5524 so in your words let it rot over it going to the government that represents the people.
@@TheAnonyy but they won’t because usually they are bickering amongs themselves

What a fantastic presentation!! You looked superb in period dress and were so careful and respectful of all the beauty. This was beautifully paced and so worth the time you took to see everything
Thank you!!
Thank you
🤗
What an amazing place. I cannot imagine anyone abandoning this property. It saddens me to see the dust, the dirt, and the signs of neglect. Surely, someone in the family can step in. If not, perhaps they would adopt me! Thank You for an amazing adventure through this beautiful, mysterious, and captivating place.
It’s sad that someone who worked hard and built this mansion will all be forgotten from decay or demolition. It’s flat heartbreaking
WOw!! What an incredible find and tour of that sadly forgotten mansion. I could live there - if I could afford it. Amazing find indeed. Beautiful. Thanks Leslie and team.
It is your best find. An incredibly beautiful time warp. The secret room was the best find. Many thanks to you both.
Hello Cathleen....
Looked like Humbert
The best part of your videos is the way you show a deep respect and reverence for the properties and their contents
That place needs a new roof and someone to care for it, it's definitely fixable and in pretty good shape ..wow, thanks for the amazing tour ,you played the role perfectly
