    STORY
Welcome to our exploration of a forgotten relic of the past - a grand palace frozen in time in the heart of Portugal. Built-in the mid-1800s, this palace is a stunning blend of Victorian, Italian, and Portuguese architecture, a testament to the wealth and influence of the family who once called it home. For generations, this family knew no bounds when it came to luxury and extravagance, indulging in a life of leisure and adventure. But as time passed, the palace lost its luster, and when the family's heirs - Lucinda and her husband - inherited the estate, they were the last in line. Lucinda's husband passed away, leaving her alone in the vast and empty palace. When she too passed away in 2007, the palace was left to the mercy of time and the elements. Today, the palace lies abandoned and forgotten, its once-stunning gardens overgrown with weeds and its halls silent. Despite its significance, the family's descendants seem to have little interest in the estate, having moved on to new horizons.
Join us on a journey through the forgotten halls of this magnificent palace as we explore the secrets and mysteries left behind. Discover the history of the family who once lived here and the stories hidden within the walls of this grand estate.

It always bothers me that family members don't care about these gorgeous old houses! I understand they might not have the finances to renovate, but surely they could save and sell most of the precious furniture and other expensive items. Even the clothing could have been donated to charity. An absolutely amazing and beautiful explore, let's hope the relatives do something about the antiques etc soon. I must say, nobody does such beautiful ceilings as the Portuguese and Italian people!🦘😟🥴🤗😀

Maybe something happened to the younger family members as well, close to same time as the parents- or that time had been preceded by a falling out between the younger & older family members; or the younger family members simply did not have the means financially, physically or maybe even mentally to be able to do anything with the property & inheritance laws and after death obligations vary from country to country & could have made any actions prohibitive for relatives that might have lived on past the time of the homeowners- its hard to say - but it is possible imo that there is more to the story that explains the what & why of the current situations of these abandoned palaces they seem to find- but for us it is just a mystery of abandonment & seemingly indifference -while there may really be reasonable explanations for each

I not only love the content of your videos, but I love how respectful you are of the families and their properties. It was fun seeing you in costume. You always seem to get along so well with the people you are working with in these places. You can tell both you and Danny have a pleasant friendship and present everything so nicely. Danny seems to make sure we see small details at times when you are passing through areas that other videographers would just pass by. Overall it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience seeing things I probably would never see if you hadn't brought it to us. Thank you

Probably at that time they were satisfied about having free food, free bedroom and even living in big houses with electricity, running water, utilities and more + their salary was so low compared to nowadays.
Now we don't really have the concept of servants like before, their salaries become higher and in general individuals start having rights

Thank you again for another great exploration Lesley! The dustpan, and curved brush, in the dinning room, is used only for clearing crumbs off the table between courses. Typically, the butler, or main server, would do this job. The reason the pan, and brush, are so fancy is because it was used in front of the family, and their guests.
The rocking chair in the one room is called a bentwood rocker, in the States, due the wood being steamed, then bent into the shapes you see that make up the rocker.

I hope your family is very proud of you.

Always leaves me feeling sad the belongings still there with old memories their owners, gone. Pictures of loved ones smiling looking out into empty rooms. Like the old limp dejected teddy bear hanging sadly on a hook on the wall. Please take him down cover him with blanket, rest him on one of the children's beds in respect.

Breaks my heart to think of that house falling down with all the beautiful antiques that could bring somebody else so much joy and the beautiful ceilings and architecture. There were a few things that you didn’t capture that I would’ve been interested to see like the doors that were higher up in the little girls room. I wonder what was on the other side. Other than that all well done. Danny, you do fantastic work as well. I really appreciated you pointing out the beautiful ceilings. You guys make quite the team. Thank you.💜🤗🍄😎🇺🇸

Some interesting electricity installations. We have that too, but in our house they put the cables within lead tubes. Reason is that cables back when the installation was made were only insulated by a textile cover and often and quickly catched fire - which should be stopped from expanding by those lead tubes. So I guess this electric installation is quite "new" (after 1950).

This home and contents should be rescued from decay ASAP. Perhaps a historical society or trust could be contacted to restore this beautiful gem and the furniture for tourism. It is a historic site. People pay big attention to such places, ad the people of Portugal and the family history would be a winner for all involved in the restoration. 😍💯❤️

Hey again, dear Lesley, I just watched your video a second time, also the first twenty minutes, I had missed, because I arrived
a bit late to your lifestream! - Well, what shall I say! Wow, Lesley this palace is really a true gem!! All these beautiful antiques
in several rooms! - I also loved seeing the magnificient furniture with these intricate carvings. So beautiful! It was once more
a truly wonderful experience for me to "walk" in mind at your side through these rooms, which were so phantastically
equipped with all kind of precious items. Also the wonderful ceilings with the very beautiful chandeliers were amazing to see!
From the art historical point of view I would say, that the major part of the furniture was made in the typical historism style,
of course with Portuguese characteristiques. - Additionally I could also see some art nouveau items. - What a great contrast
were on the other hand the servant roms in the upper story! - Wonderful video, dear bro, and of course you also were so
very handsome to see with your historical attire! I could imagine you fitting as a noble count very well in the elegant rooms
of that palace, LOL! - Of course I have to say, that also Danny contributes a considerable amount with his exceptional filming
skills and very accurate background music choice to the superbe quality of your explore video!
I am naturally already now looking forward to your next video, my friend! - Stay safe, peace, many hugs and kindest regards from Switzerland.

At 22:00 , Those are REAL coffee cups. Their coffee was a lot like India coffee. Our version of it is "Cuppa-chino" without the adding of hot milk or water. They would drink the over-super saturated coffee BLACK and sip it ever so slowly, I've had it before and that stuff will grow hair on your tonge. You get the same amount of caffeine with one once then you do with a MUG of Starbucks. Bring 2 gallons of water to a boil, add 2 pounds Powdered Pulverized coffee grounds [flour like texture] Let grounds settle to the bottom [about 2 hours. Reheat to 180 𐤏 serve in one once sippy cups like the ones you showed. They would take an hour to drink it. They would refrigerate or store in the basement and drink on that batch for a week.

What a grand place. If the desendants had no interest in it, they should have donated it to the betterment of humanity, to be sold, auctioned off or to be made into a museum. Someone could have made it into a luxury lodge. It should be considered a crime to allow this to be neglected. Just think of all of the workers who created it. The tallent, the blood, sweat and the tears. This is Mrs. Ace X, in Florida.

Да, странно, что историческое здание не находится под государственной защитой, иначе бы в него вкладывались деньги и оно было бы ухоженным. Жаль.

The place is so beautiful. You two seem to really capture the essence of what once was as you walk us through each room. Why can't people have respect for these places and not need to go in to trash them. Each home you do tells a story of someones life lived. All that beautiful antique wood just sitting and being exposed to dampness etc. At sometime those pieces of furniture were probably very much treasured. Keep up your excellent videos, I always look forward to you next. Take care guys.
