  • My Jaguar XJ-S V12 spent a long time (almost 20 years) off the road before I took it home. I've been investigating a misfire since then.

I just got done chasing a puff puff misfire on my a bank. Just like your b side. Ended up being an easy fix. I suppose everything I did needed to be done anyway. Good luck. I love these cars.

Had the same problem. Turned out to be a bad injector harness holder / lead. Listen to the injectors with any piece of hose or even a screw driver. After 5 yrs of ownership of a xjs c, I've discovered most problems are usually simple fixes. Simple fixes as in to diagnose, not to actually repair. Once you get it into your head your actually working on 2 six cylinders, everything becomes so much simpler. As a side note, Feeling the exhaust is the best way to see which bank is not running properly, thus adding a X pipe as some do, ruins this simple diagnostic method. Enjoy your 12

    Whatever happened with this, Jamie?

Ah yes, funny story! I removed the LH airbox cover and filter element to better see the exhaust downpipes when I was looking for the source of a sound. I happened to notice 2 of the 4 long bolts holding the airbox and throttle body to the inlet manifold showing a quarter inch of shank. None of the 4 were tight. I don't know when someone was last in there but I hadn't touched them in my year of ownership but I think they've been slowly unwinding themselves. Anyway, I screwed them back in properly and it runs great now. It must have been leaking air after the throttle body and running lean.
