- I've picked up a new Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 AWD Estate with the Jatco JF506E automatic gearbox at the weekend. It's in lovely condition but did reveal a few mechanical issues on the trip home to resolve.

I had an x-type 3.0 V6 sport awd automatic with 97k miles on the clock. It drove like a dream until the transfer box let go while driving on the M1😢 Ford say it’s sealed for life but obviously not. It was a beautiful car and such a shame to let it go so maybe check the transfer box oil on yours 🤞🏻hopefully yours will be okay 👍🏻 good luck. Great video. 😀
Hi Craig, yeah the transfer boxes on these are rubbish. I've replaced 3 on previous cars and rebuilt 1 of them myself after a brand new one failed after 10k so I'm quite familiar with the insides now. If the need ever arises I'll show the insides of one again on video. The gear sets are pretty tough, it's the bearings which fail. Most of the bearings are really easy to change but a couple are a real pig to get out of the casing. I remember an outer race or two which couldn't be pressed out as there was nothing to hold onto and had to be carefully sliced apart with cutting discs on a Dremel. Got through most of a pack of discs!
I like your logic Jamie, surrounded by broken cars so the only sensible solution is to buy another. Always nice to see things done methodically and correctly.
