I am always so jealous when you show your calm tarantulas, being in Australia I have never found one of our species that is this calm. I wouldn't dream of attempting to handle any of mine as they are very bolty.
My pet one is bolty. I handled it on the floor last time because it kept jumping. I would pick it up and it jumped 2 inches to the floor over and over again. It was difficult to put it back

Hi Kat, I just want to say thank you for the world of information you have provided over the years! I am a notorious arachnophobe (I even get itchy at the thought of some spiders still) and have been doing exposure therapy watching you and Exotics Lair videos. You guys have helped so much with desensitisation and actually seeing how cute and cool these guys are. I actually got my first sling on Sunday so I can beat my phobia even more and care for another member in my little herd. Thank you thank you! You help so many new keepers and arachnophobes and I don't think I would have gotten this far with my phobia without you!
The plant is a Callisia Repens Pink Panther. The green plant is a Peperomia Obtusifolia! love you channel! Good vibes for quick healing!

That plant is extremely fussy and dies easily. I love the look of that plant but no matter what i did it died. Terrariam or hanging planter. @calliew311

My sazimai is 2yrs old and still looks like a sling haha but she's already starting to get her blue tones. Brazilians are slow growers, but I love their feeding response!

Your H Chilense is such a beaut!!! 😍 I now know first hand how painfully slow they grow! I’ve had a teeny tiny sling for more than a year and it only molted once..as a sling!! 😭
Same, I have two. 1 or 2 moults in 1 year, still extremely tiny.
Watching your channel has helped me conquer my fear of spiders 🥰♥️ Today I found a baby spider crawling on my arm and normally I would have squished it 🙈 but I stopped myself and place the spider one of my house plants 🥰 keep up the amazing work! I am so grateful for you and all of the awareness you bring to such a misunderstood creature!🕷️
And now my grandson is jealous that you get to hold your tarantulas. We took him to a spider, reptile and amphibian show this past weekend and he wanted to buy EVERYTHING. He held a few creatures and is now more determined than ever to have spider pets. I’ve created a monster!

If you have a mom and pop pet shops around; they’re the best places to get more familiar with pets outside of Petco/petsmart.
They may let you hold or observe up close. An aphonapelma Chalchodes is the best species to start with I think. They’re super calm, very docile. They don’t tend to bolt or be easily scared.

I just got a Brazilian Blue sling about a month ago and it amazes me how much the little thing just loves to come out and roam on my hand. Definitely the friendliest Tarantula I own. Cannot wait until (hopefully) she gets bigger.
These enclosures look amazing! I love bioactive enclosures, the plants are so cute. Frog moss always looks good next to cork bark, another great video Kat 💜

I would LOVE to see a tradiscansia in an enclosure!! I’ve been experimenting and it does so well in tanks and water, and also does well in a moss box as well as just in normal soil, they are meant to be a weed in some places so they are generally easy to grow and root
Also any sort of pothos/ epipremnum and some kinds of philodendrons would be okay as well

I picked up a big thing of that pale purple plant at a nursery a couple weeks back - not sure what it is - and it is on the struggle bus. I am not sure if it prefers dry, or moist, or is rebelling wet feet, or if the southern window isn't enough light. I'd love to get an update on how the plant does with the T. :)
the plant you didn't know what it was called is one of the mini varieties of tradescantia (spiderwort)
@@calliew311yeah lol. so its scientific name is Callisia repens "pink panther" (or "pink lady" or "rosato") but a lot of people call it a tradescantia (like myself because i'm more of a monstera/hoya plant keeper. i had to pull out a book lol) because when cultivated indoors they look more like their bigger cousin Tradescantia zebrina than their wild counterpart. And honestly even calling it the wrong genus is still less offensive than a lot of other names I've heard it called as a houseplant lmao

Not sure what happened with your nose but i just wanted to say that bandaid took me back to middle school! Not sure if other kids did this but kids in my school used to put cute bandaids on our faces as if they were fashion statements. Just one on like a cheek or the nose like Kat has here, we honestly did it because we thought it was cute 😂 man, those were the days!

Hi Kat! Hope you're okay (nose). What is the name of the second tarantula? It's so pretty 😍 and sweet! I have 3 ts: B. boehmei, B. emilia and a A. geniculata who's in premolt for almost 3 months now. Her abdomen shows me she's close. She's pretty big and for sure I have to rehouse her. I got all three of them as tiny slings and they're around 5 years old now😊😊

I know you probably won’t see this, but I’ve been really stressed out about feeders lately. I have an aphonopelma chalcodes male (just got him last Wednesday) and fed him some super worms, but he really seems to dislike them, as he’d bite it, and just leave it and try to keep it as far away from his hide as possible. I’ve also heard that super worms aren’t good primary feeders. He’s about 4 inches right now and I don’t want to feed him crickets as I’ve heard a lot about them carrying parasites. I would like to try Dubai roaches but for some reason I’m weirdly scared of them. I just don’t know what to do. Please help🙏😭

What difference do the springtails make?
they help clean up!
What is purpose of springtails?
They are a little clean up crew - they eat decaying matter and poop :)
And all of my tarantulas are not eating at the same time and idk why
I used the frog moss and it molded is that normal
I noticed sometimes it comes with like some fungus or something in it and other times it doesn’t .. however even the ones that mold if you wait it out a few days it actually clears up usually. Add springtails also
