In regards to Elvira... I figured out that my terrestrial slings will climb the walls like that when they don't Like their substrate. The Two main reasons this has occurred in my enclosures is either too much moisture In a dry species, or to much loose debris. Sometimes they just dont like it..... I'm not saying that is the case with yours, but maybe change the substrate and see what happens.
One more possibility is that it is about thermoregulation.... if there is heat source above or below the enclosure that the T is either reaching out to or trying to escape. Just some things to think about. Your Ts always look so well kept and content.

The Brazilian Blacks are beautiful tarantulas, I do have one. I do have multiple tarantulas from winning them. I have then decided to give them away to someone else as a prize myself. I just found I was getting too many, even though I hadn't even bought them. It just became too much for me. I find I do love LP's only because they were my first tarantula, many years ago.

i don't keep spiders in fact they scare me to death but i love watching them, especially the jumpers they are beautiful and i think i could manage one....maybe lol
I have 4x grammostola rosea and other species. I discovered the G.rosea in a book when I still had a deep fear of all spiders, my twisted mind fearing spiders found the G.rosea beautiful and interesting. years later after learning about spiders I have and love them. For me I have to have multable of my dream spider they are all different the one will climb onto my hand and be chill and the others are mixed between not today and get away from me we don't want to see human today.

I'm a sort of tarantula newbie, I'm about a year in to the hobby. I only have 4 Tarantulas... And two are H. Chilense slings because I absolutely love the species. They're still tiny but doing great, molting perfectly when they do (which I'm happy about because a few T keepers fully called me an idiot for buying a more expensive species). I absolutely would buy more too when I have the chance to do so, since it seems like they've become far less common in the trade. (My other two are a G. Pulchra I need to rehouse, and an A.Chalcodes. Somehow I landed on slow growers)
It is smart to get 2 slings of a species to up your chances of not only survival but one being female. I hope one turns out female for you!!
Don't listen to other tarantula keepers. Ever. Do what you want and what makes you happy. It's your money and your prerogative. Everybody is such an a**hole. And just like everyone has an a**hole everyone has an opinion. There's always more than one way to do something right 🕷🕸
I have about 19 tarantulas at the moment and the two species I have duplicates of are Lasiodora parahybana (of which I currently have 3) and OBTs (I have 2) this hobby is genuinely so addictive.
I spent like years watching UA-cam tarantula keeping vidz, including your delightful channel, before taking the plunge late last year. I have a juvenile g pulcra because I couldn't afford or find an adult! He/she just molted into the velvet black and is awesome. I also got a Brachypelma Boehmei, Aphonopelma Chalcodes, and Pamphobeteus Species Mascara. The only other species I want is a skeleton leg but I'll have to grow a pair first 😊. Thanks for all the great content.

Very cool, ive seen them eat multiple before but it's always so interesting and cool to see them hold and manage several prey items
I wanted an H. Pulchripes in my collection and didn't want a sling so I bought a 2.5" female sub-adult.. sure enough because many vendors are generous, they sent me a sling H Pulcripes...LOL So now a year later my sub-adult is a big girl and my sling is a 2." unsexxed sub-adult.

ive never been super scared of spiders, but I've tried to get rid of the fear altogether. I believed keeping tarantulas would help. let me say I've started with only slings and they've grown so much over the years. your channel has helped me become so obsessed. I'm so attached to my goth hamsters. the fear is gone lol

I cant blame you for the E. campestratus. They were the tarantula that got me into keeping. Took me forever to find one. Totally random chance, lady just got one from someone's collection a few days before the expo. She's so gorgeous! I was over the moon.

Shadow is beautiful! I got my first Mexican Red Knee, this is the first one I have ever owed. I have had many spiders she is the cutest. I haven't started to work with her yet, she just finished molting about a week or so ago. I named her after my favorite actress Ruby Rose.

I hit 10 tarantulas, or I will as soon as the tenth arrives. They are all slings still. I've been growing all of them from tiny babies. I was going to get a terrestrial as the tenth but then I found ANOTHER arboreal and I had to grab it. The only one I have double of is the Brazilian jewel. I have my reasons.
I mean i have 8 boa bci lol soooo...theyre all different morphs and whatnot but i keep it to a small number 10 to 12 boas so they all get proper attention. Very cool vid thanks again

I understand where you're coming from :) I had to laugh when you mentioned the Curly Hairs because I have 4, a spiderling, a sub adult and a breeder pair. I have two A. Pulchripes slings, three Pumpkin Patch large slings, two A. Geniculatas and two P. Cambridgei :) I only have one G. Pulchra...but given the chance I'd have a few more. Loved this video! Shadow is so precious
I know I have seen a lot of videos about this, but I think it would be interesting to hear what your take is on animal hoarding vs having a lot of animals
The only multiple I have is my Curlyhair. I have 3. I added two to an order so it would be over the amount for free shipping. They were very inexpensive and I'd heard they were great for beginners. Since, they have grown like crazy and I enjoy them so much. I then found a sub adult at a local pet shop at a really good price. This one I was able to sex female. They're all really great pets and I enjoy keeping them so much.

Nothing wrong with duplicates! I have many where I’ve kept extras from breeding’s, even up to 8 of some like the sabah blue 😂
The way I see it if u like a certain species and u want 10 of them I don't see nothing wrong with that as long as you are housing them , feeding them , caring for them and love them correctly I don't see the big deal I own 56 tarantulas and I really love pumpkin patch and Mexican red rump and red knees and I have 5 of each species they are all doing beautifully. So really as long as their taken care of who cares how many of each u have.
Yeah 100% and my advice isn’t like mandatory.. I’m just saying, I get asked my biggest advice a lot and it’s that. I’ve seen people (and been one of those people!) that come into the hobby and suddenly get 4 curly hair tarantulas. And when you’re working with limited space and you end up with 4 curly hairs, 3 rose hairs, 4 a seemani .. that kind of limits you before you even discover all these other species available in the hobby. It takes up space and can make you end up with too many too fast ..
@@tarantulakat that's true but that's why I wage out all my options first , know the space I have available for all the ones I wanted to buy knowing how big they get too then go threw the list of all the tarantulas I wanted and did it that way only if people actually would do it that way. I'm actually about to do a video on my channel about that . I understand what your point is and where your coming from . Love your channel

It would be cool to make a video on the difference between actual hoarding and collecting tarantulas. I know many of us in this hobby (and the reptile hobby) get a lot of flak about "hoarding" animals even though all of our animals are well cared for and easily within our capabilities and financial means. It is a very small minority who take things overboard and don't meet the needs of their animals. I have a lot more animals than anyone I know but they are kept immaculately, and I wouldn't get more than I can handle on my own. But there are people that struggle with hording, and they need help, not to be shamed and ridiculed. Shame only pushes these disorders further into the shadows of secrecy.
Sometimes I have to stop myself from getting something more than I can manage and just appreciate the animals I have already. Sometimes you have to just be realistic with yourself. Unfortunately, I don't have the room for a Tegu or a retic at this time in my life, maybe someday but not yet and as much as I want it I just have to wait until the time is right.
Sometimes when I get the itch for a new species instead of getting it right away, I put the money I would have spent on those new critters into the ones I already have. Just today I upgraded my corn snake and leopard geckos' enclosures, and tomorrow my Pacman frog gets a new wading pool!
As far as doubles I have a lot of multiples mostly for breeding purposes. 4 C. elegans, 4 M. balfouri, 4 P. irminia (My fav species!), 3 Kochiana brunnipes, 3 pumpkin patches, 3 P. murinus, 3 T. albo, 2 P. cancerides, 2 H. mac, 2 A. geniculata, 2 Davus pentaloris and 2 B. hamorii
My pulchra is either chill or ready for war. No in between. On the arboreal tendencies, I just ended up giving mine some safe climbing opportunities.

The only Tarantulas i have more than one of are OBTs...
In the past i haven't had much luck with slings... I don't really know what i did wrong, but almost 75% of them died a few weeks after i got them, regardless of their species and their environmental requirements. Then one day i got an offer to get four OBT-slings for 30€... I thought i'll be lucky if one of them survives... all four made it! Now i'm sitting here with four angry, mature, Pterinochilus murinus, ready to kill me as soon as they get the chance ;-)
Funny enough i haven't lost one sling since then...

Honestly I would have multiple of few species myself. I don't see the reason not too? Like if you like a spider and love raising that species I don't see a problem with owning more than one. It's nice to know that people like a certain species and I like to know why. Like why they like that spider versus other species and such. So I just find that a fascinating part about people who own spiders and own more than one type of the same species.
For sure. I have just seen so many people get too many too fast, and if you have limited space you might regret having so many of a basic species bc it takes up real estate for other species you may discover and wanna keep later.
@@tarantulakat Yeah that's true. Too fast can be a bad thing for whoever wants them, and it does limit the discovery of new ones.
I plan to have multiple, but that'll come later in life. Right now there's so many species I want to keep and get to know that I don't want to think about having more than 1-2 of each species. 😂
I have 21 spiders. 14 tarantulas, and 2 of them are curly hairs. Why? I fell in love with my curly hair's personality so much so that since they aren't sexed yet, I got another one in case one is a male and lose them sooner than I want. :( That is when I feel it's acceptable to have multiples, when you truly love the species.

Sometimes I raise slings until I see, if they’re female or male. I give the males to breeders I know. 🎉
Bella (with two L's) means beautiful in several southern European languages, but Bela (one L, pronounced more like Bay-la), is more eastern European and not related.
Hopefully we will find out next molt if we have a 2 L Bella or a 1 L lol
