What else would you add about Si?

Si is probably the hardest function to describe

So Si is about psychological grounding.
    Being centered and grounded

As an INTP with child Si, you start seeing some of the negative aspects. Of course, I hate extreme stimuli--noise, crowds, commotion. And I seldom express enthusiasm. But looking to past experiences--hanging onto the past, carrying it around with you. You see the Ti-Si loop of regrets--shoulda, coulda, woulda. You also see not only control, but concern for safety which leads to panic and desire to escape. Escape to the past or whatever brings comfort and relieves you from the pressures of the day.
My wife is an ESFJ with parent Si. This manifests itself as hypochondria--the disruption of her personal comfort. And I hear about all the maladies every day. Si is a mixed bag and can be difficult to live with.

I mean, with the addition of Demon Ne I can certainly agree with most of that. I'm just beginning to learn not to listen to the devil on my shoulder telling me about all these terrible possibilities.

Hi INFJinx, thumbs up for this video.
As an Se dom, the reaction of Si users to current events could confuse me. By now I understand an event in the present can trigger a subjective Si experience of a similar event in the past. The better you know the Si user, the more predictable the subjective reaction of the SI user to an objective event will become. With the ISJ's in my life I've mapped out the mine fields with Fi triggers. And if you want to make them happy, it's key to visit a place (can be proverbial) with good memories to trigger their positive experiences. I have a theory that this is the main reason most SJ's value pictures and photo-books so much.
Re intensity/exrtremes: while Se users can be excited by intensity of an experience, Si users prefer stability and comfort.
A good example is temperature. While an Se user might opt for a Wim Hof ice-bath to push to their limits and to have an intense experience, an Si dom can be like Goldilocks and will usually comment if the temperature is a little too high or too low.

Yes, I agree with this differentiation.

Si really is my least favorite function. I love the extremes!
That were some really interesting explanations of Si though. Awesome!

I am an INFP (definitely Fi Dom and mostly lack Se). So, Si is my tertiary function. I have seen that during my healthy self, I am good at Si-based activities. Thank you for talking about it ❤️

"Subjective perception differs remarkably from the objective. It is either not found at all in the object, or, at most, merely suggested by it; it can, however, be similar to the sensation of other men, although not immediately derived from the objective behaviour of things. It does not impress one as a mere product of consciousness -- it is too genuine for that. But it makes a definite psychic impression, since elements of a higher psychic order are perceptible to it. This order, however, does not coincide with the contents of consciousness. It is concerned with presuppositions, or dispositions of the collective unconscious, with mythological images, with primal possibilities of ideas. "
"Subjective sensation apprehends the background of the physical world rather than its surface. The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them. Such a consciousness would see the becoming and the passing of things beside their present and momentary existence, and not only that, but at the same time it would also see that Other, which was before their becoming and will be after their passing hence."
"Introverted sensation conveys an image whose effect is not so much to reproduce the object as to throw over it a wrapping whose lustre is derived from age-old subjective experience and the still unborn future event. Thus, mere sense impression develops into the depth of the meaningful, while extraverted sensation seizes only the momentary and manifest existence of things."
The differences between many of the Si interpretations is due to how we understand introversion. Jung understood introversion as the proclivity to engage with one's own unconscious genetic disposition, be it personal or collective. This is why it is subjective. It is not merely an internal "process" of imagination, although it does bring the subjective factor released into that domain. While instinct is an internal constituent of action, archetype is the internal constituent of the cognition or the psyche. This is why all introverted types are described based on their sensitivity to "primordial images", or the archetypes. The S, N, T, and F are merely the functions with which these types are processing those information.
An introverted thinker and an introverted feeler are very similar to each other, as an introverted intuitive and an introverted sensor are. This is why Chapter X's descriptions of the functions are classified in its particular order. Based on this grouping, and also based on the emphasis Jung often gave on extraversion and introversion, an introverted sensing type is closer to an introverted intuitive type rather than an extroverted sensing type.

If you have anecdotal examples, I think it's better to share them like a story, instead of a vague description of it. I have one about inferior Ne:
My father is an ISFJ, and just this past week he was obsessing over the negative possibilities about cutting a tree limb. He directly said that falling limbs are unpredictably dangerous. I (an INTP) was offering unique solutions involving my help using rope to mitigate risk, while my sister's bf (an ESTP) was offering to do it himself, citing his ability to adapt to dangers by grabbing the tree, but my father would not be satisfied with anything except a professional with a lift and insurance. Such a waste of money lol

it's like wanting to be sure that it will turn out right, out of the fear of all the bad possibilities it could go through.. right?

    • @lishayost144

@@thepurplecat9267 I guess high Si users mostly use Ne only in a way to see negative outcomes to avoid in order to keep life as stable as possible and avoid any risk...
On another note, George, I'm INTP and my husband is ISTP and we are always doing things ourselves and rarely hire professionals unless we really know that's the smarter option as far as saving time/money/mistakes, etc. But my husband will be much more likely to jump into a risky behavior, while I like to think it through to come up with ideas to help avoid a catastrophe/injury/mistakes/do-overs.

For people with P as their last letter in their 4-letter type, their top perceiving function is extraverted. For people with J as their last letter, their top judging function is extraverted.

I am an ISTJ ,So what is major strength and weakness?

    • @grababundoberni
      @grababundoberni Рік тому

The strenght is perceiving when the things are slightly off. So is your weakness. This is a story an ISTJ told me. She would never be scolded by her handwriting, it was beautiful. Strenght. She says she can't stand chamomile tea because she had that as a remedy to ease her cramps and gave her bad memories. As an INFJ with demon Si it was weird to me, in Fe I wished she could break that association but wouldn't give her chamomile if it would trigger her physical pain.
