one thing i’m glad about is how discord isn’t forcing classic users to downgrade to basic. as long as the payments are valid you can keep classic even if it isn’t available anymore
One thing I personally have been annnoyed about Discord is how recently they've been adding a lot of new features, but guess what... nearly all of it is locked behind a paywall. I understand that they need to maintain interest from their subscribers, but I don't like being pestered on every update about "new shiny features" that I don't care about. It's just annoying and it makes me want to not buy Nitro ever. At some point it just starts to feel like they're getting more desperate to get people to buy it.
they have so many free features though. Yall are so entitled its insane. Like lets be real the free version is phenomenal compared to anything else, hence why we use discord at all. Its good that theyre making nitro better so its actually worth it
I got nitro solely because the increased file upload size is so convenient for my game development team, as well as the improved stream quality from boosting our server. And with Discord starting to test 500mb uploads for nitro users it's even better for us now. Typically I have to use external uploading sites but being able to upload directly on discord saves a lot of time that adds up
Be careful, discord uploads are public to anyone who gets access to the file its url. So if someone tries a bunch of random urls, with a bot for example, your file got downloaded by someone that you don’t want it to have.
Nitro is good for people who *actually* use it, like you. And you’re using it for something other than casually messaging people. But not for someone like me who doesn’t use discord that much.
You should not do that. Discord has public access of their buckets. Even if you have private server, its URL can still be brute forced. There is no any anti-measure addressing the issue whatsoever (they didn't even obfuscate your token on your computer, that's how lazy they are). If you still do that on sensitive stuffs, stop doing it or at least encrypt it as ZIP files. As for defending myself being Discord hater, I paid for Nitro
@@nathanlamaire Guys, for 10$ a month you can get a 4Core 8Gb ram 200Gb SSD VPS from contabo and run Teamspeak. Better audio, unlimited files transfer and you have a REAL server. Not a fucking Facebook group that had sex with skype disguised as server.
@@KILLBASE yeah but whats the chance to someone get exactly the link of his files when people are sending a lot of stuff all the time? Also how a bot will recognize that his files are what the owner is looking if he doesn't know at least the discord name/tag of him?
Discord is also going to add a more expensive medium plan soon, so there will be 3 plans. This is very basic marketing, and is used everywhere (McDonalds fries, Starbucks coffee sizes etc.). It just makes the more expensive version more appealing.
The only reason that I buy nitro is because here in Brazil, the expensive nitro costs 25 of our currency (roughly 4 dollars) so it really doesn't matter alot, considering I use discord regularly and comparing it to other subscriptions that I have like Netflix (45 of our currency) it doesn't cost that much.
3:34 I'm a freelance designer and i mostly chat with my clients through discord for convenience. The bigger upload limit or really using any nitro feature for free using your alternative methods is not being lazy for me, it's the unnecessary waste of time (not saying your methods are useless, they definitely aren't). I bought nitro because i wanted to just drag a file over, send it and call it a day. Sometimes you have to send files quickly and sending links to external websites for just a 10MB file is not very professional imo.
I'm in a similar boat and fully agree. File sizes I send are close to but not over 50mb for me though, and given I exclusively have nitro for file sharing, Nitro Basic is perfect for me. Was happy to see it's now a couple bucks cheaper.
@Symantyks i do. I used it most of the time and i it's great for casual file sharing. Not for work when sometimes you need to download the same file again. Also, same thing again, i don't have time for this. Just let me drag and drop so i can call it a day.
$120 a year for a few shiny features is insane. I miss when software simply worked the way you wanted after a one time purchase with no sudden changes or removal of features.
I just click on your video, and stick with it all the way to the end of the video. You just dont waste any of my time (unlike Discord wastin our money) You just put everything simply and perfectly together and make it a video. That's Quality content 👍 Keep up with this
I was about to buy a nitro classic since it was a good deal and the next day it was removed and replaced with the basic one. Even though basic is less expensive, I wouldn't buy it.
At the end of the day, the features you get for the price is worth as much as you value it. For you or someone else it might not be worth it, and for others it's a small price to pay for something they use a lot and want. Its just perspective. This applies to any service really. Like personally i never could understand people paying monthly for games like WoW but then I realized that most of those people find value in that money so even if it isn't MY cup of tea it's someone elses.
Thanks. Finally someone is using their brains for what it is meant for. I hate this gatekeeping. It is also happening very commonly for YT Premium and other OTT subscriptions.
@@ratulsaha9487 Value is subjective and do what you want with your money you earned. However, we can still criticize how they make these subscription plans and their structure.
exactly! he made an 8 mins video to tell me it's not worth it, but it is worth it for me! 3$ for bigger uploads and emoji everywhere is really fun and adds value to my account as a mod of a server. we can't choose what's worth it or not for other people. specially that discord is providing a great service for free
Well it might be worth for you but not for others so maybe discord could've just added the basic while leaving classic as it is?? But ofc they wouldn't like that from business pov
The only features I cared about in nitro classic were emojis anywhere and bigger uploads, so this plan actually seems pretty nice for me… but I’m beyond wasting my money now so I’m not getting it lmao
discord nitro is literally putting features that used to be included for free in instant messengers (animated profiles, profile banners and uploads) through a paywall, like, why would you even put anything that was for free to later make you pay for it?
I’m a musician and I typically use discord to send large audio files to my other computers so having the increased file size can be nice, but considering that’s all I need and there are other ways to get it, even having a specific use for nitro it’s still obsolete. Also the bitrate difference isn’t even noticeable on studio equipment (and even if it was it wouldn’t really matter), it’s literally just a scam lol
@@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken yeah that’s also a great alternative, I just don’t use it cause opening Google destroys my pc for some reason (nothing else tanks my pc like chrome)
they've been trying so hard to get me back as a nitro user (i used to use nitro classic for a year) i mean they made the profile popup repulsingly akward a few weeks ago compared to what it was before & then only fixed the design FOR FULL NITRO USERS as a programmer i've nearly been convinced that i'd rather spend money for server space to host my own communication platform for my friends instead whilst allowing donations to keep it running with perks and yes, i have experience in real-time online multiplayer game development using the colyseus library, so it probably wouldn't even be that hard
I mean there is also plenty of opensource communication platforms out there that can just be installed on your server so you don't even need to make your own
the activities aren't great. more than half of them are just board/card games that could be played in Tabletop Sim. i only have Nitro because i can afford to support the platform that replaced skype for me and my friends in 2015 (and because they made the $5 nitro tier useless)
I didn't know about the workarounds but so far I haven't really regretted it regardless. Not even for the profile shenanigans but the accessibility of fiddling stuff around from device to device has been phenomenally convenient and fast. Its has been quite useful throughout the years for creative work especially, or even if I had to pop some files logistically very fast (because that industry *has* to be answered very fast). Only thing I don't do with discord are stuff nobody should see likes finances or something (basically anything sensitive). Moreover its search tool combined with channels made it very easy to apply some sort of temporary dropbox. Wouldn't do it for any other reason. It just happens to fit well for me as a tool. The rest is just a bonus.
This convinced me to try canceling my nitro for a month and see. Thanks! I really just got it for 500mb upload limit but I’ll just start uploading stuff to UA-cam
Petition for discord to have a new category called "Custom Nitro" where we can choose all the nitro futures that we needed for a fraction of the price. Of course, discord would be like no, cuz it would ruin our business
I wish I could express myself more with my discord profile. I’ve had nitro a few times and it was fun, but became less practical as I grew slightly older. I’m cool with giving them money, they kinda need it for a free service with people that work there, but, I’m not in a position to have it monthly, and nor do I really care to, but if I was able to throw away money like that I’d probably get it.
Guilded has all the nitro features for free, discord has competition remember, you have choices as a consumer if they can't provide the best free service out there.
I’d use nitro mainly for the bigger upload; animated pfp/emotes and universal custom emotes are cool and all, but I don’t use emotes much to begin with, and I like my image pfp. Increase in text count from 2K to 4K is also cool, but again I don’t often have a need to warrant posting anything close to that amount normally. Having a custom profile for different servers is neat though.
Looking from a business standpoint, I'm constantly finding myself compressing files or uploading to drive, and finding it hard for people to read words on my screen, so Nitro does help (for me)
We can say goodbye to discord if we have a lot of people boycott it. I do think it's messed up removing the basic plan, but discord needs nitro to make money. It's a free product that saves every single message in a discord server forever. They have a lot on their plate, cut them some slack
While I mostly agree with this, I do think it is important to point out that paying for the service does help keep it free for those who don't pay for it. While I agree they have a ton of money, but I have enjoyed that they haven't been purchased by someone "yet" it was very nerve racking for lots of people when Microsoft rumored about acquiring them. We all saw what they did to Skype... but yeah, I think people shouldn't pay for it if they don't want too. I also agree the Basic is really dumb... but I will be keeping my regular nitro.
@@elllieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee never claimed they were, I’m just saying as someone who has worked for companies that run on VC funding… it doesn’t last forever and at some point you gotta make a profit from your product. Other than nitro, where do you see them selling something or putting ads on your Discord? They don’t, so where you think that money is coming from? VC funds and they will dry up at some point, so they gotta show investors that there is a path to profitability.
@@TimothyRogers You say that but Discord had a partnership with UA-cam the VERY LAST update so it's proof they can completely manage without the subscription bullshit.
@@thechugg4372 again... missing the point, I am not saying they need the money "right now" they don't... but if you leave a platform only for "free" you must accept the stuff that comes with, and by that I mean ownership change((like microsoft almost bought them once)) or investors that currently keep it free for people pulling out and the service degrading over time with trickle of funds running out... AGAIN... THEY DON'T NEED THE MONEY!!! But they do need to show investors they can make money, otherwise, it cannot stay free forever.
@@elllieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Well they aren't rich. they have more partnerships now but with no ads, not selling our data, and being so feature rich for free, they do need revenue from somewhere
the only reason I really use nitro is for the higher upload size and the emojis, although I would be in pain if I didn't have those, so I actually don't mind them making a cheaper plan without some features that I don't use (my internet sucks so I wasn't streaming in 1080p 60fps anyway)
jokes on you im actually an audio engineer, I can tell the difference between 128 & 256 bits, i've never used discord, but i'd assume you'd just need something like a pair of refrence headphones and an amp to hear it. These programs also have (on top of the bits) a ton of interference with noise suppression and other factors, like with RTX Voice. Hence why we naturally isolate the voice when we record. Compression is another huge factor, it can be worse with internet and the servers the VOIP is running off of. They're is not a big difference between codecs (it literally like MP3 vs OGG), with OGG being the better option. The thing is you have to carefully listen to the audio when "critically listening" something a voice app isn't designed for, especially a gaming centrist one. However, if something like UA-cam, Spotify, Soundcloud, etc did this it would be completely different. I am not sure the compression engine they use (or if that is even known). 128kbs is a great bit rate; as you stated in the video it seemed to me like Discord makes even good sounding mics sound like garbage. Also, MP3s (the most common format for audio) use 128kbps and the public has never complained about them. It seems to be a discord error more than anything else. edit: also yes, OGG is a compression format, however opus is the parent of the OGG, it's like Coke -> Fanta
For me it's difficult. As someone who excessively plays VRChat, I naturally have a lot of connections and therefore, am in a lot of servers. A lot of my friends also have their own custom commissioned emotes and honestly, especially with how much I DM, it doesn't feel right when I can only use stock emotes or whatever that current server has. I like to be able to use them everywhere. I mean, I have my own commissioned emotes of my OC. Of course I would want to use these everywhere. I know for the average person not playing VRChat, you probably don't really need or use emotes / emojis much at all, I personally do. The other thing is, I also like uploading certain pieces of art as stickers to my server. Up until recently, you had to boost to be able to upload stickers, so both my boosts go to my own server for the sake of uploading stickers that now everyone can use. All custom commissioned art too. You do need full Nitro to be able to use stickers as well. But the main reason for why I switched from Classic to Full was increased server capacity. I get invited a lot to servers, or need to be in servers for certain events, or am in servers for bday surprises, or I'm just in there for emotes or live notifications for when friends go live on Twitch. 100 servers was just not enough for me and I was constantly stuck at the limit. Now with Nitro, I can be in 200 servers and that gives me a lot more breathing room. Of course there is no way I can actually be active in that many servers but like I said, some servers are just important for certain events or other notifications I get from there and I care less about actually chatting in most of them, although I do bounce around between a lot of them still. Maybe some day I can go through these servers and give it a good thought about what servers I really need to be in and which ones not, but so long I am someone who excessively uses custom emotes during conversation, a lot of servers are important for just that. Oh yeah, should also be said that I spend a lot of time on just chatting in Discord and I use it on the daily. That's the only reason why I would even consider paying for anything, because the features there actually have a use.
I said nitro basic was a scam in their Discord Town Hall and got banned right away. Nitro Basic literally just removing every reason people buy nitro for. What a greedy company
Every single brand destroys themselves in the end that's just how it goes, it's good for years and then over time they get money hungry, lose touch with what their consumers actually want and try to make it better but end up making it worse . This can be seen in things such as Nintendo, UA-cam, Discord and the poor pringles man... why did they have to do him dirty like that ;(
I pay for nitro because I’m 15, I can afford it, I don’t really have anything else i need the money for, and I like the cross emojis and the 500 mb upload is very nice
I actually need Discord nitro for sending files. I know there are other ways, but it's much simpeler to just quickly add a file in chat and discuss it with some people. Mostly handy for school related stuff. I also use the 2 "free" boosts to boost my own server so I have a little bit of customisation. Could I live without nitro? Absolutely. But I use the platform so often that I want to support the company that provides me with a good way to connect with friends and colleagues.
@@Parritz Group is an optional feature. If you so prefer, you can choose to keep it as normal with channels. So in this case, Guilded is objectively superior. Community is obviously the only problem Guilded has being a new startup going against the normal trend like Discord where it's known by everyone. When we're talking about features and the greed, Guilded wins over Discord by far.
another thing: you can get emojis everywhere with twitch prime, technically. by subbing to someone on twitch and being on a server who's owner is said streamer, you can use their twitch emotes anywhere. thing is that if have a twitch account (it might have to be affiliate) you can make a server and throw a bunch of emotes on the twitch account, then sub to it.
I stayed without nitro for 5 years, now I’m kinda attached to it cause well, higher upload limit mostly I do a lot of comms stuff and my stuff tends to be quite large
honestly, nitro basic offers the features I actually care about and the price is remarkably more worth; I like the limit of the overly strict 8MB upload limit and I have never needed to send a file more than 20-30 megabytes. I also like using custom emoji because... emoji *obviously* its marketing, but for what it's worth in my opinion $36 a year is well worth the premium features it offers
I just experienced stereo audio from one of our discord friends the other day. He has software that emulates a stereo microphone and that comes through discord properly without being down mixed into mono. So I'm unsure where you got your information, but my personal experience is definitely different than part of your explanation there.
i understand why many might be opposed to customization but your second reason is entirely subjective. i personally look at other peoples customized profiles a lot + i often have people comment on mine. it depends on what kinda communities you're part of and how excessively you use discord. also, ive gone months without nitro before (after starting to use it since 2018) and personally using discord isnt nearly as enjoyable to me without it anymore. i do think $10 is a bit much for the features we get, i'd be a lot happier spending like $7-8 for it but generally thinking i still appreciate the features i get from it. thank you for your videos though i always appreciate them :)
I used to host livestreams in discord servers where everyone would put a bit of our money to pay for a ticket to a livestream concert and to pay discord nitro for one of us (me) so we could all watch the concert in HD. Classic nitro was perfect since it only added cents to whatever price everyone had to pay but it still helped us in the end. Now because of classic disappearing we can't bring ourselves to pay the 10$ of nitro and we are seriously considering to move to another platform to do this stuff, but we can't find any other place as moderated as discord
I like almost every nitro feature. I enjoy higher streaming quality, animated emojis, profile customization (tho not that important), higher upload file sizes, etc. All of it imo is nice. I wouldn't pay for any of these things separately but I find having them all together wrapped up in a little bundle nice and easy for me is worth 10 dollars a month. I know that you could say it's useless, and to some extent it is. I mean it's Discord... But at least I'm not one of those idiots who pay for youtube premium.
I have nitro specifically for the emotes. I'm the kinda person who spent money on tier 3 gifts (during subtember ofc, I think I got more than half of what I spent back with the next payout anyways lol) to unlock the emotes slot on their twitch account just to have my own emotes to use and now my friends are also using them. Good fun. I'm basically saving like 14€ a year compared to the annual Nitro Classic and still get my emotes, so I couldn't be happier. I never really use calls or video chat at all, I don't even need stickers because gifs exist already and can be used as sticker, been doing that for years infact. If I can pay 3.99€/month to use a friend's twitch emotes, I can easily pay 4.99€ for a customizable basically infinite amount of emojis.
All I need is the ability to set two different profile pictures and I'm getting that just by creating a second account. I can run Discord, PTB, and Canary to be online simultaneously with 3 different accounts if I wanted to.
@@FunctionallyLiteratePerson I don't consider those good options because the dev branch isn't stable, the web client isn't fully featured, and custom clients have a different user experience. The 3 I mentioned are essentially identical in every aspect and require absolutely no learning curve, if you are already using Discord normally.
A couple years ago I had bought the years worth of nitro and not even a week later they had indefinitely disabled my account for "going against tos" when I genuinely didn't do anything, when I sent an email to support and asked how I went against tos. What I got back was an email another week later telling me that the reason my account was disabled was because I in fact went against tos, and never went into detail or told me about what I have supposedly done. They were also rather rude with a statement after just stating my account was disabled, stating that I had no right to get my account back and it is indefinitely going to be disabled. Following this I inquired about getting my money back and to this day still have not gotten an email back about that, nor have they returned my money to me. In conclusion discord as a whole has gone downhill from where it used to stand long ago, the staff have gotten bitter and the quality of things are some how worse, yet they've claimed to have improved everything. Just be careful with stuff like this guys, and nitro truly isn't all that.
I never really cared about the features of nitro. But I really enjoyed the service of discord even when I used it for free, I really don't mind paying for discord to keep improving discord :) Classic user btw
can you please talk about the fact tht if you hover over a nitro user's profile they become an ad that says "if you want to customize your profile buy discord nitro"
I don’t get why they did this, it made no sense to make nitro basic literally useless to buy. If you want anything REMOTELY decent you have to spend $12 AUD or $10 usd
Yeah Discord is honestly just a really big scam. they made Nitro cheaper which sounds nice on paper... But then they removed like half the features of Nitro Classic which was only $5... They could have just kept a $3 Nitro with even less features. They basically effectively made it so you have to buy only the $10 version because no animated pfp. The appeal of nitro was the animated pfp and all that stuff.

Listen man, not paying a few bucks for an app that I use for like 80% of my day is scummy as fuck. It takes a shit load of money to provide a service as good as discord does. Afaik Discord still doesn't make a net profit and probably never will. I don't buy nitro for emojis the same way I don't go to Patreon to buy something. I do it because of the value it provides to my everyday life. All the time saved by having a good screen share platform, the ability to communicate with almost everyone I care about without needing 20 different chat apps, the ability easily upload 100Mb files (10 of those bad bois is already a gig. And storage ain't cheap, especially if you plan to store them indefinitely) and way more little things like an amazing bot API or webhooks. This saves me a lot of time altogether, and at the end of the day, time is money. 10$ is dirt cheap for a service like this IMO (especially after you factor in regional pricing).
@@crazyhjonk120 You don't need nitro anymore then. Nitro lets you join 200 servers, even if you cancel it, you won't leave any of the extra servers you have already joined. So you can cancel nitro now.

I have nitro for none of the reasons you listed. Maybe I'm just getting old but I will keep my nitro sub for as long as I use the service. For my friends who are free users, it's essentially always been an ad-free experience. It has supported so many communities and helped ALL of us make many great lasting memories online. That on its own, is reason enough for Discord to have my subscription. I want to Discord to be around for as long as possible 😊Plus, for entertainment purposes, Discord nitro is arguably one of the best value subscriptions that exist.
what entertainment purposes? and saying that discord is “worthy” of your money because you made memories on the platform is pointless and mindless especially when you don’t get much at all from the money you throw at them. you must be wiping your butt with 100 dollar bills if you don’t care about donating it to a large cooperation. Dear No Text To Speech, Without Nitro, I wouldn’t be able to send the entire Morbius movie on 240p without the use of embeds. Regards, TheProfessionalName
I use nitro for emotes, file size and boosting. I was tempted to switch to the alternative methods you mentioned for the first two, but then I remembered that I'm boosting a quite unknown emote server, so without the boosts, they'd, and in turn I'd, lose emotes :/
I only use nitro for bigger file size uploads and my gremlin addiction to emojis. Even then i already have weird workarounds so i mostly keep mine for the boosts to my own server plus stickers too. Dumb, I know, but that's really the only value i see in my subscription. I do get it cheaper thanks to the region I'm in so I'm grateful.
Everything in Nitro Classic should just be baked into the default user experience. There are web forums older than the average Discord moderator that allow you to use a gif as a profile picture.
Another thing to add onto the server "boosted audio quality", Discord also dissuades users from increasing the bitrate in the voice channel settings with the message: "ALL THE BITS! Going above 64kbps may adversely affect people on poor connections." Quite ironic.
The way I see it, if you use something everyday and it's important to you, you should pay for it. it'll keep the service better for everyone, even for the plebs
one thing you missed about bitrates is that it's helpful for VCs with a bunch of people, since when you start getting more it can't allocate as much to each person
The way I see it, discord has no ads, doesn't push subscribing for core features, doesn't limit genuinely useful features behind a paywall and is an application I use every single day. Discord is a company, they need to pay people, they need to turn a profit. I don't mind paying $10 a month to an application I use regularly.
I subscribed to normal nitro for a month and then switched to classic. Luckily discord didn't force me to "downgrade", I still pay $5 per month and got all features of classic nitro.
the HIGHEST plan cost for discord should be $3 a month. $10 is highway robbery for what you get. you know what telegram gives you for $4 a month? 4GB UPLOADS(from 2GB), 1000 CHANNELS.
5:01 is a good point. But the only people even really buying nitro are desperate guys trying to impress egirls, young people with upper middle class parents that spoil them, or both. So they probably already have a good phone plan
What I MOST use with nitro are the custom emojis and bigger file limit. Custom profile theme & banner - I barely look at my profile. Banner is (kinda) cool but It still doesn't matter that much. Animated PFP - I don't have any cool GIF. Activities - Seriously? Stickers - I never use them. Boost - I don't need to boost servers. HD Video - I don't share screen that much, when I do it's just for help to install something or something like that. HD is pointless for me. Multiple profiles - I use the same in every server. Custom emojis - I use it REALLY often. Bigger file limit - I upload lots of videos that are way bigger than the normal limit.
I was gifted nitro classic in the past, and once the month was over, instead of allowing me to cancel it so it wouldn’t charge me, they instead continuously charged me for nitro basic- i eventually got a refund.
I'm on Nitro Trial right now, and I do like the Profile Styling even though I doubt my friends see it very often. If they moved it to Nitro Basic I might consider actually subscribing to Basic. But for now I'm just gonna cancel Nitro lol. I think they could make Profile Styling more "useful" by also applying the colors to the profile on the members list so your profile pops out more on the list. Edit: I tried to "prototype" this idea with CSS and inspect element and it looked kinda horrible. Maybe Discord could implement it better lol
Ive been using nitro for a year and a half now, and Ill die on this hill but it was money well spent. The biggest thing that I use (like most people) is the file uploads. I made a personal server for myself and started using discord to transfer random files between my phone and computer(s). And believe it or not it works flawlessly. Its extremely fast and there's no sitting around waiting for things to "sync" like they do on google drive or onedrive, which I also use, but for long term storage. After I upload a file, no more digging through folders looking for the file I just uploaded, I just simply open discord and its sitting right there as the latest thing that was sent.
The numbers you highlighted for audio quality are for voice, which I agree is completely indistinguishable, music on the other hand most people can tell the difference between 96kbs and 384kbs though the difference is way less stark that it is with mp3 and is more in line with aac
I find the customisation worth it. Ive looked at peoples profiles and been impressed, some of them look really pretty. And i like supporting discord, since ive been using it for so long.

If you still do that on sensitive stuffs, stop doing it or at least encrypt it as ZIP files.

the only reason I really use nitro is for the higher upload size and the emojis, although I would be in pain if I didn't have those, so I actually don't mind them making a cheaper plan without some features that I don't use (my internet sucks so I wasn't streaming in 1080p 60fps anyway)
jokes on you im actually an audio engineer, I can tell the difference between 128 & 256 bits, i've never used discord, but i'd assume you'd just need something like a pair of refrence headphones and an amp to hear it.
This is also my reasoning for having Nitro - I use it so much I might as well have it

Just... Stop paying for it? You don't need all your quirky profile modifications and stuff (if that's what you care about).
@@poopfart300 That's the thing, once Im In It, there Is no more canceling for me. Its almost like a "Money-waste" addiction, if that makes any sense(?).
@@garry69696 You should just cancel it, there are better things you can spend those $10 on, buying nitro is literally a scam, but I hope you can cancel that sub one day!
@@poopfart300 You're right! I could use that money on therapy, so I can get rid of my addiction of wasting even more money. Thank you for opening my eyes!
@@garry69696 If that's what you want lmao
"it should be illegal for you to say half of the stuff you say on discord."
NTTS Is my favorite youtuber for this type of crap, he can say serious stuff while joking perfectly, but also saying the truth. Awesome.
10$ is dirt cheap for a service like this IMO (especially after you factor in regional pricing).
agreed
bro doing tricks on it
very good video
i only have nitro boost atm because i am boosting 2 servers to get perks outside of discord and that is just the cheapest option
I have Nitro because I'm too lazy to leave guilds I don't need anymore and "need" the 200 server cap. We are not the same.
create multiple accounts
Good luck when you reach 200 servers lmfao
@@joaopedro-mm5lf nah, too inconvenient. and I'm usually relevant in the servers, which makes alts more annoying
@@poopfart300 I am at 200 servers, have been quite long...
@@crazyhjonk120 You don't need nitro anymore then. Nitro lets you join 200 servers, even if you cancel it, you won't leave any of the extra servers you have already joined. So you can cancel nitro now.
I've had discord for almost 6 years now, and I've never once bought nitro myself, I've only had it gifted to me once, and I completely forgot I had it.
I guess L to other countries. Here in the Philippines, Discord Nitro is around 5$ per month (263php) and Nitro Basic is around 2$ per month (99php).
P.S: Discord Nitro is 4.5$ per month in the Philippines.
Wait it's just php263?
@@RealMitsz Yes.
6:40 while discord does downmix to mono, having 10 or so people in the same call is a 10 channel audio thing, which is way more than the 2 of stereo
I don't think the 64kbps will be divided over 10 people
I have nitro for none of the reasons you listed.
I bought 2 months of nitro once and I have never felt like I wasted money more than when the second month expired and I realised how little it was worth.
@@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken What the hell is wrong with you? Just because I wrote; "made memories", doesn't mean it won't be helping me make more into the future? Right now, at any time, you can join into a group call with you and your friends (or random strangers), stream and watch eachother's gameplay live and have a good time. You can even host more professional discord servers for work and collaboration purposes (collaborative game dev/ programming). You can do so much and more, for free, on what is essentially an ad-free platform. If me paying for Nitro, will keep it free for everyone else, then so be it. I'm sorry but you are insane if you think this service is not worth keeping alive.
@@roberttran1114 I don’t think your 10.99 a month is single-handedly keeping discord alive. YOU’RE insane for thinking that. If a business runs solely on what is basically just donations from brainless rich people like you then it’s not a good business. That’s literally the reason theres alternative discord clients that a lot of people prefer to use. They literally risk getting their account banned over using them but it’s far worth it. You can’t be talking to me about not paying for things either I have been one to buy things in games but I at least keep what I buy. You’re literally paying for nothing, I hate to break it to you. Discord don’t care about you liking their service or the “memories” you made. They just like the money and will continue to trick people like you into thinking it’s worth giving to them.
@@roberttran1114 Paying for Nitro is essentially worthless, since the company already has millions of dollars from selling your data and from the chinese shares.
gotta consooooooooooooooooooooom
Finally, someone talking about nitro, because whenever I say I hate it, I get bombarded by little 14 year olds.
Better spend money on food, drink, video games or stuff that you need than spending it on Discord Nitro.
at the same time, you can't lecture people on how to spend their money
What if they already have all of these?
@@nathanlamaire, buying newest game ?
@@fives-pt7yz well, i can't stop them if they want nitro or not.
If they want nitro, buy it. If they don't want nitro, don't buy it.
@@nazrulwashere I don’t really care about new games when I already have the ones I want and enjoy playing. It’s it even like I have too much time playing games. To me it was worth the 5 dollars just to send custom emojis because I just find expressing myself through images easier to do than with words. Nitro is a love it or hate it thing but I still think it’s scummy to remove features people actually use a lot just to force them to pic the pricier option
i remember when they gave free nitro to people who were on discord for a long while, even then i didn't use like half the perks they gave, this was the exact same with my friend
i think it'd be cool if the larger file limit wasnt nitro exclusive lol ahah just a thought
tbh that's the only thing people pay for, other stuff is mostly just a reminder that its "worth" to pay 10$ for nitro
i had nitro classic for 2 months, one month the third month i forgot to renew it and it took me 3 more months to realise that it wasnt there anymore, and that really showed me how little it mattered
Finally ntts is sounding like a human
I'm so glad I got the Nitro Classic 1 year subscription just before Basic got added
love you too. Was vaguely considering the nitro basic but thanks for informing me :)
honestly discord nitro is very useful even for 10 dollars for me
(should be 8 dollars tbh)
because the following are hella useful on the daily:
emojis from other servers
custom backround
custom tag
higher upload size
serverboosts
badge
double servers
longer messages
Waow i get to customize my profile that nobody cares about or even looks like!!!! !Yippee!!!!! Also how is the badge remotely useful? its literally just a png next to your username
25 dollars for me, but yearly
Dear No Text To Speech,
Without Nitro, I wouldn’t be able to send the entire Morbius movie on 240p without the use of embeds.
Regards,
TheProfessionalName
Discord won't even let you use a gif that takes up more than 10 mb as a profile picture. So greedy
@@фдф A 10mb gif must be either the crispiest imagery ill ever see, or 1,000 frames long
Another thing to add onto the server "boosted audio quality", Discord also dissuades users from increasing the bitrate in the voice channel settings with the message: "ALL THE BITS! Going above 64kbps may adversely affect people on poor connections."
Quite ironic.
The way I see it, if you use something everyday and it's important to you, you should pay for it. it'll keep the service better for everyone, even for the plebs
Thanks for reminding me about canceling my yearly sub before it tried to run through
one thing you missed about bitrates is that it's helpful for VCs with a bunch of people, since when you start getting more it can't allocate as much to each person
The younger me said that nitro was a waste of money. Now, in my old age of 19 years, I see that he is still absolutely correct.
Hey NTTS what game are you playing on 1:38 it doesnt seem like there is something saying what game it is.
Lol, there is literally a large label saying „Game: Overwatch 2“
5:01 is a good point. But the only people even really buying nitro are desperate guys trying to impress egirls, young people with upper middle class parents that spoil them, or both. So they probably already have a good phone plan
best outro on youtube. hands down
What I MOST use with nitro are the custom emojis and bigger file limit.
And i like supporting discord, since ive been using it for so long.
i thought you said circumcision
