The fact that this was McLaren’s installment in Gran Tursimo’s Vision GT collective is crazy. It might be the first fully functional recreation of a Vision GT.
Alas it was not the first. Audi built one of the e-tron VGT about 6 years ago 800hp electric that was mad 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds, Shmee got a first drive at the launch. great yt vid of it. Also I think the last Bugatti was based on the VGT. I'm sure there's others but can't think atm. Still doesn't detract from the fact this is a pretty amazing car!!
That was some great driving Jethro! I am LOVING these track sessions and the commentary on these AMAZING cars. I am wowed by the fact that the McLaren Solus GT is available for purchase by anyone who has the money and I am wowed by the fact there are people out there that have the money to buy a McLaren Solus GT. This truly is next level stuff. Well done, Top Gear. Well done.
Ahhh I love V10s... We need more V10s, luckly Red Bull's RB17 isn't too far off, sure I don't have money to by any of them but it's still cool to see that they exist. Not to mention that this kind of car inspire new car enthusiasts and engineers, so soulful cars can't die, otherwise no one would be interested in them and the industry would simply die.

@@brentpowell7889 McLaren is based in the UK, their cars have "Made in the UK" on the vin label. Most of the engineers etc that develop the cars are British, as is the production staff. They're made with a British philosophy of car making, funded mostly by British investors and parent company. What are you even on about ??

Watching the red strap above his helmet is almost hypnotic. Just shows the G’s that thing is pulling. And I agree with a statement, then should have been the senna.
Very, VERY nice. This car definitely deserves one of those TLDR comments, lol. It’s pretty amazing that the torque on acceleration that thing lays down appears to be all the way up the rev range which is obvious from the little head bobs that are noticeable even between lightning quick gear changes. It’s very cool that the track focused hyper cars being made today produce SO much downforce, even at lower speeds, such that torque becomes a much greater influence than just high horsepower numbers. That V10 screaming all the way up to 10,000rpm is an absolute beast. In the track environment, the visible driving experience appears to be more relaxed and not beating your ass all around the track, I think this Solus might be the better choice between this and the Valkyrie for those weekend warriors that are looking for that extreme level of performance, but don’t spend a whole lot of time on the track doing laps all day as practically their lifestyle or career. Comfort in a car with this extreme level of capability can be an extremely important factor in choosing which specific car to invest in as a track experience tool. While performing in a car who’s owner/drivers personal driving talents and physical endurance levels present in driving a weapon like this (on the track lap after lap) where the cars track capabilities far exceed that of the owners (which I’m sure will be the case with this car), comfort can actually keep you safe. Fatigue is most certainly a common influence in crashes on the track and from seeing how minimal the level of bouncing around appears to be in the Solus, it just seems to be the smart choice for the weekend warrior types that will actually be DRIVING the car in the track environment regularly. Brilliant car that’s also beautifully designed on the exterior. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

I agree on one half but on the other half, I understand that these car manufacturers are trying to show us different types of their perspectives of building a fast car that you would expect in a big engine, and find it in a smaller engine. Basically, showing us different types of engineering ways of building the best power to weight ratio car. And of coarse, for profit.
More variety and unique cars is a win. Idk what kind of thought process your having but it doesn't really make sense. More variety is always a win. On top of that, more of these cars we see, the btter the market becomes for them.
Though I get its a limited run of 25, this truly feels like a prototype or concept car pushed into real production. It and the Aston Martin look fantastic; I love the canopy.
