I used to look at Top Gear as the ultimate car guy show. These 3 blokes as you English would call them, made loving cars seem normal and natural. Made you feel less alone in the community. Now I look back on these 3 blokes from England and just find pure comfort from them. I'm having a hard time mentally, and this is one of the few shows that just helps bring me back to stability. Its a nice little dose of medication. James, Richard, and Jeremy will forever live in our hearts as maybe the worlds best trio. It sucks to see the band finally breaking up, but we owe them so much for the joy and comfort they brought us. Thank you gentleman - you've more than earned your retirement from the car world.
Same shit here, these 3 are a very fun window to live vicariously through, I always think of them as the ideal friend group, they'll insult your tastes, prank you and live competitively but when it's serious the boys've got you, and then when you're good it's immediately back to "you muppet". Everyone these days wants a safe space or echoe chamber where your lads are nice a supportive all the time but I say these 3 the pinnacle of the kind of friendship that's hard to find, you all like the same thing but ur all to shit on each other like its nothing and settle it with "let's have a race". Perfect balance between them of competitivity, genuine unfiltered communication whether its heated arguments or companionship and a ride or die ability to get through everything, all of it complemented by a shared love for automotive engineering and being loud about it. I hope to have what they do when I'm their age someday
I love these guys. They make me laugh so hard it hurts. If I’m having a rough day after physical therapy an old episode and I feel better. I owe them more than words can say. I will hate the fact that an end to an era has come, but I will always remember the love I had for this show and Jeremey, James and Richard the three least likely guys to drive cars to the ends of the earth and keep coming back for another. We will all miss you, but wish you much joy in your retirement from the tortures you endured for our entertainment.

With the end of The Grand Tour it felt like I just lost a part of my childhood. I grew up with Top Gear as a small kid and now I’m 23 crying because it all just ended :(. But I’m happy and grateful I had the chance to see them.

4:05 Either this whole thing with another one of Clarkson's "genius" ideas ending up smashing his rear window was entirely faked, which would be an absolutely brilliant piece of television, or it was all genuine, which also is absolutely brilliant television. Either way, Top Gear is just so incredibly good.
@@Fizzure3000 I mean that maybe they knew exactly what was gonna happen when you drive around towing a log on dirt roads with a sufficiently short rope. Maybe they purposefully shortened the rope to make sure it would smash the rear window.
You know this is good to where when it ends, you find yourself with a big, goofy smile on your face you didn't know was there. Good thing there's still some humor in the world, even on reruns.
I don't often agree with JC, but I totally got what he said about "simply liking" a car. Plus he's right about this particular car - I've had an up! as a holiday rental car and while it was a little underpowered (probably the 60 hp version?) it was utterly likeable. Plus it was quite versatile and usable for a car of its size. We managed to fit three grown men into the car comfortably with enough boot-space to spare for one of the guys' whole luggage. When I went to the same place the following year, they didn't rent up!s any longer so we got a Polo instead. And while that was the much more grown-up and roomy car of the two, it felt like just "a car". Even in its very basic version, the up! felt kinda special for some reason.
Whenever Brits say "Beta", I hear beater, and when I see that Lancia, it's a fucking beater. I'm surprised any of the cars made it.. I do Like that Hammond was able to bring Oliver home to England.

These 3 made the best TV Show of all time. Un-PC, irreverent, very English/British and above all, just bloody good fun. Very sadly missed.
Clarkson was so cocky about his "African hand brake". Made the whole scenario that much funnier.
