I have a Samsung RF23M8070SG/AA, 5 yrs old. A couple weeks ago, we had yet another power outage. This time however, the freezer temp started to vary widely, and items in the freezer were getting soft. After a few more days the cooling just stopped even though everything seemed to be running properly. No flashing red light on the control board. Heat dispersing fins on the condenser were clean. Fans running normally. While looking for solutions, I ran across this video, and then cleared out the fridge, cleaned things inside and out, left it unplugged for a day and a half, and plugged it back in this morning. Now the fridge temp is 35°F and freezer is -3°F. Your "hard reset" seems to have worked. Thank you. ^
@@rogerharris8144 sorry to hear that but at least you got 5 years out of it. I guess that's pretty good for a Samsung. We got a GE made in USA from a local appliance store. They have their own service dept and warranty in house so if the thing breaks we can get it replaced.
OMG, you fixed my fridge! I live in Guatemala, and we have so many electrical outages and spikes. I have surge protectors on all my appliances. The fridge died the other day after many outages. I had an appliance guy come out, and he was going to look into getting a new circuit board, and we are talking about waiting months. Then, last night, I came across your video, and this morning, I plugged in the fridge, and OMG, it worked! Thank you!!!
I did have a surge protector on the fridge, so I don't know if that will make a difference. The same electricity spikes fried my Keurig, which had no surge protector.
I had the 5E error code and I held down the lighting and energy saver buttons at the same time and it reset just like that! So I know that this works great 😃👍 thanks 👍
When we bought our house 5 years ago, all of the kitchen appliances were Samsung. We immediately started having issues with all of them. 3 years later the only Samsung appliance that remained was our refrigerator, although every 6 months or so, we had to empty & unplug it for at least 2-3 days to defrost it bc it would stop cooling. We have 6 kiddos & try to do everything we can before having to purchase something so costly. Once we’d plug it back in the issue was corrected, for awhile. Well that was until last week…we are on our 3rd “hard reset” & its still not working correctly again. After the first reset, it still wasn’t cooling correctly on either the freezer or refrigerator sides. After the 2nd reset, the freezer started to cool but not freeze (it would get as cold as the refrigerator should’ve been getting), but the refrigerator side wasn’t cooling at all, then after 3 days the freezer stopped cooling again. We’re fairly certain that this 3rd reset won’t work either & we will be shopping for a new fridge. Once the fridge is out, there will NEVER be another Samsung appliance in my home again, they’re absolute SHIT! The only help we could get on the issue from Samsung over the years, after MANY call & hours on the phone trying to get someone to actually help us, was to unplug it for 24 hours (but we discovered that wasn’t long enough) & all 5 of the appliance repair companies we dealt with told us that Samsung appliances are notoriously difficult, almost impossible, to service. Just to reiterate that not only are the Samsung appliances junk, their actual service center is garbage too! Never the hell again!
If anyone would read the title you have #1 the exact model number of the appliance and the last words in the title are "DID NOT WORK" If that isnt good enough and a five minute video explaining what happened isn't fast enough for you go figure it out for yourself and make your own video. And make it shorter than 30 seconds. 😊
You can not say it is junk, even GE would have the same issue. This is good Refrigerator for me. I got one from Costco works like a rock with large space. It is 5 stars refrigerator.
Oh really? Samsung's are NOT serviceable. Ask any tech who works on them, ask anyone who owned one. (No replacement as stated in the warranty) I have a brand new motherboard for this hunk of junk you want it? I'll send it to you for shipping. Good luck with that Samsung junk.
If you have a watt meter can you attach to the fridge and see how many watts it used in a 24 hour period, if not that’s fine but some website for solar power station says this unit uses 1780 watts in a 24 hour period and that’s unbelievable

I doubt they will do anything for you about it. I doubt they even have the ability to diagnose or fix it either. I have a brand new motherboard and it didn't fix anything. So we know it's not the MB. But that's as far as they can go. No way to diagnose. The Samsung service guy has to call in to the call center to have someone read the manual to him over the phone. I swear this is what they did. ...Push this button until this flashes and that gives you a reading or code.. I can pretty much run my hand down the side and feel if it's warm. @@seetheforest I have been researching this since I started to get the issue.
