Talk about built in obsolesence, there isnt an appliance that has a consistent five star rating. Everyone is getting royally screwed. It's appliance roulette.

Our Samsung refrigerator has plagued us with random loss of temp for two years! Samsung just about made a grown man cry jumping through their hoops to get a refund. And the refund was far less than the retail price for the original unit. Our household has a lifetime ban on Samsung now.

I have been fighting them again jumping to the point of exhaustion and their repair people are the lowest of the low and waited all day and no show. I paid again for another repair person to come out and he said not fixable ...nightmare and boy I am so mad I cannot even type correctly, sorry. Our govt, where are they? Not helping us. So I must go get new cheap fridge and I am still paying on their piece of junk.

I wish I read these comments before my husband and I purchased their "higher end" fridge that broke down in a little over 1 year. We could buy 2 units of simpler type of fridge from another company with no problem perhaps over 5 years. Learned our hard lesson being faced with their bad customer services and our melting food items. Sad, and angry now, but we are ready to move on.

Making faulty products does not increase sales, since people will just start buying other brands. Government regulations about the efficiency of refrigerators and air conditioners have gotten stricter over the years, but the new technology that allows them to be more efficient is not very reliable. But the government doesn't care about that when they mandate those new energy efficiency regulations. Eventually, those problems will likely be solved, but if someone buys a new fridge or air conditioner right after new government regulations for energy efficiency go into effect, they are more likely to have problems.

We purchased a beautiful 28 cu ft French Door Samsung with dual icemakers (1 up top in fridge and 1 down bottom in freezer). The top ice maker quit approximately 3 years after we purchased fridge. Thankfully, we purchased the extended 5 year warranty which allowed the repair man to come 3 - 4 times with replacing the whole ice maker as the final resort. Still did not make ice. Fast forward to less than one year after the 5 year extended expired (still not making ice) and the beautiful, like brand new 5.5 to 6 year old fridge is sitting on our deck waiting to be hauled off to the dump. It completely died after making some very strange noises. We were so discouraged after spending several thousand dollars on it that we went to HD and purchased a $600-$700 old fashioned style Frigidaire after getting sage advise from a veteran kitchen cabinet designer. She told us Samsung and LG are one of the worst appliances on the market for longevity and are only getting worse. We will never buy Samsung again.

My Kenmore refrigerator (made by Frigidaire) is now over 30 years old. The refrigerator section stays at a constant 34 degrees; the freezer is about -12. I recently took a look at new refrigerators online just to get an idea about prices and was shocked. I did notice that Frigidaire still makes the model I have (with some minor cosmetic updates) which sells for under $700. If mine conked out, that would be the only fridge I would consider buying.

Same here. Had the Geek Squad out 4 or 5 times for repairs during which the entire icemaker unit was replaced at least 3 times. Finally, Best Buy replaced the entire refrigerator, which at first sounded great to me, but shortly after delivery, it developed the same icemaker issue. So far, the most recent (Feb. 2022) replacement has lasted. In addition, too late, I discovered that even water drips wiped up quickly leave permanent marks on the lower doors, which leads me to believe I was not given an equal value refrigerator, but possibly a "second". I should add that no harsh chemicals or cleaners have ever been used on this refrigerator and finger marks are removed with a soft, damp e-cloth. It's sad, because the Samsung 4-door fridge is very sleek and attractive, and I do prefer the lower compartments with doors over a drawer style. In the future, there will be no Samsung appliances in our home.

They can't find a Samsung technician to come out and repair it and say that I have to find someone. Well, what about the $150 I paid thinking that the guy they sent was actually sent to repair the fridge. My ice maker has been repaired and breaks every time soon after. My defrost coil heats, but gets too hot (400+F), so any melting ice dripped on the defrost heating element and instantly evaporated. This caused high humidity in the refrigerator, and thus contributed to once again icing up the coils, rather than the water dripping into the hole. My fix was to add a $5 12v temp controller to the 12v line that turns on the defrost heating element, and set it to cycle off and on to keep the element closer to 200F. Now humidity stays 40% to 60% vs 80 to 100%. The coils stay defrosted without build up, and it stops the viscous high humidity cycles that end up freezing to the fan. If the element temperature is limited to a lower temp, it won’t fail as often. Drip water drops on your 400F oven element to see what is happening as a test, then try again when set to under 200F.

OMG wish I had seen this before we purchased our refrigerator. We purchased a week ago from Brandsmart. First problem the two delivery guys spoke NOT 1 WORD OF ENGLISH. They communicated with us through phone translation. Wth? Then I notice the left side door of the refrigerator was taller than the right side. When we opened the fridge to attach the shelves we noticed a few of the shelves were lopsided. Are you kidding me Samsung? We paid over 2k for the refrigerator. We also contacted Samsung for help with setting up because it was so compicated. The rep went through the steps. We followed her instructions, then she finally told us to call Brandsmart and demand a replacement because there was an obvious issue with the unit. This is Samsungs fault. They shouldn't have even approved that appliance to get to the store with crooked shelves, temp issue & uneven door. I'd think they'd have some sort of quality control for inspection for these items prior these appliances reaching the consumers. The refrigerator has an issue with keeping our food cold. It's been 5 days and the temperature is not what it's suppose to be. In times like this when the cost of food is so expensive, it's heartbreaking to throw spoiled food out because the unit is not working as it should. Tomorrow we're suppose to have an exchange. I pray to God this one has no defect, but who knows down the line. We took out 2 years extra warranty when we purchased, but if we have any issues with the 2nd fridge we plan on taking action against Samsung. This is unacceptable!!!!

When I bought my house a year ago, it came with a "suite" of Samsung appliances. The dishwasher died last summer, replaced by an American brand. The electric range burners work intermittently and the controls are both confusing and difficult to modulate. My fridge makes ice when it feels like it and the freezer is so cold that the ice cream is like a brick, even at the warmest setting. Terrible products.

Is there a process for submitting complaints in Canada that you are aware of? Our refrigerator is constantly freezing up and has been for years. We have to defrost it every 2-3 months as the ice builds up and the fan starts ticking. This time the fan just stopped working and we didn't know and doesn't seem to work. Paid a lot of money for it and it's been junk since we got it. Now the fridge part isn't even cold, yet it says 3 degrees Celsius, but it's actually at 18.5 degrees. Because of what I have learned over the years in this business, MY appliances are older WPs~washer, dryer, range, etc.

I’ve had similar experiences with Samsung. Although I’m living abroad where consumer protection laws are virtually non-existent, I want to let people know that their products and customer service are terrible. Samsung is unwilling to even try fixing the refrigerator, citing it’s not within their procedures to do so. They won’t even sell part so that an independent technician can perform repairs. I’ve owned a Samsung TV and cell phone with similar experiences trying to get them repaired. I’m done buying anything with the Samsung name.

I bought a huge beautiful stainless samsung dishwasher and premium refrigerator from Home depot, maybe about 8 years ago when Samsunmg started to mass market their home appliances. It was several hundred dollars less expensive than comparable competitive models. Buying these Samsung appliances was the biggest mistake I ever made. I don't think the dishwasher made it past the three year mark, and that was after considerable repair bills. The refrigerator had two ice makers, and neither one of them work anymore. Even worse, an internal water line broke and flooded my kitchen. It was a miracle that I was at home to disconnect the supply line, or my whole bottom floor would have been seriously flooded. Another problem with that refrigerator is it uses a very expensive proprietary water filter. Samsung is mostly at fault, but I also blame Home Depot for selling me crap appliances.

For something to be reliable it needs to be simple. Buy a fridge with no water in the door, and no ice maker. The actual process of refrigeration is a very simple closed loop system. You run a compressor, and condenser coils then blow air across the condenser coils with a thermostat to tell you when to turn on/off. Once you start adding in things like ice maker, and water line which are not necessary for refrigeration that's what breaks down. Get a brita pitcher and a countertop ice maker.

Don't do it! Don't buy a smart appliance unless it's a television or telecommunications device. One smart fridge manufacturer was exposed for programming device to fail, I can't remember what brand it was. I'd never buy one.

Our ice maker hasn't worked in over a year and it won't get any colder than 40 degrees Fahrenheit even though when you touch the screen on the door and it shows it's 36 degrees.
