How do I get the tools?

I just used these on my new Y and they worked great! Much easier than I expected. These are a great solution and along with the video here gave me the confidence to take it off.
Would really like a magnetic cover plate, or a diy mod to the existing plate
Thank you for designing, producing and selling these tools. I'm a big fan for having the right tool for the job! Just purchased!
I used a bicycle tire iron and it worked great. What was useful in this video was his showing how much force to apply and where to insert a pry device. I feel
most flat head screw drivers or bike tire irons will get the job done well. Thanks doe modeling the process.
Right on. I immediately thought of using those when I saw this video. Gonna try it now.

We worked on an alternate cover, but ultimately decided to just modify: ua-cam.com/video/9R0CLSFuW-Y/v-deo.html
THIS VIDEO its the MOST HELPFUL by FAR,
THANK YOU 👌
You are amazing, thank you! Just placed an order immediately after watching this.
Matt! What’s up? This is so funny, so I just got a Model Y a month ago and I was searching for the best way to remove that cover and your video popped up. Hope you guys are doing well. We’re loving the Tesla, and I can’t wait to get my Cybertruck next year!
Hey! Yeah it has been quite a life change here, but we're doing well. Glad to hear from you!
Thanks for posting the tool online!
I agree that the cover design is a hassle and will probably break. I second the vote for a magnetic one. Short of that, a plug in hitch over that goes in the receiver and is held in place with the hitch pin would at least keep that clean. You could put a logo on it or something.
Just ordered a set! Thank you for making this!!!
🍻🍻
Thank you for the video. Tried to take cover off my MY for first time. What a blunder and oversight by Tesla. Thought for a second they forgot to include the trailer/tow package I ordered. Cheap plastic clips on hitch cover? I kinda expected better.
We really thought they would have changed it by now.
@@EveryAmp recently sold an (early) 2018 M3 and my MY was picked up aprox. 4 weeks ago, so very new, and very unimproved hitch cover lol.
I’m getting mine today! Will let you know how it goes
Thanks! Just ordered a set!
Awesome man! Love the ingenuity!!!
Would love to purchase one. Thanks!
Great! They're available on our shop everyamp.com/shop/model-y-hitch-cover-removal-tools/
Oops just saw the link to the Amazon store! Purchasing now
Hello. I would like to have bought such a set of tesla model Y hitch cover removal tools . Do you send this to Belgium? How much do they cost with shipping? Best regards, Pascal Mathieu
I would like to buy these! After experiencing with the tow hitch cover plastic breaking, I am always nervous trying to pop out plastic parts on a Tesla!
Sure thing! livingtesla.com/shop/model-y-hitch-cover-removal-tools/
We also recommend making it easier to remove like this: ua-cam.com/video/9R0CLSFuW-Y/v-deo.html
Perfect tool for the job!!
Can you send me info on how to get the device to get the hitch cover off. Thx
How do I buy your tool to remove the hitch cover for my model y? Thx
I found my answer no need to reply. Thx
I’d like that hitch tool
I would love to purchase a set of these. That cover is ridiculous to get off!

I'm not blaming the tool but I really scrapped up both black plastic parts of the bumper and the hitch cover. When I tried to put it back together, the top part of the removable part didn't go back together so now there is 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap at the top. In looking at the video you look like your had the car jacked up somehow and that gave you much better leverage. I put the car on the hill of my driveway so the back end was higher but not high enough. I'm just getting too old for this low down stuff. If you ever make a replacement for door for the model Y I would be interested. I'm thinking of spring loaded pins on top and bottom sides to slide inside of the bumper that the user could push together to release the pins and all without any tools to mar the finish. Well - it is just an idea. And yes I know the slide pieces would show but they could be made small or perhaps recessed somewhat so they would not be very noticeable. Thoughts?
It sounds like you may not have gotten the clips back into their slots on the top.
We're working on an alternate cover solution. I just ordered some replacement covers to experiment with and they're only $15, so not bad!
@@EveryAmp Whatever you need from me - when it comes to this cover - I can goof up anything and so I'm really in the market for whatever you come up with. I think it should stay where it is for now. If you have something before the rains start around election time (just joking), that would be great. But I saw the hitch was there (Tesla at delivery didn't want check themselves to see if it was there - it was there on the order agreement but not on the purchase agreement so I asked them to check - they didn't) so I'm happy now and your tools allowed me to man-handle the thing open. Thanks again for your tool that I probably misused. Please keep me in the loop.
@@EveryAmp Would really love a replacement cover that goes off and on more easily, glad to hear you are working on it. I took my cover off once but broke a clip in the process, so I'm avoiding removing it again for now.
Did your model y come with hitch installed? Or ship to a service center and they installed?
It came installed.
Where can I get the tool to open the hitch

I hope a after market door will be made that somehow retracts or slides open.
Or something with a twist to engage mechanism.
With the tabs retracted, you just put in in the hole, and then turn some knob, and the tabs will engage.
Ingenious
A pair of screw drivers also work
Some people don't want to scratch up their plastic, some don't care. Do what feels best to you.
Are these still available?

Any progress on making a replacement cover that comes off really easily? I'm still interested. Just thought I'd ask for a progress report. Thanks.
We have a rough draft based on those child cabinet locks where you use a magnet on the outside to release them, but it's still a work in progress. It would likely be offered as a kit to modify your cover or as a service if you wanted to send your cover in for modification. Any thoughts on a reasonable price for each option?
LivingTesla I am very interested in this, and would buy if you offered it.
Here's what we ultimately decided to do: ua-cam.com/video/9R0CLSFuW-Y/v-deo.html
Elon did not make a good design on this-really would be replaced with something easier to remove. How did you make the modified Pry tool? And I would also buy an aftermarket plate that is easier to remove. Very disappointing for such an expensive and otherwise well designed car (mostly-does need more USB ports too!)
Interested. Please be gentle with pricing. Lol
Love to get what you have worked out there. Not great engineering by Tesla
Available at EveryAmp.com 🤙
The living Tesla tool I bought doesn’t work; they broke the first time I used it.
Opening the cover is more about getting the tools in the right positions to release the clips than it is about forcing it open. The cover is made from a softer type of plastic than the tools (EPDM+PP vs PETG), so we're already pushing our luck with them. We actually used harder universal pry tools at first on our own cover, but found that they were damaging the cover, so that's why we made these.
Also, you may want to modify your cover to make it easier to remove. We did ours a few months ago now and it's a big improvement: ua-cam.com/video/9R0CLSFuW-Y/v-deo.html
Send us an email at contact@livingtesla.com and we'll sort things out.
Anyone have files for these?
Another great product from you guys, thanks! But $15 for two is a bit steep.
If there's enough interest we could look into injection molding to reduce the cost, but I doubt we'd sell enough at any price to justify a $10k injection mold. Seriously just shipping is $8 for priority and $5 for first class.
@@EveryAmp You should consider selling an STL for people that have a 3D printer.
We did just that. You can find the STL on Thingiverse (www.thingiverse.com/livingtesla/designs) and Prusa (www.prusaprinters.org/social/58982-livingtesla)
Drop the stl bruh
We used to make it available, but too many bad actors on Etsy ruined it for everyone.
Please sell these!
Done! everyamp.com/shop/model-y-hitch-cover-removal-tools/
How about just upload the 3D print file. Afterall, you got something for free from the internet didnt you?
Not sure about the something for free comment since we (LivingTesla, now EveryAmp) are the original creators of this product. But we uploaded the STL quite awhile ago. Help yourself -> www.printables.com/model/90378-tesla-model-y-hitch-cover-removal-tools
@@EveryAmp Thank you. Subscribed, liked and I also shared your video.
For those of us who are lucky enough to have a 3D printer in our houses or have a workshop room dedicated to it, would it be possible to publish the CAD model onto your website at www.livingtesla.com for us to be able to download it and print it?
Honestly, we'd really like to do that, but we've seen so many members of the maker community get taken advantage of it's really hard to make that decision. Facebook marketplace and ebay have many sellers taking designs off of Thingiverse that were released under CCL. Kenriko released his vinyl cutting files and had other companies start producing them and then those same companies left bad reviews on his products! Since this is a fairly simple design, I'm sure others will follow our lead with their own versions and we may release it once we've lost that first-mover advantage.
@@EveryAmp Ah. When I looked up CCL, I got the stock market ticker for Carnival Cruise Lines; it took me a little bit to realize that you actually meant creative commons.
You know, this is a relatively simple design that will get cloned soon anyway, so here you go:

@@EveryAmpLinks don’t work… :-(
@@fl3shgordon Sorry, bad actors kept selling them on Etsy and it just became too much trouble for us. They would copy our photos and use our logo, so we finally removed them.
