But, I think the former is more accurate than the latter. She is VERY striking with the black, almost shadowy outfit, and that shade of green.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about Eliza Swenson's portrayal in The Witches of Oz series. But it's not a good series so I don't blame people for not knowing it, the creative team had great ideas and mixed them with a lot of elements of Baum's universe but it's so badly executed, with awful CGI, bad dialogue and performances. The witch's design was a compromise of MGM's and Baum's version, having an eye patch and the umbrella.

I’m going to (just slightly) disagree. During Defying Gravity, she is given the final piece of the wicked witch’s classic outfit (the cape), she is named the Wicked Witch by Madame Morrible, and she is irrevocably placed in opposition to the Wizard. Before act 1 (and part 1 of the movie) ends, she is fully the Wicked Witch. Granted, it’s the very end and we only get a couple minutes of it, but we have in fact seen Cynthia as the wicked witch.
Now some of you might hate me for this, but I think Mila Kuna is the wicked witch of the West is a little random. Don’t get me wrong. Her costume is beautiful and she’s a good actress.
