Imo that as a result of producing things that are more child-friendly, many of the things that we (2014 and older) grew up on are now "something that wouldn't work anymore". Somehow, no one had ever been bothered by a scary witch scaring children with a stove or a villain jumping out of nowhere. now, if you have such a witch, all you need to do is meet for tea because she won't do anything to you
We learned thanks to such productions what is good and what is bad, and now even new cartoons do not teach us, nothing stands out in them and everything is either too simple or very sweet.

We got more body diversity and canon LGBTQ+ characters, things that would've definitely fit with G1's messaging of embracing differences and "flaws". I can't say I'm a fan of G3's aesthetic, it does feel like they're trying to appeal to more mainstream audience instead of the alternative/gothic? aesthetics of the original which also better fit G1's messaging. I think I'd be super happy with the G3 dolls if they just slapped the original outfits onto them lmao.

I will say: Some changes are good. Some are... kinda dumb. Like, they are being less inclusive by trying to be inclusive. (Like making Ghoulia verbal*.) The most disturbing part to me, is that Frankie decided to make a sister. And *somehow* found enough pre-teen kid parts within 30 minutes on the school ground to make Alivia... Like... they just have those laying around I guess.
legit hate g3- i dont get the witch stuff, clawdeen is now, well, i just hate clawdeen, cleo is ehhhh i dont like her, laggona is pink and i loved her australian accent and backstory because im australian, i hate hate HATEE their outfits, they removed a bunch of characters i liked and i liked the fashion aspect of the previous generations, and they just really changed all the characters personalities that made them iconic. also romulus is here.

The characters feel like actual monsters instead of just having monstrous traits, not to mention the LGBT, disability and diversity G3 has in spades in comparison to G1 to the point of even putting the extra work to cast actors that are nonbinary, disabled and whose race matches said character. Never forget what a mess G1 Abbey was and how Howleen was whitewashed.
I think the thing that bothers me most for G3, despite my love of its dolls, is how they handled some of the lgbt stuff and character changes. There were so many cool ideas for duece being trans since he's got medusa hair, draculaura and clawdeen dating, ghoulia and cleo, all of those were such good ideas that I woulda loved to see, tho maybe since fans went with them it meant they couldnt use them? idk how that works. non binary frankie rocks tho, it fits really well with the many people brain thing, to turn down the op tho they coulda had it that it takes them some time to remember past stuff or get headaches from using old knowledge also clawdeen's new style just doesnt feel like it fits her, I loved clawdeen and her fashion so much and i just dont get how everyone is monsters but witchcraft is the limit? like actual dang monsters!

Seeing the changes from gen 1 to gen 3 have just been saddening amd its not because I'm biased towards gen 1. The transformation has just been to accommodate how real life has currently become and therefore have made the characters seem less like the monsters from the story books🤦♀️for example why tf did they make ghoulia able to talk. Like no, I appreciated that gen 1 ghoulish spoke with moans. Lil details like that. Another on is Cleo's lack of bandages. She's a mummy for goodness sakes🤦♀️ give her some more god damn bandages. My opinions on each generation: Based on the show: G1-Great show and movies,can feel a bit childish at times but it's still has great media. G2-Barbified version of monster high G3-Better than G2 based on the plot,like the body representation but some things:like Cleo and Frankie being in a love relationship I really hate. Based on the dolls: G1-Classics back when Mattel made their dolls with love and quality. G2-Most of the time they look too budget-ty or knock-offs G3-The dolls of this gen have become better and better(looking at G3 Venus and Abby)

I honestly have mixed feelings about G3. I loke that we are actually trying to give the characters more to do but some of the things that they went with, I just really dont like. For example, what they did with the changes to Deuce and Ghoulia, honestly doesnt sit right. We got rid of cleo and ghoulia's friendship and got rid of her talking in zombie. Why? Also, I dont like Deuce's snakes part in the storytelling; some of the plotlines they use them for could easily still work if they showed his friendships with the other cast members more.
yknow, as much fake grievances I give G3; I truly do dislike how Ghoulia isn't mute anymore, zombies as a whole being able to talk is fine but I found it to be great representation that a main ghoul was mute! they could've added some sign language for her and taught kids some basic signs.. and they made Clawdeen so much lighter in this generation, this seems to be a new trend of making dark skin characters light!
Say what you will about G2, but at least they weren’t up their own butts changing/erasing characters’ identities to feel like they actually did something. Example: Moanica was only supposed to be Ghoulia’s replacement, not Ghoulia herself, she had her own role and background.
Theory: Ghoulia and zombies in general was meant to be a disabled person but parents were upset because of how she was portrayed in G1 even though there are some who accepts her as a disabled person. I believe Mattel downgrade Ghoulia so they wouldn’t have any complaints from parents
I think gen 1 has better movies but gen 3 has a more interesting story line in the series. Though I love the characters in both generations I think Cleo, Lagoona and Ghoulia were best in gen 1.
G1 ghoulia has to be my favourite and they kind of ruined her in g3. But I feel the opposite about lagoona. I don’t care much for her in g1 and her relationship with Gil is so frustrating. She is so funny, unhinged and interesting in g3, her VA brings unprecedented charisma to every scene she is in.
Honestly, Gen 3 is like breathe of fresh air. The traditional high school tropes are milder and it’s interesting to see a new take on the characters. It’s an alternate reality and I think it’s cute.

legit hate g3- i dont get the witch stuff, clawdeen is now, well, i just hate clawdeen, cleo is ehhhh i dont like her, laggona is pink and i loved her australian accent and backstory because im australian, i hate hate HATEE their outfits, they removed a bunch of characters i liked and i liked the fashion aspect of the previous generations, and they just really changed all the characters personalities that made them iconic. also romulus is here.

G1 will always have a special place in my heart, but G2 had a better storyline and G3 has both a better story and better rounded characters

G3 just happens to have the additional budget to put in the extra effort that was lacking in G1. The characters feel like actual monsters instead of just having monstrous traits, not to mention the LGBT, disability and diversity G3 has in spades in comparison to G1 to the point of even putting the extra work to cast actors that are nonbinary, disabled and whose race matches said character. Never forget what a mess G1 Abbey was and how Howleen was whitewashed.

I think the thing that bothers me most for G3, despite my love of its dolls, is how they handled some of the lgbt stuff and character changes. There were so many cool ideas for duece being trans since he's got medusa hair, draculaura and clawdeen dating, ghoulia and cleo, all of those were such good ideas that I woulda loved to see, tho maybe since fans went with them it meant they couldnt use them? idk how that works. non binary frankie rocks tho, it fits really well with the many people brain thing, to turn down the op tho they coulda had it that it takes them some time to remember past stuff or get headaches from using old knowledge
also clawdeen's new style just doesnt feel like it fits her, I loved clawdeen and her fashion so much and i just dont get how everyone is monsters but witchcraft is the limit? like actual dang monsters!

They're even racist now and race swapped character. They turned Headless Headmistress Bloodgood from white to black, which is disgusting and they tuned Lagoona BLUE to pink which is also disgusting, so they should have named Lagoona Blue to Lagoona Pink now. And theres so much other stuff too, but it will just end up being too long

Seeing the changes from gen 1 to gen 3 have just been saddening amd its not because I'm biased towards gen 1. The transformation has just been to accommodate how real life has currently become and therefore have made the characters seem less like the monsters from the story books🤦♀️for example why tf did they make ghoulia able to talk. Like no, I appreciated that gen 1 ghoulish spoke with moans. Lil details like that. Another on is Cleo's lack of bandages. She's a mummy for goodness sakes🤦♀️ give her some more god damn bandages. And Frankie is a lil too freaky in my opinion. They just did too much with her

Based on the show:
G1-Great show and movies,can feel a bit childish at times but it's still has great media.
G2-Barbified version of monster high
G3-Better than G2 based on the plot,like the body representation but some things:like Cleo and Frankie being in a love relationship I really hate.
Based on the dolls:
G1-Classics back when Mattel made their dolls with love and quality.
G2-Most of the time they look too budget-ty or knock-offs
G3-The dolls of this gen have become better and better(looking at G3 Venus and Abby)

I honestly have mixed feelings about G3. I loke that we are actually trying to give the characters more to do but some of the things that they went with, I just really dont like. For example, what they did with the changes to Deuce and Ghoulia, honestly doesnt sit right. We got rid of cleo and ghoulia's friendship and got rid of her talking in zombie. Why? Also, I dont like Deuce's snakes part in the storytelling; some of the plotlines they use them for could easily still work if they showed his friendships with the other cast members more.
I didn't watch any of the new gen, but as soon as I saw new design I barfed. And MH died for me
i hope they acknowledge g3 clawdeen being a fashion designer i think it be a intresting for the character
yknow, as much fake grievances I give G3; I truly do dislike how Ghoulia isn't mute anymore, zombies as a whole being able to talk is fine but I found it to be great representation that a main ghoul was mute! they could've added some sign language for her and taught kids some basic signs..
and they made Clawdeen so much lighter in this generation, this seems to be a new trend of making dark skin characters light!
Say what you will about G2, but at least they weren’t up their own butts changing/erasing characters’ identities to feel like they actually did something. Example: Moanica was only supposed to be Ghoulia’s replacement, not Ghoulia herself, she had her own role and background.

Theory: Ghoulia and zombies in general was meant to be a disabled person but parents were upset because of how she was portrayed in G1 even though there are some who accepts her as a disabled person.

I think gen 1 has better movies but gen 3 has a more interesting story line in the series. Though I love the characters in both generations I think Cleo, Lagoona and Ghoulia were best in gen 1.
What i personally want is the style of gen 1 but the personal stories of gen 3 and its more diverse body types

G1 ghoulia has to be my favourite and they kind of ruined her in g3. But I feel the opposite about lagoona. I don’t care much for her in g1 and her relationship with Gil is so frustrating. She is so funny, unhinged and interesting in g3, her VA brings unprecedented charisma to every scene she is in.

Honestly, Gen 3 is like breathe of fresh air. The traditional high school tropes are milder and it’s interesting to see a new take on the characters. It’s an alternate reality and I think it’s cute.
