We learned thanks to such productions what is good and what is bad, and now even new cartoons do not teach us, nothing stands out in them and everything is either too simple or very sweet.
No you're not 😭 g3 went CRAZY with the colors, it's horrible. G1 had lots of different colors, but they were more muted, and they leaned more gothic/horror based, colors like pink and blue very often accents with grey and black. G2 was extremely bright, but not as much as G3. G3 accents every single color with a neon one, it almost hurts

in g1 Frankie’s grandfather is Victor & her parents are unnamed in the movies/webisodes. however, the g1 novels, which take place in a different universe, have Frankie’s parents named Viktor & Viveka, which is how some people refer to them when talking about the main continuity bc those are the only names available & it’s what they’re called on the wiki. also, Lagoona is not related to the creature from the black lagoon (gilman). the original 5 ghouls were all inspired by classic Universal Pictures monster movies, but they aren’t canonically related to those specific monsters. the creature from the black lagoon simply inspired mh to make an aquatic monster, but there was no intention for Lagoona to actually be his daughter. not only are they from entirely different locations but the gilman is a freshwater river monster, while Lagoona is a sea monster, which is an extremely important part of her character. they’re very much not intended to be the same.

For what it’s worth, howleen is supposedly going to be revealed to be her cousin I heard from a leak but that leak was before season 2 production so some stuff has changed. Clawdeen x toralei in g3 was going to be in season 2 but isn’t anymore (apparently idk maybe it will be as it’s still on production at the time of writing). Also It actually makes sense for them to be together in g3 and tbh I am not a big fan of them being together in g1 haha. G3 Tor is like kinda Cleo in g1 kinda. She’s a frenemy but a bit more antagonistic than Cleo. Tor in g1 is a professional fucking hater.

We got more body diversity and canon LGBTQ+ characters, things that would've definitely fit with G1's messaging of embracing differences and "flaws". I can't say I'm a fan of G3's aesthetic, it does feel like they're trying to appeal to more mainstream audience instead of the alternative/gothic? aesthetics of the original which also better fit G1's messaging. I think I'd be super happy with the G3 dolls if they just slapped the original outfits onto them lmao.

I feel that G3 definitely split the fan base because they changed the characters and the lore so much that it lost what Monster High was truly about. G1 you knew what it was and the fan grew to love the characters. G3, it felt more on the line to pandering to the point that they were lazy to just create new characters. Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Lagoona and Cleo are basically the mascots and poster ghouls for the whole franchise. Don't fix what is not broken or just leave it alone until they give the original source respect. Maybe that's the main reason the G3 series was cancelled.
I will say: Some changes are good. Some are... kinda dumb. Like, they are being less inclusive by trying to be inclusive. (Like making Ghoulia verbal*.) The most disturbing part to me, is that Frankie decided to make a sister. And *somehow* found enough pre-teen kid parts within 30 minutes on the school ground to make Alivia... Like... they just have those laying around I guess.
Ghoulia was never non verbal. She only spoke Zombie. But yeah I do wish they kept the zombie voice but things change. I do still like her in G3 she's rlly cute in the cartoon.

The characters feel like actual monsters instead of just having monstrous traits, not to mention the LGBT, disability and diversity G3 has in spades in comparison to G1 to the point of even putting the extra work to cast actors that are nonbinary, disabled and whose race matches said character. Never forget what a mess G1 Abbey was and how Howleen was whitewashed.
I think the thing that bothers me most for G3, despite my love of its dolls, is how they handled some of the lgbt stuff and character changes. yknow, as much fake grievances I give G3; I truly do dislike how Ghoulia isn't mute anymore, zombies as a whole being able to talk is fine but I found it to be great representation that a main ghoul was mute! they could've added some sign language for her and taught kids some basic signs.. and they made Clawdeen so much lighter in this generation, this seems to be a new trend of making dark skin characters light!

My opinions on each generation: Based on the show: G1-Great show and movies,can feel a bit childish at times but it's still has great media. G2-Barbified version of monster high G3-Better than G2 based on the plot,like the body representation but some things:like Cleo and Frankie being in a love relationship I really hate. Based on the dolls: G1-Classics back when Mattel made their dolls with love and quality. G2-Most of the time they look too budget-ty or knock-offs G3-The dolls of this gen have become better and better(looking at G3 Venus and Abby)

In G3: Lagoona and Finnegan Wake are cousins Frankie's parents are a zombie and gremlin couple Nefera is a friendly sweetheart who has a healthy sibling relationship with Cleo, although at first fails to understand her sister's dislike towards her but in the end makes amends Draculaura was friends with Twyla back in grade school In the movie Clawdeen changes back to human when scared or stressed and in the cartoon she can freely transform between human and werewolf with her Moonclaw Talisman It's revealed in season 2 that Deuce is dyslexic along with Meowlody having ADHD Werecat twins Meowlody and Purrsephone are Toralei's cousins Twyla is an autistic boogeymonster who strongly dislikes loud sounds Heath is the son of Hades and like Lagoona in G1 an environmentalist Toralei is the lead singer of her band The Hissfits with her twin cousins
G1 ghoulia has to be my favourite and they kind of ruined her in g3. But I feel the opposite about lagoona. I don’t care much for her in g1 and her relationship with Gil is so frustrating. She is so funny, unhinged and interesting in g3, her VA brings unprecedented charisma to every scene she is in.
Say what you will about G2, but at least they weren’t up their own butts changing/erasing characters’ identities to feel like they actually did something. Example: Moanica was only supposed to be Ghoulia’s replacement, not Ghoulia herself, she had her own role and background.
I honestly have mixed feelings about G3. I loke that we are actually trying to give the characters more to do but some of the things that they went with, I just really dont like. For example, what they did with the changes to Deuce and Ghoulia, honestly doesnt sit right. We got rid of cleo and ghoulia's friendship and got rid of her talking in zombie. Why? Also, I dont like Deuce's snakes part in the storytelling; some of the plotlines they use them for could easily still work if they showed his friendships with the other cast members more.
Gen 3 can probably do a recent Gen 1 comic story better. I.e. Clawdeen dating Torelei. I'm not against LGBT stories, but those who've seen the first Gen will understand why I question this one.
Theory: Ghoulia and zombies in general was meant to be a disabled person but parents were upset because of how she was portrayed in G1 even though there are some who accepts her as a disabled person. I believe Mattel downgrade Ghoulia so they wouldn’t have any complaints from parents
Honestly, Gen 3 is like breathe of fresh air. The traditional high school tropes are milder and it’s interesting to see a new take on the characters. It’s an alternate reality and I think it’s cute.

i completely agree with you, i even call the g3 Monster High as Barbie High sometimes,, since they're literally like barbie, but if barbie decided to turn their dolls into monster. They're even racist now and race swapped character. They turned Headless Headmistress Bloodgood from white to black, which is disgusting and they tuned Lagoona BLUE to pink which is also disgusting, so they should have named Lagoona Blue to Lagoona Pink now. And theres so much other stuff too, but it will just end up being too long
Seeing the changes from gen 1 to gen 3 have just been saddening amd its not because I'm biased towards gen 1. The transformation has just been to accommodate how real life has currently become and therefore have made the characters seem less like the monsters from the story books🤦♀️for example why tf did they make ghoulia able to talk. Like no, I appreciated that gen 1 ghoulish spoke with moans. Lil details like that. Another on is Cleo's lack of bandages. She's a mummy for goodness sakes🤦♀️ give her some more god damn bandages. And Frankie is a lil too freaky in my opinion. They just did too much with her

G1 will always have a special place in my heart, but G2 had a better storyline and G3 has both a better story and better rounded characters

G3 just happens to have the additional budget to put in the extra effort that was lacking in G1. The characters feel like actual monsters instead of just having monstrous traits, not to mention the LGBT, disability and diversity G3 has in spades in comparison to G1 to the point of even putting the extra work to cast actors that are nonbinary, disabled and whose race matches said character. Never forget what a mess G1 Abbey was and how Howleen was whitewashed.

I think the thing that bothers me most for G3, despite my love of its dolls, is how they handled some of the lgbt stuff and character changes. There were so many cool ideas for duece being trans since he's got medusa hair, draculaura and clawdeen dating, ghoulia and cleo, all of those were such good ideas that I woulda loved to see, tho maybe since fans went with them it meant they couldnt use them? idk how that works. non binary frankie rocks tho, it fits really well with the many people brain thing, to turn down the op tho they coulda had it that it takes them some time to remember past stuff or get headaches from using old knowledge
also clawdeen's new style just doesnt feel like it fits her, I loved clawdeen and her fashion so much and i just dont get how everyone is monsters but witchcraft is the limit? like actual dang monsters!

Abbey has been suggested to be from Bhutan, Nepal, or near the country.
Despite Abbey's background as being a Yeti from Nepal (a country in Asia), her accent and mannerisms are more similar to the Chuchuna which is a Yeti from Russian/Siberian folklore.

Classic Monster
Abbey is the daughter of two Yetis, a legendary ape-like cryptid said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal, India, and Tibet. Stories of the two Yeti couple first emerged as a facet of Western popular culture in the 19th century.
The scientific community generally regards the two Yetis there legend, given the lack of conclusive evidence, yet it remains one of the most famous creatures of cryptozoology. The two Yetis may be considered a sort of parallel to the Bigfoot of North America. The appellation "Abominable Snowcouple" was coined in 1921, the same year Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Howard-Bury led the joint Alpine Club and Royal Geographical Society "Everest Reconnaissance Expedition," which he chronicled in Mount Everest The Reconnaissance, 1921. In the book, Howard-Bury includes an account of crossing the "Lhakpa-la" at 21,000 ft. Abbey Bominable is a 2011-introduced and all-around character. She is a yeti and a student at Monster High. She is an inhabitant of the Himalaya mountain range but has traveled to the Boonited States of Scaremerica to enroll at Monster High on request of Headless Headmistress Bloodgood, who is a family friend of the Bominables. Though not the only foreign student, Abbey has had a harder time adjusting to the new culture she is required to participate in than most. These days, she has created a reliable group of friends around her that make any awkward moments humorous rather than discouraging. Abbey is a proud and straightforward ghoul who doesn't readily spend words to bring her message more delicately. She's also very strong in terms of both physical abilities and psychokinetic ones and therefore intimidating, but although occasionally useful, she'd rather be known as simply a nice monster to hang out with.
Personality
Abbey is one of the toughest characters on Monster High, but she's also a victim of a cultural clash between her Scaremerican background and her Himalayan background. Even though she works hard to move on from it, she still thinks her old ways are the right ones. She was raised with a lot of short, strong words, and she's tough, confident, scary, and often stubborn. She's not afraid to break the rules, but only if it's for the best. Her biggest problem is that she doesn't always tell the truth, and she doesn't have the ability to change her words to suit the situation. She also doesn't understand the normal teenage stuff, like being anxious about having a crush or flirting, and that's a big problem for her. Stoic most of the time, when you let her in, she will open up and reveal a softer side of herself, affectionate and happy even if in her own unique way with a dry, dark sense of humor that reassures you that she’s just trying to fit in, and that her tough side isn’t everything. Abbey can be very laid-back once you’re introduced to her. Her chilliness may be partly due to her second language being English, and she struggles to tell when people are kidding and when they aren’t. She also struggles with common phrases or sayings. Her references to her home in the Himalayas are very apparent in her speech, and she can be hit or miss when it comes to awkward situations
Appearance
Abbey's clothing dons a white, blue, purple and pink color scheme which blends in with her wintery-like theme; she wears a blue crystal-like ice necklace around her neck, and two different sets of dangle earrings; a dark purple snowflake-shaped earring on her right ear, and a blue icicle-inspired spiked earring on her left ear. She wears an off-the-shoulder crystalline-inspired dress which is colored in black, light blue, white, light violet and rose-pink. Her dress also features white yak fur trim at the top, normal white trim at the bottom, two white stripes with purple detailing going down in the front, and small white straps wrapped around it, tied into a bow. Her cuffs and knee-high winter boots are made from white yak fur, and she also dawned a set of sparkling leggings which has a pale gradient of blue, pink and purple.
The accents were racist in the original, having American people doing over exaggerate accents is not something we should continue.
You can call me crazy, but l love G2 more than G3.
The G3 animated series is not bad, it's a good show.

yknow, as much fake grievances I give G3; I truly do dislike how Ghoulia isn't mute anymore, zombies as a whole being able to talk is fine but I found it to be great representation that a main ghoul was mute! they could've added some sign language for her and taught kids some basic signs..
and they made Clawdeen so much lighter in this generation, this seems to be a new trend of making dark skin characters light!

Based on the show:
G1-Great show and movies,can feel a bit childish at times but it's still has great media.
G2-Barbified version of monster high
G3-Better than G2 based on the plot,like the body representation but some things:like Cleo and Frankie being in a love relationship I really hate.
Based on the dolls:
G1-Classics back when Mattel made their dolls with love and quality.
G2-Most of the time they look too budget-ty or knock-offs
G3-The dolls of this gen have become better and better(looking at G3 Venus and Abby)

G1 ghoulia has to be my favourite and they kind of ruined her in g3. But I feel the opposite about lagoona. I don’t care much for her in g1 and her relationship with Gil is so frustrating. She is so funny, unhinged and interesting in g3, her VA brings unprecedented charisma to every scene she is in.

Say what you will about G2, but at least they weren’t up their own butts changing/erasing characters’ identities to feel like they actually did something. Example: Moanica was only supposed to be Ghoulia’s replacement, not Ghoulia herself, she had her own role and background.

I honestly have mixed feelings about G3. I loke that we are actually trying to give the characters more to do but some of the things that they went with, I just really dont like. For example, what they did with the changes to Deuce and Ghoulia, honestly doesnt sit right. We got rid of cleo and ghoulia's friendship and got rid of her talking in zombie. Why? Also, I dont like Deuce's snakes part in the storytelling; some of the plotlines they use them for could easily still work if they showed his friendships with the other cast members more.
I didn't watch any of the new gen, but as soon as I saw new design I barfed. And MH died for me

Gen 3 can probably do a recent Gen 1 comic story better. I.e. Clawdeen dating Torelei. I'm not against LGBT stories, but those who've seen the first Gen will understand why I question this one.

Theory: Ghoulia and zombies in general was meant to be a disabled person but parents were upset because of how she was portrayed in G1 even though there are some who accepts her as a disabled person.
I believe Mattel downgrade Ghoulia so they wouldn’t have any complaints from parents

Honestly, Gen 3 is like breathe of fresh air. The traditional high school tropes are milder and it’s interesting to see a new take on the characters. It’s an alternate reality and I think it’s cute.
The new gen monster high sucks booty and no one van convince me other wise. The fashion is gone the Gothic style is gone the ACTUALLY GOOD BACK STORY IS GONE they've done all the ghouls dirty giving them cankles and ugly clothes😭😭

Seeing the changes from gen 1 to gen 3 have just been saddening amd its not because I'm biased towards gen 1. The transformation has just been to accommodate how real life has currently become and therefore have made the characters seem less like the monsters from the story books🤦♀️for example why tf did they make ghoulia able to talk. Like no, I appreciated that gen 1 ghoulish spoke with moans. Lil details like that. Another on is Cleo's lack of bandages. She's a mummy for goodness sakes🤦♀️ give her some more god damn bandages.
