Corgi's! "Buy my book's" Benni your'e my hero! My old PC crashed, with all of it's Inkscape/Fusion 360 info and tutorials, so this really helped to started again. Real life got in the way so it has been almost 18 months since then. My goal is to use the images and screen shots from Mass Effect to make plans for practical life size furniture "props". So far I've only managed to make prop of the Medi-gel containers from ME1,... to store a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy for Dr. Chakwas and myself of course. Pet the Corgi's for me!
ULTRA PRO TIP: But Blender can give you the blueprints automatically : just go to render settings, at the bottom ENABLE FREESTYLE, select the camera, in the camera tab on the right set it to "Ortographic", press a button on the XYZ gizmo to set the angle, press Ctrl+Num0 to align camera to view, hit F12, BLUEPRINTS DONE !!! If you don't want the image itself, but rather only the edges, you can export it as an SVG by going to Edit>Prefferences>Addons and enabling the FreestyleSVG then hit F12 again and BOOM, what you just did in Illustrator was just done automatically, with no manual work required, and it's also 100% accurate to the model of course, if you want it to look better you can always change the line style and color and stuff , add a background grid, etc to make them look really pretty if you want
@@valentinpopgeorgiev746 Just use any 2D vector program capable of editing SVGs to make the layouts. Such as Inkscape. You could even edit the SVGs by hand if you wanted to lol. It's just XML, you can just include an SVG into another SVG (either by pasting inside it or by using the foreignObject tag to link the file directly For example putting the view into another SVG which is your page, and you can edit its viewbox attribute to put it wherever you want and crop and scale to whatever you want within the page.
I dunno if I'll ever be the type to use blueprints as my props aren't very detail oriented, but I always enjoy Benni videos, he has a lovely speaking voice.
I love how Kamucosplay doesn't shame you for what you can afford. Hey here's a free alternative! This is what the community should always be like when possible
Mando’s rifle is a disrupter. It is illegal in the Star Wars universe, out pawed by the Empire and the New Republic. It is his and what you saw was a fight scene from episode 2 of the Mandalorian. They basically set every cell in the target on fire and disintegrate the target. Great video. Mandalorian is a fabulous program.
Not only was this a great and helpful video but just happens to be the exact project I was getting ready to start so perfect timing! Thanks for the blueprint!
Benni, you and Svetlana are a great team, you are so made for one another! Thanks for your videos and never stop making them too. Regards from Brasil 🇧🇷
Wow! Just finished watching blueprint drawing and didn't realise you could print out on adobe multi-pages. That has saved me loads of time great tutorial THANK YOU... Benni and Svetlana
"You know, I'm not getting forced to say that..." (then follows the strained laugh, the furtive left-right looks and then the ducking. I was waiting for a fun fur Corgi dressed as a commando to come flying through the air, aiming for your head! lol) As always, a fun, informative and altogether great video! Frohe Weihnachten und ein glückliches Neues Jahr!!!
I’m glad you made this video. I’ve been wanting help figuring out the best way to go about making the Devil Trigger Dante cosplay from DMC5. His final form is insane and this will help me better make blueprints for his sword.
thanks so much for this video it's been ages since I used these kinds of software but now with the info you guys are sharing this mama is ready to get back on track!
not that i dislike svetlana's videos because i Love love love cosplay building, but often times i am in a place that i can't afford new materials. I really enjoy what you bring to the channel Benni because I also love playing around with illustrator and bender and i have learned so much
Vielen Dank für das Video! Wirklich super erklärt. Der Prozess ist viel einfacher als man erstmal denkt. Jetzt kann ich es kaum erwarten, meine ersten Props zu bauen.
I can tell you enough how much this video helped me! I have been struggling to make huge patterns by hand for years because I couldn't figure out how to make them digitally. this has saved me so much time! you broke this down to be so easy making my final fantasy project I have been avoiding sketching by hand for a...long time now....so thank you for the confidence push in making it finally. I have a video I just uploaded of my speed build of a very large pattern (use I have the same issue with picking very large complicated things lol ) as a thank you I added the link to this in the description if you would like to see :) Its my Odin blades from final fantasy xiii.
usually im on my other youtube channel name ( jessie phillips the ones shown as lightning lol ) when I comment on stuff but our couple cosplay channel is what we use to post on :)
Thank you for this. I have illustrator, but sometimes I just print out the prop rather than tracing it and making a blueprint. Also it was interesting to see how you broke it into sections. I would have just outlined the whole thing first, but Benni's way is just better. :)
Hi Benny, Just tu clarify, inkscape does have guides, also if you have a 3D model you should take a look to freecad, there is a workbench for blue prints. To enable rules, go to document settings and then the last tab, if i remember well. inkscape.org/forums/questions/two-crossing-grid-lines-intersection-set-to-zero/
I had a laugh and I took a lesson from Benny! A day well started 😇 Thank you guys for all the knowledge and efforts you share 😏 I really appreciated those funny faces when 20x speed came up. Didn't know where to look🙈. BUY HER BOOKS! 😂I did. No regrets.
Thank you for this tutorial!! Going to use these tips and this video to help me make my next blueprint! :) your guys' videos have helped me so much. thank you.
Thank you so much for Adobe Acrobat reader tip! I was using inkscape for my blueprints , but printing them was a pain for me . Thanks again for good tutorial)))
Mandy.... hee hee hee...! As always, I learned something and you made me laugh. Thank you so very much, Benny! Love your videos and love your books and you guys are just amazing. Thank you again!
i love these videos so much and I am actually new to using foam and cosplay making so this helped a lot! thank you so much and I can't wait to see more in the future!
Thanks Benny! I literally just assembled my Mando helmet. Also you can of course channel your inner outlaw and pirate the show... which I would never do /s
Hopefully, I can get my dad's computer to run faster and put blender on it while I'm home over winter break. I'd love to use the UV maps as a helpful tool when making props. Especially since I don't have any thick EVA foam to work with, just the colourful tiny sheets
I would like to help you. When I used Maya or 3d studio max about 20 years ago. You can get blueprints and schematics from any 3d shape simply by changing the material for rendering. Today I use Autodesk. Here is my tips for instant blueprints from any 3d model. Click on the 4 panel view button, Othagonal View, Which creates a top, side and front and perspective view ports. To enlarge a said view port, simply hit space. You can hit F9 to render the image. Make sure to turn on lighting or change back ground from black to white for the render. Now for 3d models. You can render out the wireframe of the model and you can even change mesh options ot add more geometric lights. If you turn on ignore backfacing, it will only render the viewable wireframe from that viewing screen. Thus instantly rendered wireframe blueprints. You can then render at whatever size you want or need and import that image to the photoshop.. Then eidt to smooth it out or tweak it a bit. You can also render the image, with the wireframe and the model image. You can also do cell shader technique that outlines your model in a cartoon line black line. In which you can edit how thick it renders.. that typically takes some tweeking... Yeah, if you do this, you can simply. Find a 3d model. Have the wireframe material, turn on ignore back facing, choose your file save type,, jpg etc... size resolution... alpha map if targa etc.. and then boom render.. done... 5- 6 minutes. Once you figure it out. Thats what I did 20 years ago in Toronto when I was doing computer animation and medlding about... this way you can do MORE craft time, which should speed up your progress in how to do things.
Great video! Just one thing to add. If you have a 3d model of the prop I think you can make a quick blueprint in blender with a renderer or plugin. Or you might be able to import the file into fusion 360 and make a blueprint. I think you still have to scale it to the right size tho. Both apps are free for private use.
Hi just a little tip to help find images put "reference image" with what you're looking for in your case side reference image I know it sounds dumb but search engines search for all the words first. like this 1) all the words in the order 2) all the words any order 3) some of the words any order 4) any unique words so if you say mandalorian rifle side reference image you're going to get the best results also if you mix up the words like mandalorian side rifle reference image you probably will get a much different que of pictures like a sidearm. not what youre looking for. so just a tip

I appreciate the consideration put into this video... just enough detail to get people started on Illustrator. Could make a similar video using InDesign? Show off how you make your books. I'm into epublishing and photoshop isnt enough.
Honored that you chose my rifle model. Great tutorial and thanks for the credit. Take care and keep making great videos! 😁👍
We are the Kamui believers and in the name of our Tribe, thank you for your hard work and for making your art available for everyone ^_^
Awesome model, thank you so much!

I've been lazy and just printed out the tiled screenshots but I didn't realize how straightforward inkscape was. I'm hyped for my next build now
You are both so awesome and enthusiastic about what you do. It makes me happy that you have found each other in this world.

I just use pens/pencils and paper.
I feel so old and poor now. 😧
Nah dude it’s totally fine! Whatever works :)
People made armor hundreds of years ago without illustrator your doing great!
Me too! Pens, pencils, paper and scotch tape, plus a cheeky bit of photocopying. Works a treat! :-)

Hi just a little tip to help find images put "reference image" with what you're looking for in your case side reference image I know it sounds dumb but search engines search for all the words first.
like this
1) all the words in the order
2) all the words any order
3) some of the words any order
4) any unique words
so if you say mandalorian rifle side reference image you're going to get the best results
also if you mix up the words like mandalorian side rifle reference image you probably will get a much different que of pictures like a sidearm. not what youre looking for. so just a tip

If you double click the layer with the reference image and set it as a template it lowers the opacity and lock the layer automatically :)
Nice!
