Nathaniel Garro has long been a personal favourite when it comes to the Astartes, and I know so many people keep asking me to do more about the Astartes, especially obviously Primarchs, Legions and so forth. I second this. Sigismund is an absolute beast, especially in the latest Siege of Terra book. Brings a whole new meaning to the saying “a wise man fears the anger of a gentle man.”
While true, this idea of a character video is absolutely inspired by the rise of TheAmberKing doing the same, but doing it in his fact based methodology rather than the story format of TAK.
I would love if you did a video like this on Garviel Loken. I remember feeling chills down my spine when Garro calls Dorn a fool, especially with the audiobook version. The severity of Dorns response is pronounced, that part shows both how much of a badass Garro is, and the overwhelming passion and power of a primarch
Same here , I’m new to 40k and currently reading as many books as possible, on book 3 of Horus heresy flight of the Eisensteine, garro and loken are both my favourite to date

just want to say, the description of temeter and the veteran dread in their last moments of defiance against their former brothers is one of my favorite moments in the HH.
I actually find myself being offended that anyone could think Garro would fall to Nurgle and lead the forces of chaos as a Deamon Prince. After what he's been through, Garro is as loyal as they come. Another beautiful video, Luetin!
Can you imagine having to personally tell a demigod that his demigod brother betrayed them all, and then hoping you don't get noped out if existence with a chainsword the size of a motorcycle? Glad Big Yellow calmed tf down 😆
@limon ysal when the fuck did magnus talk to dorn? 😂😂😂 It's not even clear in the novel if magnus told the emperor of horus' betrayal. Magnus realizes the severity of what he fucked up (the web way project) and just kinda says, 'Oh fuck, bye dad'.
@limon ysal Actually Dorn met Garro's ship by a coincidence. When Garro's ship was heaviliy damaged and lost in space, as a last resort, he ordered to eject the warpdrive and then make it explode - basically use it as a rescue flare. At the time, Dorn's fleet has been caught in a warpstorm and the explosion of Garro ship's warpdrive accidentaly worked as a beacon that helped Dorn's fleet navigate out of the Immaterium. Obviously, the Primarch wanted to check on the mysterious ship that helped his fleet. It's written in The Flight of The Eisenstein, which I've read.
@limon ysal Events that occur "at the right time and place" due to Tzeentch's schemes or Emperor's divine interventions are, from human perspective, coincidences. Dorn was on his way to Terra, cause Emperor called for him. Not on his way to meet Garro in order to confirm Horus' treachery.
1:13:00 Nurgle corrupt thought despair, giving them so much pain that they wish for anything to make it end. This is how Nurgle corrupted the stoutly loyal to the Emperor of Mankind space marine Desius into a lord of flies.
The Space Marines often ask the question about what they will do after the war. Ahriman is noted as having a vineyard in A Thousand Sons, and that the Astartes take on roles of healing and educating the mortals. This is stated as the objective of Magnus a number of times, and the shepherding role that Magnus takes with his fleet's Iterators, when he hands out the assignment to take on Lemuel as a mortal Practicus to Ahriman. He seeks to elevate humanity to psychic totality. He's got a plan, since the Emperor doesn't seem to have one for him besides war. It is noted in a few earlier HH stories that the Ultramarines who are left behind in Ultramar in the 500 worlds will take on roles as various administrators, particularly the injured ones. It's also more-than-rational to assume that the Word Bearers were looking forward to roles as priest-lords to the various compliant worlds. While they may have built shrines to the Emperor, Lorgar was clearly committed to ensuring his version of the Imperial Truth would remain forever. It's highly unlikely the Emperor would be able to get rid of the Astartes. The primarchs were deeply invested in them, and he would be naiive in the extreme to think he could eliminate them without losing his own sons' loyalty. Yet this is exactly what happens in Fury of Magnus, that the Emperor is incredibly naiive when he thinks Magnus will abandon his sons for even a replacement legion. But at the end of the day, the Emperor's failed logic is what makes the HH happen, and it's flawed on so many levels. He doesn't treat his sons as sons, but as tools. If it wasn't Horus, it would be a different Primarch rebellion where they refuse to sacrifice their sons for the "benefit of the Imperium". In a sense, the Heresy or something like it would always happen.
"He doesn't treat his sons as sons, but as tools" They are gene-modded bioweapons, always been nothing but a tool. The family thing is just another way to control them.
The Flight of the Eisenstein is and will forever be my favorite HH book. I've been in this hobby for over 14 years and I still remember clearly when me and my twin brother got into 40k during 7th grade, I walked the halls of my school with my face buried in this book. I read it in my classes as well, not giving the slightest feth about what anyone thought. In between classes I would talk to my brother about what I was reading, and he would talk to me about the Iron Snakes whom he had been reading about. I love and cherish those days, I couldn't stop reading it. And so when I saw this video in my feed tonight, I thought perfect. Now I'll listen to the glory days as my favorite lore master goes over my favorite book as I paint my Chaos Knight. Love and appreciate your work brother, stay well and remember to take care of yourself 🙏🤟
I'm very particular with cadence, timbre, pronunciation, accent, and delivery from the narrators I choose to listen to, making your channel the only 40K channel I can actually stand listening to. Thanks for not rolling your r's or being overly dramatic with your delivery.
Great idea and very exciting future series! I would love to see one of them on these characters: Uriel Ventris, Loken, Constantin Valdor, Zachariah Kersh, Sigismund, Mephiston. Maybe a Dante one, but considering how long mask boi lived it would be a mini-series by itself.
5 years after hearing about this legendary Character for the first time, this video comes out. The emperor protects the loyal and the patient. Thank you. I will enjoy this one.
I was never really into WH40k until I randomly caught one of your videos a year ago. I've recently started listening to The Horus Heresy on Audible and have just finished The Flight of the Eisenstein. Garro has easily become one of my favorites along with Loken. The volume of lore is a bit overwhelming at times but your videos have really helped me to wrap my head around everything so far. Thanks for the introduction to something I can see myself enjoying for years to come.
Dusk Raiders name and Insignia was so cool. It is very tempting to start a New Redemption Chapter (Cawl creation using 'Traitor' geneseed) called the 'Dawn Raiders' by mirroring the original Chapter symbol
something has stuck in my head since i've read flight of the eisenstein: Solun Decius is beyond livid that Garro has taken his choice (to be loyal or not) away. to me, that is an admission of guilt. Decius WANTED to be one of those that joined Mortarion in rebellion; just like Lucius. his possession is nothing more than a confirmation of his traitorous ideals
No. If my memory doesn't fail me, Decius made it abundantly clear that given the choice, he'd have followed Garro who he admires. He's just pissed that the choice was made for him
@@Escalusfr Yea he did say that he would have most likely made that choice, but that was definitely the "crack in the door" that Nurgie needed to fuck with Decius
God luetin you have no idea how much of a smile forms on my face when I see you've uploaded, in the mean time are you ever going to go over the space Marines that grow their own bullets?
Hell yeah! This is one of the rare channels I stop what I'm doing and immediately watch anytime he uploads. A hour and a half long episode too! YEESSSS
Feels like Garro's last hurrah should really be against Typhus, or maybe even Erebus. Besides the gods themselves, those two always seem more like the Heresy's *real* villains, IMO. It even feels as if Erebus is being built up as a sort of secondary Big Bad, just behind Horus.
What you say about the divides between Terran Astartes and Non-Terran Astartes holds up in so many characters. Merir Astelan is another example, he was a Terran-born Dark Angels chapter master who could never accept the Lion's leadership, having been used to being led by the Emperor. It ultimately led to him becoming one of the leaders of the Fallen.
Ah! I just got done with a amazing power nap listening to the last video on the emperor. I will sleep like a newborn with a IV drip of melatonin during a gentle rainstorm. Maybe the Emperor was in such a rush with the Crusade because he knew Chaos was going to corrupt one of his Sons and cause the ruination of Humanity, and he thought if he hurried the Crusade he could destroy Chaos before that could happen
After listening to the Fabius Bile books and then the Flight of the Eisenstein I found out that Apothcary that saved Garro was Bile when Garro lost his leg.
I just finished Flight if the Eisenstein, and I can see why Garro is such a loved character. His moral journey takes you with him as wrestles with his loyalty to his brothers versus loyalty to the Emperor. Thank you for this.
Id love to see you cover Characters like Kharn, Ahriman, Bjorn, Dante, Seth but also Humans like Gaunt, Bequin, etc. Theres so much stuff id love you to cover but in the end, anything you chose is welcome. You are a shining light in the 40k Community.
You have gotten me through some very tough times. I've been here since the beginning. I hope you never stop uploading, but that would be selfish of anyone to ask of you
Your videos brought me back to 40K/Warhammer after 20+ years during lockdown and this week I finished Fulgrim having chosen to tackle the HH books for the first time. Thanks for all the work you put in to your videos, Garro is a character I look forward to reading way more about
I was just wondering what to watch for the following hour or so, while having a beer or a few, before heading to bed. just as I opened youtube, this was the first suggestion which is great I absolutely love watching your videos while cracking cold ones before bed
Finally a video about the man responsible for helping create the Grey Knights. Love the Flight of the Eisenstien book and the Garro audiobook collection
Love it. Garro's a champ. I've only read the primarchs, the opening books of the heresy and armageddon but flight of the isenstein had to be the favourite of the bunch. Brilliant stuff.
I found your emperor of mankind series and fell in love with the lore of 40k. I just finished listening to “The flight of the Eisenstein” and saw this video pop up in my feed. The Emperors light truly shines on me this day.
Garro and Loken are the two reasons that got me into 40k lore. And from that WarHammer in general. Sure hope GW understands why these two characters are/were so successful.

Comminity: the emperor is real!
Over an hour of pure awesomeness ahead 🙌 👌 😎
The Emperor, you see, does, in fact, protect.
Relatively new to 40k but the moment where Saul Tarvitz warns Garro about the virus bombs at istvaan was pretty gut-wrenching in the audiobook.
Maybe the Emperor was in such a rush with the Crusade because he knew Chaos was going to corrupt one of his Sons and cause the ruination of Humanity, and he thought if he hurried the Crusade he could destroy Chaos before that could happen
Nathaniel Garro. Alleged First True Martyr of the Faith. And an absolute stud. Great video as always, Luetin.
Leutin you single handedly got me into 40k lore with these videos, 2 books in now and I have found a new obsession
40kaudio your welcome
That was so good. These videos are probably the best sales pitch for Audible I’ve heard.
Things that would likely never happen in a million years but that I desperately want: a Luetin09 video like this on Commander Farsight.
Captain Garro and Sigusmond are my favorite space marine characters
Finally a video about the man responsible for helping create the Grey Knights. Love the Flight of the Eisenstien book and the Garro audiobook collection
Garviel Loken and Garro are my favourite characters, so stoked too listen to this mate. Thank you!
Love it. Garro's a champ. I've only read the primarchs, the opening books of the heresy and armageddon but flight of the isenstein had to be the favourite of the bunch. Brilliant stuff.
I'm glad you did you on this one. You can tell how much you loved this story from day one.
I read the Book ages ago and your retelling of it gave me awesome flashbacks. THANK YOU!!!
As someone who’s only gotten into Luetin vids in the past month when I saw an upload today I was shooketh
I found your emperor of mankind series and fell in love with the lore of 40k. I just finished listening to “The flight of the Eisenstein” and saw this video pop up in my feed. The Emperors light truly shines on me this day.
Luetin is the primary reason I ended up picking up Flight of the Eisenstein and I am so glad I did
Love this format of learning about a character. I basically want a ton more of these!
Finally a video on Nathaniel "The GIGACHAD" Garro
Great work as usual
Garro and Loken are the two reasons that got me into 40k lore. And from that WarHammer in general. Sure hope GW understands why these two characters are/were so successful.
This is literally my only lore channel now. I look forward to your uploads like birthday cakes. Thanks for your dedication rememberencer.
I always really like your videos about individual characters alot. Always hope theres more
Not told you for months Lt!! You’re the man; the Original & the best!! Vaults of Terra used to show the same fantastic quality, obvious hard work, researched to near obsessive level of accuracy & brilliantly entertaining! My sincere thanks for the year’s of hardcore lore, to never bore, above your contemporaries do you soar!! One last rhythm: we want MORE & MORE!... I. Pray it’ll never become a chore,
For Lt.
For the Emperor!!!
Shadrak Meduson please. My favourite shattered shield. "Raise the hell boy! Raise the bloody hell!"
Ah the wisdom of Luetin and his calm, assuring voice over the VOX caster is always a welcoming break from the chaos of the 21st century...
Always a blessing when there is an offering from the loremaster
Lutein, I think that you create the best Warhammer 40k content on the internet. I found your channel after playing a 40k video game about 2 years ago. Now I'm 39 books into the Horus Heresy series and have 4 40k/ 30k armies and most of the aeronautica imperialis stuff. I think that games workshop could learn a lot on how to make awesome content just by watching you!
You got me into 40k in the beginning. That being said I’d love a full knight video
I'm naming my first born son Luetin.. you've made my 40k
Experience so enjoyable & still delivering! You're a Fkin legend 👏
What a wonderful way to start a night of work with 1,5 hours of 40k goodness.
46:49 such an awesome moment, got genuine goosebumps
Fantastic video, would love to hear something like this for Garviel Loken
